It looks like the ribbon cable running from the screen to the MB is flaking out on my Slide. I have experience taking phones apart so I'm not worried about that.
Does anyone know where to get another cable?
No?
Does anyone have a Slide that may be broken but has a good cable they would be willing to sell?
Try ebay. I had a slide, but the ribbon cable broke on it and I sold it for like $15 for parts.

Hello,
Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement flex cable for the slide? I purchased a phone off ebay, and found that the cable is bad.
Thanks
I'd suggest googling "mytouch slide flex cable"...I'd do it and post a link but I'm not allowed yet
Thanks for the suggestion. Tried that out, no luck unfortunately.
Bestbuy, Walmart and so on. A lot of places have the USB you're looking for, hell, it's the same one all newer blackberry's use too. It shouldn't be too hard to come across.
Maybe try... amazon.com. Seen them on there before and ebay sux anyway, it's a www.ripoff.com kind of site for the most part.
if you're looking for a USB cable. do a google search for "Micro USB cable" they look like $1 and up.
If you're not looking for USB...no clue
Its not the USB cable. I'm looking for the main cable that connects the LCD, touch assembly, and motherboard.
Hey dude I need one too. I found it on internet but you have to buy minimum of two.
One cost $60 and two would be $120
If you are sure about this then I can buy two and sell you one.

Thanks
So I'm on my 2nd EVO, a refurb, since my original EVO had its USB port snap off its motherboard. With this new EVO I'm trying to be more careful, but I've noticed something.
A couple of months ago I purchased these:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/r...zon.com/gp/product/B003PD80X8/ref=oss_product
So I could charge the EVO at work and in the car. I've noticed, however, that they go into the port and come out more securely than the one that came with the EVO, yet with more force needed to insert and remove the cord.
Is it possible that using these cords is what caused my USB port to separate from the motherboard, or am I just being paranoid?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
I wouldn't think so. I had my charger replaced at the sprint store that wasn't an oem evo charger. I noticed that it was a bit more snug though.
Yeah, I'm not sure now. These are very snug, which I'd like to think is a good thing.
Yeah. My oem charger was too lose and would lose connection.
If the cable is out of specification then yes.
How would I know if it's out of specification?
Also, where can I get a proper USB replacement cable?
I recently took apart my Gnex to replace the USB flex cable. When I put it back together it wouldn't pick up any signal. I have determined that it is a bad antenna cable. I have looked all over but can't find one. Does anyone know of a phone that uses a similar cable of a similar length, or where to buy any oem part? (The Gnex uses one that is 85mm). Thanks.
Did it fix the problem?

I just replaced the display on my gnex due to broken glass and am having the same problem. I think I may have pinched the antenna wire. Did replacing the wire work? Or was it something else? Thanks!
Greetings.
I have a G2 that i bought for $50 for my wife that has an inoperable touchscreen..
I recently fixed my own G2 (with another G2 i bought for parts) which had a faulty flex cable and so i thought i'd fix my wife's with the extra parts.
The digitizer is good on the phone, I tested it by taking apart my own G2. The flex cable only has a very small cut, but the display is not affected at all.
I narrowed it down to the whole Flex cable assembly though, i'm not sure if its not reading the digitizer right or what.
I have another Flex cable assembly with a broken flex cable (but the rest of it works, i think)
Is there any way I can fix it?
Don't want to spend $20 on another flex cable.
In short, i have One G2 "for parts" that has a broken flex cable, trying to fix another G2 with unresponsive touchscreen.
sounds like you answered your own question, unless you can fix the flex cable you will need to get a new one. the only other possibility (from what youre saying) is its a software problem, but i doubt it
Well I wanted to know if I could maybe replace just the flex cable part of the flex cable assembly. If not, then I will probably have to buy the whole thing

unless by "flex cable assembly" you mean separate the flex cable from the chassis, no you cant easily fix part of the flex, its all one massive cable
Yes, that is exactly what I meant. Damn.
Thank you. Now I'm off to buy a flex cable... woo...

so if you buy the flex seperate from the chasis it may be helpful to get some of the super thin 3m tape to adhere it. using standard tape (like scotch) is a pain. the 3m stuff is cheap, super thin, double sided, and you can get precut strips. its easy to find on ebay

Recently my plays flex cablw bit the biscuit so I took it apart and removed the old flex. I got my new one im the mail the otherday and installed it with some trouble, as some of you may know the cable is very hard to feed through the small hole in the sliding tray.
My problem is that now the backlight only works on and off and the touchscreen wont function nothing is damaged. When I pushed the flex cable through I think I kinked it a bit maybe I ruined it? Here Is my question is there. Way to get the flex cable in without damage? Does the plastic. Connector on the cable come off? Any insight from people who have done this would help
NOW FOR MY last question is there a tougher flex cable out there I.can buy because In a few months to a year it will just break again.
