Hey people,
Just rooted my HTC Desire yesterday and today my phone will no longer enter into the boot menu when I hold the volume down and press power.
Got a stable version of Insert Coins' Gingerbread/sense rom on there at the moment and it boots up fine into that and works perfectly, but yeah like I said I've lost access to the boot menu and am unable to roll back or anything like that.
Pull the battery out and try again

Go to menu/settings/power and select fast start-up or something like that. The new sense gb roms have a new feature that keeps the phone in hibernation.

Hi!
Today I woke up to a non working desire
It simply won't boot correctly, the only thing it shows is the HTC boot screen and it's stuck with this screen. Any ideas what's wrong or what I can do about this besides sending it in?
PS: the desire is not rooted.
thanks!
Try holding down the back button when you power on, then try factory reset from the menu (select using volume up n down keys and power button) it could be an app that's crashing and stopping boot.
Be warned you are likely to loose everything on your phone!

Thanks for your advice!
I did as you told but chose no when asked to delete user data. Since then it works again.
Seems strange but I'm happy that the desire is working again and no data is lost/deleted!
Hi,
I rooted my htc desire but some problems with the wifi were happening, anyhow at the end I installed a custom ROM, which made my desire completly going into black screen.
Then without knowing what I was doing I went into the recovery mode and change some stuff without really knowing.
And now when I turn off and on the phone the only thing that I get is the white screen with the Bootloader version and the options for entering into recovery mode and so on, which I guess my phone has no OS or image.
I have tried to donwload 2.2 firmware and try to install it via the sd card but is not working.
Does anybody here have any idea what can I do.
Thanks in advance
Turn on your phone by pressing the Back button and Power button for 5 seconds.
The bootloader menu appears - Press Recovery and wait until it boots into recovery.
From here on out do whatever - Mount USB storage and put a new ROM on the root of your SDcard. Wipe everything and flash the ROM.
Should work fine.
Thanks s lot for your help. Highly appreciate it

I try to power off my HTC, and after i press and hold the top "power" button for seconds, then I choose power off, screen goes black. but it's not actually being powered off, coz once I try to go into bootloader mode (VOL DOWN + POWER BUTTON), I can never go inside, but it goes straight into the normal Android system, and also it only needs one second to go into the normal system again, so I think the phone is not really powered off, but in some kind of sleeping mode. Anyone here can help me out?? Thanks very much.
P.S. i have flashed a new ROM (REVOLUTION 5.1.7), and also i have tried to reset to factory mode. but it does not help.
Do you have fastboot on in settings? It prevents the phone from turning off completely and thus giving a faster startup. That's probably why you can't get to the bootloader mode. You can also take out the battery for a couple of minutes, put it back and then boot into the bootloader.

Thanks, maybe that's the problem.
Sorry to sound like an arse here, but the quick boot setting was one of this phones most hyped features when it was released....oh my!

I don't get your point? It's not like you need to boot into bootloader several times a day. The few times you need to you can just turn off the fastboot option and then turn it back on when your done. The bootloader mode isn't even meant to be used by the average user.

Got the same PB with the same rom but version 5.1.4,
The only way I found is to install ROM MANAGER and launch recovery with it.
Concerning bootloader, battery removing !
really anoying, and yes, fast boot is disabled.
Hello,
I have one HTC One X, and i use Android Revolution HD 9.1.X and i try to upgrade to 9.7.2 today.
I boot in to recovery, start the upgrade, everything seems to be ok, i press reboot, but the phone stops and i can not access HBOOT menu. I try Press Volume Down and Power to start the device into Bootloader mode, but nothing happen. Only the nice HTC quietly brilliant
Can I fix this? yes i can

Hi... I have been using CyanogenMod for at while.. And it has been running great...
Then yesterday my phone started acting up, so i restarted it....
Not it gets stuck on the CyanogenMod startup screen when i turn it on...
And I can not enter bootloader, I have removed the battery, and then powered it on while holding volume down down, like I normaly do...
But i just end up on that CyanogenMod loading screen no matter what i try...
Is there another way to force it into bootloader or to force flash a new rom? (The rom i am currently on has been working fine for over a month, untill this happend)
I really hope someone has an idea... Please do ask if you need more info from me
Best Regards.

Hold your volume down before holding power button at the same time. Wait until it went into bootloader. If it is not, most probably your hardware keys is broken.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
