Hey everyone I was having problems with a rom so I decided to go back to an old rom that i had used before. Anyways during this process (I did all the steps, wiped data/factory reset, cache and dalvik) something got messed up and now when I try to install a new rom it installs and then boots into an endless reboot cycle. I can put the rom that i was using before this happened back on and it partially works (troubles with programs force quitting, cant install or uninstall etc) so anyways what my real problem is is that cwm wont delete the data or cache. When i go into mounts/storage to manually delete then i click on it and then in the script it says unable to delete /data or /cache or something to that extent. Also I am using 3.0.0.8
If anyone has any tips or help for me that would be great! I have tried everything I can possibly think of and nothing seems to work.
P.S. I am new here and if this thread is in the wrong forum then sorry. Please direct me to where it is supposed to be.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Try going back to 3.0.0.7 if you have an AMOLED screen

Thanks for trying but it didnt work. Flashed vr superwipe, it "wiped" everything, flashed rom and then booted into the same reboot cycle
Might want to try another radio.
If your recovery is giving you an error it may be an issue with your actual data and cache partitions. Did you try flashing a different recovery? Give 3.0.0.7 a shot, or amon ra, it can't hurt to try.
It would be helpful if you could post the actual error message you're getting in recovery.

Hello everyone! I am trying to flash a new rom and I am at a loss. I have tried both Amon RA and Clockwork, and neither will fully wipe for some reason. I have been at this for quite some time and have never run into this problem. I am currently running Myn's rls4. I have s-off root and have tried both recoveries with no avail. It tries to wipe then stops al too quickly. Then even after attempting to flash another rom it boots into myn's as if i just flashed it. weird huh? any help would be GREATly appreciated! I hope it ok to post this here! Thank you in advance!

Its 003, ive never had any problems at all before.
Take it you cleared all caches..reg and dalvik? Also might want to re download new ROM in case its a bad file for whatever reason and try it again.
And try wiping everything at least twice. I usually start with the Dalvik and Battery stats and then the data and cache partition wipes.

Yes I have cleared everything, and tried at least two different ROMs
Google "Calkulin's FORMAT ALL" & put the zip on your sd card & flash. It will clear everything. with the exception of dalvik, so you may want amon ra for that

Additional Info
Ok there is a little more info about the situation. Ive been running Myn's... rls4. I moved all my apps to the partition on my SD. I then decided to run the dalvik cache from there as well. Well, when I moved it (through the terminal) and rebooted the entire system FC'd, everything entirely. Well I wiped everything and went back to a nandroid backup. Ever since then Ive been unable to use Apps2sd, then I came to discover the recovery problem.
Format all did the trick! Thanks so much and Merry Christmas!

I was flashing radio, wimax, NV, PRI. I was trying to fix android os from showing up on the battery. I downloaded from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485 put to root of sd. Flashed one by one, each one cleared my cache upon returning to recovery. I did not reboot phone completely after each flash, I flashed the next one, all in a row. Can I be saved?
Please help
Is your phone not turning on...or what's 'not' happening?
I reboot and it stuck at splash for 15 minutes. I pull battery, I reboot to bootloader then recovery. I wipe and flashing cyanogen again. I hope it works.
Boot into the bootloader, and verify that the correct radio you flashed is displayed there; if so, go into recovery from the bootloader, do a full wipe [factory/data, cache, dalvik cache], then flash your version of CM7, wipe cache and dalvik again, flash the latest gapps, then reboot.
Its fixed! Thank you for taking the time to help. I been flashing for a while and forgot my user/pass, dont have the same email either, lol. Thanks again
Lawlz, it happens, and you're welcome.
I'm asking if I bricked my EVO as well...I'm new to the whole rooting, ROM, Kernel thing, so I was very nervous to jump into the deep end.
I rooted successfully, took a nandroid backup, then flashed Deck's new ROM, and a kernel. When I selected "reboot" it wouldn't boot.
Can you guys think of anything I did wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.

False alarm! I rebooted the phone into recovery and restored the backup that I just took. I flashed the ROMS and Kernel, then rebooted and now all seems to be working.
Man, that almost gave me a heart attack!

Glad its working; just make sure to backup, then do a full wipe before flashing a new rom. If flashing multiple things, wipe the cache and dalvik between flashes.

Thanks for the tip!
About a month ago I decided I wanted to try out Synergy ROM for my EVO, so I went for God Mode and everything has been running fine...until now. I had installed a kernel earlier this week for underclocking and such, but decided today that I didn't really use it as much as I though so I decided to reflash the HTC stock 4.24. I just did that about 10 minutes ago, I made a backup in case something went wrong and I backed up all my apps/texts as well. It flashed, rebooted...then it got stuck in a boot loop. So I pulled the battery and booted up into the bootloader to go into recovery...when I found every time I hit recovery it would just restart to the bootloader. So I'm not really sure if there is anyway to restore my backup or any other way to boot into recovery. Am I just screwed? Or can I use ADB to boot into recovery/restore my backup? This is sort of my first question post so...If you need any more information just ask.
Thanks,
Suprgamr232
If your phone is still going into bootloops. Connect your phone to your computer and go to adb and type in adb reboot recovery. There you can revert back into a nandroid backup. Hope this helps
Not to be rude, but you didn't read the entire post did you? I can't access my recovery and AFAIK adb doesn't work while it's in a bootloop. Also, I don't think adb recognizes my device when it's in the bootloader either.
Hey im just trying to help, Maybe some how you lost your recovery? Maybe try reflashing your recovery from the bootloader, make sure it named pc36img.zip. See if you can access your recovery after that. What recovery are you using btw, clockworkmod or amon ra? and did you wipe your cache and dalvik cache files through recovery before you flashed your kernel?
If you can access your recovery after reflashing it, Try wiping those in recovery and rebooting, see if it boots into your rom. If not and you still get a boot loop but you can access recovery do a full wipe and reflash your rom or try restoring a nandroid
Not gonna argue with you, so I'll let it slide...I'm using clockworkmod and I did wipe my cache and dalvik cache. ATM I haven't been able to get a hold of a new recovery img for some reason...can never get it to download 100%, will try it soon hopefully.
There's no need to argue Ive heard that clockworkmod doesnt always completely wipe the cache and dalvik maybe try using amon ra this time around http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
Cant hurt to try it. hope you can get it working for ya, gl
Still stuck in the bootloop. I tried restoring but that didn't help. I tried reinstalling the ROM and the kernel I used before and no change, I don't really want to wipe my phone and try it but...I guess it might turn out that way. Before I do though I was wondering if there is anything else I should try?

You're gona have to do a full wipe [ factory/data, cache, and dalvik ] , reflash your rom, kernel, ect. Once you sign in, boot, ect, you can use titanium backup to restore your apps and data, NOT system settings.
Alrighty then. Did that and everything seems to be working fine...A little disappointed but as long as I have my phone! Thanks for your help!

I installed the 01-29 Nightly & 12-12 Gapps on my shiny brand new 7105 and now it won't boot. I've searched till to I'm blue in the face and I'm about to have a breakdown. I can find stock roms & etc for the 7100 but not the 7105. Someone please point me to a stock Odin Rom so I restore this thing.

Hi,
Try this:
Turn your phone off
Boot your phone in to recovery (hold home + volume up + power)
Do a factory reset
Wipe cache ect
Then reflash the ROM with Odin
Then leave it for at least 10 min to boot. As it can take a while.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers
Corey

I did the factory reset & wiped the cache as you suggested. It rebooted before I get it turned off and I let it go. It booted on up and I'm good to go again. You helped me get my new phone back and I appreciate it. I don't know if I'll try anymore custom rom's or not on this 7105.

Completely up to you, mate. You just have to be very cautious when flashing things on your phone. You have to be very particular with the files you're downloading. Just ensure that everything's for your N7105. ^^

Hi,
Glad you got it working.
It should be pretty safe to flash ROMs on it, just make sure they are for the N7105.
Always make a cwm backup, then u can just flash that to restore everything.
If you follow theses rules when flashing ROMs, they should boot fine most of the time:
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Install ROM
Wipe data again
Wipe cache
Fix permissions
Custom ROMs are so much better then stock, so its a shame not to use them
Cheers

Did you do a data/cache wipe when you installed CM nightly over the stock rom ? Maybe that's why it wouldn't boot up.
Anyway, don't be afraid of custom roms, if CM10.1 is what you'd rather use - try again and if something goes wrong - there's tons of people here who can help
Also *always* make backup of IMEI, it can get borked for no reason :silly: TWRP has the ability to backup only single partitions eg.

Yes, I did the Factory Reset and wiped cache & delvik cache first.
So i have flashed for awhile and never have encountered this problem. i was on lbj7 i went back to stock. did Ota upgrade to 4.1.2, rerooted flashed another rom and now all it does is forceclose. How do i clean the system completly so i can reflash a fresh clean install. I normally wipe Delvik+cache+ factory what else can i include to insure i have a 100% clean flash?. Any and all help is appreciated thanks!
Wipe internal storage will erase anything on the internal just as it states. What ROM are you trying to flash? Also what recovery do you have and is it up to date. If you want the ultimate clean install I do this, make sure the and if you need gasps or any other file is on the external card
Wipe data, cache, dalvick, system this removes the ROM, internal and maybe even format data. Flash ROM wipe cache and dalvick and if you need to gasps the wipe cache and dalvick the boot. But make sure your recovery is up to date, I use twrp which is on 2.4.4 right now. And you have the correct gasps if needed. Good luck.

To install TWRP the easiest way just download Goomanager from the Play Store here https://play.google.com/store/apps/...anager&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd open it go to settings and select Install OpenRecoveryScript, This will download and install TWRP's newest recovery. You could also check the md5sum to see if it's a good download. Sometimes the files that you download are corrupted but I have never had it happen, and I have flashed endless amounts of ROMs on different phones, but it happens people say. I am unfamiliar with that specific ROM but try searching in the thread for it to see if anyone else has had similar experiences and have a way to fix it. Searching is your friend, search and read a lot will ussually solve your problem, and if you don't turn up anything don't be afraid to ask a question instead of doing something that might be unsafe or worries you.
I did as u suggested and just tried re flashing using Twrp. Awaiting Results as first boot aproaches. Thanks again for the helping hand.
Just a heads up. Try and hit the thanks button on these forums if people help you in any way. I don't really care about it but it helps some people especially devs and what not.
