This I feel is by far one of the best launcher out there for Android phones ,
SPB Shell 3D.
This launcher looks amazing on GS2, Killer looks, cant stop looking at my phones screen....

My only concern is how it is going to affect the battery life. I have just installed this..so will be checking the battery usage over a couple of days.....
Has anyone been using this launcher for long...? any comments about the batter performance after using this would be welcome.
How do I enlarge the screen shot size ..?
And without doubt the most expensive launcher

Yes it looks nice and run smooth on GS2, however with that hefty price I think it should offers more customization options.
maybe in future updates they might add more options...but the finishing is so good on this, that I don't feel the need of tweaking it at all....

I've been using this a couple of times for the last years Just to see how the progress going
The first time I used it was on my HTC diamond . But it's the same story every time, I totally hate it after one day's use. It makes my phone feels
like an iphone. Today we got so many god launchers on the market like GO launcher EX witch is free and my favorite at the time.
Am i the only one who doesn't like the look of this, i had a cracked copy (try before you buy) but after a few hours i uninstalled and deleted it.

It's a fantastic launcher, the 3D effects are unmatched to any other launcher, none taken on that. But it's not much customisable, like Go or ADW, and over priced undoubtedly. 15$ for a launcher, are you kidding me?

Reason why I uninstalled it when I had my HD2
not for me I want 24 hours in intensive use and about 48 hours normal use
SPB shell 3D is the best it lacks the update that's all.
I already bought it back in my N1 days, unless you play for long periods with the home screen it doesn't affect your battery. (The max i have seen it in the battery stats was 1%) .
It was good on the N1, but on the SGS-II it has the nasty habit of leaving iPhone user speechless after showing in :-D

Whatever the feature they have, the price of this launcher is so unbelievable..........
Heh, I love that people spend hundreds on a phone and then complain bitterly about the relatively minor cost of an application. It's elaborate and well done, the expense is only really noteworthy because so much else on the market is cheap/free. SPB Mobile Shell for WinMo was more expensive, albeit more easily cracked.
As my sig indicates, I'm a fan. The widget suite is excellent, and the screen transitions and animations are fluid and natural (especially the folders). It doesn't affect my battery life whatsoever, and is the only launcher that operates as smoothly as Touchwiz when laden down with my default widget layout - I've tried and liked Go Launcher Ex, but have found it too stuttery after a while. Also own and enjoy ADW Ex, and have experimented with Launcherpro & the various Touchwiz options (Come to think, I've tried more or less every launcher available to date), yet keep coming back to SPB Shell.
The reason for this is that, unlike previous phones, I'm sticking strictly with a function over form layout. Sure, I could have a slick minimalist page with nothing but a clock and have to swipe for anything useful, or hide all my shortcuts in invisible widgets, but...why? Having had an HD2, I've tried all manner of Android variants, and SPB reminds me distinctly of the Sense suite of widgets and apps. I like Sense quite a bit, though I preferred the WinMo TouchFlo hybrid, and wish the Android flavour was more like that rather than the space-wasting dock bar Sense has at the moment.
Of course, I do love customisation, so I'm hoping SPB will open up their amazing-looking UI Builder to the public soonishly (although I don't think it's terribly likely, so a leak would be fine too). That, and I'd like a few of the widgets from the beta to come back - it had a really neat way of integrating the existing clock and messaging shortcuts with the widgets. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the way it is now. It meets my needs, though I understand it's not for everyone - especially not those that love super minimalist layouts, or those that bemoan the relatively minor cost of an app suite.

Hi Everyone,
I've been testing live wallpapers recently and I've noticed that most of them increase CPU load by an unjustifiable amount (either in terms of high CPU usage or decreased UI responsiveness).
Is anyone aware of any minimalistic live wallpapers that don't cause the abovementioned issues?
Thanks!
I'd like to hear about this as well.
So many live wallpapers don't get the concept of a "background." They're cool to look at once, and that's it. Why do live wallpapers have to mean dead battery?
When I used to use the default android launcher I used to use lwps and not really experience any lag or high battery drainage. I used live walls like nexus, seeds of life, sense, and more. The most battery drainage came from kittyface or whatever they're called. Launchers like ads and launcher pro are pretty much incompatible with any lwp. I experience so much lag if I even try to use it.

I think this is yet another area where Android's promise is not backed up by it's capabilities. I'm not a programmer, but surely graphic work like this should be handled by the GPU? Oh no, we don't have proper GPU hardware acceleration everywhere yet (like every other decent platform) :-(

I've come to enjoy Day of Ubuntu. It's not killer on the battery, and for me personally, it seems to make ADW-EX run smoother than a normal non-live wallpaper. Then again, it isn't constantly moving like other live ones, but it's pretty minimalist in that there isn't too much going on.

True. I am sorry.
So I've tried various things, disabled apps I don't use such as Email, Exchange Services, News and Weather, and even disabled the Gallery app and using QuickPic instead (on GB, Gallery was known to waste battery for no reason). Also turned off data and connected via 2G only to save battery, have brightness the lowest possible, turned off auto sync, and yet, still don't have near as good battery life as on my GB running LG G2x.
So my question is, what do you guys do to get as much battery life as possible?

jk. what kind of battery life are you getting? Maybe run stock?
Ha it seems to not have to do with the wireless settings at all, drains either way.
And with GB on LG G2x, got 12 hours of constant, heavy use. Music, XDA, Pulse, FB, some gaming, texting all day, definitely used my phone.
Now, with AOKP+Franco, getting around 8 hours of light usage, just messaging and music. Wi-fi on for not even an hour, and didn't play with it much.
And maybe I'll give that a try, I just love all the options in AOKP.

Might try Apex, battery lasted nicely if I remember correctly the few hours I ran stock. Apex is basically stock, with tweaks and customization.
I know for most phones, AOSP and similar based roms almost never provide as much battery life as the stock software w/wo tweaks. There are some exceptions, but maybe ICS is different. Going to flash Apex and tell you how it goes tomorrow.
I was actually just reading a thread someone posted about this. This guy has some pretty good instructions, I would read this:

Yeah there's nothing you can really do man. SAMOLED just takes up so much more battery than our old G2X's IPS. That's pretty much the only difference. Probably nothing web can do. I bought 3 spare 1750mAH batteries plus an external charger all for 13 bucks to compensate. That's the only way for me to fix my battery issues.

It is what it is. It could improve in the future, but oled has more visual advantages than LCD. I wouldn't get my panties in a was over it though. And just to throw it out there, bigger pled screens use more energy than a comparable LCD because of the pixels that are lit. The LCD screen is more constant because of back light.
...of the people, by the people, for the people...
Thanks for that, will definitely keep that mind when buying a new phone down the road. Hopefully not too soon.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus running Apex
It appears that at lower brightness values, it's not the screen that's causing power drain. Though indeed, current S-LCDs are about 3 times more efficient than OLEDs when displaying white at same brightness.
not bad for me

First, let me say up front I do not regret giving up my iPhone for the SGN2. I love this phone!
But it is not perfect. Some of my annoyances may very well be things about Android I just haven't learned yet. If that's the case, please educate me! Others are probably design or feature choices. If you know of a workaround, please share it.
1. No consistent, simple way to jump to the top of a list, page, or screen. I enabled the double-tap on the top of the phone (Settings | System | Motion | Double-tap to top) but that only works in a very few places. With the iPhone, tapping the top edge of the display provided a consistent solution.
2. I expected with the large display and high resolution to have more screen real estate on which information would be displayed. Instead all the display items (buttons, text boxes, etc.) are larger and the "Tiny" font isn't really. Sometimes I feel like I bought a remedial phone, kind of like the big print version of Readers Digest.
3. Along the same lines, why is it I can't find widgets that I can resize smaller in order to fit more information on my home screen?
4. Inflated ratings on the apps in the Play Store. Are there any 2-star rated apps? I've tried some 3- and 4-star rated apps that I would have rated no higher than 2-stars. But I have to say there certainly aren't any over-priced apps that I have run across.
5. There are Android ports or equivalents to almost all the apps I used regularly on my iPhone, but I'm sad I haven't found substitutes for some. I used Guitar Toolkit every day (for both guitar & ukulele). Thanks to forums I have found some lesser substitutes, but why do they all use midi sounds instead of actual samples of guitar & uke strings? I haven't found a substitute yet for iTunes but am still looking. And I have just begun my search for an equivalent to Camera+.
I really am fond of this phone, annoyances and all. To me, this is what the Apple Newton (anyone remember that?) would have been if Apple (Steve Jobs, actually) hadn't dropped the product after 2-3 years. I loved my Newtons which has caused me to form a strong emotional bond to this phone.
Anyone have their own annoyances--or solutions for mine?
Doug
1. There might be some application for this. Possibly. I'm not entirely sure. Android however, has complete flick scrolling. All you have to do is give it sufficient momentum, and you can fly to the top or bottom no problem. But I guess that isn't a solution really.
2 & 3. There isn't really an answer for this yet. It's bothering a lot of people. Once we get AOSP, we will hopefully get a port of ParanoidAndroid. Which will fix your issue. You can always turn down the LCD density in the build prop. But doing so will break most applications. You should be safe with setting it to 240.
4. The variety of Android phones is immense. And as such, people moving from an older model and installing the applications they are familiar with will notice an increase in performance from that application. People aren't looking at the quality of the application, but at how it affects them and their experience with it. Which is the only explanation for why Advanced Task Killer is still popular. Ignorance.
5. That happens. Some you won't find something that lives up to the iOS equivalent. Yet I've found applications that are on Android that are incredible and don't have a good iOS equivalent. Namely, PicsArt.
I don't like that the headphone jack is on the top.
And I really liked the backing and sides on the Galaxy Nexus, which I switched from to this phone. Really plasticky, not that I'm complaining. I just really enjoyed the feel of the Galaxy Nexus
I'm glad you like the phone. Be wary though, there are plenty of people on this site with an extreme hate for Apple and it's products. Though this particular forum is really well behaved, and I've only met nice people thus far. I haven't seen people attack each other for their beliefs or past yet. Knock on wood. Haha hope that helps, even though I only offered one solution to your issues.

Yeah pressing the top is one of the most wanted features for me, at least when you flicker you finger faster then normal it goes up quicker or down so the helps in the browser. About the screen real state is really annoying to have only 4 apps down and 4 to the side I rooted my device mostly to help someone and put a mod for the screen, is better now

I think the previous purchases are there. Just that the icons are 1000x bigger.
It's horrible for reasons mentioned. I tried it in a early release and quickly switched back to my modded version. Just look for modded versions and find one that doesn't auto update. Yup... Same reason why I'm stickin with my Win7/Linux setup for a couple of more years. I was kinda excited initially but got turned off the more and more they released hints and sneak peaks for 8. I haveven considered a iMac. I helped purchase and setup one for my in-laws. Yup they're old and technologically inept lol! I wanted to sandbox them without worrying about too many viruses. Last model winxp they had (too cheap to run decent antivirus) drove me insane. My dad (graphics artist) has been preaching the praises of apple for years (way before iPod was a twinkle in Steve Job's brain) and has one also. I have to admit it is pretty nice for some things but is still too limited IMHO. Thinking about EVER owning an Apple product makes me cringe no offense cause some of em are great products just too hipster and limited in capacity.
Back to Playstore (still think the name change was stupid)... Maybe they could make it have different file views like file explore r or multiple views based on DPI a compromise next UI overhaul. I wonder sometimes if Google is making poor choices the more mature Android gets. Over simplifying things just because of the fact that a few critics claim Android is too complicated isn't a great thing. Sometimes things get more confusing and lose fuctionality in the process of simplification. Thank goodness this just a isolated case with playstore and maybe a couple of things for now. It could be way worse. Android is still the greatest mobile player around but they better continue to listen to the little guy and developers especially on the eve of Ubuntu Mobile which could take a piece of the pie.
im very happy with it they removed the dumb ass page after installing / updating apps :good:
The store seems to be going downhill ever since they renamed it from Google Market to Play Store.
it doesnt bother me. It looks much better inverted though. . I wish Google would bring back the purchased tab

Your name looks insanely familiar. Did you do any dev work on the GNote i717 or HTC Inspire 4G (Desire HD)?
Also, you serious about getting it just to unlock the bootloader?! That would be nice
He got the phone not to tinker with it?

Yeah. He probably got it so he can stop developing and resume normal life. Developing and flashing are like drugs, you're always looking for that next fix.

What's not to love about it. Bought the phone on Friday and I just can't get over how great this phone REALLY is. Display, speed and battery are superior to any phone I have seen or used. Did I say the display was great.... I hope we do get developers for this phone, because it would be a shame not to really see what this phone can do. I when in to ATT to purchase the HTC One, looked at the high end smart phones and walked out with the G Pro. I guess you can tell, I am quite happy with my purchase.
I love the display, size, performance and everything else hah

I released Cognition HD for the Inspire and have leaked a few updates for the i717
I got it because it has a locked bootloader, not to unlock the bootloader, lol
Love everything about it. Coming off an HTC one x and a few years of iphone use..
-super fast
-i love the customizations LG's skin has to offer
-fast charging battery ( wasnt expecting this)
-the IR remote works on everything i have and them some ( do i walk around work/mall shutting off TV's? possibly)
-widgets, launchers, games..No lag here.( i previously thought the lag on the htc one was tolerable. HA)
-cant get enough of the 5.5 inch phone. i dont grab my phones like i am grabbing a pole, or a beer, so the device is very easy to use.
-fantastic screen
-my HD movies play on it with no lag!!!!
signed up here specifically because i purchased the phone.
looks like a root it possible too!
anyone try the beats app on it? thats one thing i miss from my htc onex. the beats made a difference
Love:
Display is the best yet i have owned. Love running it at 100% lol
Speed. No lag its so quick. S4 lagged to hell.
LG launcher / Skin is very nice and so fast.
Bootloader locked. No messing with roms.
What I dislike:
Not much. Maybe the video 1080p quality. But recent updates have improved it.

He probably has one of the F240 variants for Asia and the Pacific that have been out longer than our AT&T E980's.
I also love the earphones they gave with the phone. The earplugs are comfy, it has volume controls and the connector is right angled.

Yes I have the Korean version (F240) and had about 5 updates so far. One did list camera improvements, wifi improvements etc.

lol on the "shutting off mall TV's"...i've done that too, my husbnd was like, "omg ur gonna get in trouble" i'm like, "what are they going to do? Arrest me? I bet they alter that feature in some way or make TV's have a security feature that has to "allow for IR blaster control" to turn on cuz just think of all the damage my LG OG Pro could do at a convention center, health club, sports bar... you name it... (by the way, i'm typing this from jail) lol jk ...
The customizations are insane....I've changed icons to be background pictures so you can't even see them.. Look at the two trees....
