Hi, yesterday i pick up my repaired Desire, they changing mobo etc due to automatic restart and display freezing, and now i go back to S-OFF install custom rom, and today i facing a another problem, i found my desire turned off for 2 times today, he automaticly shutdows itself
could be this bad battery? i have my device almost a year, or some battery contacts from the new mobo?
thx for advice
this has happened to me a few times , i sourced it down to the software i had on the phone, try flashing a new rom and see if that solves it
as i said, yesterday i pick up my repaired phone new mobo etc...
never before had to find my desire turned off i do some search and i found this issue can be caused by badly sim card inserted or if the battery have spece he can loose contact
i remove and re-insert sim card, fix battery and will see if it helps
okay try stick some blue tack to the battery to hold it in place
yep looks like there was the source of the problem
reinsert sim card and fix battery in place resolve the problem

I have a six months old desire (still under guaranty), not rooted, with froyo.
Lattely it it doing some weird things:
- randomly (once a day) the phone freezes, so i have to push home button after that happens and the phone goes to stand by, i cant wake it- the buttons lights up but the screen stays dark (i have to take out the battery to restsrt the phone)
-sometimes my phone isnt ringing when someone is calling
Can someone please help me, what should i do (should i root and try another ROM or sent it into repair?).
tank you
First try a normal factory reset. If the problem is gone you can root or keep using it unrooted. If the problem is still there just send it to repair.
I have already tried a factory reset and it is the same. Does that mean it is a hardware problem?
Would say so, if it's unrooted there is no other real reason for these problems. You can try to see if a custom rom fixes it but I wouldn't try to fix a phone still under warranty by breaking the warranty. Just send it back to HTC unless you can't miss your phone for a month.
Could it be possible that my sd card is causing the problems?
yesterday i have inserted another sd card and the phone seems working fine now.
I tried running the card i previous had in the phone on my computer ani it did not work ( didnt even find it).
So im wondering if the card was fault for the desire behaving weird? I gues i will have to wait for a couple of days and see what happens.
What do you guys think?
Sounds exactly the same as mine. I had to remove battery once a day due to freezing, missed so many calls.
Tried rom upgrades, factory resets, new SD card, still the same.
Finally sent it to HTC UK service who replaced the mainboard, all good now.
Phone was returned in less than a week, really happy with their service.
Same here sent it to repair got a new main board and all is good. HTC repair is better than most
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Having an issue with my htc desire (it has a stock desire rom)
Basically when my phone goes to sleep the screen remains blank and I cannot seem to get the screen active
when I try to wake up the device as per norm the buttons light up however the screen remains blank..
the phone still seems functional (volume works, etc) however it does not respond to being 'woken up'
I have have done all sorts to try and resolve the problem, this includes checking sd card for errors, resetting phone.
Im a loss to what could be causing this, the phone is a right pain to use now, I go on a call and then screen dims but never recovers, however can still continue with the call.
I have to pull out the battery and restart the phone to have the screen 'wake'
I have looked at these threads of people with similar issues but no one has put up a solution.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892100
Tried testing the sd card for errors still have the problem.
Different SD card still have the problem
I tested it with the sd card removed and still have the same problem.
In airplane mode I still have the problem
With different sim I still have the problem
Tried two new roms, still have the problem (previous to this I had not changed roms in months).
Any ideas? How did other people fix this?
Strangely though after leaving it overnight it woke once the first time this morning. Now back to not waking.
Please help
hi,
another desire owner wrote the same issue on the QA forum...
seen a revealant linked posted by a member...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892100
at first sight seems to be a sd card issue... also have a look on sdfix thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010807
happens to me but just once, i just pull out the battery.
looking forward about sd card tweeking
hope this help
As I said it happens whether or not there is an SD card in the phone. And with different SD cards so I do not see how it could be an SD card problem.
Fixed it now. I took it apart then put it back together.

I have similar problem here...
Our case is that we can't wake a phone after deep sleep..Touch screen is just not responding. We can see a caller (when somebody is calling) and screen but touch screen is not responding.
After we lock it and unlock it again via Power button, all is just fine...
We caused that by disassembling and assembling the Phone..There was some dust behind digitizer, so we had to clean it...
There must be some strange thing that is not behaving as it should when U proceed
to disassembling and assembling..
So Guys out there...be carefully and think twice before you make decision to disassemble your Desire...

I realize now that problem that you had, has nothing to do with mine, because I have this issue, with or without Sim card..
Just wanted to describe this problem and see if anyone has any experience with it, or maybe even a fix.
My wife's G2 freezes completely from time to time. No reaction to touchscreen, buttons or even power button. It also loses all connections, wifi and 3G/GSM/GPRS. Calls to the frozen phone go straight to voice mail, as if it were turned off. The only way we've found to fix it is to remove the battery and restart.
This behaviour has been showing sporadically, roughly once a week, and as far as she can tell, happened the first time after the OTA update to Gingerbread.
This is a standard, unbranded, unlocked HTC G2 running on the Swisscom network in Switzerland.
Any hints or suggestions are more than welcome.
I got exactly the same issue on my HD2..
I've tried flashing new raido, new kernel, new rom, other rom,
using another SD card, re-partition my sd card etc.
Nothing helped...
the service told me then that there's something broken on the board..
Hope u/ur wife dont have the same issue...

Hmm, it's still under warranty, maybe we'll take it back and have it checked.
is it still rooted / s-off?
if not the best solution would be to send it to the service...
hi i upgraded my xps lt26 i on ics to build (ICS)6.1.a.2.55 ota and it was so far going smooth with no mess around till yesterday night
my battery was drained after a whol day use and i came back home left phone plugged for charge(switched off) turned on later on, the phone then stayed for half an hour and then the problem started
phone started rebooting and random boots
the phone since then is behaving like that
i left it like that at 11 o clock the battery was drained(morning)
i was upset.
i figured out the phone is switching off it self, searched out to find the issue but no luck, well
then i noticed that the phone is saying sim error( only once i seen this) i removed the sim card( which actually is not cutted the way it should be, means it was a full sime card( regular orange sim card) i tried to make it micro sim card and cutted in a bad shape but it was working fine
now i have removed the sim card from phone, inserted another sim card in the phone, and the phone is no longer rebooting( i will update this)
i felt:
it might be the sim card reading error on sim tray cause mine was slightly cutted in bad shape plus the reading pannels were also bit trimmed
secondly i have seen there is a bug in ics causing random reboots
if people around faced this issue, they have possibly solutions to hard reset, clean memory by hard reset( power plus volume up), refreshing the firmware via sony pc suite, or finally sending it to repair centre but MINE IS not in warrnty
if any one else had this issue in past or facing this problem can add ,
please share your experience and any possible solution.
Do a factory reset and then update again with PCC, problem is you would loose root then. But there's no else solution available for the random reboots.
Happened with me too, So I decided to stick at Firmware 0.50 since 0.55 offers nothing new or special
reboots
Well
I haven't been rebooted since afternoon
I am sure it's SIM card issue I m facing but personally speaking I started hating Sony
Its waste of money
Look at each flagship leader Sony comes up
Then tons of issues
I will update if anything happened again
Thanks

I have an LG-H815 running the v10c-EUR software. It's been running fine up until today. Today when I turned off the phone and turned it back on, I got a notice of "service disabled" and the phone was showing the search symbol above antennae reception bars for a minute or so and then it would change to a small red "X". I have taken the battery out, removed the Sim card and put everything back to no avail. I tried the sim card in my old phone and it works fine. I did a complete wipe and factory reset and the problem persists. The phone will report "no sim card" if I start it up without the sim. When I put the sim in, it just says "service disabled" and then "no service. " I even tried going back to default apn and then re-entering my straight talk apn and rebooting - still nothing. I have not added any programs lately and I have been using a Qi charger with an aftermarket sticker with no problems whatsoever for the past 45 days. I haven't had so much as a hiccup with the phone until today!
Has anyone else experienced such a crazy and sudden loss of service? Is my radio fried, or is there a software solution to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I sure hope I can get some ideas on how to fix this. I have square trade coverage on this and my only option is to send it to their repair center. That seems like it would be a total waste of time.
Try your sim card in another phone and another sim card in your phone to determine if your sim card is faulty or maybe your sim card reader. I get the "service disabled" message until I enter my pin code.
I tried the sim swap out and nothing. I also was getting a weird phenomenon where very briefly I would get one bar of signal and the no signal warning would shut off, then in a matter of seconds, the signal would fade and then shut completely off again. This looks like it is almost certainly a hardware issue that has nothing to do with the sim card or sim card reader. I sent if off to the SquareTrade service center to see if they can fix it (doubtful). I'm hoping I get a good result from them as I have not LG warranty and bought the Squaretrade coverage at the time of phone purchase.
I'm getting this occasionally. Occurs randomly.
According to posts around here, the G4's stock ROM and stuffs are bad. Only thing to do is wait for them to fix it. Maybe it's related.

Have you been asked for your sim card pin? Maybe we face the same issue?

No, I haven't been asked for the SIM card pin. My problem was definitely a hardware failure. I filed a claim with Squaretrade and shipped it off to their California service center. I just got the phone back today after a week's wait. At first, the service guys were saying it was a software problem and I wasn't covered. Then I called the claims department and read them the riot act and insisted they update my information to the service department about not having changed the software at all when the problem arose and all the steps I had taken to establish rather conclusively that it was indeed a hardware malfunction. Well....lo and behold, I get an update the next day that they had replaced the motherboard and it was now working fine. If anyone else has this same problem and you happen to have squaretrade insurance, the precedent has been established that it is a hardware issue and you are covered.:good:
This happened today and the phone kept shutting off as well after freezing and now won't turn on. It may have hard bricked itself. Going to try another g4 battery at the t-mobile store or maybe get a replacement. Hopefully certain un-backed up things can be recovered.
I reset the phone adding some press in SIM CARD slot and signal was recoverd, seems like hardware issue.
I had the same thing, only after going back to factory settings the phone works fine again...

It happened again and now after going back to factory settings, the problem stays...
Happened to me as well. Removed SIM, mem card and battery and left the phone to cool down. Putting back everything after an hour fixed it.
happened to me just now.
when i press the power button nothing happened, so i decided to remove the battery and restart it.
after restarting service disabled is displayed on my lockscreen. i checked the imei and "unknown" is written.
does anyone here know a fix on this? doesn't have a warranty so i don't know how much LG service center will charge me if i take it to them directly.
It just started to happen to me yesterday after 18 months of use.
Its the very same problems. Im rolling with a LG G3 thoug.
It even did persist after several ROMs clean flashing and even a stock FW flashing.
All of sudden, its working again for an hour or so!
U all need to flash modems of H815 MM or custom via TWRP Or flashfire...usually its a zip file search here on xda
It's the battery!
I had the same "service disabled" nightmare, then I realized the problem started when I swapped in a freshly charged battery. My batteries have been misbehaving recently, and they've probably cycled to their max. When I changed back to a different battery the issue disappeared. I've had this a couple of times now, where "service disabled" would come up, restarting wouldn't help, but switching back to the previous battery did. My suggestion: test your phone with a different battery.

I bought a new battery and, first start with the new battery was ok, but the second restart the problem returned...
With a lot of times trying different methods, I found out that restarting the phone while connected to a charger or computer always works for me (tried this at least 20 times and it always works).
Turning on the pin-code of the sim also seems to do the trick, the phone first displays service disabled and then asks for the pin, after entering the pin, the sim becomes active (I only rebooted like this a few times, but it worked every time).
Had this problem. Done a hard reset which seems to have fixed the problem at least for now ( only been one day! Keep waiting for it to start doing it again but so far so good)
I found out that restarting the phone while connected to a charger works for me too
