I have been wanting this phone ever since HTC announced it back in February. Now to finally have it available on verizon and its only offered in silver! I am so frustrated the way Verizon has handled this phone since day one and now this crap with one color to choose from! I have tried tweeting on verizons official tweet page asking if there will ever be a black version offered and if so when. Not one person has acknowledged me at all. Droid life reported that atleast one of there sources claims to have seen the black version. Whether thats true or not who knows? My question to anyone who reads this post....Do you know if there will be or ever will be a black version available on verizon?

I doubt it exists, currently. I mean think about it. There would more than likely be pictures of it if it did. And seeing as it's a 6 month old device already, I am guessing silver will be the only color we see, until there is a refresh of the HTC One.
So you have 3 options. Buy the silver and live with it. Wait and see if a black version comes for the current model, or a refreshed One, or get a different phone.
Kind of weird to only sell the silver, black is a very popular color for phones.
Verizon might opt to carry it sometime down the road.
There has also been talk of Verizon getting an exclusive blue model, just FYI.

Yeah i read that somewhere but it also said that could be a best buy exclusive. Which kinda makes since I guess. Just not for me i want black.
If you get one from sprint then use the supercid you can have the red on big red! Or the black of course...
Or do what I'm doing and grab a black case. There are also some skins for both the front and rear of the htc one that can change the way it looks

Its not that I don't believe you, its that I'm sad that there aren't any in my area. Plus I hope that you are wrong about the release date... Jul 22nd sounds better than Aug 8th
But what are your impressions on the phone? Is the T-mobile version just as nice looking as the Global version? do you like the lack of chrome?
& I'm fairly sure that T-mobiles touch pro2 will come in mocha color and black

I wish I can do that, but if in USA you guys have to wait till July or August, imagine in México!, we have to wait for our 3G version (in the best case scenario and if arrives...) till november!
So I´ll wait till be launched in USA and then decide if buy one of those nasty modifications models or to loose 3G with an european beauty.......
Hard descicion uh?
Just my personal thinking.
Cheers to all,
I have preordered a white Evo at BB. Any idea if these units would have already left HTC if they are due on the 11th. I am asking because it looks like the new updates blocks root with no solution just yet.
Anyone familiar with Best Buy know how early they receive product before launch date?
Also, I haven't heard anyone speculate that this device would be hardware version 04. Anyone else getting their hands on a white Evo on the 11??

Where have you heard that?
I really didn't want to start a new thread but the the current threads regarding the hopeful update were either from users outside of the US or they turned into a rant about about why the update hasn't come yet. The most prominent thread on the subject that I saw ended up as a discussion on the financials of Google and HTC which was less the useful.
I am not wondering why I haven't gotten my JB update yet. Actually I am but I know a little more about the scenario then a question like that would make you believe. I have been following the news about the update to the One X and I know that the the international ones with the Tegra 3 started to receive the update a few weeks ago. That got me hopeful that my ATT One X with the measly (in comparison) 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 would be updated quickly. Unfortunately that has not happened and despite my efforts to find any sort of information regarding my phone, the Tegra 3 version still seems to dominate the news.
I am wondering if anyone has heard any news or received any information on the update schedule with the less capable ATT One X? The only thing I have heard are unsubstantiated claims of mid November but those font even don't even explain which model they are referring to so I am still in the dark. A news article, blog post or even an idiot with a website that provides me with a clue to a timeline is better then nothing.

The problem you're going to face is that the carrier has to approve Jelly Bean. AT&T is notorious for taking FOREVER to approve updates for phones on their network. It could be an additional 6 months...there's truly no way at all to know. The only way to ensure you'll get updates relatively quickly is to get a carrier independent phone (i.e. an unlocked international version of the HOX in this case) or a Google-branded Nexus device. If you're not on something like that, which you of course are not, then you're pretty much stuck waiting for your carrier to give you permission to be updated.

This makes more sense after I did a bit of research. I had researched this phone for months but just now realized that the One X that I am using is basically only on the At&T network and some smaller networks. I was on Sprint before I moved to Alaska and was in love with the EVO 4G which had similar specs and is quite popular. Seems like the US version of the One X wasn't all that popular then. I am starting to be disappointed that I picked this over the S3.
The AT&T One X is actually a One XL, but at least you can change your CID to an unbranded one and get the update easily.

Well that is just too tempting. I have have rooted and loaded custom ROMs on all my past android phone (Google Nexus and HTC EVO) but this is the first one that I haven't really had a desire to load a custom rom on. Everything has worked perfectly so far. I can wait till the new year but I really don't want to.
Is there any news about the the update to my phone?
So I just discovered that there is an entire forum dedicated to my version of the One X. My bad....
Will there be a possibility of rooting the HTC One (or S-OFF)? From my understanding there will be a locked bootloader for this phone...:crying:
Vent: I'm sorry but I think this launch is the second worst launch (the worst being Galaxy Nexus on Verizon). If you look at the Verizon webpage there is NO indication of the HTC One whatsoever other than the email signup. People at Verizon are clueless (especially sales reps) as to release dates/inventory/colors/etc but the opposite is true for all the Droid phones which is plastered everywhere AND they haven't really released the phone until 8/27 (shipping date). If you ask sales people questions about any of the Droids its like they suddenly know everything about it and nothing about the HTC One. Its weird, if you were a carrier wouldn't you push ALL phones especially highly rated phones like the HTC One/iPhone/Galaxy S4. I'm not saying the Droid's aren't bad its just that...*sigh*

My boss had that phone. I was so jealous. Lol
That's the phone that started me on android, had two G1's, one rooted and one stock. Was fun back in those days with all the development going on. Cyanogen Mod and waiting for the weekly updates, can't remember who but I did some testing for one of the recoveries used on the G1.
I had an N1, but only after the original HTC Desire as that was more widely available in the UK and, after using both, somewhat more refined than the N1. That said, the physical trackball was far easier to use than the optical on the Desire.
I was also a fan of the Nexus S and its curved front, but I know I'm in the minority on that one

My first Android was the HTC Droid Eris (rooted, of course). The trackball was interesting although it gave me problems eventually, and I then had to abuse it to get it completely disabled instead of giving me the constant problems when I wasn't trying to use it.

Yes I had to go to Columbus, Oh. to buy the G1 because the Cincinnati area didn't have 3G and T-Mobile only sold the phone in 3G coverage areas.

I am. Rooted my HTC G1 and loved it. Then the Nexus One was launching and at the time my phone was still fairly new considering how long we used to keep them before smart phones.
Since my wife (gf then) wanted to save money on our bill she got this garbage Samsung dumb phone when I got the G1. So when the Nexus launched I had zero issue buying it immediately because she HATED that phone and wanted mine.
Can't blame me, I tried to talk her into a G1 (she later upgraded to a Rezound, god I miss HTC) she wouldn't budge though lol.
I would be constantly flashing new firmware and Kernel's on my Nexus. I barely ever used it I was doing it so often just because of how cool it was. Eventually the scene started to slow down and I got a couple non Google phones then a pixel xl which was my last until the 6 pro. My least fav Nexus was the Samsung Galaxy Nexus... Go figure since the last 3 phones I've had and come to eventually hate were all Samsung snapdragon devices that couldn't be rooted. I should have imported one instead. Apparently there is a method but it's not public afaik and it costs too much to be worth it and you have to mail them your phone... No ty.
Hopefully Google doesn't start preventing modification because that would be a damn shame. Seeing where the scene is today compared to then is already hard enough. We went from too many firmwares and Kernel's to not enough and it seemed to happen really fast too. I had a bad feeling the day they announced cyanogen was going to come pre installed on whatever that phone was. So many other people based their modified firmware on cyanogen but the tweaks some of them made were genius. Stuff Google is just adding now.
The only bad memory of the scene I have is when I bought an nVidia shield portable off of eBay and the guy didn't say that he installed lineage to it and I don't remember if I couldn't get it back to it's original state for some reason or what but I was not happy, especially since those things were rare and I had found one in we great shape but I couldn't use anything but moonlight on it... Owell.
