Has anyone heard of a release date to when this phone will be coming to Sprint? All of these other websites give no useful information on the release date. Only specifications and where they got the source.

Does anyone know the latest or expected date for the generic HTC version of the WM6 rom?
cheers
I've called HTC Europe yesterday. They answer me the rom could be available at end of Juni or July.
(sorry for my english)
thanks for the reply, but bad news now July is getting mentioned :-(
cheers
Gus
ok, sorry. Where do you find this news ? (for my information)
umm, you gave me it??
I called them too... They confirmed that they 'hoped' that it would come out still in June... But no more specific information other then in the already existing press release in regard to WM6 in general on their website.
Frustrating, that the branded devices 'go first', and that it's merely a political issue not to release the upgrade yet...
If at least a 'decent' expectation would be set, one could choose between the unlocking and the WM6 version of T-Mobile...

Same thing, I called UK hotline and they mentioned somewhere between the last week of june and the first one of july.
It's very frustrating, I've got six I'd like to update and have already been down the unsuccessful road of using the T-Mobile ROM.
I wish HTC would get their skates on with this for people who have been brand loyal to HTC instead of buying a carrier specific model (Dash, etc).
... no details about what it will be based on (WM6.1 or WM6.5), but I asked HTC about vodafone UK's recent v1.97 release and why HTC themselves hadn't released this version to their customers, and this is the response I got:
"The ROM release that Vodafone have published is for their own product, and is based on the same release (1.93). We do expect a new ROM from our developers in the early part of next year however, and this will be released from our support pages for HTC branded devices."
The release will probably the be v2.0 we're all currently using thanks to Eddg for uncovering that one! HTC!
Lol, nothing to get excited over (most cooks are implementing 2.00), but positive news nonetheless.
You're right!
.... (most cooks are implementing 2.00)
That's exactly what I said at the bottom of my post... I've been using v2.0 myself for the last two weeks, in various ROM versions. But you never know... it may be newer than that (although I doubt it very much)!
I'd only be happy if any or both of the following two things happened:
1) WM6.5 was released in the new ROM image .
2) New graphic drivers were released for the Diamond for us to finally play long-length movies and 3D games at high quality with smooooothness.

Yea I wish too, Graphic Drivers? Remember how long it took for HTC to release proper graphic drivers to the TYTNII... and they don't even want to recognize the drivers are crap. Sucks that one of their best selling devices has to be treated that way
Yay!
Obviously, the 'early part of next year' could be January or April..
But seeing that the current 2.00 beta doesnt have any major (nor minor) issues, hopefully it's the former
would anyone recommend a 2.0 rom for a cdma diamond? thanks
In less than 24 hours, MS will release Official version WM6.5.what do you expect the latest official version?Which series,230XX、218XX or 234XX,will be the luck dog?
And Diamond-1 doesnt have official version WM6.5 ROM.We will ask some guys to cook "delicious" rom^_^
WM 6.5 RTMed back in May... between then and now device manufacturers like HTC have been adding their software and customisations and getting it to work on their devices. What's happening tomorrow is the launch of the new devices and of Marketplace, not the release of the new version. There are already far newer builds of 6.5 here on XDA than the one you will get if you buy a new phone tomorrow.
Dunno about build no but Hopefully, Tellme will be present!
Here I am sitting and waiting in anticipation for my Desire to arrive, a question poped in to my mind.
Any idea when the next Android OS upgrade is due?
Also I know the phone is only just been released, but how often does HTC release updated for the ROM?
Android 2.1 has just been released in January along with the N1 .. no idea as when they plan to upgrade on that.
As for HTC updates, I've noticed they usually release ROM updates for their phones addressing problems and sometimes little improvements. And that might not be long from now.
I wouldn't count on the Desire getting a major OS upgrade anytime soon or ever though! Especially with the more powerful CPU/Graphics hardware coming out this year that might be required, plus their history with upgrades in previous phones.
Thank God we have xda brilliant developers.
Is it going to be like honeycomb ? Or google releasing it soon after the device released .
from the sound of it, we'll probably see the source code around the same time it gets released for the nexus S. This should happen by the middle of december.
pb1866: where did you get that information?
it has been confirmed, ICS will be opensourced very shortly after the Prime is released
http://thisismynext.com/2011/10/19/ice-cream-sandwich-update-roadmap-andy-rubin/ this is where I read it from. I guess saying by mid-december makes it sound alot more far off then it probably is. It was an assumption on my part that the next phone to get it would be a nexus s. All this being said, we should be seeing the release of ICS's source code sometime in the nov/dec timeframe.
