I am just trying to flash 'stock firmware' obtained from sammobile.
When I browse the file in "pda field", an error "Parameter is Incorrect" shows up!
Some version of stock firmware (of the same country) have this problem.
Problem exists even I redownload it again and extracted...
What happened with this?
Some recommended that removing .md5 (leaving it xxx.tar) will do! and it works!
But wouldn't that be risky? No md5 checksum? How does this problem exist in the first place?
Thanks very much
any idea?
Try to download using another browser like chrome or opera, dont remove md5

I have the same problem as well with the BTU stock rom. seems like no one can answer this question
same here. it doesnt wanna accept the firmware
.md5 is just an extension
it doesn't means that adding .md5 to any file will make it have a checksum.
removing it shouldn't bother as long as it's checksums , the actual checksums remain same.

Hi All
I am trying to update a friends Desire HD (currently on Leedroid 2.3...) to the latest version 4.0...
I have downloaded ROM and Radio recommended, but when I run MD5 checks, NONE of the checksums match. I even downloaded a different MD5 checker, same result.
All files are in my PC but when I compare them none match.
Any clues / help?
Thanks for reading
Try downloading them again....
MD5's dont match when it doesnt download properly (some part of the file has been lost whilst downloading)...which is the whole point of the MD5 checker.
It has happened to me many times.
Now if you download a file 5-6 times and every time the MD5's dont match then either
1- You have a really bad and unreliable connection
or
2- The file on the server itself is wrong (i.e. the file that u want to download is corrupted and the person who put it there doesnt know that its corrupted).
But if many other people say that it matches for them, then its most likely from your connection.
Anyway, try downloading again....and make sure they match, if they dont, dont flash it...it'll damage or worse case scenario, brick your phone
Also some radio checksums are based on the extracted radio.img, not the zip/rar.
Sent from The App that Time Forgot.
Thanks for the tips, will try again soon and report back. Never had a problem with other downloads.
I'm having the same problem and am totally and completely confused.
I'm totally new to this custom rom stuff and just rooted my phone and flashed the Revolution HD rom for my phone.
Everywhere I see to check MD5 sum before flashing and make sure it matches first. I honestly have no clue what this means but....I download the rom zip file to my sd card, and use astro file manager to check the md5 sum and it does not match what's listed by the developer on the download page ? I've done it twice now and both times the md5 does not match and both time the md5 numbers are different. What am I doing wrong here ? I haven't felt so confused in my life ?? Help please !

Try Hashdroid from the market, it covers all checksums not just md5.

what two codes are you trying to match ? The one uploader gave with the radio or what ?

try not to download multiple files. thats what worked for me. just a thought guys. sorry if this was already mentioned, dont mean to repeat.
don't unzip.
Hey guys im having a bit of an issue when trying to flash the official FCO6 Stock rom through odin. I have v1.85 and 1.87 and both show the same thing. I have the victory pit file and the SPH-D700-FC09-8GB-REL.TAR.MD5 file both on my desktop but when my phone is plugged in and ready to go, and I click PDA on odin and go to desktop, it isn't their. The victory file shows up and I place that In it's correct place but the md5 does not. No matter where I put it? anyone have any suggestions so I can odin my phone?
try erasing the .md5 part at the end
Try the phone slot instead.

Hey guys I have this exact same problem right now. My phone is in a bootloop so I am trying to odin back to stock but the FC09 file will not show up. I have tried removing the .md5 as well but that does not work either. I have tried deleting and re-downloading 3 times. I know the file is there 100% and I know I am looking in the right folder 100%.
edit: this is odin 1.87 and I have tried the phone slot with the same results.
edit #2: I am sure someone else will run into this problem someday since two of us have. Apparently this is the only file you will ever unzip. I have it so ground into my head to never unzip anything I didn't think of that

Try the updated version of Odin. http://db.tt/OIEtTUxn
Hello,
I'm struggeling for a while now with a Galaxy Ace 2 (I8160). It started with "hanging" in the bootscreen (logo and type). Recovery mode was not accessable. Downlaod mode was accessable. Connection with the much beloved KIES was not possible. However connection with ODIN 3.07 no problem. So I downlaoded the appropriate Andriod (4.2) file with the XEN (Dutch) countrycode. After extracting it became a single tar.MD5 file of some 800 kB.
As said ODIN connected to the Ace and reported the file entered in PDA "valid" and said "Checking MD5 successfully".
After pressing start the following announcements came:
> Get PIT for mapping
> Firmware update start
> Kernel.bin.MD5
> NAND write start
And after waiting for a long time.
> Complete (write) operation failed.
After this the ACE became even more stuborn. Most of the times after (it doen not matter whether normal, or downlaod or restore mode) start up it reports that "Firmware upgrade encounterd an issue" and it requires me to go to KIES, which I cannot access.
Sometimes I'm Lucky and the ACE enters into the downloadmode. If so I tried to reflash again with a different version of ODIN but without any luck. It just does not work.
Does anyone have a suggestion what to do? Should I see any grafic inidication of progress in ODIN while the flashing progress is going on?
Kind regards,
Dave
We don't have androod 4.2 stock
Maybe you used The wrong file, dont use kies to update either

Repartition and reflash with 3-part firmware (like MB4.zip -- PIT in PIT, CODE in PDA, CSC in CSC)
Also, the "use Kies to repair" screen is download mode (with a different logo)

Hello,
Thank you for your answers. I mis-typed the Android version. It was 4.1.2. I downloaded it as a Stock File named XEN-I8160XXMF1020130727121805.ZIP (540 kB). Extracted it produces only one single file (*.tar.MD5) of about 912 kB. This file was placed in de PDA category of Odin, with no luck.
Until now I cannot find a 3-part firmwarefile. I have been Googling for the MB4.zip, but can only find rubish and no clean version. I also heard the suggestion that there might be differences between firmware for the I8160P and I8160I version. However cannot find these different files. The file name as mentioned above (I8160XX) seems tot suggest it is suitable for multiple types. Hope somebody can help me out.
Regards,
Dave

I found the files a while ago. However the Ace 2 ran out of battery. I charged the battery manually. For some reason the Phone did not want to start at all anymore. So I finally decided to sent it to the Samsung service station as it was still within the quarantee time. I just received it back and the repair note said: Board replaced and software updated. So it might have been an harware issue after all!?
Nonetheless thank you all for your input.
Greetings,dave
They probably didn't want to bother repairing it on site
(JTAG is quite slow, I've heard, and they're not hobbyists who can afford the time of experimenting assuming they can get parts for free...)
Hello all *waves*
This is my very first post although I have used this site countless times. I'm just going to jump right to it because I seriously need some help!
I am trying to fix my SGH-M919 (Tmobile S4) that just suddenly stopped working one day. I have tried EVERYTHING! Kies, custom roms, Odin but my phone still will not load past the Samsung logo. It will boot into recovery (TWRP) and Download mode. I know that using Kies is the quick fix but (LUCKY ME...not) my phone is one of the few phones tmobile/Samsung sent out with no S/N on the sticker under the battery. Since I cant get into my phone I cant get the S/N and I do not have the box anymore.
I have tried using the many sgh-m919 Stock Rom files online, including this site, but nothing is working. When I spend hours downloading them and begin to use them in odin, Odin doesn't load the file for me to flash.
I know I am using Odin correctly because I have done it successfully countless times in the past. I have also tried EVERY download file out there, but I can't find a good one that I can flash in Odin. I have also tried all of the guides on this site several times so please don't redirect me to them, because I have seriously and correctly tried them all. If you have any suggestion please let me know. I can't afford the 161.00 Samsung is requiring or the 175 warranty fee tmobile is charging. PLEASE HELP.
And if some has a good copy of the Stock Rom for SGH-M919 that they would be willing to email me I would FOREVER be greatful!
also my sdcard and battery are not the issue.... tried that too
Thanks,
Nikki
Were there any symptoms or anything you may have done out of the ordinary that might or might not have caused the problem? By saying that odin will not load files, is there an error message or what exactly do you mean by that? And what version odin are you using?

I don't know if its something I have done wrong or not. I followed all of the instructions to the letter. I think (but am not sure) that I don't have a usable copy of the Stock Firmware.
I am using v3.10 but I have tried them all.
When I click on AP in Odin, then click on the file I am sent back to Odin, but the file (and filename) doesn't appear in the AP box like normal.
The stock firmware files take a while for odin to validate md5 check I think. Select your firmware file in Odin's selector, then wait a few mins for bit to process before giving up. This time lag surprised me first time I flashed stock firmware. Big file means longer wait!

The longest I have waited has been an hour, do you think that I should still wait longer?
Try different version of odin. Even if the file was bad, it would say something
Try a different pc.

Good evening folks. I hope I'm posting in the correct place.
First id like to start off thanking everyone for whatever help I can get. I know I've come to the place where I can get some help.
I apologize in advance If I'm lacking any info in my post.
I REALLY NEED HELP.:crying::crying::crying:
I have a rooted metro pcs galaxy s4
I have recently started having a really slow phone. Slow is a understatement actually.
Everything freezes up and I cant do anything with it. I DO have root access.
Anything I try to do such as enter the phone settings, an app or simply try make a call just seems to take a ton of processing power and eventually glitches or freezes up and force closes themselves.
It reminds me of a computer that doesn't have enough memory in it.
I installed some app in the play store that required root access called adjbrightness and ever since then my phone has been crazy slow with apps and services crashing.
I cannot be certain this app had anythinto do with my problem though.
I cant even make a call Its soooo bad.. GGRRrrrrrrrrr......:crying::crying::crying:
I installed one click kango root about a month ago and definitely haven't had any problems until about a week or so ago.
Since then iv tried everything. I'm pretty good with android phones too. I'm always helping ppl fix slow phones or computers.
I fear I may have force stopped or disabled a critical system function or service by accident.
Iv done the following already...
-Factory reset first then uninstalled the root.
-Ever since I unrooted today, I am unsure if I can or should or even could do a factory reset now. Because if I try to do it upon reboot, a warning states that installing custom roms can be damaging to my phone. Um.... Yikes!
-I formatted and removed my SD card.
-Prior to unrooting I did do factory reset several times without results.
I'm really freaking out.
I know this was something that could happen upon rooting as a risk I was taking.
I feel this issue was somehow due to the root access ultimately and that something in the rom (or what not) is glitching badly or some code is just missing.
- I never installed custom rom or messed with the rom that I know of.
-I never messed with any kernels or clocking methods because that's all too scary for me.
-I really didn't mess with things I didn't understand.
I rooted mainly to save battery and ditch some factory bloatware. I'm sure yall can relate.
Oh and I didn't download anything from porn sites, don't worry. HAHA.
Pleeeeeeese, please PLEASE, help lead me on the right path and I will be your best friend for ever.... I just haven't a clue what the issue could be. :crying::crying::crying:
Thank you so much for any and all help in advance.
THX!!!!! K++

I would suggest you download the latest metropcs firmware for your device and flash with Odin. Don't worry about the warning, it's supposed to say that. Hopefully you don't have any important info or media that you haven't backed up. If so, back it up before you flash. After the flash, boot straight into recovery and do a factory reset. After that you will start off fresh and your phone should be back to normal

Just saw this right now and if you still need help I might be able to help. I'm also on MetroPCS. That firmware you downloaded is a t-mobile one and I'm not sure what version it is but download the stock one from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...tock-base-metropcs-4-4-4-fni3-galaxy-t2899701 then flash it in Odin . After flashing it set it up and all that stuff and do the software update. It'll update your modem to NK3 which is the latest. I'd say use it for about a week and see if it's good or you can just root it right away if you want. I used CF auto root for M919 to root my M919N (MetroPCS version of the S4). For recovery I use TWRP jfltmo. After that just make a backup and keep it on your computer or SD card just incase something happens again so you can flash the backup. If you want to flash a ROM I recommend Hispasian ROM (currently using) or Insane Hybrid. Both are really stable and fast ROMS.
Howdy folks, I want to start off saying that Thank you so much for helping me. XDA is a awesome place.
"lordodin" is helping me with this issue in another thread i created although I amgetting anxious to figure this out as i cannot make any calls on my phone and today's my day off work. I hope I am not being too rude by posting my question here too.
-Im following the instructions in the official T-Mobile SGS4 thread in order to run odin here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2258628
I have odin 3.9 (and 3.07) and know to select the tar file with PDA/AD button.
although i cannot find the tar file.,
I know the fix tp this lies n the step requiring me to extract the tar file from the 7zip/zip archive,
yet I see no file with that 7zip/zip name or extension to do so. Im honestly tried everything AAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGG!!!
I downloaded all files needed.... triangle away, odin zip, and the mdl zip.
I placed all rooting files on desktop to locate easier and I am always running odin in admin.
I see the issue was solved somewhere else by completing the step requiring to me to extract the tar file from the 7zip/zip archive this step is confusing the heck out of me.....
I even download the 7zip unpacking program from the web hoping it may recognize a TAR file I may have missed with no avail. . Is 7zip a file type?
When i unpack the odin file all i see is the following
-Odin3 v3.07 (or the 3.9 version respectively)(application)
-Odin3(configuration setting)
-tmax.dll(app extention)
-zlib.dll(app extention)
As i said "lordodin" is helping me in another thread with this very issue which is super appreciated. Thx lordodin!!!!
AARRRRG please help folks. Iv been reading everywhere and im stuck....
