[Q] Accuweather widget not updating in JB - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have an issue with the stock weather widget (accuweather) not updating automatically. I have to actually click on it and open it up for the information to update even though the refresh time is set to 1 hour. I tried rebooting, removing and re-adding widget. My Ace 2 has JB XXMF1 stock rom and rooted. I removed some of the bloatware (but not accuweather). Anyone know how to fix this?

i know the problem it needs both internet and gps to actually refresh the current weather on your current location.. so make sure to open the settings to enable location acces in the settings on the phone

I don't think the widget needs GPS to refresh. My location settings has all location access enabled besides GPS (which I don't get indoors anyway). After all, it refreshes when I click the widget and open up the information (weekly temperatures etc)

no it needs it.. it seems the new widegt mod of accuweather needs both wifi and gps.. i face the same problem but when i turn on gps and wifi it worked like a charm..

Can someone else confirm that it actually needs GPS? It doesn't make sense to me. The widget was working fine in gb. I think that i removed a system service or something that the widget needs..

My gps is always on, but I did notice the widget didn't properly auto-update on MF1.
Am on MG2 now tho and it's working fine it updates hourly for me, and manually updating in between will not reset this counter.
Just to make sure tho, i've turned off gps...
And that has no influence on the updating process either

This widget is crappy anyway. Why you don't use different one there are plenty of weather widgets in google play?

I just like it. ..

I use it cause i think it's ace!
I noticed it stopped auto-updating for me earlier, but then i've deleted app data of weather widget, weather widget main and weather demon and it started working again.
Only downside to this tho is that u need to re-add all your saved locations (well and settings, but that's not much work )

Weather Sense Clock

I am running the sense clock with weather and now the weather will not show up unless I have wifi running?? hmm
I would check settings for mobile data to be on.
I tried that still no go.. ugh sucks
Location
I believe your problem is with your phone not knowing where you are. Your phone hasn't received any data from the gps satellites. Wifi helps with location, so that is why it would work then. Check your location settings and make sure both options are checked, and load google maps. Once it knows your location it should work. If not, try removing and adding the widgets again, or rebooting

[Q] AGPS not updating location

For some reason my AGPS has completely stopped updating my location on google maps. My regular GPS works great, but i need the agps to update for beautiful weather. I'm on EC05 rooted but otherwise stock. Anybody know of a fix for this? Or is anyone experiencing the same problem?

[Q] Weather App not Updating since Gingerbread Update

Anyone else having this issue since the update? Mine hasn't updated since 24/5...
Have tried what has been suggested in other threads (purging app data, removal of widget and hard reset etc) but nothing seems to make any difference.
Goto the weather app and press 'menu'. Click on Settings, and make sure the 'Scheduled Sync' option is checked
Thanks but no luck. When I enter the app and refresh it tells me the connection was interupted; over and over again.

This is a problem that we've had in the UK on T-Mobile builds of Froyo, it's only now getting fixed in Gingerbread. The update of weather would only work on wifi.
Assuming you're still running stock (non-rooted) I'd get in touch with HTC and don't let them fob you off.
I've had it a few times. I was told in another thread it's a bug with the weather servers, and we'll just have to wait until it's fixed.

[Q] Stock clock weather widget wrong location

HI. I have bought Samsung Galaxy S3 a month ago and everything goes really nice. But yesterday i realized that the stock weather widget that it has it gives me wrong location. I tried everything to fix this but nothing worked. The truth is that I like it very much and i do not want to replace it with something else. Is there a way to fix it???
P.S. My gps works really fast and it shows me my current location without any problem.

Wrong location by how far? It could be that's it's getting the closest possible results.
You can always try to enter your location manually.

I live in Peristeri that is a suburb of Athens. All the other days was showing me the correct location which is Peristeri but now it showing me Athens. Let's say is about three or five kilometers the one location to the other. To test it I went to my village yesterday and it happen again. It shows me only the big cities now and not the small ones that it used to.
I checked Accuweather to see if there is a problem with their site that I believe this is where the widget gets the locations but I didn’t find something there.. (I think this is silly to do that!!!!)

a 3-5 kms difference will give the same weather, if it was a 20-50 kms difference, then maybe it would matter but unless you get the wrong weather, I'm not sure what the problem is.
When it updates, it will take the closest reading. So if at that time, you're closer to Athens, then that's what it will show until it updates in Peristeri. If you don't want that to happen, just set your location manually (in weather settings) to Peristeri and it will never change.

I had the same problem, except the distance to the wrong location for me was more like 30 miles! I even tried setting it manually, tried setting it with my GPS [which showed me in the proper place] etc. all with no luck!
My solution, switched weather apps ... I use 1Weather and works fine!
Odd. I live in a township that's only 9 people and it finds it in AccuWeather

After rooting my phone and installed new custom rom and roll over to stock it works fine and it shows me the smalles village. Maybe because I cleat the chache with custom recovery. Now I am in full stock and the widget works fine

Smart Notice Widget Weather

Hey guys.
Has anyone managed to get the weather to show in the smart notice widget without turning on GPS/Location services. I have added my local city but it refuses to show the weather. It has only shown when I turned GPS on. Is there anyway to get it working without using GPS as I want to save my battery. On the G2 this method worked fine with the weather widget.

I am facing the same problem have you found any solution
Why not use GPS? The battery use from is negligible. I don't even notice a difference. Use the phone how it was meant to be used.

Well... GPS doesn't work either. I wonder if someone can *copy* the deoxed version of this weather app so we can replace in the Korean version.
If possible also the dialer
