I have an HTC TP2 on US Cellular and just installed the latest Mightyrom (which is a fantastic rom)and I have a tiny problem. A few weeks ago I dropped my phone and the left hand bottom part of the screen popped out of the board a little bit. The screen responded fine until I pushed the screen back to it's original position and super glued the screen back into place. The screen completely stopped responding today! The buttons work, display works, and the keyboard works. But it will not respond AT ALL to touches on the screen. I cannot afford a screen or digitizer, and cannot afford another phone!! Please, provide me with info on what to do...I have always had faith in the HTC community and have never had any other phone...I can't even afford a penny phone. Can I replace the phone for free through the belief project if I'm under 18 without my dad knowing? Please provide the most effective way....email me or text my brother's phone (xxx) xxx-xxxx Ask for Nathan

Ok, first of all, NEVER give out your number on a public forum. Anyone on the Internet can see this thread whether or not they have an account.
Secondly, if it isn't responding to taps, then you will likely need to get a new digitizer. The only way to replace a device under warranty is to be the primary account holder for the line of service. Either tell your dad what happened, or get a new digitizer and replace it. There really aren't any other options.

Hello all,
I've dropped my HTC desire and the screen is neatly cracked. However it works fine, responds to all touch and commands.
After having read the forums I understand that the screen is basically two parts and I've broken the glass bit but not the actual screen (I think).
I've never opened up a phone or done any hardware repairs and not confident about doing so.
How should I get it fixed? Go to some shop? Send it off to HTC?
I'd really appreciate your help as am a design student and can't afford a big bill. It wasn't insured but they never pay out anyway do they! I was tempted to insure it now hahaha but would prefer your help.
Generally its better to replace the digitizer and lcd screen, but if you ring htc up they should tell you the best course of action, it might be a pricey repair tho

1 of my friends has the same problem...but he changed the cracked screen with a new one(original screen was SLCD-the new screen is AMOLED!)
Can you post some pictures?
For the last day or so the touchscreen on my Tilt 2 will not respond. I thought Sense was hanging due to text messages so I deleted all of them this morning. That didn't help and neither did multiple reboots so I finally did a hard reset. Now I am really hosed since I can't get through the initial setup. Sounds like the digitizer may have bit it?
I am not at home to flash an official ROM right now but I will try that tomorrow. Other than that does anyone have any other ideas? I am paying for the warranty and insurance so I think I can get it swapped if I have to. Are they still sending out Rhodiums or do they have another device to send in its place now?
Okay, I just flashed the latest official ROM downloaded from HTC. Screen still isn't working. :-( Guess it's time to contact Asurion.
my tilt2 is also doing this, it stopped working about a week or two ago, then started working a few hours later. lately it will work sporadically and most the time not how it is supposed to. i have simplicity. i also have the insurance and i think mine is still under warranty, will i need to put the original sense back on it b4 i send it back in? also, on another note, sometimes when i plug it in to charge it the orange light doesn't come on indicating it is charging, i have to hold the power button for a few seconds. it started around the same time, are these issues related.
Possible fix
Ok, so I have learned that these screens are pretty sensitive, especially if you put them in your pocket. You can sometimes revive this by sliding your fingernail into the seam along the outer edges of the screen and running it along the seam as if you were trying to peel the front (digitizer) off of the LCD. It somehow releases the stuck screen or something. Mine has been doing this off and on for a while and I've been able to revive it several times with this method, though it's getting too frequent now and I'm thinking of trying to replace the digitizer all together. I'm afraid to make that leap though.

The reason this "fixes" it is there some dust or dirt between the screen & panel. If enough gets in there, the digitizer gets confused and ignores any presses.
If you completely disassemble the screen and thoroughly clean it, I bet it'll be fine - no need to replace anything. However, this is a very tedious and delicate process, so be extremely careful.
Hi, I need help finding a digitizer for DHD.
Last week my phone fell down and the digitizer had broken. I know it didnt affected the screen because it still works fine, but its hard to touch the screen and to see in places with more light because the digitizer its all cracked.
If someone knows where to get a original digitizer for a fair price tell me please.
If possible I want to get it from somewhere in Europe because I live in Portugal and I dont want to pay all those taxes.
I have noticed now that I have another problems, maybe its just malfunction or the pieces are just out of place, but my Volume buttons and Wi-fi, GPS and Bluetooth only work when they want.
Im very upset because i had never left my phone falling on the ground and now I get all these problems for the first fall.
Its was not a big fall at all, it was less than 50 cm and it fell with the screen on the ground.
Thanks! :good:
Ill start from the begining, I bought my phone about a month ago brand new from T-Mobile. The next day as I was getting into my car the phone slid out of my pocket and into the hole in the seat in between it and the center console, when I retrieved it there was a fine crack going across the screen. The LCD was not cracked and the phone functioned perfectly.
The next day after this while the phone was in my pocket the screen cracked again. Again the LCD was working fine. About a week later I sent the phone in for repairs (just a random guy nothing official as T-Mobile, Samsung and Asurion said I was SOL).
After about a week turn around I received the phone back, working perfectly and the screen fixed. About a day or two later the screen started freaking out (picking things I didnt touch and flying through the home screens on its own). Then all of a sudden the lower portion of the screen (just a little bit bigger than the lower app row) just stopped responding to touch all together.
I just now removed the screen myself thinking that be botched putting the screen back on. The LCD is in perfect condition. No burn marks, cracks, discolored pixels, anything. I then removed the case checking all the connection on the motherboard and everything seems secure.
I dont know what else to do maybe someone here can give me some suggestions or ideas. If all else fails I will file a claim and get a new one through asurion. Im just trying all my options before I burn more $$$ on this phone.
Thank you ahead of time for any help.

Sounds like a defective digitizer. Have you talked to the guy who did the replacement?

Ive tried but hes not responding to my text/calls
Call once more leave your name number and issue. If you dont hear back within 3-4 business days, call from a different number and plan constructively how to broach the issue. call recording might be an idea.

It was a paypal transaction, I just went ahead a filed a refund notice to his email.
Curious, why would Asurion say you are sol, isnt that what they are for? Isnt it accident insurance?
My wife got a new phone 3 weeks ago (Samsung S5) and in the process was given a "free" Samsung Tab3. Last week the tablet fell of a table and the screen cracked so I decided to play Mr.Wizard and replace the screen. Got the replacement screen, saw the video online and all went pretty smooth. Turn the tablet on and all is still well. Then am trying to set up her e-mail and notice that the 1 on the keyboard does not work. I downloaded an app called Simple Touch Screen Tester and come to find out that the part of the screen where the 1 would be (in portrait mode) is not responding to any touches. If I press down hard on the screen some areas do respond but not all.
Is it possible I got a defective screen? Would spending another $ 20 be worth it?
Or should I return the tablet to Sprint (I assume it is still under the 30 day warranty) and not mention the fact the screen cracked and I replaced it? Can Sprint tell I replaced the screen?
Thanks for any help.

Since you already replaced the dig, you know what's involved. If you're good at what you do, then Sprint can't tell. I've had a Samsung tab with a dead band within which no touch would register. Sent it to Samsung and all they did was update the firmware. But it can be hardware-related. If you bought a replacement lined with tape, it's possible the back of the digitizer didn't stick evenly to the frame 'cause you did not clean all the glue residue before. That certainly can cause problems. Then you may want to check the connection to the motherboard. It should click when you snap it on correctly. The way Samsung digitizer are built, it doesn't feel like yours is defective. I've had one that literally was smashed to pieces yet persisted.
