I dropped my incredible for the first time about a week ago and now when I'm on a call the light doesn't turn off.... so I was wondering does me dropping it one time from about two feet, break the sensor? Because if so I want to return it.
I thought I should mention I do switch ROMS alot so could it be a software glidge?

I have noticed my diodes are illuminating randomly when im move the phone around in a low light area. Is it functioning as it is or did I bricked my phone ? Ive downloaded the 'LED me know' app the other day and uninstalled it. Just wanna make sure.

I think there is an automatic backlight setting that is on and when the surrounding lights get dim, the android magic happens. It sounds normal to me. You are certainly not bricked.
Cool, so its normal if my diode turns off when im walking outside under thee sun?

Yes, it's normal. I'm not sure about the G2, but on the DZ the stock ROM seems to be very badly programmed on this, and the backlight can turn off and on almost at random (the light sensor not handling it properly). I think this is something you can alter and setup how you want in Cyanogen's custom ROM.
Glad to know its working normally. Was abit worried, just got this baby 2 weeks back after getting my nexus one destroyed under a car tyre 3 months back

I just traded my fascinate with jdkzombie for his Droid Incredible 2, it was a warranty replacement (came to me with the screen protector and all that jazz). It worked flawlessly for a few hours, then the phone was dropped on my carpeted floor (about 4 feet drop), and the troubles began...
Issues with my phone:
1. Proximity sensor is busted... If the screen turns off via the proximity sensor, it will not turn back on. The Soft Keys remain lit and the phone is functional, but it just freezes and cannot be turned on/off, it needs a battery pull.
2. Phone will occasionally freeze and become completely unresponsive.
3. Occasionally when booting, the phone will freeze on the HTC screen and there will be a red light coming from the left side near the proximity sensor.
It is running the newest OTA update from VZW, soo...
any ideas? It's been factory reset several times, but the
Sounds like a dud may be a factory defect

Bro, I purposely roll my phone down the stairs for fun like twice a day (I'm 17, let me have fun while I'm still a kid), and that's about a 10 feet roll down, and nothings ever happened. Yours might be a lemon, and lemons are sour.

ugh... Idk what I need to. FML...
new problem... **** this shizzz. what do I need to do?
Call and try and get a CLNR haha
I wasn't the original purchaser, but the guy I did buy it from is the man and he is helping me as much as possible. It's some serious BS that the phone was sent to him (then to me) ****ed up and they still refuse to help... It was literally a new phone, had all the labels and everything still on it, but it still ****ed up.
Mine got really weird after a drop. Different symptoms from yours, but still badly unstable. The micro sim beneath the battery had moved just slightly. I reseated it, and it's been fine since.
Don't know if that will help you, but it's worth trying.

Am i missing a setting somewhere. My screen will not wake up while on a call and I move my phone away from my ear (~75% of the time), other times it will not turn the screen off when I put it to my ear.. I have the problem on Paranoid, Jellybomb and Venom Ice. I assume it is a problem with my hardware since it happens on several ROMS.
*#0*# on the dialer will enter test mode.
Press sensor and cover the proximoty sensor with your hand.
Remove cases/screen protectors if present and test it out.
When all else fails odin back to stock and test again.

thanks after playing around it appears my proximity sensor is shot.
Same thing happened to me after having my note for a touch under three months. I had to take it into Sprint, and they ordered me another phone. Unfortunately, I had to pay $35 because I didn't have the insurance. I believe they just raised the charge to $50. You can also go the Samsung warranty route, but you will be out of a phone for a couple weeks ( it's free though besides shipping).

Is the auto screen off checked in the call settings?

Yeah it is, but there is no doubt that it is a hardware problem at this point after testing as recommended above. The sensor basically gets stuck. The only way to get it to work after that is to get it in direct sunlight or shine a flavor right on it. Have a replacement on the way.
My girlfriend is having an issue with what I think is the ambient light sensor. When she makes a call the phone immediately goes dark on the screen. When she wants to end the call, she has to mess around getting the screen back on to end the call.
The phone is completely stock. This problem may have only began after completing some over the air updates but we only the phone a couple of days before then.
Do you think this is a software problem? I will have no issue rooting the device to load different ROMs, but if I brick it I think I will lose my man parts.
Bump.
Has anyone else experienced this?
It is called proximity sensor. Check an app called proximity sensor finder and test it.
The sensor is located about 1cm left from the htc logo.

Does she use a case?
Happened to me when I used a case that interfered with the sensor. The sensor is smart enough to cope with dirty display and different ambient light (or IR) levels, but a case messed it up.
You could try this one
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.incredicontrol.ProxSensorCalibrator
It require ROOT. And one more thing even that app is for HTC Rezound, people with other HTC phone still confirmed that it working with their phone.

Ok so I droped my note 2 shattered the screen but the phone still operated normal. So I paid 100 to get repaired at local phone store. It looks good but has flaws. When I make a phone call the screen stay black till the other person hang. And if it go to voicemail well I have to pop the battery out and restart it. Now I asked the guy who repaired it if he can see why it does that he told me my speaker is the problem. But how can that be if I play music all the time and can talk on it. And to add to it I kinda know for sure its the sensor because if its sunny I can hold my phone directly in the sun and it'll come back on or I can put it close to a light bulb lol but I know the sensor still work I assume its adhesive blocking it r something any feedback for me? Can it be my speaker giving my sensor was working before he replaced the screen

You can check if your proximity sensor is working. You shoyld be able to see if is blocked by mounting tape. I believe proximity sensor uses small window next to speaker, closer to camera.

I had the same problem with my note 2. I chatted online with support and after factory reset, they said they would replace it. Sent it back and got a new one.
