Does having a smaller number of home screens improve battery life? Ex: Does having 2 screens on LP get better life than 7 screens?

Should have next to zero impact on battery life unless you have 7 pages full of widgets that are constantly refreshing

Im looking for good battery life, something different/new. I was thinking sexy evo or desire rom

I really don't think you are going to find a big difference between ROMS in the context of battery life, train it, turn off the radios when you are not using them, turn off the update stuff, that's it, you find out differently please let us know.
Try VaelPak. Ive been runnin 2.2 with the HTC #11 Kernal and been easily makin it through a full day. i do turn off data connection when im not using it but its been super fast and havent had battery issues at all
I am running a complete stock latest updates on one of my Evo's and get well over 2 full days of battery life....50 hr average with moderate use. I can put a fully themed launcher pro ontop and still get 48 hrs. Hard to beat the latest software and launcher pro combo for the look I want and excellent battery life.

You said you were looking for good battery life and something new/different. I was basically giving you another option to explore. I have to sets of pics below. First set is a evo completly latest stock using launcher pro. Second set is completly latest stock without. These are just complete factory stock...hard to beat that battery life. And with launcher pro or ADW you can just theme the UI and whala good battery life and something new. Has enough speed for me overall...has excellant battery life...has the look I want the way I want. Unless there is something you just have to have in a cooked ROM that is not stock...why mess with a good thing already? Just an opinion and yes my other EVO is not stock... LOL
Wow that's amazing!! Setcpu? Juice ddefender?

I can only speak for myself but I've fallen in love with the MIUI ROM.It's fast, different, and battery is excellent with CM 7.6 snap kernel.I'd recommend it.Just my 2 cents...

That is straight up stock. The only thing I do is turn off all Hepatic feedback as a personal preference. Other than that straight stock with launchder pro. My other EVO I have tried every combination of ROM and Kernel there is and have not been as satisfied with battery life as stock kernel. I like the Virus senseless and the new stock kernel...of course I throw Launcher pro on top...LOL!!! Not trying to sell launcher PRO by no means but the current version is still based on 2.1 code but he is as of now in the process of writing code from scratch for his next version. I think the price will go up...unless you are in now...just a thought on a new UI in the works...
Minu is a very fast rom.....unfortunately 4g don't work, neither does hdmi. Blue tooth and sms are sketchy at best. When thoes issues are fixed....it may be the best rom out there. Right now I use vaelpak because I'm in a 4g area a lot. It's a great rom.and he is extremely quick to respond.

Not to be a ****, but I would call that (based on your screenshots) light to almost no use.

I love Launcher Pro Plus as Well!! I've been using Myn' warm 2.2 and just installing launcher pro, But I think there still a bit of htc junk running in the background. Whats the cleanest rom out there to use with mininum background to use with launcher pro?

From the launcher pro website he says he his writing the new version from scratch which I take to mean no htc at all...a totally new UI.

Ya that was minimum usage as a test and I would say it passed. The 48 hour one was more of a normal average usage for me...and still 2 days is pretty impressive for stock.
I don't like launcher pro's Icons

Hi,
Just coming from my galaxy s epic 4g touch which was pretty good on battery.. I know roms and kernels could fix that issue with the galaxy nexus cdma which isn't so good..
Which of you tested out a few kernels/Roms and found great battery life when putting the galaxy through it's paces?
I actually love love the phone but the darn battery kinna sucks
Welcome . I also left Sprint and the E4GT. I love this Nexus. The 720p display is so awesome. And official ICS is a major upgrade for the Android OS.
But sadly the battery life is nowhere near what I was running with Calk's ROM + ICS theme. I could go 40 hours easily on light use. And get 12 - 14 hours on heavy days with tons of use, 5 hours display time.
I put the Nexus in the middle for battery life. My old but awesome EVO 4G sucked battery life like a vampire. With heavy use maybe 5-6 hours and light use was maybe almost a full day.
The Nexus seems to be in the middle, for sure way better than the EVO 4G, but not as good as the Galaxy SII, for battery life.
I think with ICS being so fresh, and the Nexus GPU new too, it will take a few Google updates and revised ROM's to really extend battery life close to the SII.

Get the extended battery, can maybe add 2 hours extra life. Turn off LTE if you don't need it, 4G sucks battery pretty good.
As far as ROM's + kernels, there are some really good ones out there.
- Android Revolution HD
- AOKP + Franco kernel
- Operation Code Name
Many others.

Ive tried aokp w/ stock, francos, imo
to be honest, i have not tested the IMOs fully, as an update was just released and i decided to flash with jakebites mod.
I am not a battery stats crazy guy, but i can say that both francos and imo are great so far, improvement in speed and battery life over stock.
I've heard people are getting great battery life with trinity's new kernel and if you are looking for stability, i hear its on heyitslou's defiant
I've found this list to be the most complete.

I would like to hear your feedback on your experiences also, as there are just simply not enough hours in the day to try everything, just want to try the best. hope that helps...
Hi everyone,
I come from the original i9000 Galaxy S where I loved CM, but have upgraded to the S3.
Unlike the i9000, I actually do enjoy Touchwiz on the S3 so am willing to stick with it, but wouldn't mind trying CM10.1 or AOKP 4.2 just for a change. I am aware of their bugs (ie. bluetooth), but my main concern is BATTERY LIFE.
Presently, I'm on stock (rooted) and while I enjoy stock, the battery life has been crap for me since the JB upgrade. Because of this, I am looking to switch to either a custom TW rom or something AOSP.
From your experience, is battery life better or worse for you with Custom TW roms or with AOSP? If you answer Custom TW, can you please let me know which roms you prefer?
Thanks

No one can answer this because each device is different, each person uses their device differently and each device reacts differently to different settings. I'd say just try them out.

In my experience i've gotten better battery life on Touchwiz. Noticeably better using the phone in the same way.
So far my battery has been better than stock rom.
On the same setup i have better battery on aosp roms(using task aokp)
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
My battery is much better on AOKP than it was on TouchWhiz, however, my wife's battery is better than mine and she's on stock TW JB. Never can tell.
I currently am using WickedV6 and the battery life is fantastic. After a normal day, I normally have roughly 50-60% battery life when going to bed. Have not attempted any AOSP Rom on the S3. On my Captivate, the AOSP Roms ate the battery. Barely got through a 12 hour day without having to recharge.
I get about 5 hrs of screen time on AOKP before my phone dies.

Out of curiosity, are you guys all on wifi all day? I find my battery life to be ok when I'm on wifi, but unfortunately that is not an option for me at work so I am on HSPA+ all day.
Right now with new AOKP build, I am at 20% battery and my work day isnt even over yet....screen on time is only 40 minutes. I have Google Now and location services turned off, but can still barely make it through a work day with minimal screen time.
When I was on stock ICS, I remember going to be with 50% battery and 2 hrs screen time using HSPA+ all day.
good morning follow Note 2 users
I found something worth sharing for us permanently battery and resource thirsty.
I recently upgrade my Note 2 (N7105) to Stock KitKat 4.4.2 and immediately started checking the battery performance, which is quite impressive.
I have been using on 4.3 the TouchWiz Launcher but tried the Apex launcher on 4.4.2 battery performance went down significantly.
with Apex I managed to get barely 18 hours battery with normal use.
I have decided to test both touchwiz and apex with the same desktops (apps and widgets) over a single night without use.
the test with Apex led to a battery loss of 30%
the test with TouchWIz led to a battery loss of 7%
until I will find a better solution, I will stay with TouchWIz.
Any recommendations?

i am pretty comfortable with touchwiz and haven't tried anything elese in over a year. U can try go launcher. I used it earlier in my atrix 2 and it never had any issues.
Another one is nova.

Go launcher will suck more battery due to its tons of plugins

I am using nova as well. Maybe apex has a wakelock problem. You should check it first. If phone can't get to the deep sleep it consumes much battery.

I was using Themer and Aviate. I think themer is much better and battery consuming is little more than TouchWiz. But at the end I stay with TouchWiz
The stock 5.1.1 is now available OTA for my P600. My question is: What is better in 5.1.1 than on my current KitKat version?

Since upgrading, I have noticed much better performance on my note 10.1 2014. The apps open and close a little quicker for me. The biggest thing has been the improved battery life and quicker charge time. I have not had to worry about my device having a full day's worth of charge.
I'll second that... I was quite happy with kitkat.... but 5.1.1 runs like a dream on my SM-P600

Been using it for the second day now and absolutely love it. Concur with the other posters - snapper feel overall and improved battery life.
For instance, I see noticeable improvements in browser responsiveness in both Chrome and the Samsung browsers (especially scrolling).
Apps open and close faster. Can I quantify it? No....but in real world performance, it feels snappier in nearly all aspects.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And the million dollar question, does the screen still jump/jitter up and down when scrolling and you pause while keeping your finger stationary on the screen? Battery life is a moot point, as I average 8ish hours of SOT with my 5.1.1 aosp build and 3~4 days with mild use between charges. Its all how you use your tablet. Also, is the settings/pulldown menu themed with that easterly multi colored circle BS like on the note/s series phones?
