I recently took apart my Gnex to replace the USB flex cable. When I put it back together it wouldn't pick up any signal. I have determined that it is a bad antenna cable. I have looked all over but can't find one. Does anyone know of a phone that uses a similar cable of a similar length, or where to buy any oem part? (The Gnex uses one that is 85mm). Thanks.
Did it fix the problem?

I just replaced the display on my gnex due to broken glass and am having the same problem. I think I may have pinched the antenna wire. Did replacing the wire work? Or was it something else? Thanks!

The micro-USB connector on my HTC Desire is damaged. Charging is not a problem. However, trying to connect it to a computer causes shows flaky behavior. I took it into the vendor who are estimating a charge of $140 to fix it.
I can solder/desolder the connector quite easily as I have SMT facilities at work.
I would like to source the connector first however.
Anyone know the part number or where I can source one from?
Hi
try to sample one from eg Molex.com
I think you have to pay for the shipping oid

Good luck
Thanks.
Would be good to get a more definitive part. Dont want to desolder and realize I have the wrong part.
Has anyone seen the unsoldered PCB footprint for the device?
Is the connector a bottom or midmount?
Images taken from the HTC disassembly video (is on youtube)
But maybe there's just a cold solder joint and you don't have to replace the whole connector.
Thanks. Those pictures are neat. I took some of my own after opening up the back casing.
The damage is inside the connector (the cable wont stay connected). So not a dry solder joint problem.
I guess I could try and buy a few different connectors and try to see which fits.
So after having the "Charging" issue when the phone wasn't plugged in anymore and sick of always having to bend the tab inside to clear the charging status, I decided to order a replacement flex cable from wholesalegadgetparts.com
I ordered this flex cable since I do in fact have a i515 CDMA.
After getting the cable and cracking open my phone, I'm surprised to see that cable does not have the same connections on it. It looks more like the i9250 cable that the site also sells. Cable1 Cable2
Does anyone else have this issue arise?
Which cable should I get now?
Thanks!
Bump for today. Really need some help with this!
I would get the one that your phone needs. The phone has been out for 6 months and Samsung has been manufacturing it for 8 probablly now. There is bound to have been some slight design changes.
Seems my USB port needs replacing, I first thought I may have had some lint or something inside there as it wouldn't charge but after checking with a flashlight one of the pins had bent completely.
The only thing I can find for the original desire is eBay ID 380759842289
Can anyone confirm if this is right, or where I could purchase one from the UK.
Are they hard to replace? Would it just be the case of removing the 2 lower t5 screws, taking the antenna out of way and then what? Are they soldered on or ribbon cable?
Cheers
I had a similar problem, my device couldn't connect via usb but it was able to charge, so my first thought was the same as yours (about the lint). I tried to clean it and I found something like a little wire which was out of its place.
I ordered a usb port (about 1.50 euros) for that model and I followed this guide on youtube to disassemble the device /watch?v=8sYB_AM_jHE
You have to dissolder the old one and then solder the new which is a little bit tricky. It Worked!
For the replacement parts you can search on ebay for htc desire g7 its the same or use google you will find a bunch of them.
I recently replaced the LED/glass/digitizer assembly of my E980, US version phone. The wi-fi antenna on the left side of the housing came loose near the bottom. It turns out that the connector was still in place but the wire was torn loose.
I see there are two connectors: one for the antenna already with the phone and then another smaller one next to it. Is the smaller one active? I have extra antenna cables from my Galaxy S4, but I just want to make sure that before I try it, that the port is actually active and not just a female connector that is a place holder for overseas variants of the phone.
Thanks very much.
hi,
i saw lot of threads/talks/vids online regarding the difference between the 2 available charging board flex and guidance regarding which one to buy, but i saw nowhere any explanation what are the actual antennas connected to this board are for.
does anybody know?
I've bought the wrong board (single antenna) before i knew there are 2 kinds.
I've connected only the white cable and checked phone. GPS won't work.
my follow question is - is it possible to dislove the antenna connector and the ground from the bad old board and assemble them to the new one?
thanks
