Hi All
I am trying to update a friends Desire HD (currently on Leedroid 2.3...) to the latest version 4.0...
I have downloaded ROM and Radio recommended, but when I run MD5 checks, NONE of the checksums match. I even downloaded a different MD5 checker, same result.
All files are in my PC but when I compare them none match.
Any clues / help?
Thanks for reading
Try downloading them again....
MD5's dont match when it doesnt download properly (some part of the file has been lost whilst downloading)...which is the whole point of the MD5 checker.
It has happened to me many times.
Now if you download a file 5-6 times and every time the MD5's dont match then either
1- You have a really bad and unreliable connection
or
2- The file on the server itself is wrong (i.e. the file that u want to download is corrupted and the person who put it there doesnt know that its corrupted).
But if many other people say that it matches for them, then its most likely from your connection.
Anyway, try downloading again....and make sure they match, if they dont, dont flash it...it'll damage or worse case scenario, brick your phone
Also some radio checksums are based on the extracted radio.img, not the zip/rar.

Thanks for the tips, will try again soon and report back. Never had a problem with other downloads.
I'm having the same problem and am totally and completely confused.
I'm totally new to this custom rom stuff and just rooted my phone and flashed the Revolution HD rom for my phone.
Everywhere I see to check MD5 sum before flashing and make sure it matches first. I honestly have no clue what this means but....I download the rom zip file to my sd card, and use astro file manager to check the md5 sum and it does not match what's listed by the developer on the download page ? I've done it twice now and both times the md5 does not match and both time the md5 numbers are different. What am I doing wrong here ? I haven't felt so confused in my life ?? Help please !

Try Hashdroid from the market, it covers all checksums not just md5.

what two codes are you trying to match ? The one uploader gave with the radio or what ?

Thought I'd throw this question out there because it's driving me nuts.
twice now when I download Culk's ROM straight from the epic and flash the ROM I'm forever stuck at the yellow triangle screen.
Same thing if I download a theme from the phone.
Kind of driving me nuts because I've never had this problem on my Evo.
Anyone have any ideas?
Also let me get the obvious out of the way, I use reformat all and clear all caches before flashing anything.
If I download the same zip files onto a computer first then transfer, I have no issues

Did you install a file manager ?
Download Astro and click the box to allow internet downloads when downloading files.

After downloading, always check the MD5 of the file to see if it matches what the dev posted for it (if it was posted).
I generally don't have an issue with currupted downloads. It either downloads good or it fails to download (some file sharing sites just won't work from the phone).
However, not long ago, i downloaded a ROM (strong steves actually) and it said successful. After flashing, I was stuck at logo and had to use odin to get back to where I was. I checked the MD5 of what I downloaded and it was indeed wrong. Downloaded it again, via the phone, checked the MD5 (correct this time) and flashed fine.
So weather you download on phone or pc, it's ALWAYS a good idea to check the md5. If the dev doesn't post the MD5, then download it, rename it and download it again and compare the two. That's much easier than having to go back to odin to fix a problem caused by a currupted download.
I have never had good luck trying to download themes or roms from the phone. They always come out corrupt. Best way is to download it from the computer and transfer it via usb cable never wireless. That has also caused me allot of problems.
Trucking, yes. Sometimes you get lucky and the download on the phone isn't corrupted. Don't know how bad it is or if it's easily fixable. I had to start all over again, many times, with Odin flash.
Hey guys im having a bit of an issue when trying to flash the official FCO6 Stock rom through odin. I have v1.85 and 1.87 and both show the same thing. I have the victory pit file and the SPH-D700-FC09-8GB-REL.TAR.MD5 file both on my desktop but when my phone is plugged in and ready to go, and I click PDA on odin and go to desktop, it isn't their. The victory file shows up and I place that In it's correct place but the md5 does not. No matter where I put it? anyone have any suggestions so I can odin my phone?
try erasing the .md5 part at the end
Try the phone slot instead.

Hey guys I have this exact same problem right now. My phone is in a bootloop so I am trying to odin back to stock but the FC09 file will not show up. I have tried removing the .md5 as well but that does not work either. I have tried deleting and re-downloading 3 times. I know the file is there 100% and I know I am looking in the right folder 100%.
edit: this is odin 1.87 and I have tried the phone slot with the same results.
edit #2: I am sure someone else will run into this problem someday since two of us have. Apparently this is the only file you will ever unzip. I have it so ground into my head to never unzip anything I didn't think of that

Try the updated version of Odin. http://db.tt/OIEtTUxn
I am just trying to flash 'stock firmware' obtained from sammobile.
When I browse the file in "pda field", an error "Parameter is Incorrect" shows up!
Some version of stock firmware (of the same country) have this problem.
Problem exists even I redownload it again and extracted...
What happened with this?
Some recommended that removing .md5 (leaving it xxx.tar) will do! and it works!
But wouldn't that be risky? No md5 checksum? How does this problem exist in the first place?
Thanks very much
any idea?
Try to download using another browser like chrome or opera, dont remove md5

I have the same problem as well with the BTU stock rom. seems like no one can answer this question
same here. it doesnt wanna accept the firmware
.md5 is just an extension
it doesn't means that adding .md5 to any file will make it have a checksum.
removing it shouldn't bother as long as it's checksums , the actual checksums remain same.

Two of the possible culprits:
TWRP is set to check the md5sum. TWRP has the option of checking the md5sum for you. I believe the option is called "verify zip file md5sum" or something like that. The problem is that this only works if the zip has an md5sum included in it, which most Roms don't (typically they leave it up to you to check the md5sum). Make sure that the option is disabled prior to flashing the Rom.
Your download of the zip got corrupted. Sometimes the ROM zip files don't download correctly (especially with larger zips). It's relatively common, and it's also why I always download on my computer and then transfer to my phone (my computer seems more reliable when it comes to these large files). You can check the md5sum on the phone using ES File Explorer or on your (windows) computer using an app like this one. There are checkers for linux and mac, but I don't have them (google will be your friend for those).
Hope these help!
Hey thanks alot but I actually figured out the problem and it installed pacman rom... but I seem to have the same problem with every rom I have installed my 3g/4g network won't connect... I do have the sprint version of the gs3 but my service is with c spire could this be my problem...any ideas?

I'm really not experienced with phones that are used for other carriers, but from what I heard, it shouldn't matter if you flash a new ROM once you have your phone working on the other carrier. If you have a nandroid backup you can restore it to see if that's the issue. Other than that, you might have to follow the steps you originally took to get it working on Cspire.
I didn't do anything to make it work with cspire cspire is my stock

I use TWRP v2.5
I Wipe/Format Data, because some of my apps wasn't functioning.
When I tried to install new rom it fails it (check picture below)
I did try to use odin to install factory rom and stuff , but it failed (Check picture below)
I believe it's USB-otg that have problem not connecting with computer and It won't mount in TWRP
Any help will be awesome!

odin v1.85
I've tried jediX20 and stock 4.3 rom.
flashing failed, because of USB-OTG issue
try reinstalling your usb drivers for your phone on yer pc. as far as the roms go make sure the md5's match. might try the new jedi open source project. it's 4.4.4 to. see if it fails. if you can boot into recovery i don't think yer phone is bricked. just check the md5 on the rom your trying. a bad d/l will cause a fail.
btw if you look at odin in your pic you'll see it failed the md5 check which means your d/l is bad. it's a large file though and happens.
I've already downloaded usb driver for my phone, no good
still get same fail error after moving file into phone and taking out micro sd cards
i don't think its the Operating system that's causing problem.

any idea what file to use on odin? i dont think how to use it properly, I just know real basics
ok from what i read on usb-otg it only controls how your phone is perceived to another device when plugged in. ie. to pc it'll show as a master or slave device. only reason i can see for a failing rom is a bad d/l, i know from pics you posted that the stock 4.3 image you have failed the md5 check so it is a bad d/l.
basically you got me. maybe someone else will chime in here with something i am missing or a little more knowledge.
