[Q] Best Z ROM? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the best Z ROM that is not change with stock sense?

Just try a couple and see what works the best for you. Personally if you want a sens Rom look at Magnolia it is my daily driver and love it!!! Have not tried z roms myself. All the ones I looked at had to many bugs for my tastes but some will swear by them. Just look at the posts and see what is working and what is not.

Run Super Z. Best Z ROM, hitting consistent 1900's on quadrant, can be OC'ed to 1.2GHz, and has just been updated to 5.0.

are you hitting 1900 without overclock? I get 1100 with just the rom lol. 1900 sounds amazing...

The sd card you use makes a massive difference to quadrant scores. 32 gb cards are typically class 2 while 8 gb cards can be class 6.

Speed wise its super or incredibly. Features wise its uber, no other z rom comes even remotely close.

I really like Re-EngineeredZ. The Dev's had some trouble with it, but I know chingy is extremely committed to his ****.

Re-Engineered Z has worked just fine for me. I have had no problems.

I am using Warm Z TwoPointTwo Nightlies. Its my first ROM and I love it. Not super buggy and can be used as a daily driver. Only one issue with call waiting, I don't get a notification of an incoming call when I am in a call. But do get a notification when they leave a VM.

I have been using Nils' Business Sense v6.1. I preferred it over Warm Zs. All the dev's here do excellent work. Don't put too much into the quadrant scores. Quality isn't always the fastest. The speed is usually in the kernel (Ziggy makes some great kernels).

[Q] Whats the fastest HD Rom for my desire?

Ive tried the RCmixHD rom which is good but gets a bit laggy sometimes, specially when opening apps, just wondering if anyone has tried most of the main HD roms and can give and opinions?
Only HD roms please ive tried everything else just bought a class 6 sd card so im trying them all out.
InsertCoin is damn fast
Try with superrom, is great, work perfect, but i dont know how put toggle in this rom.
I was pretty happy with ReflexTSense, there are few kernels as well with it, so if you get the 1000 one, you should have one of the fastest HD rom, OFC you will need to overclock your phone at least for 1113mhz(I actualy keep my desire on this speed all the time/on demand)
To make you even more unsure which one to use, i'll vote for Cool Sense HD (see my sig). It was the first and only ROM for me that impressed me with speed and stability. Also notification toggle works.
You see, it's a personal taste. You will have to make your own experiences...
I have tried RCmix and now running Reflex, reflex is a little quick than RC i think, but they were both pretty good. I might try Insertcoin tonight.
Thanks!
9600xt Desire HD is the fastest hd rom atleast title says dat..
i m gonna try it now...
i have tried rcmix hd,insert coin and cool hd v7,v8...i liked cool hd...but when i upgraded from cool hd v7 to v8 i failed to download apps frm market duno why is dat...
anybody else had dis problem wid cool hd v8
How about trying Cool HD and Z ROM? As the title says, That is the rom which fitted in NAND. It is, sometimes, faster than some normal sense rom.
InsertCoin is fast, too. It feels similar to Cool HD. But for me, I prefer Cool HD.

For me its ReflexTsense, tried all the others but always go back to this. I have had higher quadrant scores with RC Mix definately, but for useability and actual speed when working Reflex is great, no FC's, no lag

My vote for this!
Because we don't consider speed alone but stability also.
The most stable and fast i found so far.
I agree about rcmix HD, it is too laggy.

[Q] how do I improve benchmark scores?

My benchmark scores are terrible, just short of 1100. According to the benchmark app, quadrant, I am very under average compared to most Evos. What are some mode, roms, hacks, etc that I can run to get back to at least average, if not higher? I'm currently trying out Mik Z and I typically run either MikFroyo or Konikub's Elite Series II.
I know that those numbers look great when they are high, but the real test is...does your phone feel fast? Dont put too much faith in those benchmarks, your eyes, and hands will tell you if your phone is fast or not. Cheers!

The phone works perfectly on every rom I've used except CM7 (I used the wimax alpha, so it wasn't perfect for me). Very fast, iPhone fast even. However, I know that our UI is processor based and not graphics based (so our Adreno 200 doesn't have to process the home screens and such). This is strictly because I've seen Evos run 1700s and I'd like to try to get it.
Most of the roms that run 1300 and above are aosp roms. And it also depends on overclock speed and and kernel. it isn't just about choosing the right rom but the right combination of rom kernel and clock speed. it is basically trial and error. This website was started by skydeaner and it is a review of several different roms and kernels. It is a good website for the information that you want and can help minimize the amount of trial and error. hope this helped

well you also have to keep in mind every phone is going to act different. Some phones can over clock much higher than others. Some kernals play well with one phone, and terrible with another.
So you could exactly match my setup, overclocked exactly the same, everything, and yet one phone or the other is going to almost always be faster.
I know my phone doesn't seem to have issues one way or another betweem BFS and CFS kernals, but some people I know, and I've seen people say it on here, their phones really only handle one or the other very well.
but as the other guy said, if you want fast speeds, dump the sense roms, AOSP, specially GB is going to be much faster.
Gb is fast. Cm7 with savagedzen cfs at 1190mhz averages 1500-1700 I have gotten 1400 with mikfroyo 4.5 and netarchy 4.3.2 cfs more have.

What could I do to speed up my Inc.

Hey I was wanting to knw what could I do to speed up my Inc. I am currently running redemption 2.3 with overclocked kernel. It overclocked to 1.113. Or if someone has any other suggestions of roms and kernels it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

try re engineered z rom, its smokin fast with no oc
Ok I will. Does re–engineered z roms have custom mods u can add on to it. I am big in moding the title bar and the over all look of everything. Lol.
Dinc
Oh which version to get for the re engineered roms.
Dinc
Reengineered, ziggys latest w/ cfs and havs, adw launcher, desensed. Enough said!
I didn't like Incredibly Re-engineered Z. It was bloated with crap I didn't want and was stupid-quirky about swapping kernels. Straight Incredibly Re-engineered version 2.3.1 is my preference. It's not *****y about kernels, has an unthrottling mod, has a bunch on themes that won't break the optimizations, all kinds of other appearance mods both flashable and metamorph. I've got that version, running the cyan 4x5 theme, unthrottled, with Ziggy's 031811 beta kernel oc'd to 1153MHz. Runs like a raped ape. Totally love it.

Incredibly Re-Engineered is a great Rom, but the no MMS over wifi was a killer for me. Magnolia is 100% DInc framework, so there are no EVO/Z port quirks and is very peppy, drop a Ziggy or HIL kernel and your good to go. There isn't a whole lot of theming, but there is some, and both the themer and dev are very responsive and helpful when it comes to one-off modding

Ive had none of those issues with z, but the regular re eng is to slow and has just as much bloat.

Run Cyanogen 7 with a stock kernel (overclock if you want but it does not do much) and you will notice the difference. From what I have seen, most of the Z-Roms are slow and full of bugs.
Cyanogen also scored quite a bit higher on Quadrant and Smartbench benchmarks.
I agree CM7(gingerbread) will improve your overall speed of the phone.
CM7 did some work for my phone. I recommend it.

Does cm7 have mods for it are do I get them. I will definitely look into that one.

Sweet. Can somebody send me the link for cm7 mods.

If you want to keep the Sense UI - some prefer it, myself included, I'm a "bells and whistles" guy, try SkyRaider 3.5, it will not disappoint you, is smooth as butter fast, and has not once given me any ****. I am going to flash CM7 tonight to see whats new with it and how it runs but historically (IMO!) it is a tad too plain Jane for me.
I was a "Sense" guy till I went to CM7, now I've been converted. Almost every widget Sense brings to the table there is a similar and as polished replacement. So far I haven't found a single thing that I miss from Sense with my current CM7 setup. I actually went back to Z ROM a couple days ago because I thought I missed sense then I realized how much faster CM7 really was. I might go back to Sense once there is a stable GingerSense available if there is a performance increase but till them I'm all about CM7, its also worth noting that my battery life is nearly double with CM7 compared to other Sense ROMs I've ran using a the same sync profiles on each of them.
Honestly, I'm going to recommend Warm 2.2. I'm running it with the Ziggy 12/19/10 that is included, UNDERclocked to 806MHz. It's still smooth as silk and lasts forever on battery.
I'm using Inc. Rom 1.5 Beta 2, and it is smoking fast (and has Sense)
Generally Sense is additional overhead, so any ROM that doesn't use it, has the potential to be fast.
I run Redemption 2.4 with the last Sense Incredikernel. So far im impressed with the smartass scaling and Ive underclocked to 883mhz (although i have the option to overclock for more speed) and ive noticed no slowdown. Not to mention Redemption is the most rock solid rom ive used so far. Im not a big theme-ing guy, im more about optimization, so maybe another RR fan can speak on that.

[Q] Disappointed with perf of Synergy Kingdom ROM port, where do I go now?

Hello,
Yet another "which rom?" thread, but I'm hoping people can either concur or deny for all the magic reportedly gained by Synergy's "God Mode," performance is still not that great.
I was using netarchy's BurntDroid for about 10 months, and figured I'd hit up this god mode to get even more performance out of the system. However, after flashing, not only was there no gain, but responsiveness of Rosie as well as all of the apps is much worse. Yes, the ROM looks great, this is quite obvious; but with the performance this poor, I just can't stay with it.
Now, I'm wondering, to do with the God Mode magic, how do I know it's there? How do I verify that the partitions are designed as explained? I guess, I'm so disappointed that I'm skeptical of myself... am I doing it wrong?
Other than that, the old generic question, which ROM looks pretty nice and has the best performance?
Thanks,
Matt

I've tried both Synergy w/godmode and without, and my phone performs better without. I use the GoldenMonkey 1.1 kernel, and have 0 complaints.
Really depends on what you want for features and style.
A lot of the ROMs are pretty similar, but some allow for more customization of things like the Rosie Launcher and notifications.
Personally, I've had a lot better performance and luck with Myn's Synergy ROM over Virus' Synergy Kingdom. I loaded up Synergy Kingdom and it was just laggy and slow for like a day; Myn's is pretty slick and I haven't had any issues with it.
I also like the MikG ROM.
Those are the main ones I've tried and recommend. Although right now I'm having data issues, and I don't know if it's the ROM or my phone or Sprint or what.
I have tried Synergy, MikG, Kings Shooter and Kings Alliance. I am currently running Alliance as it seems to have better response times for me, at least so far...just flashed it yesterday. Biggest thing I have found is trial and error.

Thanks guys!
I just ran V6 Supercharger and it really improved performance. I'll see how it is after running the system without reboot 10+ hours though; and how terribly it lags my BlastMonkeys when I go in and out of coverage areas (subway).
I'm running netarchy's toastmod kernel, so I'll install golden monkey... why not!
Anyway, appreciate the ROM suggestions... I'll take a look at them and see which is best for performance with some style.
I'm coming from the htc Inspire to the evo and most of this roms are ported from there and they don't work that great on the evo and all of inspire roms has working 4g even cm and miui I cant say the same for the evo. Probably stock 233 works better lol.

Hey branded try caulkin is the **** man!!

Sky Raider.. anyone?

I have been using it for a week now and have to say VERY happy. Who else??
I love it! Should have ran this when it was released!
i absolutely love this ROM, very fast, stable, and just to my liking. I just have to figure out whats causing my batt to drain so fast. i didnt have that problem when i was on cm7 rom. Is anyone else experiencing the batt drain
The Sense ROMs like Skyrider and Newt's stuff definitely look slick and have some nice features, but I can't sacrifice the performance that I get with AOSP. Using default kernels with no overclocking, my quadrant scores are about 50% higher using an AOSP ROM like CM or MIUI than they are with any of the Sense ROMs I've tried. At the end of the day I'd rather get the snappiest performance possible than pretty widgets.

Implying quadrant scores equals high performance.
I'm using skyraider and absolutely love it. I thought stock was snappy as hell, and skyraider is still slightly better. Excited for those guys to release a new version, but I'm in no hurry. These guys really went all out to truly give you that added experience of a custom ROM. Especially the notification bar.
Battery life has been excellent, too. Someone mentioned battery drain, but I'm squeezing well over 30 hours with moderate use. Absolutely no complaints

Um, no. That was your inference, not my implication. Benchmarking is still useful as a metric though; otherwise we're all just sitting around talking about subjective stuff like "feel".
We can talk about stuff besides quadrant scores - for instance, I have much more free system ROM running AOSP than Sense. But really I was just sharing my two cents, if you disagree then you should run a Sense ROM, I promise I won't try to stop you.

SkyRaider and the Gingerbang.....the only two roms with ZERO problem, I'm running Gingerbang and my wife has Skyraider, I can flip a coin and be happy with either one, both of them are rock solid. I have tried them all and wouldn't use anything else as daily driver.
I have been running skyraider zeus for awhile now it has no problems everything works an my battery life is better on this usually around 30 to 40 hours on moderate use an it works good with my slingbox
Same here...loving the Skyraider! Tried MIUI and the Virtuous ROM and they had several issues for me. Skyraider it its for now.
