No, but I believe OEMs and Carriers have always had the ability to add additional colors, which is probably what you're seeing

Yeah I also noticed that and I loved the grey!any way to get it on HTC trophy?also,my Verizon trophy came with an additional red named Verizon so I'm sure its a carrier color additon
Sent from my mwp6985 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

no grey after mango update on voda uk trophy. As sad as I am, this is one of my requirements.
I'm trying to move from Android to this wp7. The transition is NOT going well.

Didn't get any new colours on my unlocked DVP :l

no grey for me too...?
Just updated my phone to 7.5...

Nope, nothing.
And I miss some of the ringsignals from NoDo.
MS is not giving the customization-ppl any love.

[Q] Updates?

I'm really interested in the Dell Venue Pro, as I'm sure others are too. The thing that concerns me is their two Android devices, the Aero and Streak shipped with Android 1.5/1.6. This shows that Dell isn't really that interested in provided us with the latest and greatest in OSes and updates.
My question is this.. Who decides whether or not my new device will get WP7 updates and how soon? Carrier, manufacturer, or Microsoft?
from top to bottom priority if your phone is locked to a network.
1. carrier
2. microsoft
if your phone is unlocked like mine
then microsoft handles the updates alone.
even if your phone is locked, the carrier would release the update ASAP and tell microsoft to update all it's customers on wp7 unlike android since update is created by microsoft and carrier just has to test it on their hardware.

nope. even if dell makes dell hubs on wp7 and it's buggy or whatever, dell would only need to release the update in their own hub marketplace itself.
e.g almost all hTC models have this bug in their new wp7 phones in the hTC hub. hTC has pulled the app from their hub marketplace and will release the app again in their hub marketplace again once it's fixed.
so the main OS and main wp7 marketplace are separate to carrier/hardware hubs and their marketplace inside their hub.
and the nice thing is that anyone can uninstall carrier/hardware bloatware from their phone if they wish to even if their phone is network locked.
That's a relief. Thanks!

Only if it's unbranded. Weve unlocked Vodafone devices here in Belgium.
The one I get will most likely be locked by T-Mobile.

I strongly agree
Can't say anything now Still waiting for official update.
Installed it yesterday on my HD2 and it's amazingly fast! I don't have to wait for anything to load (except 3rd-party apps, games and web).
It's safe to say, Windows Phone is now on top! (too bad not on top of marketshare )
Mango sucks, it's not out .
Mango does f'ing rocks, and I keep finding more stuff every day. I can't wait for manufacturer and carrier updates so the update is complete. I want my vvm, hotspot, and my LG apps to work again.
Its AWESOME!!!! that is all....

I don't want to downgrade when the update gets released just in case the update process gets screwed up again.
I know its going to be massive and awesome and cannot wait for it to be released officially
i'm waiting for the official update, but i'm 100% sure it'll rock
Ugh, I love wp7 but the immaturity of this thread screams android.

Coming Tuesday.. I am throwing Mango release party this weekend.
I think it sux. After almost a year they manage to implant a custom ringtones, and fail (no custom ringtones for alerts). Guess they need to hire another one for that.
They change volume bar with numbers (wee what a change), but still no separate volume for phone and device.
But I must say, its good for facebook junkies.

Wait a minute, you're saying that a whole operating system sucks because of two honestly very minor issues?

Apollo recommends HTC HD7 on hardware basis.

For all the HTC HD7 holders concerned about not getting Apollo update like myself and not ready to upgrade should read this article to calm them down;
http://www.everythingwm.com/what-to-know-about-windows-phone-8-and-first-gen-devices/2012/03/16/
Love this news and hope it's true.
Sent from my HTC HD7 Windows Phone using Board Express.
All the first gen devices use the same base hardware profile. The only thign the HD7 has is like 64MB more RAM which shouldn't be a big deal given even second gen devices are shipping with 512...
The only thing that would stop other 1st gen devices from getting the update is the OEM or carrier refusing to license or support the new version.
Also, the post also mentions the Samsung Focus.
Seems like what has been touted on a few places lately.
All devices to get the update - only the hardware inside your device will limit the functionality you recieve.
T-Mobile doesn't even have the 8107 update pushed to these phones, I wouldn't hold my breath on Apollo...they pushed it to the Radar, and they told me to buy that instead lol.

T-Mobile USA pushed 8107 to all WP7 devices already. Why do people keep spreading these false facts. I had the official 8107 on my HD7 before I decided to go with a Full Unlocked ROM. There are others who have gotten the update too. The updates seems bugged or something though as I know the Lumia 710 has gotten the update, but when I tried updating my roommates' new 710s, it showed them as up to date.

Actually, it just rolled out today, I'm updating as I speak, so I will retract my previous statement. As far as the Lumia 710, no update yet http://www.wpcentral.com/t-mobile-us-rolling-out-windows-phone-8107-htc-hd7-update.
I think the 1st rollout was tmobile in europe. Tmobile USA was today.
TMOUS seems to be the carrier that cares most about WP, the others sure don't.
I guess I'll un-cancel lol.

QUOTE=inteller;23806667]The Focus will get it but here are 3 devices I have my doubts on:
LG Quantum
HTC Surround
Dell Venue Pro
But why are some first gen devices like the HD7 and the Focus chosen over the Quantum, Surround, Dell etc to get the Apollo update? All have same specs except HD7 with extra 64 MB. So what's so special about my HD7 and the focus? And if it's about OEMs, why would HTC choose HD7 over Surround? Really want to know those reasons. Any help?

Thats not directly a problem with 7.8 it is a problem how the app was coded. the developer of this particular app has done something wrong... his site has no valid url for a live tile so the OS searches again and again, because it can happen that the live tile is not found in the first attempt but this is the fault of the developer which has not fixed this issue where to find the new live tile picture...

That is because the official 7.8 update did not arrive to all WP owners...
Anyone on a US carrier -except for AT&T L900 users have not received the update ............................ yet.
T-Mobile cancelled the update for the 710...and probably for the Radar and HD7...
It is highly probable that AT&T or any other US carrier...will do the same

I had to do the Zune update cheat trick 4 times last night but finally ended up with 7.8 on my HTC Win 7 Pro.. Nice to have the aditional colors and resize of tiles. Wish it had bypassed the carrier and turned on ICS but oh well.
Custom ROMS
Does anyone know if this update works with a phone that currently has custom 7.8 on? I am running the deepshining 7.8ROM and is there much point in getting the official update? Does it fix the delay in opening apps?
Thanks

Still no update? I have an at&t Lumia 900 and got a message today that an update is available. I think there was some issue with the update earlier this year and they halted the roll out so they could fix something. Once the fix was made I guess they started rolling out the update slowly. I actually called at&t a couple of weeks ago and the guy I spoke with was clueless about Windows Phone 7.8. He kept swearing my phone was up to day. Then he put me on hold and spoke to several other people who were about as clueless. I really don't understand why people work in tech support if they have no interest in the device they are supporting.
Got It, But No Bluetooth Share
I got the update when plugging into Zune. No problems..However, still no availabilty of Nokia Bluetooth Share in the Marketplace. Marketplace still says not available for my device. I hate to say this, being a long time Windows Phone user, but this Bluetooth Share fiasco is a joke. Can no one get their act together any longer? I realize this is a Microsoft/Nokia issue but it is laughable now. Bluetooth Share continues to be hyped on the Nokia site as a benefit of 7.8. Well then, where is it?????????????????????????
I updated via Zune my ZTE Tania easy, in 15-20 minutes. New WP 7.8 is great, i like it.:highfive:

[Q] Black verizon htc one?

I have been wanting this phone ever since HTC announced it back in February. Now to finally have it available on verizon and its only offered in silver! I am so frustrated the way Verizon has handled this phone since day one and now this crap with one color to choose from! I have tried tweeting on verizons official tweet page asking if there will ever be a black version offered and if so when. Not one person has acknowledged me at all. Droid life reported that atleast one of there sources claims to have seen the black version. Whether thats true or not who knows? My question to anyone who reads this post....Do you know if there will be or ever will be a black version available on verizon?

I doubt it exists, currently. I mean think about it. There would more than likely be pictures of it if it did. And seeing as it's a 6 month old device already, I am guessing silver will be the only color we see, until there is a refresh of the HTC One.
So you have 3 options. Buy the silver and live with it. Wait and see if a black version comes for the current model, or a refreshed One, or get a different phone.
Kind of weird to only sell the silver, black is a very popular color for phones.
Verizon might opt to carry it sometime down the road.
There has also been talk of Verizon getting an exclusive blue model, just FYI.

If you get one from sprint then use the supercid you can have the red on big red! Or the black of course...
Or do what I'm doing and grab a black case. There are also some skins for both the front and rear of the htc one that can change the way it looks
