my work just changed over to Exchange 2010 and now my exchange activesync wont accept the new address. it keeps telling me the user name or password is incorrect even though I know they are right. I really need help with this, with out it work life is almost impossible. I'm running senseless rEVOlution 2.0 I know that my info are correct because I tried the app "exchange for android 2.x" and it worked, but it is only a trial to an expensive app.
Is there no one who can help with this?
I use Enhanced Email by Quantam Solutions, I think I paid like $4 or $5. Way cheaper than TouchDown.
You could try having the IT Dept remove the mobile device association on your account, then trying again to enter the information.

Was the switch to Outlook 2010 or Exchange 2010? Upgrading Outlook shouldn't have effected anything. We upgraded our systems to MS Office 2010 without issue, and run Exchange 2007.

Thanks for the tip on this app it works good. Why is it the HTC mail app wont accept an exchange 2010 account? Does any one know if there is any updates for this?

The native email app always gave me issues, and I know that there are issues with it. I've read that there are sync issues with it at times, so I just switched. The developer is great for Enhanced Email, no issues with it.

I was having an issue with my xoom and exchange 2010. worked fine on 2007. Found out that my mailbox on the server was slowly corupting. We made me a new mailbox and copied all my old stuff into it. Works great now. Sounds like alot of work but my email works now...
how does one do this?

Whoever is in charge of your exchange server needs to export your mailbox. delete it and make a new one. then import everything back in. My boss helped me with mine so I dont know every step by heart yet.

Which in your opinion is the best Exchange sync app on Android - Touchdown, HTC Mail or K9? HTC Mail is Ok but appears limited, Touchdown seems really good, push and GAL work really well, but is it worth $20??? Haven't used K9 so can't comment.

I'm using HTC mail and I would say that there are a few issues with it. to begin with, it doesn't seem to pick up entries you type directly into your own exchange outlook. in addition to this I don't really like the way it can't remain synchronized when its out of signal. eg when I'm on the underground on my way to work in the morning and I type an email. I can't just hit send knowing that it will 'push' once I'm in signal again. it forces me to save as a draft. this is actually a pain in the neck.

Try touchdown (it will be called exchange for Android 2.0/2.1) - works a lot better than stock - you just gotta see if it is worth $20 to you...

I'm sorry but your reply just reads as a sarcastic comment and that's how I saw it.
I have a number of email accounts that I have to manage and a number of identities on some of the accounts.
I use:
Exchange
Hotmail
Yahoo
Gmail
IMAP
There are several Gmail and IMAP accounts, multiple identities on the IMAP and Yahoo accounts, and multiple domains on the IMAP accounts.
These cover work and personal accounts.
One problem is that I need to use different identities when replying to certain emails, for example [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc and when an email is sent from [email protected] it needs to come from [email protected] and not "From: [email protected] Sent on Behalf of [email protected]".
Similarly if I send an email from [email protected]omeplace.com it has to come from [email protected] and not "From: [email protected] on Behalf of [email protected]".
I can do this with IMAP but I don't know how to do it with any of the ActiveSync accounts listed. I can change the From address on Exchange but I would have to be able to switch it on the server each time I wanted to send from a different address and that means sitting at a desktop making config changes, which defeats the purpose of mobile email.
There is one other issue In WP7 it is possible to have a number of accounts using ActiveSync. I could setup multiple Exchange, Gmail or Hotmail accounts with my most used domains and identities however this would cause a lot more drain on the battery than having a single IMAP account that allows me to have multiple identities and domains for sending email.
On Windows Mobile, to reduce the amount of polling I have tried services like Momail and Seven to try and get the kind of low overhead service that I get on my Blackberry but in the end I always end up disabling Momail and removing the Seven package
It may be possible to get rid of the Yahoo account over time (they have IMAP but without the IDLE) but the others would have to remain for various reasons and getting rid of Yahoo would mean moving several identities onto the main IMAP server, which wouldn't be a problem as long as there was a way to use those identities.
I'd love to be able to have it all going to one ActiveSync account but I don't think that's possible at the moment.
So, back to my original question.

IMAP polls way more than push protocols, even with IDLE and it results in factorably more battery usage.
Use a packet analyzer and compare IMAP to activesync. Get back to me with your results. Theres a reason google implemented activesync and microsoft used deltasync over imap and then implemented activesync for windows live...

I have a question I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere. We are upgrading from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 at my work, while testing Exchange 2010 I found out that activesync (push) email works great on iPhones and iPads, but not on my Droid Incredible . I can create the account just fine and manually refresh to see my mail, but if I have my exchange activesync email set to "as items arrive" and send myself a test email, I don't get it until I open up the email app and it refreshes.
I'm using the default htc email app, I have tried deleting and recreating my account several times. If I have the setting set to any thing else, like sync every 5 minutes it works just fine, but for some reason if it's set to as items arrive I won't get the email until I manually look at the email app. I can't deploy exchange 2010 with this going on as we have many other android users in the company.
Please help!
The Android native email application needs improvement no doubt. I use TouchDown as we have Exchange 2007 and are enforcing security policies. Those don't work too well with the native application.
Push works great, but it's a one time fee of $20, but in my opinion worth it.

Thanks RMarkwald! I downloaded and tried out TouchDown and it works great for Exchange 2010. At least I have a solution if users start complaining about push no longer working after we upgrade.
Hopefully htc will get an update out for this at some point because a simple thing like activesync should work on the stock email app.
Hey no problem! I think that the issue is more of an Android issue, not really HTC, cause it happens across the board. I've had nothing but issues before I purchased TD, and that was before we enabled PIN/security features. $20 is a lot, but my company purchased it for me, and I can use it on my Xoom without having to pay another $20, so IMO it's worth it.
Their support is great too, from the times I've contacted them with questions. I really like you can sync Tasks and manage your Out of Office too.
Just saw a disturbing post and I wanted to get some confirmation from those who own the phone.
I saw in a comment on a review of this phone that it doesn't support Ms exchange for email or calendar. I absolutely news push email and calendar for my business. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?

I am using MS exchange on my SGSII with no issues. Not sure where you read that, but it is totally false. Push email, calendar and contacts all work with exchange.

No issues on my side. This phone activates exchange the same way my last 4 android phones have. No issues at all as far as the phone side goes. Also if you have root you can replace the TW email.apk with the stock Gingerbread one. I did this just because I like the aosp email better.

The builtin mail app works fine with my exchange server. I use Touchdown because I like the interface better though...
One thing that you might not be aware of if you're using Exchange 2010 for your mail server is that there is a limit to the number of devices you can connect to an account. You can manage connected devices in OWA so login there and delete any old devices...
One other thing that my exchange server does when I connect the phone to it is to push security settings to my phone. A popup appears on the phone that I have to accept in order to sync mail. If I don't, I don't get anything...
Finally, you could try touchdown and if it works but the built in mail app doesn't then I'd recommend the purchase. It's still better than the improved built in version IMHO
Robin. Another quick question. Can you send and accept calendar invites for exchange from the native calendar apply? That's another big one for me. I am aware of touchdown and even own the license but I am a minimalist and if I don't have to install an app that's services are already present I wont. Thank you in advance.

The email app supports Exchange ActiveSync. Exchange administrators can also do things like remote wipe of android phones.

Most versions of android don't support HTML email on exchange 2003. Touchdown and iOS do so it is possible. Lets hope ICS supports HTML exchange email on that server.
I use Enhanced Email. It lets me bypass my works security requirements. No PIN and no remote wipe.

Does this definitely work on Glaxy Nexus? I thought it was built for older Android versions?
It doesn't work yet on ICS, but the developer has it working already, he just hasn't released the update yet. I downloaded the trial version, but it force closes.

Calendar does sync in tablet fwiw
The standard email client on the Galaxy Nexus works just fine with exchange, including calendar sync and html mail.

Clarification: Enhanced Email does not bypass all security, just the pin lock requirement.
My corporate IT is not granted Admin Remote Wipe and other lock and restrictions overrides when using EE
Am I just not seeing it? Can you extend the time before your screen locks? Not the display timeout. I have to input my pin every single time I unlock my phone.

ICS is the first version of Android to be fully Exchange ActiveSync compliant. All this means it is supports every security and remote management features of Exchange 2010. (EAS 14.1)
Does anyone get notification for native exchange email on ICS?
I've setup folders under my Inbox, and I don't get any notification when email arrives. I've setup individual sync option on multiple folders.
This was working fine on My N1 running CM7 which is Gingerbread

Camera disabled? False policy info?
Our Exchange Admin can't figure this one out.. He does NOT have any policy to disable camera's yet at initial account creation to our ActiveSync server it tries to push a security profile to turn off camera's and set a bunch of other stuff that our Admin swears is not being set. He even gave me remote control of our Exchange server to verify I was on a default policy and the default policy had none of these restrictions.
REALLY odd - as Touchdown is just seeing the policy he has set and not trying to set other items. Having to use Touchdown now - though now the Touchdown HD beta supports ICS now. Finding their push to be less battery intensive than the built in app when I used it for 2 days (with my camera disabled to actually get to test it)

Go to settings security, automatically lock and change to whatever max is allowed by the exchange security settings...

Is it possible to install active sync on my work notebook (WinXP) and sync it with my GNex via cable? Similar to what I was used with my Window phone 2 years ago.
I've been using touchdown for some while and it synced via our outlook web access, which has been disabled now. So I am trying to figure out a way to sync calender and tasks again. I don't care about Emails.
we are not allowed to install google sync (or w/e it is called). they even took our admin rights on our working notebooks. MS Active Sync, however, is a approved software which could be installed by our IT.
Any ideas/thoughts? thx
