hey guyz ... well i hv a rooted phone and it has jokersdroid rom on it...well my question is i see in rom manager something called " partition SD card" so is it possible to do it ..i mean will it work on htc wildfire? cuz i ve read in some places ppl complaining tht it didnt work..
and another noob questions..,if i partitioned the card succefully thn all the apps will be saved on SD card rite ??
thnx in advance, waiting for reply!
It worked for me, so, I don't think there will be any issues in partitioning via ROM Manager. Just remember to make a backup of your SD Card before doing that, because partitioning it will format it.
After partitioning, you will have to enable Apps2SD, there is a post in the last 4-5 pages by the ROM creator how to enable Apps2SD, you can just look it up. After setting it up, all apps will go to the SD Card.
hey thanx for the help...i just wanted to make sure tht i got the CWM V. 2.5.0.7...its okay wid tht rite...? and thanx again.
Yes, Android 2.1 / 2.2 ROMs need CWM 2.x, so you should be fine with 2.5.0.7
well i did it...the phone works fine...but all of my previously installed apps are not working.....how do i get thm bak..as i dnt want to download all of them again....please help
You needed to have backed them with a backup app like Titanium backup.
yeah thnx i figuered out tht....but i only have one question left...why after all tht my internal memory is still showing 63 mb left only! why not 160mb..?
thnx for all this help
Most probably because your dalvik cache is still on the internal memory.
Refer this post:

Since you already have partitioned your SDCard, you might just try to reflash the ROM.
Hey im in a mess here...its not only tht i got 60 mb...but whn i install apps ...some of thm eats up space frm phone memory...shldnt nw all things be installed on sd card...?
And can u describe inshort how to reflash a rom..by steps..
Tht would be my laaaaast request frm u...thnx in advance..

Might be a redundant question but have you done a2sd cachesd through a terminal emulator?
Sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium App
I've been having the same problem with my jokerdroid Rom tried using a terminal and a2sd GUI, but kept getting cannot mount sd-ext.... tried everything I know of to mount the ext partition but eventually got sick of trying so just reflashed the Rom and everything is fine now.
Reboot into recovery 2.x wipe everything and then choose install from zip and reinstall the jokerdroid Rom, after booting up download a2sd gui from the market to check everything is in the right place i.e apps and cache are on sd.

Hi all !
OK after reading a lot of stuff on the web (mainly modaco and xda), I finally understood a bit more this Apps2Sd thingy.
Like most people I have an "internal storage" problem on my desire
Now I managed to have fully rooted HTC Desire, with security off even though the bootloader is 0.9x using unrevoked. Great piece of software
Great so far, but I still have a space problem.
After further reading, I finally understood that thestandard Froyo Apps2Sd sucks and still eats up loads of internal memory because apps aren't designed to take advantage of it and a few other reasons but I digress.
So the only solution is to install the unofficial apps2sd or apps2sd+ (the ony diference being that app2sd+ also moves the dalvik cache, right ?)
However, so far, I've only read explanations about using a2sd/a2sd+ with a CUSTOM rom.
Now I know that modaco and xda custom roms are just great (used to test a few with my old acer liquid) but well I'm very satisfied of HTC stock rom indeed. Seriously, I can't see anything to change.
So, I'd like to use a2sd/a2sd+ but avoid going through wiping the phone, falshing a new rom and all...Furthermore, I took some time to link the contacts between gmail and facebook and I wouldn't like to do it again.
Is this possible to use a2sd/a2sd+ using the standard HTC rom, without having to flash a new custom rom ? And if yes, could some kindly explain me how ?
Best regards

Theres the script for apps2sd, not sure if you can just flash the .zip though.
IMO, you might not think there's anything to change until you experience the changes, just get a custom rom and reap the benefits.
No, you need init.d support. Get a custom rom.

Allright, I finally decided to use LeeDroid's rom and, so far so good ! PLenty of free phone memory, with a ton of apps !! Thanks a lot for your usefull comments.
I was in the same predicaent yesterday, but gave up as I had to go out!
I had LeeDroid with A2SD on the phone, but it still ran out of space when I installed Need For Speed... but this was probably because I didn't have my SD Card partitioned.
Am I right when I think that I have to backup my SD Card, then go into ROM Manager and simply format the card in there for A2SD?
I tried this, but I still only see my SD card as 1 partition when I look in Windows 7. Is this right - or should I see 2 partitions?
Sorry for the newb questions - but I want to get it all sorted before I start setting the phone up the way I want!!
Windows cannot see ext type partitions, so this is ok. Yeah, backup, use ROM manager to make the partition, then recopy the backup.
Get Quick System Info from the Market, you'll see there if the ext partition is used afterwards.

Thanks for the reply.
I checked my partition with Quick System Info - and something must've gone wrong as my A2SD partition is only 16mb with only 2mb free!!
What settings am I supposed to use when I use ROM Manager to make the partition? I'm pretty sure I set the first one to 512mb and the second to 0mb like I read somewhere. Is this wrong?
Yeah, thats ok 512mb for apps and 0 for swap. Try it couple times, maybe the ROM manager didn't do it properly for the 1st time. Check with Quick System Info when its done.
Actually, you can use anything you want to format your microSDHC card. I used a computer with linux, a card reader and gparted, and I found it way more straightforward than using the phone to do the job. Gparted is included in Ubuntu and yu even have gparted live disk/usb (go to gparted.sourceforge.net. Sorry can't post links on the forum yet )

Hi,
i was lookin for a solution too and i found it.
I am running on stock rom froyo 2.2 on my htc desire.
16gb micro sd card. - no data loss.
Here is the steps.
HTC desire has to be rooted. and S-OFF (not sure if it works without S-OFF)
Busybox installed.
Next , download Gparted to partition your SD Card. (can run in VM )
Run Gparted, mount your card, USe Gparted to shrink your sd card. (i have my pics and videos inside the card up to 12gb.. and i shrink to 13gb.. It takes a looooong time.. about 13 mins to shink.. thank god my data is still intact..
i partition the extra 1gb.. set it as primary too and then format it as ext2... i have tried ext3 and ext4.. it cant be recognized by Desire.
put back yr SD card.. (if you use a card reader.. or can jus partition using Desire mounted as disk drive)
Next.. download. Link2SD , search in market..
Run the app and it will be able to detect and ask you to select the drive.. ext2 and press ok.
now.. use the app to link up yr app.. those with FRoyo app2sd.. u can click 'move to phone' and then use link2sd to link it..
you will start to see that your internal memory will increase as u move and link more apps using link2SD...
Now go to the link2sd option and set it to 'auto link' new installed app.
once u installed any new app.. it will be linked...
if the app is auto installed to SD card via the Froyo app2sd.. simply go to manage application and move it to phone and the use link2sd to link it..
(no.. you will not see the 1g size when u go under settings, you can check storage under the link2sd app)
Note: once u mount yr Desire as disk drive .. you will need to reboot your phone else if you install any new app.. it will be install to your real internal memory even thou it says linked... if this happens.. you might see low memory notification.. jus reboot your phone.. and when rebooted, it will be re-link automatically..
Cheers! i used to have 15mb left.. now i have 50++ mb.. and yet installed alot of apps.. without flashing a rom.. this will helps if you guys jus need more internal storage and do not wat to risk or go thru the restoration of data..
as usual... before you do anything... do a nandroid backup using clockworkmod recovery or any recovery and also titantium backup to backup the apps data in case anything goes wrong
Phone working well for the past 3 days
That's just AWESOME !! Many thanks for the tip, that's exactly what I was looking for

This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for, but the bit about installing BusyBox came as a surprise. What does that do for you here?
Thanks
John
i installed RunnymedeMod007 (2.3.5 + sense 3.5) into desire yesterday, it is very lagging, while running an application the system crashed, i had to remove the battery to reboot the system.
Is this correct? Am i doing anything wrong? does anyone have same problem?
Thanks...
are u s-off? do u have ext4 partition? sd card class?
Yes, I did, I also have 1 G ext4 partition on sd card. Where I can check my sd card class?

Hello,
I am a noob and I hate myself.
I recently purchased a second hand HTC Desire with Lee Droid on it. Everything was working fine. Then the phone asked my if I wanted to update? I tried to update but it would not work. Then after a while it stopped asking me to update. Then a little while later it was on a start up loop. I took out the SD card and it work but I had no apps, etc.
Now I have a serious problem with internal storage. I did a factory reset (still has the Lee Droid ROM on it) and it shows I have 92mb of internal storage...instead of up to 1GB!
So....I decided to try a few things. After doing a bit of quick reading I decided to go with the original HTC Sense software. In trying to do this I get a 140 bootloader error...so I must be using the wrong ROM?
Getting slightly more frustrated now...
I figured out I had to partition the original SD card again to get it working and that had worked but now I only have 112mb of internal storage using that Sd Card (I had purchased another one when this stopped working). So the internal storage issue still applies. And the main thing with this for me is that apps such as facebook and more will not transfer to the SD card whereas I thought I could do this before? So even to have Facebook on it and upgrade the apps with the phone gives me a 'low memeory' notification.
SO I guess my question is..
Should I just go back to HTC Sense and what ROM do I use?
or
Should I try out a different ROM?
Bear in mind I did not flash the phone originally, and while not a complete computer noob I would be quiet nervous about doing this with out some experienced help.
Everything you need to know is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328
As a rough guide:
When you format your card you need an ext partition of say 1gb for app storage space (a2sd). The rest of the card should be fat32. This is to solve your low memory issues.
Download the custom rom of your choice to the fat32 partition of the sd card and boot the phone into recovery (volume down and power button then choose recovery). You probably have clockwork mod recovery or similar. Choose the option install zip from SD card.
Before you do this, in recovery you should wipe the dalvik cache and perform a wipe/factory reset.
Depending on the rom you use you will probably need to download and flash and a2sd script such as darktremour. This will make downloaded apps save to the ext partition automatically rather than to the phone memory.
It is worth doing as much reading up as poss before embarking on this and make sure you have enough charge in your phone when flashing or you might end up with a brick!
As for the choice of rom you need to decide if you want a rom with HTC sense included or an AOSP rom.

Ok thanks. Do you know any way I can find out which HTC Sense ROM is for my phone?
No matter what I do the internal memory is always lower than 120mb. It should be 512mb max right? I just did a factory reset again and it's at 77mb without any apps installed ot gmail or facebook profiles added! It these any way to fix this first off before I read more into flashing the phone with a different ROM?

Unless u use a2sd,ad2sd,int2sd or some script to move something to your sd partition,
you aren't going to have any more memory.
I think I should really go back to Sense before I do anything else or drive myself mad!
I tried another Sense ROM and it says I need to have my battery over 30pc but it's nearly fully charged!!!

But I had more internal memory before. How do I install these?
And how can I find out what Sense ROM is for my phone?
I have downloaded the app 2 sd and done the sdk thing...
but it still does not solve my internal memory issue and why was it so big before on a rooted phone? The phone is still rooted. So it should be the same? Do I need to get my SD card to count as internal storage somehow. Any links?

The guides for installing the customs roms u download r probably in the rom thread where the rom came from.
If it says ur battery is < 30% then u r using a RUU and u will need the correct one for ur phone.
Or use the 2.3 Ruu upgrade for Desire from HTC/Dev.
I think this is your best solution - CM7 which is a great rom without HTC sense.
If you have not created your ext partition yet do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932824
Then flash this rom:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=bravo&type=stable
Installation instructions for the rom are here:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/forum-36/announcement-23-cyanogenmod-72-released-2012-jun-16/
Then install S2E from the play store. This includes an a2sd script and has tick boxes to chose what to send to your SD ext partition.
Then you are done

OK...a friend did the following:
Updated my android because I was still on 2.2
Updated the root to Andreev
Installed Ice Cream Sandwich...the current BETA I think...which works fine but lately the phone freezes sometimes
First I thought you were on about memory to SD swap apps on the market so I did a bit of reading. I installed S2E but cannot or do not know how to get it working. It asked me to install something else which kept giving me a 'cannot respond' message.
I tried to install A2SDGUI as per some guide but it says that either my phone is not rooted, I do not have an EXT partition or A2sd scripts are not installed.
I tried to install EXTions on both my SD cards both manually using partition software and using ROM Manager. They both show up as having a regular FAT32 partition, and EXT one and a Linux one. They still do not work.
I have tried using various different partition softwares and my head is in a spin form them and different guides. I cannot get Gparted to work, how do I get the Image from the download or install it on my PC?
I also think I have moved my Dalvik Cache to my original SD card and not the phone tells me I have 141mb free internal memory but I get 'insufficient space' messages when trying to download apps or update them. Since I did this, even when putting on my manual SD backup from my new SD card back onto it I get messages saying 'app does not exist, even on the Play Market one. Play Market works fine on the original SD card which I think I have moved the Dalvik cache to.
There is also no nandroid backup on the new SD card as I get an error message...
Please please please someone help me. All I want to do now is get more internal memory and have everything working with my new 4GB SD card in the phone. Thanks to everyone who posted links to guides but I am still getting to terms with some of the terminology and may need guides to do some of the things that are listed in the guides. As it is now I cannot download any new apps. When the phone was rooted to Ice Cream Sandwich I could only download about 3 apps and cannot update youtube, maps, google, mail, etc.

Most of the scripts will show your internal storage as normal, then report a a2sd partion.
The only two that report your internal AND est partion as one block are data2sd, and the ammurlez script. Both of these are flashable with Lee Droid, but afterwards. If you did a factory reset this would restore your Lee Droid ROM but wipe your data2sd or ammurlez script. This is why before updating anything, or flashing a new zip CWM backups are your friend.
Just "factory reset" it again, this DOES NOT" change your hboot or SD partions, then flash the ammurlez or data2sd scripts. Your phone will be as before reporting 1gb internal memory.
Or......play with all the awesome ROM and script possibilities on this forum till you find a setup you love......speed versus storage, sense versus aosop versus mui etc.
Most peoples signatures list their setup, try em all!

The gparped image needs to be burned to cd rom. Just google how to do it. Then boot your pc with the cd in the drive and gparted will load up.
If you follow the guide I left earlier methodically step by step using the actual rom suggested it should work. Please note S2E only works on CM7 or CM9 roms only.
If try CM7 and don't like it you can flash something else after but at least you will have everything working and also gain an understanding of the steps you need to go through to do it.

MildWild MW-9 Based on Redux2 what scripts can i run with this rom cos am goin to redo my whole phone from scatch cos of random rebooting with 4ext Recovery
Don't flash scripts. They usually don't help at all.
ive got MildWild cm-8.0 jb on and its memory keeps filling up & itrandomly reboots ice used 4ext before to partition 1 gig on my 32gig card where am i going wrong cos i had it fully working on me small 4gig card but not on the new 32gig one!!!!
hiting the thabks button for you again many thanks
Oh...you mean a2sd scripts. Mw-9 has a script integrated. No need for others.
yes i meant a2sd i should have said shouldnt i
so if i just put Mw-9 on after ive used 4ext to make one EXT4 partition on the sd card should that make it worked correctly?
hitin thanks again
Yes, it should work. You should be able to easily install over 100 apps (who needs those many?) Check the partitioning guide in my sig if it still doesn't work.

They are moved by the android system. You don't need to move them manually.
You just need to either flash a ROM with a2sd (Most roms), or flash an a2sd script separately (Gave some examples in the guide)
hi all,
the main reason for me unlocking my arc s was to mount an ext4 partition so there was no more agro with running out of internal ram.
ive tried various roms with various kernals and various scripts, the closest i got to one working was latest vengeance + latest viper + int2ext4+
but it kept lagging on video and internet..
i really liked viper but hdmi missing so waiting or 6.5....
ive just put lupusv16 + UHD4 + UHD mod and it is very impressive, the screen is better almost as stock with bravia2, hdmi very good and camera also very good, the question is which script definatly works properly with this setup? i dont want to move swap to int, just link ext4 on sd to int ram ??
cheers

Did you formated it correctly?
I mean, both partitions, fat32 and ext must be primary and some users told me that i have to do them with a sd reader...
I use Link2sd in GB and it works fine (ext4, 2GB minus the journal)

I mean, both partitions, fat32 and ext must be primary and some users told me that i have to do them with a sd reader...
I use Link2sd in GB and it works fine (ext4, 2GB minus the journal)

Hi,
i plugged my 8gb sd card into my laptop and wiped it, then created a 6gb fat 32 partition, a 1.7gb ext4 partition & the remainder about 300mb as swap. then mounted fat copied hd4 rom, hd4 mod and int2ext to it. then into phone, booted to recovery, installed rom as per thread, rebooted phone, left it 20 mins, booted to recovery, flashed hd4 mod, rebooted phone, left for 20 mins, booted to recovery, installed int2ext script. rebooted phone, then it hangs on boot..
from what ive seen the int2ext scripts are difficult to get working correctly with no lag, fc's ect.
cheers

First of you are on ICS 4.0.4/stock fw 0587 aren't you.
Cos lupus kernel ver16 is for ICS.
Like what angel said both has got to be primary.
Your 6gb/primary/Fat32
Your 1.6gb/primary/Ext4
You should delete link2sd,or any other CronMod extension versions from your sdcard before you flash the CronMod INTEXT2.
After done flashing go to mount n storage and format sd-ext.Reboot.
If everything goes well look in titanium backup or setting/storage.It will show the internal memory you just acquired.
If you get bootloop after that then wipe cache and delvic cache and reflash it again following the above procedure again.
But I don't think you'll come to that.If all requirements are met than its a piece of cake.
Try it again. And one more thing,it doesn't lag if not it only faster from my experience using it.
Tell us of the outcome.By the way clicking the thanks button would be sufficient enough to anyone who assist you in the future here on xda.
Cheers.

thanks dude,
its working, i formatted it with recovery and it worked?, i then checked the partition on my laptop and it wasnt bootable but it still works?
i then deleted the ext4 partition on my laptop and repartitioned it and didnt make it bootable and the phone booted straight up working.
i did use int2ext+ this time and not int2ext
dont know why it didnt work before unless something had put a file on the partition?
anyway
cheers

ok, its working with apps and streaming video is fine ( it wasnt before it was really laggy and fc)
so i got as far a tesing a game, and its sooo laggy its unplayable.
im gunna forget it, i dont think my sd card is fast enough, benchmark 20ms read, 5ms write.
cheers

Had you tried use an app for linking the ext rather than just install a script? I know that it's basically the same but still...
By the way, this is what i do, and its working:
0- Make a nandroid backup
1- Install Mini partition tool wizard
2- Clear the sd - Clic on apply
3- Create a new fat32 partition (13355 MB, 13GB) Default cluster and set as primary - apply
4- In the unnalocated space make the ext 4 partition (2GB - Journal) set as primary - apply
5- Copy the backup into the sd
6- format everything like when you install a new rom
7- restore
8- Download link2sd and select the ext partition
9- Reset
10- Move apps to it :/
My sd card is class 10 but honestly i dont feel so much difference with a class 4 :/

If not works, maybe you should try asking to jader coz he made the rom you use

Thanks for taking the time to reply
i re installed rom & mod again, tested game and it was fine, so its def the script, i used int2ext this time instead and it was slightly better as it leaves data on internal for speed so im going to leave it untill i get a class 10 card then try int2ext again.
