I'm also facing the same problem, having just installed RC 1.5, but as Quarx says in his post:
BugList: Some people say that they have wifi problems
I searched the forum for 'wifi CM' and a lot of threads came up. There are some ideas to try, I'm currently trying:
Delete the file /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf and reboot. (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161460&highlight=cm+wifi)
Seems better, but it had been only 15 min so far.
I have same issue.
I think is a kernel problem. Iflashed msginger. It is based in another kernel(leaked). Wifi works well but i have green lens and camera doesnt work.
I'm now using 110927 nightly and I don't see the disconnect issue anymore, and the weak signal seems to be gone too. Good enough to be using it as my main ROM.
same problem with cm7.1 Quarx with no nightlys
Weak wifi signal + GPS not working !?
But overall its the best rom ever tried with smothness and stability and i never got FC for about 5 days
Thanks Quarx you are the Defy monster

there have been pletny of GPS threads, obviously. but im wondering what you guys did to fix yout GPS on cm7? my gps worked in the past, but recently when i flashed RC4, the GPS stopped working. and i flashed the latest nightly and it is not working as well. i just baffles me because it worked in earlier builds, and you would figure it would work in more stable builds.
so.
what have you guys done to fix your GPS/what nightly are you on?
As an avid Foursquare user I use GPS every day, several times a day, these GPS issues are the main reason I'm still on the stock ROM.
i know what you mean. my GPS works on sense based roms, which is great. im not sure whyyyy its not working on CM7.

First things first: No indicator on notification bar when starting GPS traffic assist application?
Then you are living under a rock or having bad reception. Go outside. Using some kind of widget which uses GPS also and has a on/off switch in it? Try switching off and reboot. It simply should work with the latest nightlies. Try reflashing and fix permissions. Do not wipe your entire phone before flashing.
Doesn't work for me either with RC 2 or RC 4. I've tried some of the fixes out but no joy. I know how to use it and it works fine when I go back to stock. Issue is definitely with my CM 7 install. I'm hoping for a solution soon as this my only issue, but it's a big one for me.

GPS works for me (screen shot included)
I don't use the navigation much but if I understand the program gpsstatus, it is working for me. I have used CM7 RC2 and RC4 (which is what I am on).

That's right, yours is working fine. If the GPS is "broken", you won't have any activity on GPS Status. No green dots for the satellites on the round display, and no bars on the bar graph below that. Those will be blank, and you never get lat/long coordinates
It's still working for me on RC4, but locking takes about a minute, whereas it was almost instant on stock.
CM7 definitely does something to gps, very weird how everyone is getting different results.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
had problems with gps locking on stock radio with cm 6.1.1 after flashing .27 i get almost instant lock in the house, that did not happen with stock rom or radio.
but my wifes with stock radio and rom did that from the box
both g2
GPS doesn't work at all for me in CM7-RC4 (I mean nothing, no signals or indicators or anything). Works fine in CM6.
I believe I'm currently running the "stock" T-mo OTA radio 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M and haven't tried a different one. Think changing that might help? I don't understand why some people have it working with this radio but not others.
Edit:
OK, I got it working. I had first installed CM7-RC4 using clockwork recovery (in the boot menu) after wiping out the stock ROM. GPS didn't work so I installed CM6 using ROM manager. GPS worked. I then installed CM7-RC4 using ROM manager and voilà, GPS works in CM7-RC4 now. I have no idea what the difference is.
Try .27 worked for me on cm 611 , just flashed the new one, works great, satellites get higher value on GPS test

Sorry, didn't see your post after mine. I edited mine to show that I got it working simply by downgrading to CM6 then upgrading to CM7. Could be a ROM Manager thing or maybe something left over from how CM6 configured the hardware, or who knows.
I do wish CM7 was more stable though, seems kind of wonky.
I had the same problem with CM7. Download gps.vision.so from either nightly #4 or nightly #34. Open up adb:
adb remount
adb push gps.vision.so /system/lib/hw
adb reboot
GPS should work after that.
Radio .26, CM7 RC4, flashed also the "auto-patcher" that patches files to your ROM based on what radio you have.
Hi there,
I installed CM7 on my nonblur defy and get to see that WIFI signal is much weaker comapring with my last rom Froyo 2.2.2. I am standing near my router and even here i don't have full signal vs Froyo wich i had full signal in every room from my house. Can i somehow fix this, is there any patch for fixiing this? Is there anyone else having this issue?
thanks for replys
Use cm7 rc 1.5
Got a Headache? It's all in your Head.
try reflash the rom untill it works
I faced the same prolem
you won't find answer since the developers would not acknowledge there's a problem. we must be the unlucky ones having dud defy that won't play well with gingerbread.....
edit: hey, just updated to cm7 nightly 110909 and wifi seems ok. lazy to go back to froyo to compare. so don't know if it performs the same. try it, op. the only thing i'm still not happy with cm7 is the earlier builds consumed about 13% (estimated) of battery life each day is now about 20%

I installed CM for the first time with nightly 110911 and had the wifi issues. Not only disconnects, but as I have two defys, one running CM and the other 2.2, it is clear the difference in the signal strengths when they are side by side.
In Quarx's post he does acknowledge:
BugList:
Some people say that they have wifi problems
I've tried: Delete the file /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf and reboot. from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161460&highlight=cm+wifi
It's been just 20 minutes, but so far so good. Signal strength is comparable and no disconnects so far. We'll see...
Update: I guess it's some sort of intermittent problem as I didn't have it anymore. Now I'm using 110927 nightly and I don't see disconnects anymore, but sometimes it takes a long time to reconnect, but very seldom, compared to 110911 nightly.

i've since move on to miui 1.9.9 and wifi signal is much better. in fact im quite sure it is as good as froyo. i never have drop-out problem with cm7 rc1.5, just weaker signal than froyo. so i guess my defy is not having as serious a problem as yours. (actually it will drop out if i'm further away from the modem when the signal became too weak).
i'll give measel's solution a go when i have some time later. very interested to see if it works. oh and good luck. i really hope it works
Quarx just said some people have wifi problem. so he obviously have not seen it personally. as such i don't think he can work out what's wrong since he has nothing to work on. if measel's solution works then maybe it might give him a clue as to what the problem was.
just find it strange that if rc0 did not have the problem why rc1? surely he could work out the difference between the 2?
edit: tried deleting the file but it didn't do anything for me. still the same. also tried the latest nightly 110914 without any luck.
I have same problem.I flashed CM7 nightly 110928 and find wifi signal is weaker than stock rom. even my defy is near the router and signal is still not full.
From the similar threads, I believe my problem aligns with this problem on the EVO: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226119
When I have wifi disabled, my bluetooth HID keyboard will stay connected probably 80% of the time. However, it starts going in and out the moment I'm not typing if wifi is on(stay connected at most 20% of time). This problem did seem to come around when I switched over from CM7.1 stable to nightlies (currently running official nightly 2/26). According to the related thread, I might be able to fix it by changing the kernel I'm using. Is there a good recommended kernel to move to? Is there any possibility that the radio could be causing this problem? I'm running the latest T-Mobile OTA radio.
I found a kernel that seems to fix the issue. The ILWT CM7 kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242480 seems to not be rapidly connecting/disconnecting for the time being. I will post again if it isn't a permanent fix.
Well that didn't work...anyone have other solutions for a kernel?
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
I really like ILWT cm7 rom, but the thing is I can't get gps to work in it. In all other roms gps works but not it this one. Before flashing rom I have used supervipeG2+4ext, and I have tried several radios with no luck... And I have also tried different settings in ILWT.txt file. + I have flashed and downloaded rom several times so I don't think that it is a bad file/flash. Any ideas how to get gps working?
The following AGPS patch gave me much faster GPS lock on ILWT. But I've never experienced no lock. It went from taking a minute or 2 to lock, to now getting GPS lock within seconds (sometimes less than 5 seconds). I flashed the "Google Specific" build.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472870
If you haven't seen the following thread, it may also be helpful. I can't vouch for it at all, as I haven't tried it. I know its been a known problem on CM7 build for some people, for as long as I can recall. But I've personally never had an issue on various CM7 and ILWT builds getting no GPS lock whatsoever.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028405
The issue has been discussed in various other threads, too. So just do a search. Have you searched the ILWT thread in particular?
Ok I am going to try those later today or tomorrow... And yes I have tried to search, and found few posts with same issues, but didn't find solutions for the problem.

First one.

Hi,
I`m not allowed to comment on the dev thread so I`m doing it here...
I love slimroms and I`ve been using it since SlimBean is out there, thanks for everyone doing the hard work!
Since I updated to SlimKat, my GPS doesn`t work, no satellites reception at all. I tried to look for errors over adb and saw that the error is No XTRA servers available...
Just to confirm, I flushed few other CM roms and GPS is working perfectly in these, so the problem is in SlimKat only.
I saw few references in the dev thread but nobody said anything about possible solution.
Would be happy to go back to SlimKat once this problem solved.
Does anybody else have this problem? Any solution?
Thanks.
Any answers? Solution? Anyone?
Can anyone take a working GPS code from any of the other CM roms?
Still doesn't work on new build 2.4
see attached logs.
yeah, this is broken for me too. if i have data and wifi on i can still get a location fix though in the city, but not outside of the city.
GPS Location not working SGH T989 Slimkat
I am having the same issue on my T989, and am looking for a possible solution. I've enabled high accuracy and even enabled the wifi and what not. However, I still cannot get a location. I'm gonna have to switch to another ROM until the issue is resolved, but I don't really want to So if anyone from anywhere can help me fix this issue, It'd help out a lot...
i am having the same issue, can't patch agps too having status 0. it doesn't work when i try copying that files in /etc myself
GPS + Camera issue
Other than the GPS issue, what about camera? The camera does not work for me in Hangouts or Skype (SlimKat).
No camera and no GPS. Try carbon Rom 4.4.2 if you want those to work. Just as smooth.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Yeah there really is no point in these posts because even the developer has established that SlimKat has issues with T989 thus the reason there have been no further builds since 2/3. If people are still going to use it anyway then they accept the consequences of doing so. Not ripping anybody but these questions keep popping up all the time. Use another ROM if you want GPS & camera, there are no ifs, ands or buts about that.
