[Q] RunnymedeMod007 lagging - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i installed RunnymedeMod007 (2.3.5 + sense 3.5) into desire yesterday, it is very lagging, while running an application the system crashed, i had to remove the battery to reboot the system.
Is this correct? Am i doing anything wrong? does anyone have same problem?
Thanks...

are u s-off? do u have ext4 partition? sd card class?

Yes, I did, I also have 1 G ext4 partition on sd card. Where I can check my sd card class?

Install the MCR3.1 with A2SD+ on a rooted Desire but on a new SDCARD

Hello guys, i have a question, some may call it noob some may thought it themselves. i am currently rooted and using mcr3.1 without problems at all but i don't have the apps2sd.
i want to try it and i baked a new rom from the kitchen with the a2sd+ option integrated but i don't want to mess up my current sdcard and want to use another one i have. can i do that ???
as i see it i must do the following:
1) while my CurrentCard is inserted make a nandroid from the fake-flash recovery
2) turn off the phone and insert the new card
3) put the update.zip (for fake-flash) and the baked rom onto the sd card
4) now go into recovery (fake-flash) and choose to install new rom
will this work ok ?????
in addition as i see on my SDCARD some applications like titanium backup or astro or htc mail, rom manager, wifi tether etc have some files on it into their respective folders. will i be ok if i copy-paste them after the procedure into their folders in the fat partition???? or the a2sd+ uses some other m,ethod for the apps to store their info ????
THANKS for all the help
That should be fine...just don't forget to partition the new sd card for a2sd
do i need to make it with gparted or the rom makes it by default ???
The recovery image has it all. Look!

yeah i haven't taken a look into the recovery before...is there any update.zip that adds the a2sd+ to my current configuration ????
No because it's already part of the rom. Your sd just needs partitioning correctly.
Back up your sd card, boot into recovery. Go to partition menu and partition sd card.
Mine is swap 0, ext 512, fat remaining space. Then you can copy your sd backup back to the fat32 partition.
That's it all apps will install to sd card.

Desire Flashing Probs or Not?

Hi Guys
I flash my Phone now many Times and i have always Problems whit my Device after Flashing. Many Roms have no Lockscreen, i can't send MMS or another things. I read "all" tuts but maybe i do anything wrong :>
1. I Root my Desire whit Unrevoked (newest) whit Custom Recovery (recovery-RA_2.0.1)
2. I splitt my SD Card whit the tool on Revnet.
2a. 3GB @ FAT32 & 1GB @ EXT4
3. Copy the ROM on my SD Card(latest Rom Aces v19(?)).
4. Run Recovery
4a. Wipe Data, devlik cache (I Wipe All! ok no SD-EXT).
4b. Install zip from SD Card
5. Installation - wait wait wait wait wait...
6. Settings + Install Apps...
Is this Wrong?
Alex
EDIT - I USE ONLY A2SD - NO S-OFF ROMS!!!!!!
2 things
1. flash the latest radio
2. if you didn't use Gparted or your recovery the ext4 won't work, if you used it just flash the latest radio
I use the last radio :'( nobody idee?

Do your restore settings even if you use an aosp rom when coming from sense rom or reverse? Partition your sd card directly in recovery or with gparted (both primary). Never use other tools, it seems they cause problems.
I use gParted for my SD Card EXT4- I Restore always Nothing. If i install a new Rom, i fill all manuel I have Time and Emails/SMS ... dont need it ^^
In which order do you create partitions? Are they both set to primary?

[Q] Partition SD card

hey guyz ... well i hv a rooted phone and it has jokersdroid rom on it...well my question is i see in rom manager something called " partition SD card" so is it possible to do it ..i mean will it work on htc wildfire? cuz i ve read in some places ppl complaining tht it didnt work..
and another noob questions..,if i partitioned the card succefully thn all the apps will be saved on SD card rite ??
thnx in advance, waiting for reply!
It worked for me, so, I don't think there will be any issues in partitioning via ROM Manager. Just remember to make a backup of your SD Card before doing that, because partitioning it will format it.
After partitioning, you will have to enable Apps2SD, there is a post in the last 4-5 pages by the ROM creator how to enable Apps2SD, you can just look it up. After setting it up, all apps will go to the SD Card.
hey thanx for the help...i just wanted to make sure tht i got the CWM V. 2.5.0.7...its okay wid tht rite...? and thanx again.
Yes, Android 2.1 / 2.2 ROMs need CWM 2.x, so you should be fine with 2.5.0.7
well i did it...the phone works fine...but all of my previously installed apps are not working.....how do i get thm bak..as i dnt want to download all of them again....please help
You needed to have backed them with a backup app like Titanium backup.
yeah thnx i figuered out tht....but i only have one question left...why after all tht my internal memory is still showing 63 mb left only! why not 160mb..?
thnx for all this help
Most probably because your dalvik cache is still on the internal memory.
Refer this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15005303&postcount=212
Since you already have partitioned your SDCard, you might just try to reflash the ROM.
Hey im in a mess here...its not only tht i got 60 mb...but whn i install apps ...some of thm eats up space frm phone memory...shldnt nw all things be installed on sd card...?
And can u describe inshort how to reflash a rom..by steps..
Tht would be my laaaaast request frm u...thnx in advance..

Might be a redundant question but have you done a2sd cachesd through a terminal emulator?
Sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium App
I've been having the same problem with my jokerdroid Rom tried using a terminal and a2sd GUI, but kept getting cannot mount sd-ext.... tried everything I know of to mount the ext partition but eventually got sick of trying so just reflashed the Rom and everything is fine now.
Reboot into recovery 2.x wipe everything and then choose install from zip and reinstall the jokerdroid Rom, after booting up download a2sd gui from the market to check everything is in the right place i.e apps and cache are on sd.

my desire won't root

Hey,
I folowed this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044
but it gives an error when rooting:
Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?
What do i have to do to fix this?
Jaapie
Did you upgraded to gingerbread before rooting? If yes, you have to use this tool:
http://revolutionary.io
Read documentary side before doing anything.
I've got Android version 2.2.
I'm reading your documentary now
I'm going to use the tool now,
my phones has:
HTC Desire
bravo-0.93.0001
Android 2.2
Lets hope!
Okay,
The cmd disapeared and my phone is still in the boot menu.
What do i do now?
Can i root my phone now?
Thanks for the help!
------------------------------
Okay, i tried to root, it didn't give any error, it just ends with: done..
But when it restart my phone is just exactly the same as before, how do i know it rooted succesfully?
If you have the superuser app, you're rooted
Revolutionary does give you root access. After using this tool, you have to flash the zip from documentary page in recovery.

Thanks for all the help!
It worked, i installed a rom and it works great.
I have only 1 more problem, the main reason i rooted my phone was because i had too low internal storage on my phone, i have like 34 mb to instal apps!
Some apps can be put on your sd-card, but after installing 2 apps i couldn't download a 3th! So i still can't do anything with my new rom xD.
So my question is if you know how i can use my SD card of 3 gig to save all my apps and maybe even my ROM!
I hope you guy's can help me!

Create an EXT partition on your sdcard. Then install an A2SD+ or Data2EXT rom.

Good to know here is one should only use data2sd rom with an sd card which has minimum class 6. It may work with a very good class 4, but with class one is on the safe sid.

Well i tried doing that with the ROM manager, but it gives an error in the recovery:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
Waiting for SD Card to mount (20s)
SD Card mounted...
Verifying SD Card marker...
SD Card marker not found...
Error verifying extendedcommand.
Error processing ROM Manager script. Please verify you have ROM Manager v4.4.0.0 or higher installed.
/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM Manager to report the issue
So i go to the ROM Manager info to see what version it is and its: 4.3.2.3
And then i go to the app store to download ROM Manager so it gets the new version and now got 4.5!
I tried again to partitioning the SD card and now i believe it worked!
I now have 102 MB to put apps on istead of 32 Mb!
Great! Thanks guy's, now i can finally use my phone!
Jaapie
GREEDY?..u want more space?..MOVE UR DALVIK CACHE TO sd-ext that u created, works great for me,i have 262mb of apps + abt 700mb free space for apps 2

[Q] Totallay LOST.

So hi there, i am going to give as much detail as possible so that hopefully someone can help me as i know NOTHING about rooting phones or any of the jargon. So please be patient.
SO...
Bought an HTC desire from gumtree here in the UK about 3 months ago not knowing it was a rooted phone, when the phone started it used to say RC MIX and i know it was on RUNNYMEDE, but i have bno idea which version.
Sadly the SD card has gone BUST leaving me with a hanging screen on the boot screeen (not the white HTC screen but the BEATS screen after the white screen)
SO after ALOT of googling i came across the RUNNYMEDE tutorial and download with had the stable and beta versions so i downloaded the stable version.
Heres where things got a bit funny for me.
After transferring the Runnymede ZIP file to the 4gb sd card and doing the doing the partion ext4 thing it will not allow me to install from zip as it does not find the ZIP file after doing the partition, although before doing the partion the ZIP file showed file in EXT4 recovery. SO me being me i just reformatted the sd card to FAT32, the put the ZIP file onto card and installed runnymede using the installer which al went well.
Then i Transferred the files from sd to PC, Partitioned the SD card and put the stuff BACK onto the SD card from PC.
Sadly none of this has worked for me and ia m at a total loss.

ANY help would be great and if any moreinfo is needed PLEASE just ask.
Thanks for your time
Partitioning ur sdcard wipes it clean, thats why zip file aint there. So partition ur sdcard again, 1gb (1024) ext4 then copy the rom zip to sdcard, then go to wipe/format and press format all partitions except sdcsrd then flash the rom. Should boot fine then.
Maybe update radio to latest version from here

Huh?
Thanks for the answers. In the end i went to the top of this forum to troubleshooting and used the TUT and installed Cryro, which is now working great on the phone.
I just need one more teeny bit of help if possible.
Now my SD card is registering as DAMAGED, which its not lol and will not mount (it is fat32 formatted and has zip files for crya mod and runnymede, that is ALL) Can i just format the sd again? Will thephone still run or are there files needed for the phone to boot on the SD card?
I have NO android market app and need it soooooooo bad.. whats the quickest way to get it on there... cheers again.

For runnymede rom u need to make a partition on ur sdcard for the rom to work, because of the size of the rom. So if uv anything on ur sdcard u want to keep then copy it to pc. Now we have to partition ur sdcard, so boot into recovery,
go to tools and choose partition sdcard,
then choose remove all partitions and start from scratch,
then choose 1024,
then press skip then skip again,
it will then ask to choose ext3 or ext4? Choose ext4.
When its finished go to main menu and choose
wipe/format then format all partitions except sdcard.
Once thats done, copy runnymede rom back to sdcard then install the rom and once thats done reboot. First boot will take up to 10 mins so dont pull battery after 5 haha. Theres a guide here on xda by abaaaabbb on how to partition sdcard if u get stuck but ul be fine if u just follow my instructions.
