Weather Sense Clock - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running the sense clock with weather and now the weather will not show up unless I have wifi running?? hmm

I would check settings for mobile data to be on.

I tried that still no go.. ugh sucks

Location
I believe your problem is with your phone not knowing where you are. Your phone hasn't received any data from the gps satellites. Wifi helps with location, so that is why it would work then. Check your location settings and make sure both options are checked, and load google maps. Once it knows your location it should work. If not, try removing and adding the widgets again, or rebooting

[Q] GPS help

I downloaded fake gps on my a100 and set myself to monaco for a laugh....
big oops that was, now i can't get back home...
When I connect to mobile 3g or anyother wifi, the gps is fine, but at home on my hub, it allways sets me to monaco.... (wish i did live there!!!!)
I've deleted fake gps, and reset my hub.. nothing works. It must be linked to my wifi at home but how can I get it working again......
Thanks in advance....
Try this: go to settings > developer options > uncheck allow mock locations.
Sent from my A100 using Tapatalk 2
Done that. Even done a reset agps state.... nothing.... only reports wrong GPS state when at home..... annoying more than anything
On the market it says to disable the use wireless networks option in loction settings to avoid the issue you are having. Have you tried that?
Sent from my A100 using Tapatalk 2
Tried that, no joy. (or very very slow). Fake GPS obviously set something somewhere that needs to be reset. Grrrrrrr. Wifi GPS all ways worked fine before.... not a major problem this, just a tad annoying ....
Are you rooted? You could try deleting the files in data/GPS/...make a backup first of course
Sent from my A100 using Tapatalk 2
I am rooted. Cleared out /data/GPS and made no difference... still in Monaco.. ermmmm weird..

Try an app called faster fix, and reset your GPS pool it may trigger a re center on your location.
Tapatalked from my Galaxy S II.
Downloaded and run. Selected UK and hit go. Message at bottom says failure, please try again'
Try deleting your home wifi, rebooting, and re- adding your home wifi. It has to be something associated with your home wifi, since it works OK everywhere else. If that don't work, email the app dev.
Sent from my A100 using Tapatalk 2
I looked at the app in play store to get email address and noticed they have now put a warning on the description to make sure you disable use wifi for GPS before running to avoid problems.
Grrrrrr if only they had put that before I'd run it... others beware.
I have emailed them and will post reply.
Cheers anyway all.
Got it sorted. Original dev of app didn't help at all, just said look in forums....idiot.
I reset router, turned off wifi GPS and left tablet for 2 hours getting a GPS signal. I then turned on wifi and it worked..... oh well... cheers for help
Could somebody give me a link to or send me the GPS directory files. I will try deleting mine and copy the working once.
My GPS is still dead...not even a single sat after hours. I have tried the patch No2 now I am going to try the No1 Patch.
Hey filking - I had the same trouble as you with fake GPS and I've tried all the recommended steps you mentioned but to no avail.
Do you mind listing them out step by step what you did so I can make sure I'm doing the right fix?
Many thanks

Phone thinks I'm a thousand miles away

I have a weird situation that I've had since I got my GS3. I go to school in Milwaukee, WI. However, if my phone updates its location while I'm in my dorm room (only that little room), it thinks I'm in Cisco, TX. I can tell you that it is NOT 80° F in Milwaukee. I'm stumped on how to fix it. I'm rooted and currently running CM10
Maybe try gps toolbox form the play store and run it. That may help out on the location issues

Update your profile and prl. Should help.

Make sur your in an area with strong 3g/4g/wifi signal then update prl/profile and restart phone. happens to me when in a bed location for internet.

is this happening while on wifi, mobile network, or both?

Both. I think I'm going to try the ideas given above, although I'm pretty sure my profile and prl are up to date already. I'll get back on how that goes.
Thanks everyone for the feedback!
Once I tried using google maps with the GPS turned off by accident.
It wasn't such a good idea forgetting to turn on the gps

Maybe your dorm room is actually a portal.

I am having gps connection issues myself. I have even replaced the phone. Currently, I have to reboot the phone to get the gps to connect. I have installed the app gps status and still have issues. Has anyone else had the same issues?

Well, I found that I cannot update my PRL and profile the traditional way while on cm10 because it's not touchwiz based. (Maybe I can fix it when I find a good jelly-bean touchwiz ROM.) How else can I update it? The GPS toolbox didn't help to fix anything.
I want to point out that my GPS works fine and Google maps works great.
A hypothesis I have is that someone with a router a floor above me is from Texas and one of those companies that sends trucks out and associates routers with a location to make it able to find your position without connecting to he internet while still having WiFi on associated that router with Cisco, TX. I dismiss this, tho, because there a lot of other routers here, including my own that would only be registered with this location. Plus my GPS SHOULD override that, right?

Have you been messing with mock locations at all?

No, I have not.
what weather app are you using?
Maps (on wifi only and on GPS only), and GPS toolbox report your proper location correct?

Both the bone built into the cm10 lock screen (I believe they get it via yahoo weather) and the one from my "fancy clock" widget that uses AccuWeather. If they update outside my dorm room, they're correct, but if its when I'm in the small room (with good GPS signal, 3G, and WiFi), it says I'm in Texas.
Google maps does, and I think GPS toolbox does but I don't know my longitude and latitude.

try going to http://www.geoiptool.com/
and checking what it says when your in your dorm.
Try on 3g, on wifi, and in airplane mode with wifi on please [with GPS off]
Go to settings-developer options-and check if 'Allow Mock Locations' is checked, not 100% sure if that would help, but I know it usually shows you like 2 or 3 blocks away from your accurate location, just incase a site, or someone is looking for your location, like I said, not sire 100% if that would help, but worth the try, good luck

I know on my old S2 on CM9 there was a way to temporarily boot to stock to update the prl and profile. Not sure if that is a option for our phone. I haven't really messed with cyanogenmod on this phone yet.

[Q] Accuweather widget not updating in JB

Hello, I have an issue with the stock weather widget (accuweather) not updating automatically. I have to actually click on it and open it up for the information to update even though the refresh time is set to 1 hour. I tried rebooting, removing and re-adding widget. My Ace 2 has JB XXMF1 stock rom and rooted. I removed some of the bloatware (but not accuweather). Anyone know how to fix this?

i know the problem it needs both internet and gps to actually refresh the current weather on your current location.. so make sure to open the settings to enable location acces in the settings on the phone

I don't think the widget needs GPS to refresh. My location settings has all location access enabled besides GPS (which I don't get indoors anyway). After all, it refreshes when I click the widget and open up the information (weekly temperatures etc)

no it needs it.. it seems the new widegt mod of accuweather needs both wifi and gps.. i face the same problem but when i turn on gps and wifi it worked like a charm..
Can someone else confirm that it actually needs GPS? It doesn't make sense to me. The widget was working fine in gb. I think that i removed a system service or something that the widget needs..

My gps is always on, but I did notice the widget didn't properly auto-update on MF1.
Am on MG2 now tho and it's working fine it updates hourly for me, and manually updating in between will not reset this counter.
Just to make sure tho, i've turned off gps...
And that has no influence on the updating process either

This widget is crappy anyway. Why you don't use different one there are plenty of weather widgets in google play?
I just like it. ..

I use it cause i think it's ace!
I noticed it stopped auto-updating for me earlier, but then i've deleted app data of weather widget, weather widget main and weather demon and it started working again.
Only downside to this tho is that u need to re-add all your saved locations (well and settings, but that's not much work )

[Solved] GPS stopped working?

I've recently lost all gps connectivity, can't get a lock no matter how long i wait.
It's not just Google Maps, i can't get a location with any program.
Tried third party apps as 'GPS Status' and 'GpsFix Deluxe' to reset a-gps functions, but no luck.
I don't know for sure, but i believe this started after updating to B111.
Does anybody have any tips on how to troubleshoot this?
Thanks in advance!
Try installing an older version like B107 and have a look if it's working then.

Fixed it myself.
Don't know why, but i've switched off google's location services i could find (because there seem to be 2/3 locations for these options), rebooted and then switched them back on.
Now they work again, but i don't understand why i've got to have google's location services turned on to have gps with any app at all?

Do you mean Google's location services under Accounts -> Google -> Location Settings, the warning that you get that refers to Google when you toggle "Access my location" on under Settings -> Location services?

Google Maps location not working in power saving mode

I'm using a Tab S 8.4 LTE, having an issue using Google Maps. When Location is in power saving mode, trying to find my location in Google Maps just gives me a dialog box asking me to turn on GPS to improve location accuracy, and after I decline the blue location button simply refuses to work. Google Maps is the only app that has this problem, every single other app that needs to find location has no problem using Power Saving Mode location service to find my location, whether it's a weather app like Accuweather or a map app like Citymapper, or even the browser version of Google Maps. When I choose to turn on GPS it actually does find my location immediately, while the device is still searching for a GPS signal. I already tried clearing cache and data and reinstalling Maps. My Tab S is my only device that is having this problem. Does anyone else get this?

The thing is pal by declining the only thing it has to work off then is your WiFi and mobile data which takes longer.
For anybody who disagrees with the wifi not being usable as a location aid well it surprised me to find that when google sent those vans around taking those lovely detailed photos of your street thats not all they were after. They also logged every wireless network they went past with their location at the time so that if needed you only had to have wifi switched on and an internet connection to give a pretty accurate reading of your location...
And theyve gone even further...they dont need to send vans out to keep this list updated.., they actually use your phones ...so you become a network information gathering tool which sends back to google any wifi networks you find combined with the strengh and location you were in
Sneaky blighters
So in answer to your question either turn on gps or turn on your wifi and mobile data...or just wifi if its connected to the net.

It doesn't just take longer, it just doesn't work at all in any way, even with both WiFi and mobile data turned on. Instantly works when I activate GPS, even if I'm indoors and the device still hasn't find a GPS signal to refine the location.

it just picked up my laptops location nicely, i know its not google maps app but it will work in the same scenarios you could need it in.

Like I said everything that isn't google maps app, including the browser Google Maps, has no problems. In desperation I tried a factory reset too but that didn't work. I just wondered if its only me who is having this issue.

"Google location Reporting" and it had set "location reporting " for the device to off, i turned it to on and viola location working off mobile data and wifi.

Thanks for the help. Sadly turning location history on didn't solve it for me for whatever reason but its good to know it's not just my device being faulty somehow.
