G2 won't get signal after Permaroot / Super CID / Subsidy unlocked - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone !
I´m an Argentinian who worked in the US for a couple of months as a J1 student and bought a G2, thinking I would be able to root it and unlock it to use it at home no problemo ( it's supposed to be an unlockable quadband phone afterall ). Now after doing all the shannanigans to get my phone ready to work with a local sim card, I get no signal whatsoever. I followed this guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855764
And confirmed I had done everything correctly by doing the following on adb :
# stop ril-daemon
# cat /dev/smd0 &
# echo -e 'ATE1\r' > /dev/smd0
0
#
# echo -e 'ATV1\r' > /dev/smd0
OK
# echo -e '[email protected]?\r' > /dev/smd0
@CID: 11111111
OK
echo -e '[email protected]?40\r' > /dev/smd0
# [email protected]?40
@SIMLOCK= 00
OK
#echo -e '[email protected]?AA\r' > /dev/smd0
[email protected]?AA
@secu_flag: 0
OK
I am running Cyanogenmod 6.1 and the phone does recognize my Simcard's carrier ( Claro AR ). Could you please tell me what I'm doing wrong ? Thank you !

Does the phone read you are on any network? If not than it wouldn't seem as if you did it correctly.
Good luck

Yes. Like I said, the phone recognizes my Simcard ( ClaroAR ) but it won't give signal. Thank you !

1. Check if your APN is set up in Settings > WirelessAnd Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Networks. If there is no APN set up you should find the settings online.
2. Check your Radio version. If you are using the stock radio and you haven't updated yet you should most definitely do that.

Hey thanks for the tip ! Stupid me I was using a SIMcard without service ! Everything is working perfectly now. Thank you everyone! You may close the thread if you so will.

I think that the frequencies that are in use by the carrier in your country are not supported by the G2.
For reference, the G2 supports:
- GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
- HSDPA 900 / 2100

Well according to several sites I've visited ( like this one ), Argentina uses 850 and 1900, so the G2 should work no problem. I have no idea why but some SIM cards ( of the same carrier I mentioned before, that is, Claro AR ) seem to work perfectly fine while others make my phone crash, not recognize the carrier and give no signal. In the latter SIM card, I get the following generic error at around every 5 seconds:
Sorry!
The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Any ideas ?
UPDATE: Could it be that the G2 has problems recognizing old SIM cards? The ones that fail are like 5 year old SIM cards (or older) and seem to have 32k of memory (or less), while the one that works has 64k. Has anybody else ever experienced this sort of problem ?
Thank you !

Did you check the APNs to make sure the internet.windmobile.ca APN is there already?
(If you haven't go to: System Settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > check for Wind CA)
If you don't have Wind CA, press Menu > New APN > and in Name type Wind CA, APN: internet.windmobile.ca, MCC: 302, MNC: 490, APN type: default, supl, APN protocol: IPv4 .
Hope this works!
HOLY! Thank you so much Man you just saved me thanks a lot!!!1

[Q] Huawei Ascend P6 Dual Sim issues

Hello,
*
I just bought a Huawei P6 C-00 Dual Sim from China ( not possible to add a SD card but the internal memory is 16 GB).
*
After some tests , I found some issues :
*
1 / As dual sim , there are two slots :
*
- The first for a GSM SIM card : Incoming call \ outgoing OK , but can not connect to internet via GSM network ( problem described in point 2 )
- The second port is for a CDMA SIM card : my sim card does not work and no network is detected ( ? ) . After some web research, I understand that this port is designed to support only a SIM card from China Telecom ( so the port is blocked on China Telecom) .
that this port operates with GSM 2G Network while the CDMA port for 3G Network !
*
==> Question: How can I unlock this CDMA slot in order to connect my sim card and use the 3G network? Is there a way , a software, or a code for the release\ Unlock of this port?
*
2 / Let's return back to the first GSM port that seems to work fine until I start doing the manual configuration of the mobile internet via a new APN (us this mobile is new, it is not possible to configure automatically with my provider).
In fact the boxes corresponding to MCC and MNC are locked ! I can not edit this to put the country code MCC and the operator code MNC . these parameters are locked with MCC = 460 ( China) and MNC = 03 (China Telecom) !
*
==> Question: How do I unlock these boxes to put good values MCC and MNC and able to connect to internet via GSM ? Knowing that the wifi works great !
*
3 / Question: If I can root my phone , is it possible to overcome the above two problems? have the CDMA Unlocked and Port boxes MCC and MNC ?
*
Thank you for your help
CDMA and WCDMA phones use a different radio modules, a mean the different hardware. You can't just unlock it to use WCDMA network.

Yes, this is GSM/CDMA phone and it can work only with GSM and CDMA networks.
Is it too late?
First of all, I am not an android mobile technician.
I am also learning how to tweak android phones by studying from this and that forums.
In our country, Myanmar, we use mostly Huawei handsets and especially CDMA ones.
Secondly, I hope you haven't thrown away that P6 C00.
I think it might be possible to overcome some of the obstacles you are currently facing:
Q3:Unlocking China Telecom lock and MCC and MNC editing
Q1 & Q2 shall be answered once we can solve Q3.
Thirdly but most importantly, you are going to be needed to have to unlock the bootloader and root access both of which are not really difficult.
There are a lot of Myanmar/other forums giving tutorials on this and I think P6 C00 is likely to be rootable and its bootloader unlockable.
Going back to Q3nce you got root access, you just need Buildprop editor installed from Playstore.
Then run it. Create a backup first. Then Edit and scroll down until you see ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=46003 and change it to your mobile operators MCC and MNC. Save and Reboot. And go back into your APN settings. You will see that the MCC and MNC were changed and also editable.
I was frustrated for this for like a month and I just find out accidentally.
Of course, you should have a backup of your firmware, recovery and various other tools ready.
I think I should warn you that following my advice might brick your phone and if you do follow, it's at your own risk. Don't blame me.
Good luck Buddy.
If my advice were wrong somehow, I hope some other admin or technician would please kindly correct me. But I just got it working that way.

Australian Owners of Optimus G Pro HELP

Thought i'd start this thread so australian owners of this phone can help each other out.
I bought this phone & had it shipped to AUS at a cost of about $290 AUD. The phone is to replace my Galaxy note 2 that got smashed.
At half the price i originally paid for the GN2 it seemed like a good deal!.
However when i got it i realised it is actually a refurb & its is also pre-rooted
However I can't get it to detect any sim that has been installed, tried TELSTRA 3g & 4g sims - Also tried Optus sim, no detecting of sim.

Hi. As I see, your G PRO is Korean. Such as F240 is for Korean versions. However, it may have been converted to Korean for the KitKat ROM. You mean SIM is not being detected, that it says SERVICE DISABLED? If so, Try this:
1. Flash KDZ of Mexico from here: http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FW826486573210987654321/E980H10A_00.kdz
2. Then flash your desired KDZ.
This worked for me so, feel free to try it!

I think the phone is definitely F240, well that's what the stickers says on the inside & what is reported by the IMEI checking link.
So maybe not a good idea putting E980 firmware??
EDIT: constant message on screen saying "check the USIM card is installed. cell phone function is limited"

Yes, i tried two different sims. same message.... the phone doesn't seem to recognize any australian sim
These are the freq available on different Australian mobile networks
2G
2G, other wise known as GSM, is standard on almost all phones (except CDMA phones in the USA). Most new phones come with quad band GSM support. A quad band GSM phone supports 850, 900, 1800, and 1900MHz.
2G is old technology and provides a fall back position when 3G coverage is unavailable.
Australian 2G bands:
900Mhz (Telstra, Optus & Vodafone)
1800Mhz (Telstra, Optus & Vodafone)
3G
There are several 3G networks operating in Australia. 3G frequencies are usually specified as UMTS/HSDPA or WCDMA frequencies on the mobile phone specifications.
Australian 3G bands:
850MHz (Telstra, Vodafone) – Exclusive 3G band
900MHz (Optus, Vodafone) – available in most metro areas on Optus, with both Optus and Vodafone re-farming the 2G 900 spectrum in regional and rural areas
2100MHz (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone) – Exclusive 3G band
4G
Australia is currently using these LTE bands (LTE bandmask in brackets):
2100Mhz (B1) FDD (0000000000000001) – Telstra (3G spectrum)
1800Mhz (B3) FDD (0000000000000004) – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone
900Mhz (B8) FDD (0000000000000080) – Telstra, Vodafone?, Optus (utilises spectrum previously used by 2G)
2300Mhz (B40) TDD (0000008000000000) – Optus (Vivid wireless spectrum)
To follow late 2014:
2600Mhz (B7) FDD (0000000000000040) – Telstra, Optus, TPG?
700Mhz (B28) FDD (0000000008000000) – Telstra, Optus
This is what the F240 Optimus G Pro supports.
GSM-1800; GSM-1900; GSM-900; UMTS(3G)-2100; UMTS(3G)-1900; LTE(4G)-2100; LTE(4G)-850
CHECK YOUR PHONE HERE: http://checkphone.australianphone.com.au/
So looks likes optus is the best bet for anyone wanting a F240
However I cant get any sim to detect so it must be a hardware faults, any good way to test hardware?
so no one in aus seems to use this phone.... can someone tell me why?

I have the same problem. I bought F240L version for US$127 ( Extremely Cheap). The phone initially worked with my Optus Sim. However, it developed a Wifi problem (wouldn't connect on second day of ownership) so I flashed F240 Kitkat stock rom (And F240 Lollipop stock ROM) using LG flash tool2014 to see if this fixed wifi (It Didn't) and stopped phone recognising the SIM. I can't find a KDZ version of F240-EUR. So my phone now has neither wifi or network. I think the phone is fast and looks great but I think Australian's should avoid it as the network problem seems common if phone is updated. My son also has one which works ok on Stock Jellybean. I tried to restore a CWM backup from his phone on my phone but CWM reported a MD5 error and aborted. Anyway I have probably got my US$127 worth of fiddle value, but hate to see such a lovely phone reduced to toy status only.
Additionally: I have managed to restore F240-EUR Stock rom but the Network and Wifi still don't work. The Network did work originally on this Rom. I don't know why it now doesn't. AVOID THESE PHONES IN AUSTRALIA.

which is advanced way for modifing on mobiles settings, but once I enteren on:
LTE-ONLY> Modem Setting > LTE Band Selection
and by fault I chose on a band(don't know which one) then the 4G is refusing to connect at all. <<<-------problem starts from here
I tried to repair it by choosing these bands: (band3=1800Mhz & band40=2300Mhz) sence it's our bands here in Saudi Arabia for STC company, but it didn't work.
In my city the only ban activated is 40=2300Mhz.
Do you have any solutions? let formatting be the last solution.

According to HTC India, M9+ Only supports FDD: Bands 1,3,5,7,8,28. Whereas O2 LTE network in UK is using FDD band 20(800Mhz).
Hope this answered your queries.

I've checked some stuff, and I think that the radio firmware is inside the /system image and is not a separate partition.
Also I think they might use the same firmware as they are the same version in different full fimware zips system img part and radiversion.ini contains same version.
but the /system/build.prop differences might help with your issue.

You will need to unlock the device and root it to do this in a root file manager and edit it somehow, or copy the build prop to the /sdcard/ copy it to PC, edit, copy back then:
copying file to sdcard on a rooted device from PC command line, :
Code:
adb shell
su
cp /system/build.prop /sdcard/build.prop
then reconnect the device and copy the build.prop to PC through mtp. There Edit file on PC then copying back to sdcard then from command line;
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
cp /sdcard/build.prop /system/build.prop
chmod 644 /system/build.prop
reboot and see if it works. report back if you try this.
It's absolutely not sure that it helps, so don't void your warranty if you were not planning on unlock and root
