Define "a while". I had it open for two or three days straight before I closed it myself. It remained logged in the entire time and it used next to zero wake locks according to betterbatterystats.
Are you using a custom rom?
Check in Skype your settings. Menu-> settings-> go offline
Set to Never

It seems every time my screen goes off it disconnects, I'm using apex from with Franco's kernel. Go offline is set to never and is set to auto sign in. Every time I open skype it reconnects

Maybe it's not fully compatible with that kernel. Is there a way to find out if other Franco Kernel users are having the same problem? It could be one of those battery saving features that kills Skype when the screen is off.

The first A100 I bought would not wake up from standby. I had to take it back and get another one. This one has worked fine.

I will give it a few more days. Wish there was a concrete answer on what causes it as almost all honeycomb tabs seem tp be plagued by it. I changed my screen timeout to never and no lockups yet....will post my results here.
I meant to ask how long did your screen have to be off before it was unresponsive?

Same thing happened on my initial one. Tried doing a bunch of things to fix it like restoring it and downloading the newest firmware from another thread and nothing worked. Exchanged it and the new one works just fine.

My wifi is set to be on during sleep.
Ok so about 8 hours so far, no sleep of death yet. Though I haven't tried leaving it idle for more than 2 hours..
I unboxed, booted, updated both updates to 3.2.1, charged to full. Then rooted. Played a bit, currently have wifi set as it was default "sleep when screen off" though I most likely will be changing that to never sleep when I'm travelling.
On a side note..I used to use whatsapp to text with my wife for free when I'm out of the country. But our one year is up and can't really justify paying twice for it for the amount we use it. Is there an alternative to whatsapp that doesn't slaughter battery life? I was going to go with kik messenger but it was causing massive drain in my testing..just running in the background. Also tried IMSY and I think its garbage.
Would love others opinions were also looking to video chat if we can since I now have a ffc. But she will be on the PC. Are skype and tango the best choices?
Wish there was an all in one app that could text/call/video call over wifi with android users as well as pc...does it exist?

Google voice allows you to text; GroveIP allows you to make calls using Google voice, Talk allows you to chat and I also believe video chat.

Hi!..I have an issue with the screen. Sometimes when I keep my phone aside my phone screen suddenly lightens up shows the pattern unlock page and automatically turns off. This happens 4-5 times in succession. First I thought its because of the antivirus app so I uninstalled it but still the problem persists. Does anyone know why this is happening? Any suggestion will be helpful.

I think we'll probably need a lot more information than that...
It could be anything. When I have mine plugged into my computer and the screensaver kicks on or when the laptop falls asleep, it does the same thing to mine because the USB power is cycling but it could be anything. Are you rooted? What ROM? What kernel? What is the battery state? Go into settings > apps and see what's running, start testing those out.
If your rooted, the problem with the screen waking is possibly superSU granting an app root access. Its usually a toast pop up saying that an interactive shell has been granted. At least it has been for me in the past. You can turn the notification off in the superSU settings.

my gf's HD2 used to do the same thing after she dropped it on its bottom right corner.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
My Nexus does that from time to time. Running AOKP JB preview builds. Latest franco kernel. Screen just turns on. No popups, no notification, just shows the lock screen until it times out again. Doesn't do it enough to worry me but it is a little odd.
No I have not rooted my nexus, using ICS 4.0.4. My phone is yakjuxw so haven't got the JB update yet..I have general apps like Facebook, whatsapp, power toggle, etc to name few.

I've done some looking around in this too but I think since flash is not supported in JB, they didn't build in provisions to keep the screen awake while using flash content. Don't think there is a way around it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
There is no "Stay Awake" function for the stock android browser which I am guessing you are using. However, depending if the ROM you are using has this available (most likely will) a workaround that I use is by going to:
phone settings/display and there should be an option for "Sleep"
... from there you just have to set the phone to sleep after a certain amount of minutes (30 minutes being the max). The only downside is that you have to turn off the screen of the phone manually each time.
Whoops never mind wrong thing.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
If its flash TVs or movies.....making it full screen keeps phone awake. If its playing on web page phone will sleep.
Not sure if that helps.
I'm running CMX so I don't have a app specific setting. I have set it to 30 minutes. The person above me, you are wrong. Like the other guy said, I looked into it and found that the modified flash app doesn't have that sleep timer provision so it gos to sleep even in full screen. Sometimes I actually do leave the phone on for 30 minutes and the browser closes. Its really annoying when watching a show like Doctor Who on Amazon Prime. Hopefully, amazon can make an android app for Prime members.

Ok so after many years with this problem I found out what's the culprit. Whenever I get a new Android phone and sign in to my Gmail account it breaks wifi. If I don't sign in to my Gmail it works fine wether if I have Google location services and notify me of networks checked. I think the problem is Google itself restoring backed up wifi settings.
I guess when they made the wifi policy changes on ics from gb it broke wifi and a hard reset will fix it but if you sign in to Gmail it'll restore all your wifi history from the day you first opened up your Google account.. Is there a way I can wipe everything wifi related? Or better yet a way I can forward this to Google? Their help links just send you in circles :banghead:
Edit: Anyone knows why wifi sucks up more power than it did back in Gingerbread? Back then you could keep it on stay awake always and battery was great. After ics if your wifi is set to stay awake its a big battery drainer.. What changed?
Actually I remember ics brought the option to switch from 2.4ghz to 5ghz. I see that on Jellybean the option was removed so I guess both frequencies are on automatically at all times now.

Keep wifi on during sleep set to never. Meaning your wifi goes to sleep when screen is off. It wasn't working properly for me.. Hasn't been since my E4GT days. Using the E4GT without signing in to my account is how I realized my google account had something to do with it. With no account it sleeps fine but the min I sign in it stops working then if I hard reset it's fixed. When you have it set to never you should see 3G activated when you turn screen on then wifi kicks back in automatically.

what exactly do you mean wifi auto connect fail? It has been auto connecting for me? do you mean auto connect as in walk home, phone detected wifi signal and automatically turn wifi on and connect? if thats the case then i have no idea as ive never tried to do so.
Anyways.........anyone know a good cm11 kernel? currently i am using stock kernel and maaaan its missing so many functions D:
testing since yesterday, the rom is stable and whitout problems, don't had crash etc, just have a glich when u take a screenshot (in the preview) but the captured immage is fine.
I think the only thing that must be fixed is the browser, some times is choppy, double tap for zoom sometimes don't works and the video preview don't work.
I'm not sure but i have noticed a slight battery drain, more than the 4.3 stock:good:

pretty stable nightly
Using CM11 nightly since yesterday. Had no issues except the screenshot preview. Screen shots are gettive saved correctly though. Also a little drop in battery life but maybe cause I am using it more. Is good for daily use.
I have flashed the nightly and there are 2 issues so far.
1. google now does not work
2. Spotify only plays 5 seconds then it goes mute while the playback continues.
I've found another issue: except for whatsapp and SMS I don't get any instant messaging notifications. Fb messenger as well as hangouts don't show anything in the status bar.
Funnily I use hangouts for SMS and it shows SMS...
Can someone confirm that?
Apart from that the only thing that really bugs me, is the glitch when playing music and powering off the screen. I would call it Playback-bug.
I dirtyflashed though. Too lazy to wipe, don't want to lose a lot of the stuff.
If nothing helps, I will wipe...

Ive noticed this a lot lately as well.
My gnex is no longer on any carrier, strictly use on Wi-Fi now, and ever since 4.3 I experience same exact thing as you. (It also seems to randomly forget access points I've saved multiple times for no reason hahaha)
Haven't tried 4.4 to see if it persists yet
