I have never had a problem with roaming in my house. Today it has been going in and out randomly for no reason. Is there anything I can do to help it? This is the first time this has ever happened.
I have been having lots of problems in my house as well. I received an airave awhile ago and after like two weeks of it working great I am getting random loss of signal all the time. For now im forcing roam with roam control so I can atleast send txt's and call. I don't know if its a sprint issue or not but it's very. Frustrating.

Is there anyway for me to boost my signal? I use to get around 3 or 4 bar's at my house, but after the hurricane i only get 1 and my phone is always roaming now. I called up sprint like 24 times and they just say there is nothing wrong with their towers and say they'll send someone out to look at them. Yet i'm still only getting one bar and roaming.
So does anyone know what i should do? I'm about to leave sprint and it's a shame as i've been with them for years.
I updated my prl and raidos etc to the latest and still didn't help.
If u have high speed internet at ur house u can get an air rave from Sprint. It will pretty much put a tower in your house

Well, finally after calling up sprint like 45 times over the past 3 weeks. I got someone who told me that there seems to be a nation wide problem with roaming and bad signals and the ticket is still open even though they kept telling me that it was closed and it was fixed. He offered me one of them airaves, but since i normally have a great signal at my house i said it was alright for now and i'll wait to see what happens after the outage is fixed. This one lady was pissing me off i almost left sprint luckly i asked to talk to her manager.
You might take your phone in to have the radio checked too just to make sure its not your phone. Have them run post on it and that will tell then if it is your radio going out or if in fact its the network. If your phone is rooted it will still read, so they can't say no. its in policy that they have to work on rooted phones and if they can't fix it, they have to order you another one.

Have you tried updating your PRL and Profile it might help a little. It does for me while I'm at work
Today i went to hilton head from savannah. In savannah i have fine 4g service. once i passed over bored of ga and sc i lost all service. i did not go into 3g nor edge. I also have a vibrant that i carry which kept a 3g service for most of the time. It went into edge for a few minutes but it krept back into 3g. My SGS II never came back into service until i was 5 minutes away from my house. I reset the phone a couple times throughout the day which did not help. has anyone experienced a loss in data with another phone that is on same service have data. This was unexpected and frankly pissed me off. NO GPS, NO INTERNET. all i could do was text. I even had gps on my vibrant (miui latest le) which if you came from vibrant you know its not the greatest gps.
My real question is....Do you think its a defect and should i try to get another one or something im going to have to deal with on the SGS II . I am always going back and forth between the two places.
Next time you take the drive try going to Settings -> Wireless & Network -> Mobile Networks and changing your network mode to GSM only.
You may be onto something because I experience the same thing when at the office. My 4G drops and it won't switch to edge, I just have no service.
If the auto mode isn't working for anyone that really is lame.
I have called CS on this and they didn't seem concerned and just told me to do what I wrote in the first paragraph.

well i would rather know if its a defect or just unable to switch services automatically before my grace period is up. So please do report back...
It definitely seems like there is an issue with switching between 4g & E. I can't fully confirm but I've been switching them manually today and it's working. If I leave it on auto it never switches to edge even when 4g is at zero bars. Weird. I don't know if this is normal or not cause this is my first real 4g device.

How do you switch manually? I have problems inside of buildings, not that I expect it to have a 4g inside, but edge would still be helpful for work email notifications.

So for the past two days I was not able to send or receive phone calls or text on my phone in the Brooklyn NY area. I thought maybe it was something to do with the rom I flashed or that sprint was just having outages. The funny thing is 3 and 4G worked perfectly fine. So this morning tried to call my wife on the using the cell phone and she couldnt receive calls.
So I called sprint this afternoon and they said that there was a problem with a few towers in Brooklyn where the 3g signal was interfering with the singel cell calling.
Supposedly this is suppose to be fixed by 12/21/2011 20:00 est.
Edit:
The rep wanted to do some basic trouble shooting on the phone via the network, so I am wondering would my phone being rooted and romed cause a problem with said troubleshooting.

I don't think so, either way it is easy to go back to root.
I called in for Jersey and they said there is an outage. My texts usually fail to send but they say it'll be resolved within the week...

I've been having issues in my part of Brooklyn for months now. Same thing, 3G works fine but texts and calls fail.
Chiming in well i live in brooklyn and i nor my wife have not had any call issues in my area at all.
We are both spilling having the issue. No voice or text via sprint or Google voice. I was told the tower issue in new york was suppose to be fixed last night. But we are still having the problem.
It's funny because the phone works everywhere else except in front or around or in our house. If I go five blocks away from my house the phone works fine.

I called sprint and told them i had no service and no data in most of my city.. " what is it, that youre using?" i said "a cell phone..." he said exactly, its used to make calls not to surf the internet
whats funnier yet is that he was about 25 years old..
I'm in a different state and its happening to this area too. In store rep said they are aware of it and they are working on the problem. She said things should be fixed tomorrow friday, at least for my area. Some texts are falling into the black hole and some have come through hours later. Internet works. Texts ride on the phone line and not the data line. Even on wifi texts would fail. Phone calls worked sometimes. Some towers were not affected and some are. The one for my house is intermittent.
If your connected to wifi it only cover data and wont actually place a voice call through wifi right? Just data like picz and internet correct?
I believe so. I think email and internet works on wifi but not calls or text. I thought google voice ran on the internet side but I did see some failures with that too so I don't know,
I don't use a cell phone.
I use a Data Pad or PDA that happens to also have a cellular radio and it can if I want make calls but that is a secondary function.

It's strange there seems to be a 5 block radius in my neighborhood where you can make or get calls or text with sprint since Tuesday. The funny thing is it is with all sprint phones and they say they are not aware of an issue. Their are 4 sprint phones in the 3 family building that live in and would have to be at least a 100 or more in the neighborhood. It's seems to only affect he phone during the day because late at night and early in the morning the phones are fine.
Bay Ridge resident here. For about a year now, data fluctuates anywhere between 100 kbps to 1.5 Mbps, but usually in the 200 kbps area. Been complaining for what feels like forever (issue has been there since last January). I've gotten a million and one excuses, taken it all the way up to the office of Dan Hesse (I **** you not). They credited me one month's bill and that was about it. This was a long time ago. I love the fact that Sprint has unlimited data and is cheap, but that's about it. Service itself sucks.
They're sending me an airave. Is that thing worth it?

Just got my airave.. and i figured out why they have no problem sending it out for free... it turns that 5 mile radius around your house into a sprint tower for anyone to use... using the internet YOU pay for...and my calls are still broken up when i make them...the sprint rep couldn't hear me when i was talking to her on it... lol.oh well i guess i changed my prl to a really good Verizon one. I'm happy now

Ummm if you don't do it then its definitely on you...not sprint. I have one and I get perfect service at home...full bars. Why complain about that? Its free so yes it its absolutely worth it.

You pay for your high speed don't you? Or is that given to you for free? And the average person wouldnt know that u can't do that. To each their own. If u like it then great! I think its a sham. I shouldn't need an extra tower in my apartment to get my cell phone to work.. that is on sprint.. oh and before anything is said about where i live, i am located in the top 5 most populated cities in Michigan. I don't live out in the sticks lol

Lately something strange has been going on with my data speeds. For starters I have tested this one two tmobile s3s in the same location so it must be a service issue. Well at my house I used to get pretty decent speeds I have slow ass wifI so my 4g was always being used instead simply because it was always faster. Well for the passed 5 days I cant even load pages inside or around my house even a block down.. it says 4g in the status bar and the arrows light up like normal but I cant do anything! Couldnt send pics thru mms or load web pages and fb, twitter etc same thing with my friends s3.. is anyone experiencing this anywhere else? I live in Miami.. the funny thing is not even 15 min away from.my neighborhood I hit 20mb down.. wtf. Maybe tmobile doing somethin to the towers in my area?? Anyone seeing this type of service?
Ps. Ive flashed several modems and all give same result. I'm on stock rooted lh2..

Definately sounds like a problem with the tower. Id call tmobile anyway. If its a problem they're not aware of, the longer it takes em to find out the longer till its fixed.

Same here. I drive a minute and have perfect service. It has been almost a month and it seems to be getting worst. I get no bars on 4g and 2 average on edge. I now have to rely exclusively on wifi calling. I think my 10 years of tmo are finally up

I recieved a text from tmobile that they will be servicing NJ area towers on 9/17 and it has never been the same since. About 2 years ago my service degraded but I was still able to get at least a few bars of 4G which was alleviated by the house signal booster. That booster is not compatible with EDGE.
I've called TMO at least 4 times, they always say give it 72 hours to hear back from the engineers. I call back 3 days later and get the same story. I do not know what is going on at this company right now but I do not like the direction they seem to be heading.
Damn, I thought it was only me, LOL.
I'm getting terrible speeds, like 200-300kbits.
Other places in the city (Sugar land) I usually get 15-16mbits.
Anyone else have this problem? When I go to pick up the phone the person on the other end can not hear me but I can hear them? It does not happen all the time though. It happens when I was stock and continues to happen now that I'm rooted and on another ROM. It started recently when I moved to an area that I actually had LTE coverage. But like most of you I don't use my phone as a phone and rarely receive phone calls. So not a major issue but just an annoyance. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Anyone having the same issue?

Call sprint sometimes their towers mess up. They cant fix it if they dont know about it i used to have 40 Kbps at work and i called to complain; turns out only 1 tower reached my workplace. So they flagged it as a capacity issue and changed the prl so that that tower gives people all it's got instead of expecting 4 other towers to share the load now i get 1.5Mbps at work (all 3g)

Had already tried contacting Sprint. They said there are no issues with any towers around this area. They had me do the obvious, reset my phone, pop out the battery, update the PRL, update the profile, ect. Still happened last night when I got a call from a coworker. He couldn't hear me but I could hear him. I called him right back and no issues then.
Any other thoughts?
