Hi,
I am in the fortunate situation that I can pick out any cell phone that I Want. The Phone I have as of today is a HTC Desire.
Before I choose out a phone I wonder if there are any Custom ROM that can compare with the "clean, smooth and fast" Oxygen Room by AdamG for Desire HD?
the Desire HD is the Desire much improved, but we don't have anything as clean as the oxygen rom in development yet, best you can do is CM6
i'm on the official sense rooted + buzz kernel 1.0.6 and its running like a dream
What is the big improvement? "Start-up from hibernating" ?
Isnt the big improvements software-wise, and not hardware?
4.3 inch screen very close to the surface, despite not being either IPS or Amoled but its just beautiful, simply use a classic desire after the DHD and you will understand
much better soft keys instead of hard to press hard keys
beautiful unibody design
50% more RAM
more efficient 2nd gen snapdragon, OCable to 1.5GHz
internal storage problem gone for good, you have around 1GB free internaly, you dont see a mention of A2SD or Data2sd around here
a GPU that can handle 800x480 games at last, runs quake2 at 60fps makes a laugh out of the old one
Genuine Four Point Multi-touch sensor, you will never loose a reckless racing match because the touch gone crazy and you wont have to explain it to your friends
better camera and flash, check here Desire HD Camera guide
all you need to do is make sure you can handle the size plus weight, also make sure the unit you purchase is clean of factory defects, more info here Compilation of DHD ISSUES
as for the battery, custom kernels and calibration will solve that for you
more info here Would you buy Desire or Desire HD?
any other question and it will be like asking me to buy it for your just kidding
good luck

Hi,
thank you for your reply
I have tried out a HD, but only with HTC Official Rom - and that ROM is lagging!
Great screen, yes ;-)
What do you mean about the problem with internal storage? Is the install location = SD as default, or is the internal storage expanded?
You may want to consider the battery before you buy, I tried every mod/kernel/custom rom/ 2g ect ect and the battery is terrible..1250mah is the reason why not matter how you look at it...When your out all day and some of the night without a charger then the phone becomes useless..
The main reason I sold mine, if that doesn't bother you then its a great phone..
Hd recording is pretty bad too, it becomes worse when compared to the SGS...a big difference..

Rooting the phone and installing the buzz kernel will eliminate lag in the stock rom. It will also improve battery life.
Internal storage is 1.5gb, which leaves about 1gb for apps, rest if for the rom.
If after the new kernel you find it still too slow you can try cyanogen mod. Its very fast and stable although battery life is a little less than stock rom for some people.
Sent with Christmas cheer.
the official rom lags because of the stupid /init bug, easily solved by enabling usb debugging mode check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826507
as an added speed i'm running Buzz kernel v1.0.6 with interactive governor and it never lags even if i try check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880573
HD recording is not bad as long as you learn how to adjust the settings, you can check the info in my camera guide
as for storage i meant with the classic desire you have very little 150MB internal storage, you have around 1GB with the DHD

Its not in the same league as the SGS...that goes for sound quality too..having had both phones and comparing them there is a big difference.
did this just turn out into an SGS vs Desire HD thread?? i don't get it really
the question was against Desire, there is another thread praising SGS go there
if you want me to go ahead and start hammering your SGS low points, i can go right now

What is the best Z ROM that is not change with stock sense?
Just try a couple and see what works the best for you. Personally if you want a sens Rom look at Magnolia it is my daily driver and love it!!! Have not tried z roms myself. All the ones I looked at had to many bugs for my tastes but some will swear by them. Just look at the posts and see what is working and what is not.
Run Super Z. Best Z ROM, hitting consistent 1900's on quadrant, can be OC'ed to 1.2GHz, and has just been updated to 5.0.
are you hitting 1900 without overclock? I get 1100 with just the rom lol. 1900 sounds amazing...

The sd card you use makes a massive difference to quadrant scores. 32 gb cards are typically class 2 while 8 gb cards can be class 6.

Speed wise its super or incredibly. Features wise its uber, no other z rom comes even remotely close.

I like Warm Z.

I really like Re-EngineeredZ. The Dev's had some trouble with it, but I know chingy is extremely committed to his ****.
Re-Engineered Z has worked just fine for me. I have had no problems.
I am using Warm Z TwoPointTwo Nightlies. Its my first ROM and I love it. Not super buggy and can be used as a daily driver. Only one issue with call waiting, I don't get a notification of an incoming call when I am in a call. But do get a notification when they leave a VM.
I have been using Nils' Business Sense v6.1. I preferred it over Warm Zs. All the dev's here do excellent work. Don't put too much into the quadrant scores. Quality isn't always the fastest. The speed is usually in the kernel (Ziggy makes some great kernels).
Hi guys, just wondering is someone could tell if I can flash inspire 4G Roms onto a dhd? If yes then do I have to flash a dhd kernel?
Cheers

Why would you want to? They are nearly the same phone, just one is 4g. The DHD has been developed on longer so I really don't see the point in trying to get an inspire Rom to function properly on our phone.
Plus the developed roms are the same roms but optimized for the inspire.
Hmm leaked from my thumbs through my mobile device....

I have an inspire, haven't flashed an inspire rom in weeks, I mess with different kernels, some don't play nice with certain builds, so i wouldn't see why not give it a shot, always nandroid, should be fine.

So I gather you don't know then! The reason I want to use an inspire rim is that they have a better selection of pure soap roms.
Why its should matter to you as to the reasons for me wanting to use inspire roms, I don't know, however I gather you don't know the answer to the question.
Could anyone else please help with the question.
Can we flash inspire roms onto the dhd?

Technically, neither device is 4G. HSPA+ is a 3G standard, and cannot really be considered "true" 4G.
As far as I'm aware, both the Desire HD and the Inspire both support HSPA+, the former to 14.4mbps and the latter to 21mbps - could be wrong though, and they could even be the same, and it's just AT&T's HSPA+ network that could potentially reach 21mbps!
That being said, I'd very much doubt you'd ever see anywhere close to either of these speeds in the real world.
Regards,
Dave
foxmeister you are dead on.
There are minor differences. And don't forget to include the Telus DHD. It is nearly identical to the Inspire except for the storage. Inspire has 4GB and the Telus DHD has 1.5GB.
I believe there are 2 other differences between these 2 and the european model. Of course the bands are different for one. Also something to do with the sound. It seems inspires and telus DHDs flashed with european ROMs have tinny and low sound and require a patch.
I have flashed a few inspire ROMs on my Telus DHD in hopes of getting that fake 4G speedboost. ROMs work fine but as foxmeister stated it is all a big lie. Running a stock ginger ROM now and it has just as fast data speed as the popular fixxed inspire ROMs. Only difference it says H on mine instead of H+. I think they just changed the graphic. What a joke.
But yeah the inspire ROMs work on the DHD.
Everyones perfect ROM is going to be different, so here are a list of things I wanted before i set on my search for my ageing desire.
1. Smooth and responsive UI, not fussed about quadrant speeds etc.
2. Good battery life. I'm quite a heavy user, so never gonna get more than a day anyway. Screen is always the heaviest user of my battery.
3. Stability, who doesnt!
4. Plenty of free space to install loads of apps.
I was already a big fan of Go Launcher/SMS/Contacts/Keyboard, so sense isnt a big issue for me. So I tried loads of roms and during the process found some other things I just couldnt live without.
5. Sense weather lockscreen. Love it, swinging the ring around the screen makes a great stress toy!
6. Sense quick settings, the full list not just a handful.
7. Extended power menu, booting straight into recovery is great.
I'm currently using Sebastians Runnymead v5 rom with ad2sdx and ticks my box in all areas. There is a slight question mark over stability tho, i had a couple of freezes on v4.8 and some corruption on the ext4 partition.
Hopefully these have gone in v5.
I have an HTC Desire Amoled Soff, 8gig Samsung class 10 SD card (with only a 6Mb/s write speed, wtf? but 20+Mb/s read.) 123MB free RAM, 485MB free ROM(love it!) and 40 apps installed.
Can anyone else suggest a better ROM for me?
Thanks.
AOSP is always going to be a good choice but you say sense is not an issue, but from your list of requirements, it is...
does USB-mode work for u on this ROM?

Lol, very true. I was using Oxygen for a while and had no complaints at all, until I found my bluetooth headset and wanted to press the button and say the name of who i wanted to call. Not sure if that feature was implemented, but I never could get it working.

Just tested it and yes it does. However, I do seem to recall that I had problems with that a couple of days ago, although it might have been on a previous release.
Try LeeDroid 3.3.3 HD port. I'm loving it... Ticks all your boxes with the sense 3 patch.

My perfect rom...
I love the speed of CM7.1 and its clean interface. very slick, and would have it as my permanent ROM if if had the D2SD scripts that supernova 2.4.0.0 has.
I do love some of the things sense has, like the gallery app that connects to facebook and the clock, but if CM 7.1 had the integrated d2sd that supernova has then I could east live without sense...
You know you can add data2sd to most ROMS anyway?
yeah iu know, but i really dont have the time at the moment to mess about too much.
i like how starburst just works "out the box".....
maybe when i have a little time i will look into it and put together my own custom rom....
Redux v2.0 for sure my friend. It's stable, fast and very smooth. Very good battery life and no fc's. I'm using it for the last months and before this rom I was on redux 1.2 Just give it a try. Some tips are dalvik to ext, launcher pro plus and fancy widget 1.3.0 if you like Htc clock widget.

I try Evolutionary Sense and is very good rom. Fast, stable whit many apps from the market, rich of all kind of widget.
The gingerbread 2.3.3 based on ACE kernel is most usable than the stock rom.
For me it's the best.
I'm sorry that this ROM has no update for over 2-3 months.
Than i used CyanogenMod whit good impressive but, i think, the Desire without Sense is about a thing like donut without hole. !!
Now i test MIUI-XJ from 2 days. It's too late to make a review but i see the good stability, speed and very nice.
Bye.
You must to try MIUI. Seriously.

Well yeah as the desire was initially only designed to work with class 4-6 cards, many class 10's only perform as a class 6 too.

reallly? well you stopped me from buying a class 10. thanks.
Some work. Terepin here reports A-Data class 10 gets class 10 speeds.
I can report that Kingston Class 10's only get Class 6 speeds.
Although class 10 is a good investment for the future though, but probably cheaper then anyway
Hi XDA'ers.
I know that this is a topic that is a matter of opinion, but here goes anyways. My GF is pretty annoyed with her Wildfire S, due to it slowness and lack of storage.
So what i am looking for is a fast HTC Sense 2.3.5 ROM with Apps2SD(ext) support, which is stable?
Is there any custom Kernel that is worth trying in terms of stability?
Which one would you recommend as a daily driver for a Wildfire S?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards

i think the best rom would be m1ndh4x8r GB2.3.5 for most people. For me i didnt really like that rom but i now use the HTC Thing rom which is pretty stable and can overclock to 825mhz. There are very minor bugs at times but shouldnt be much of a problem. BTW for the Thing rom i dont like the final version, so i use the version before it.
Those two roms are really facts cuz they have the supercharger scripts.
If you dont like those two Hensemod is also a good sense rom thats really stable too.
hey mads! (it's bene )
i would suggest cm7.2 by alquez and link2sd instead of apps2sd and a higher class sd card if you don't have it already.
and eoghan's kernel fits the rom really well and is pretty stable.

in my opinion i like cm7 better but didnt he ask for sense rom?
oh god, i completely missed that part, i'm sorry.
well in that case, if the person who's gonna use the phone isn't really tech savvy and already used to stock rom, i'd just root the device, remove some of the system apps that are not used, and use link2sd for the space problem.
if i was going for a custom sense rom, i'd go for .sense by benjamin.

is .sense fast and have enough internal storage without link2sd or data2sd?
Hi Bene Long time, are you doing well?
Yeah would definetly use CyanogenMod if it was my phone, but my GF is happy with sense, just not the internal storage of the phone, so therefore i'm looking for a stable sense rom.
Will give .sense and HTC Thing a spin later today then Thanks for the recommendations, hopefully one of them will work out
How is battery life with OC compared to stock clock? Do you underclock with screen of, and what govenor do you use?
Are you running stock HTC kernel or is there any kernel worth trying?

forgot that you can try some odexed roms as they have much internal space.
Hi guys.
So this is what i ended up with HenseMod6
This was the ROM that was most like stock, debloated and stable it seems. Had to make titanium backup of HTC widget to import to ROM, but otherwise not any issues so far.
Seems stable and fast, the misses seems to like it
My take on the other ROM's i tired.
HTC Thing's - Seemed to run stable, but didn't like the custom theme, and annoying boot sound.
.sense - download link not working :-(
m1ndh4x8r - Didn't run stable. Would always crash if CPU was running at max clock, even at stock frequence :-(
Phone is now running at 768/200/Smartassv2 with 1 GB apps2sd partition, with no problem
