Hi,
I`m not allowed to comment on the dev thread so I`m doing it here...
I love slimroms and I`ve been using it since SlimBean is out there, thanks for everyone doing the hard work!
Since I updated to SlimKat, my GPS doesn`t work, no satellites reception at all. I tried to look for errors over adb and saw that the error is No XTRA servers available...
Just to confirm, I flushed few other CM roms and GPS is working perfectly in these, so the problem is in SlimKat only.
I saw few references in the dev thread but nobody said anything about possible solution.
Would be happy to go back to SlimKat once this problem solved.
Does anybody else have this problem? Any solution?
Thanks.
Any answers? Solution? Anyone?
Can anyone take a working GPS code from any of the other CM roms?
Still doesn't work on new build 2.4
see attached logs.
yeah, this is broken for me too. if i have data and wifi on i can still get a location fix though in the city, but not outside of the city.
GPS Location not working SGH T989 Slimkat
I am having the same issue on my T989, and am looking for a possible solution. I've enabled high accuracy and even enabled the wifi and what not. However, I still cannot get a location. I'm gonna have to switch to another ROM until the issue is resolved, but I don't really want to So if anyone from anywhere can help me fix this issue, It'd help out a lot...
i am having the same issue, can't patch agps too having status 0. it doesn't work when i try copying that files in /etc myself
GPS + Camera issue
Other than the GPS issue, what about camera? The camera does not work for me in Hangouts or Skype (SlimKat).
No camera and no GPS. Try carbon Rom 4.4.2 if you want those to work. Just as smooth.

Yeah there really is no point in these posts because even the developer has established that SlimKat has issues with T989 thus the reason there have been no further builds since 2/3. If people are still going to use it anyway then they accept the consequences of doing so. Not ripping anybody but these questions keep popping up all the time. Use another ROM if you want GPS & camera, there are no ifs, ands or buts about that.

So, I'm on vacation and have been using my phone for GPS a lot. I was running CM 7.0.3, and on my way from the airport I randomly get a GPS SIGNAL LOST announcement from the phone and Google navigation just sits at searching for GPS.
I thought maybe this was a CM7 issue since I'd been having issues with GPS before that, so I flashed the new stock GB to attempt to fix it. Today I had the same thing happen...only way to resolve it BTW seems to be a full reboot. Exit navigation and GPS toolbox both didn't work.
I'm using 07.28 radio...any ideas what would cause this or how to fix it?
Bump 10 char
Why start a new thread for this in the development section? Seems like you should ask in the cm7 thread or in Q&A. Thanks.
Because it has happened over 2 different roms (as i mentioned in the op) with a non standard radio. thats why I didn't just ask in the q&a or cm7 thread.
Im trying to figure out if its a radio issue or something wrong with my phone...
Anyone have any ideas? Has anyone else had this happen across multiple roms?
I hate to be another "me too" without a solution but this just happened with my DInc as well so I'm curious.
Hi,
My GPS stopped working.
After much research and several tests, changing radio\RIL, stock rom.... could not get the GPS working.
Some time ago, after a long time just picking up one satellite, now does not get any.
Is there any tool or application to test the hardware?
Thanks.
rom do you use?
I noticed this with CM7.1.
The stock rom I tested was the latest 2.3.5 OTA.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17081413
Hi,
I tried this with the stock rom and did not work.
I tried with CM7.1 and still not show any satellite.
Sugestions?
Just for the record:
Radio - 27.14.04.28_M
Have the same issue
I like Cyanogen 7.1, but it seems that the gps doesn't work on DHD. Too bad, because it is a really good rom. I have radio 26.10.04.03_M. The same thing as described by others happen:
I turn on the gps, it start searching, and then it stops and the icon disappears even that the gps is still showed as being turned on
My case is different.
Worked for me several months without problems, and fast.
But stop working.
Someone?
I've tried modifying hardware (antenna), changing to stock rom, tried some different radios, editing gps.conf....
I do not know what else to do.
Anyone know some software to test the GPS hardware?
Have you tried changing the NTP servers?
Changing the NTP servers is part of the link spikey001 posted.
Have you tried flashing agps? I haven't got a thread to point you too but there is one in the DHD ROM section. There are about 6 different gps things you can flash, hopefully one of them will work.

You mention that your GPS used to work. Have you recently dropped your phone? It's possible that the GPS antenna contacts might not actually be making contact anymore (either through trauma or just plain old age)? If none of the SW fixes get your GPS working then perhaps you might actually have to do a HW mod?
See this thread for a HW fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318892
Don't worry, it's not as scary as it looks!
Hi,
sounds like what mine did.
Tried software and even made the fysical contact better for the gps-module itself.
No luck.
The solution for me was to buy a new gps-module on ebay for 5-10 us$.
Worked like a charm.
Good luck!!
Thanks for all the help.
RED_
I've tried the agps reset/download and no luck.
mrlooneytoon
The phone did not fall, just stopped working.
I've tried the HW fix but did not work, still no satellites.
tvetkalle
I can not find the gps-module on Ebay, can you help me?
same issue after upgrading to...
same thing happened to me after upgrading to ICS rom and since am not using it that much, just ignored it and wait for the devs to fix it...now waiting for the wifi fix of blackout ICS
Navigation is stuck on "Searching for GPS". Is there a fix to this?
I know there is a fix around the forum somewhere for it. You might want to give us some more info like what kernel/rom you are running. I am RasBeanJelly and franco.Kernel lastest of each and my GPS locks on in less then 10secs. More info about what you are running will help us out.

I recommend switching to a different ROM such as Codename Android. Some ROMS have a GPS problem like you are describing. The kernel has nothing to do with it. Hope I helped.
Its coming on all ROMS D:
Still getting same error even after trying CNA. I even went to GPS settings and checked "Internal GPS antinna" or something. But still getting same error. Could the phone be faulty?
Have you tried either of these?

i have had instances where it was a KERNEL problem..not the rom...certain kernels couldnt lock on GPS..flashed a different one and it worked..flashed back to test it again and it didnt...so it was definitely the kernel causing it...so he can try flashing another kernel

For me even the gps icon is not blinking. How to find whether the gps hardware is faulty? So that i can stop trying other software fixes

sygic works so it's not a hardware problem.. other gps apps show me satellites.. but maps no!
Old gmail maps works but now I don't know how to install previous version.. can anyone help me?
Maybe it's a app problem (6.14 maps..)
thanks
Install GPS status from market and let it download agps data and point it towards the sky and see how that goes. If you see satellites and they lock, go back to maps; it should work now.
Some gnex came with faulty GPS module. I have two gnex and e first one I got had the problem and hasn't been fixed with several ROM, kernel and tools and GPS scripts.
Keep us posted

gps status show me satellites.. sygic works but google maps no!!
I don't think it's a hardware problem because with previous version of maps it works! so I think it's a google maps problem.. but I don't know what to do to make maps work!
This is a Google problem, it's happened once before to a ton of android users, it may have come with an alert "unable to sign into account" (that's how mine was this morning, plus searching for GPS. All seems well now.
I just installed cm-10.1-20130306-NIGHTLY-t0lte to my AT&T Note 2 (sgh-i317) and so far everything seems to be working. Everything besides the GPS. I can't get a gps lock at all. It works fine when I flash a stock rom. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Try GPS Status from the play store and see if the antenna is down because of the rom or maybe you'll get lucky and get a fix.

How do I tell if the antenna is down within GPS Status?
GPS status and Note 2
I have been reviewing several of the potential fixes for the Galaxy Note 2, and GPS with CM10.1
I have used additional apps such as GPS status, or GPS Fix.
I have tried to turn off other radios on the device all except the GPS. This still did not pull a GPS lock.
The only other option I saw that I was confused about,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39761558&postcount=702
This post refers to installing a stock rom then getting a lock and rebooting into install CM.
I am really enjoying CM10.1 and would love to figure this out. I feel I have done a bit of research about 1-2hrs of searching forums and just am having issues with GPS locking for my device. I have restored to a stock I had before and locking works without an issue.

Bump as I'm having this trouble too.
Have you checked in the official CM thread ??
GPS issues have popped up numerous times. ..and the thread likely has the answer. ..
CM nightly builds are often broken anyway. ..and bug report threads are usually a dead end if not pointed to Cyanogenmod or their teams. ..
Check the CM thread. ..and possibly revert to an older working build for now if GPS is required. ..g
First, thanks to everyone who has made tolte based AOSP roms so amazing. I have been using them as a daily drivers since 4.1.1 and have seen how quickly they have stabilized. Nice work! I have one remaining issue that someone can hopefully help me out with.
I cannot get a gps lock when connected to LTE. As soon as I enter LTE coverage it loses the lock and searches until I re-enter 3G.
I have tried several AOSP ROM variations (clean flashes), different modems (currently on MA7) and different Network modes with no luck. I currently work around this issue when I need a GPS lock by Setting the Network mode to CDMA / Evdo, and Airplane Mode On/Off, forcing me to stay in 3G/1X. Sprint is finally rolling more 4G out here in Baltimore and would like to take advantage of it.
Any suggestions? Anyone else having/not having this issue? I have captured logcats both entering and leaving LTE. The results are way over my head, but can PM them if they might help.
Thanks in advance,
Matt
I know all about the 4g growing in Baltimore. Unfortunately, I am kind of fond of the tw based roms and can't answer the question in full for you...
However, no gps fix on lte.... hmm... I'm going to have to think on that one...
You had pretty much answered everything I would have asked, and I know this might sound like a pain but does it work ok on a tw based Rom?

TirithXiato, thanks for the reply.
I haven't tried Twiz in awhile, mainly because i like PA and Xposed per app dpi. It used to work on mine and still works on my wife's stock note 2.
I have looked all over for someone having the same problem and at known issue logs... but nothing.
I'll try Twiz again and see if it's something with the phone.
Meanwhile is this working for anyone?

As I said, I'm in the Baltimore area and haven't had a problem. I am on stock ma7 deodexed though... I like the stock s pen apps and xposed works lovely for me...
I'd give it a try, if it still fails on a tw Rom, I'd say it's probably something hardware related

Did anyone solve this problem?? I am having the same issue here.
Gps doesn't get lock on lte. It gets locked just fine on 3g tho.
I'm using Minitab rom.
Tried this lil trick yet? Worked for me when I couldn't get a GPS lock at all, although in my area its all LTE, so hopefully it'll work if you haven't gone this route already.
1. Nandroid your rom.
2. Download a TW ROM, I used Lab Rats.
3. Flash the TW ROM, get a lock (and stay where ever it is you got the lock)
4. Restore your aosp ROM
5. Profit
If it doesn't work you may just need to do all the afore mentioned steps up to step 3, but then reflashing your aosp ROM. I know, I know, a pain in the @$$, but if you want your GPS working properly then you might wanna give it a go. And hey, if it doesn't work you have you Nandroid. Hope this helps.
I know this is an old thread, but maybe this will help someone in the future if they Google search (that's how I found this while looking for a solution). This advice worked for me:
Use root browser to edit the last line in
/etc/gps.conf
The last line will be
LPP_PROFILE=0
Change the 0 to 3. Save and exit.
^thanks. Helped me!
