DO we know if anymore new handsets are being released with WP7 something preferably 4G for tmo or sprint
we don't know, but there may be some announcements at CES in a couple of days
I know that the Asus phone is being released pretty soon and the HTC 7 Pro on Sprint (most likely it will be 4G).

Highly doubtful it would be 4g, since WP7 currently doesn't support it.

I am buying ASUS phone the day its getting released.. its by far the most professional looking WP7 so far.. maybe after Dell Venue Pro..
I regret not buying ASUS P750 every single day of my life.. I went for HP Ipaq 614C which was a miserable choice.
Can anyone tell me what model, what company this Phone is???
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr_n-aoohoI
Its the phone they use in a lot of their marketing materials, I don't believe its real.
Omnia looks closest though.
I am guessing that they will releases the Asus phone at MWC, which isn't too far away. Oh and Toshiba is releasing a WP7 phone sometime in the future, maybe an Acer phone.
Well CES came and went and WP7 was barely a blip in the radar besides the update confirmatin coming this month. im starting to become a little dissapointed as MS, to me, is unfortunately not being aggresive enough following WP7 deployment
Yes, CES was a failure for WP7, not much news, very upsetting in my eyes, Android really showed their azz. Putting Wp7 to shame. I was expecting to see something.
what were y'all expecting to see??? The OS just released, a little early for a huge showing at CES.

It was CES!!
The reason why there was little to no announcements on the mobile front from anyone (even the Android announcements were majority tablet based) was because MWC is just over a month away:
http://www.mobileworldcongress.com/
It is here where they will announce more phones, what's featured in the update to come, new games etc etc.

I kind of think tablets were the main focus. Even though AT&T and Verizon released a boatload of phones, not many phones were released for Sprint or T-Mobile and even those phones weren't so hot.
Well, last year they did unveil Windows Phone 7. I would expect something big this year.

Rumors are going around that Samsung could announce the first 4G WP7 at MWC next month. I'm not getting my hopes too high though. This is only a rumor which is based on 'hints' from a Samsung head.
http://wmpoweruser.com/samsung-hinting-at-4g-windows-phone-7-smartphone/
Besides that, I'm expecting Sprint and Verizon to have their WP7s by April and the second generation of handsets sometime between August and November.
I agree with MWC being next month where we'll get more WP news, and maybe new form factors (chassis 2 and 3?)
In the end, M$ needs to push really hard in getting the word out, I don't think much people even know about WP7 and what advantages it has over competing platforms. Once M$ can get more public awareness, will we see OEM's have more confidence in the platform, and produce more handsets.
We will see a lot more at MWC from WP7. CES is about a lot more than just phones, and is really a bad place to for a company like MS to focus on their phone platform. MWC is the proper stage to do that, and they will.
I think we see the big news being CDMA phones; and secondary to that will be the first update (either just released or to be released very soon), hints at the next update(s), and a glimpse of WP7 phones to be released this summer. Anymore, phones have about a 6 month cycle, so by summer the first release of WP7 handsets will be due for updates.

I'm not sure why people think MS will announce anything CDMA-related there. MWC is an international event and for the past number of years, almost every single phone announced there was GSM-only (i.e. requires SIM card).
MS could just drop some general info about when CDMA phones will be available, but I seriously doubt they will go into any further details and will instead launch more devices for international markets.

This coming update will provide drivers for the new snapdragon chips. The ones that are capable of 14.4 mpbs down. I am guessing we will have HSPA+ really soon.
Engadget's just posted a really nice preview of Windows Phone Mango, you guys should all check it out.
Bad news? Seems like it's still slated for Q4 of this year. Kinda glad I sold my Trophy now - so much for Multitasking in March.
Anyway, good luck!

That's not being a realist. They've already stated this will be released this fall on countless occasions. Nokia has also already stated at least one phone will be released this year as well.
Its coming this year, and I bet they are working overtime to get this out by sept. if possible at least as an update to already circulating hardware.
Mid 2012 at least? That will likely be the newly discovered Tango update. Apollo will follow and likely tie in with Windows 8.

I agree. Microsoft seems to be much more aggressive with the way Mango is being hyped this early in the development cycle. I will not be at all surprised to see phones with Mango pre-loaded, on store shelves before the end of September. And, I also expect the majority of carriers to be in a status of "delivering update" by mid-October at the latest.
Of course, I also believe that Samsung Focus users on AT&T will probably not receive the update until mid-2012 (still waiting for 7392 here), so in that sense I guess both extremes of the prediction scale are correct.
After reading and watching a lot of the Mango previews around the web I was surprised when I realized that even after iOS 5 was announced, and even comparing Mango to the current state of Android, that Mango is incredibly relevant and probably will be when launched -- hopefully with new hardware. Usually software announcements this far ahead of time really become dated quickly, but most of the features added really bring a lot of parity to Windows Phone.

If it were I in his position, I would respond with: because I shouldn't have to.
Microsoft promised updates, and so far have failed in delivering them in a consistent manner.
Still a huge wp7 fan, don't get me wrong. I don't ever see myself using another platform, but just being honest here.
I agree to a point, but I don't fault Microsoft for this situation. I lay all of the blame right at the feet of AT&T. Their contempt for their customers is astounding. Unfortunately I'm kind of stuck, since I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan, and jumping ship to get the same deal from Verizon before they close the door on their similar plan would incur a sizable ETF.
And, after the Chevron updater near-debacle, I'm a little gun shy of any workarounds that might speed the update process along via unsupported channels. So what's a guy to do?
When will it be???.

The word I have heard from my source is late summer for a release, and into consumers hands sept/oct. And this was later vindicated at the MIX event.
I bet Sept, with the release of new phones. December at the latest. Any bets?

Exactly. And people also need to stop pretending that Microsoft ever stated that NoDo would be released in January (or February, or March). They never did.
As for Mango, as far as I can recall, all they have ever officially said (so far) is later this year. If I had to guess, I would say that it will be available on new devices in late September / early October, and on existing devices starting in October. But, as I've said before, AT&T will be (by far) the last to approve the update. So between them and Samsung's pathetic firmware reputation, I doubt that I'll see it on my Focus before next February, if ever. Which means I will probably be looking for a new phone by November.
Glad i dont have a samsung device, my guess mango for htc will be out first
I'm perfectly ok with beta 2 until Mango is available for everybody.
Excited to see the changes between beta 2 and final.
Samsung Focus v 1.3.. so I've had 0 update troubles.
If they learned from their mistakes with Nodo, I'd expect Mango around September/October for existing and new devices.

I think NoDo taught them one thing or two and I definitely think it will be this year. Reasons for that being:
- Microsoft officially said 2011 a few times
- There are new devices scheduled for release this year that will come with Mango onboard
- the new iPhone will be released this year as well as Android's Ice-cream Sandwich
- All developers are currently using Mango
My bet is November as that's when all the Fall updates have been released on the console side although they should really aim for September before the iPhone 5 is out.
That being said, since you're thinking 2012 you can only be pleasantly surprised when you get it before that

Saw this article and also an article from HTC Vietnam
http://blog.htcsmartphone.com.vn/?p=1837 (use Google Translate if you want)
That mean, we can pick up new device on September 1st?
I can wait to renew my contract.
Sep 1st = Mango Release + Call of Duty XP
Sep 2st = Vietnamese Independence Day + Call of Duty XP
Too good for September.
I wouldn't count on seeing the update happen on Sept 1st. Microsoft is already saying that it won't release then and I cannot imagine the carriers have their crap together well enough to get ready for deployment by that time.
I would tend to agree, but it is also worth pointing out that Belfiore didn't actually say it wouldn't be released on the first. All he said is that it was a rumor (which means nothing more than it didn't come from an official Microsoft announcement). After all, when the first RTM announcement leaked, Microsoft was quick to say that it was also just a rumor, despite the fact that it was only 3 days away from actually happening.
I'm not trying to build up false hope, but at the same time, all we really have to go on is a rumor (that pocketlint believes to be credible) and a very vague response on Twitter.
As for carriers being ready, I just look back at NoDo. The HTC Arrive was ready to go a full month before most carriers had their upgrade testing completed for existing devices. If it means selling new hardware, rest assured they won't spin their wheels.
I am gonna have a new contract soon... do i have to buy a damn pre-paid simcard just to wait for new mango device?
Am I missing something here? At this point it is out of microsoft's hands right? Isnt it essentially up to the carriers when an update will be released?

You mean the same way they "debunked" the release of the Mango beta to developers? There was a blog post that said it was coming "this week" (meaning the week of the post), and Microsoft's "debunking" response was "nothing is happening this week". While that was true, the release did happen, the next week. Or is it like the "debunking" of the RTM of Mango, which was reported on a number of sites as happening "today" (meaning the day of the report), which Microsoft "debunked" as "it's not happening today". Again, their statement was true, but it didn't bother to mention the fact that it was going to happen just 3 days later.
So, forgive me if I take Joe's very cryptic, ambiguous "Sept 1? Just a rumor." comment as much of a debunking. Maybe it won't happen on the 1st. Maybe it will be announced on the 2nd, at IFA. Or maybe it won't happen until a few weeks later. Just about anything is possible at this point.

It's not often Belfiore just openly states that it is just a rumor. Heck he posts windows phone, but not often to say whether something is valid or not. That's more of Brandon's schtick. Whether its one day or next week, we can say no Mango for Sept. 1...
We can speculate until the cows come home but there's no proof.
Okay, i will just hold my HD7 for a little bit longer and for CoD XP.

Some said 15th earlier, which is on next week's Thursday. I hope this is true. Time for me to play those registry tricks to see if I can install extra languages.
But not sure if DVP will follow this schedule.......
The way Microsoft and reliable sources are talking, it seems as though Microsoft may have used some of its strength on carriers and we'll see a much more expedited release. That isn't to say some, or many, won't be delayed, but I doubt it'll be a NoDo type delay.
I will be amazed if my phone gets the update this side of Christmas and I refuse to het my hopes up

Yup, that's why we were supposed to back up our backup.
I think this time around, once MS announces the Mango update rollout schedule, most of the devices will get it fairly quickly. MS should have learnt a thing or two from the NoDo episode.

Keep in mind, The marketplace started accepting apps for Mango a few weeks ago. No Dev is going to release new apps for NoDO when Mango will offer more features in the API and everyone should have it soon.
Microsoft has a big push in getting Mango in everyone's hands ASAP.
The question is, how it will be done, the leaked roms from HTC are making people nuke their phones to install it, most carriers are going to want people to do it as a upgrade, because of data loss=support nightmare.
Time will tell but, I will bet it will be within the next 2 weeks for 90% of the carriers (huge carriers almost 99%)
Sadly MS is highly unpredictable. There was an overflow of rumors and statements made about the condition of WP7 upon initial release, which panned out to be false. Then there was another wildly overflowing number of rumors and statements made about the release of NoDo. NoDo was finally released when nobody really even cared anymore.
Mango was initially set for Sep./Oct of this year. If it happens, it will be the first time in recorded human history where MS has kept a date.

Still on 7712 here. Didn't get the unofficial 7720 because not much is different in it. Im hoping I don't have to go back to nodo. Even though I have a backup (multiple in fact) its just annoying to lose my settings from mango. hopefully I can go from 7712 to official mango

7712 directly to official is highly unlikely as 7712 is beta and in the beta que. As has been said, 7720.68 may be back into the official release que (carrier and oem updates seem to come through) so a 7712 to 7720.68 to official release just might be a feasible update path that doesn't lose anything. Time will tell.

Microsoft completed Mango in July. What we are waiting on right now is the carriers (and handset makers, although it does appear that most/all of them are done now). If a release is announced in the coming days, it will be because the carriers have completed their testing and possible changes, and submitted whatever they have back to Microsoft, not because we are still waiting on them.
Yep if telenav breaks all the customers get boned cause the carrier wants their 9.99/mo... Its pretty sad, but I'm starting to think about dropping my smartphones (4 a dumbphone) and getting a 7" tab to save money and not have to deal with that in th future. this seems not o be worth it anymore...
