[Q] PIN Screen Timeout - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Running EB13->CWM3 One-Click ext4->ACS 0.3a
My work exchange server sets up a device administrator that requires a PIN.
Where is the setting for the PIN timeout?
It seems that if the screen goes black, I have to re-enter my PIN... Which is annoying.
On other androids running 2.2 you can set the PIN timeout to like... 20 minutes... So you can turn your phone on and off for 20 minutes after entering the PIN without being required to enter it again.
Is it even possible on the epic? It seems like this would be a standard Android feature...

If I remember right I don't think there is a way to change the timeout on the Epic.

That's kinda sucks that every other device out supports that except the epic...

Another issue I'm having with syndicate frozen 1.0.1 is that playing audio and video files stops working after a day or so. I can't even play voicemail until I reboot...
Is it just a bad rom flash? Should I switch to Bonsai?
Thanks

Define "a while". I had it open for two or three days straight before I closed it myself. It remained logged in the entire time and it used next to zero wake locks according to betterbatterystats.
Are you using a custom rom?
Check in Skype your settings. Menu-> settings-> go offline
Set to Never

It seems every time my screen goes off it disconnects, I'm using apex from with Franco's kernel. Go offline is set to never and is set to auto sign in. Every time I open skype it reconnects

Maybe it's not fully compatible with that kernel. Is there a way to find out if other Franco Kernel users are having the same problem? It could be one of those battery saving features that kills Skype when the screen is off.

Stopping screen timeout when under power

Sprint SPH-L710
rooted and running Blazer 1.6 Rom
I have not been able to set up this phone to stay alive when under power. It makes it nearly useless as a GPS. I think this is an ICS issue more than the phone but nevertheless, I would still like the option.
Now I do have several apps that can keep the phone lit but that is another matter. Any ideas?
You can try this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.k2.no.screen.off

After the Jellybean update my phones screen seems to not turn off.

After I updated my phone to jelly bean via the root 66 inject method my screen seems to not time out.
I have my display timeout set to 15 seconds and I have smart stay turned on.
My question is did the update do this to my phone or is it possible that something on my phone is keeping my phone awake.
If that's the case how can I solve this problem?

Have you tried with smart stay off?
Make nandroid backup first. Then in app manager try wiping data for settings/settings storage.
If thst doesn't help, then factory reset using cwm or twrp. (Stock recovery will also wipe your internal sd)
It may be that there's some data from before you updated that's causing your problem.

I appreciate the help but It still seems to ignore my timeout settings... guess I'm just gonna have to deal with it while I try and trouble shoot certain apps.
Again thank you for you suggestions

Download extended controls and add toggles Screen always on and stay awake. make sure that both of these are disabled. its a weird bug. I had this problem when I was chraging my phone and the screen would never turn off.
Try fixing permissions in recovery. If that doesn't help, make buckup to external sd and try odin again

I was having this issue with my S3, 100% stock. I tried restarting the phone, power off then power on, hard reset and nothing worked. What did end up working was setting a different timeout than what was selected and going back to the home screen, then I went and changed the timeout duration to the one I wanted, went back to the home screen and then restarted my phone. My phone has been working fine and timing out like it should for the last week and a half.
Sometimes when I get a SMS my screen won't turn off. Only started to happen after JB.

[Q] Prevent phone from sleeping?

I have the Jellybean Flash player and it works great. The problem is that the phone's sleep settings are still active when playing the videos I want to watch. Is there an app that blocks the sleep timer in certain apps?

I've done some looking around in this too but I think since flash is not supported in JB, they didn't build in provisions to keep the screen awake while using flash content. Don't think there is a way around it

There is no "Stay Awake" function for the stock android browser which I am guessing you are using. However, depending if the ROM you are using has this available (most likely will) a workaround that I use is by going to:
phone settings/display and there should be an option for "Sleep"
... from there you just have to set the phone to sleep after a certain amount of minutes (30 minutes being the max). The only downside is that you have to turn off the screen of the phone manually each time.
Whoops never mind wrong thing.

If its flash TVs or movies.....making it full screen keeps phone awake. If its playing on web page phone will sleep.
Not sure if that helps.
I'm running CMX so I don't have a app specific setting. I have set it to 30 minutes. The person above me, you are wrong. Like the other guy said, I looked into it and found that the modified flash app doesn't have that sleep timer provision so it gos to sleep even in full screen. Sometimes I actually do leave the phone on for 30 minutes and the browser closes. Its really annoying when watching a show like Doctor Who on Amazon Prime. Hopefully, amazon can make an android app for Prime members.

Can't use a lock screen security?

I'm running hyper drive rls2, I'm not sure if I'm missing something or just drawing a blank, but I can't set any lock screen security. This is a fresh flash and can't quite figure out what's wrong. I have no active device administrators.
Thanks.

Your screen shot shows you have 2 lock screen capability allowed by your administrator which would indicate you are using something on your device which has restricted the access of your device.
Perhaps you are using your phone with company data via an Exchange account (Touchdown??) Perhaps.
If so, that is done on purpose and should have nothing to do with the ROM you are using.
I don't have any exchange accounts or anything. I'm gonna flash a new rom and see if it stays the same. I like this rom that's the only reason I was trying to figure it out.

Same here! I've unchecked all device administration, cleared credentials and decrypted everything! The exact same things are greyed out and I'm using hyperdrive also. It actually started happening when I upgraded to kitkat. It was fine when I was on 4.3. Any suggestions?
