I downloaded fake gps on my a100 and set myself to monaco for a laugh....
big oops that was, now i can't get back home...
When I connect to mobile 3g or anyother wifi, the gps is fine, but at home on my hub, it allways sets me to monaco.... (wish i did live there!!!!)
I've deleted fake gps, and reset my hub.. nothing works. It must be linked to my wifi at home but how can I get it working again......
Thanks in advance....
Try this: go to settings > developer options > uncheck allow mock locations.
Sent from my A100 using Tapatalk 2
Done that. Even done a reset agps state.... nothing.... only reports wrong GPS state when at home..... annoying more than anything
On the market it says to disable the use wireless networks option in loction settings to avoid the issue you are having. Have you tried that?
Sent from my A100 using Tapatalk 2
Tried that, no joy. (or very very slow). Fake GPS obviously set something somewhere that needs to be reset. Grrrrrrr. Wifi GPS all ways worked fine before.... not a major problem this, just a tad annoying ....
Are you rooted? You could try deleting the files in data/GPS/...make a backup first of course

I am rooted. Cleared out /data/GPS and made no difference... still in Monaco.. ermmmm weird..

Try an app called faster fix, and reset your GPS pool it may trigger a re center on your location.
Tapatalked from my Galaxy S II.
Downloaded and run. Selected UK and hit go. Message at bottom says failure, please try again'
Try deleting your home wifi, rebooting, and re- adding your home wifi. It has to be something associated with your home wifi, since it works OK everywhere else. If that don't work, email the app dev.
Sent from my A100 using Tapatalk 2
I looked at the app in play store to get email address and noticed they have now put a warning on the description to make sure you disable use wifi for GPS before running to avoid problems.
Grrrrrr if only they had put that before I'd run it... others beware.
I have emailed them and will post reply.
Cheers anyway all.
Got it sorted. Original dev of app didn't help at all, just said look in forums....idiot.
I reset router, turned off wifi GPS and left tablet for 2 hours getting a GPS signal. I then turned on wifi and it worked..... oh well... cheers for help
Could somebody give me a link to or send me the GPS directory files. I will try deleting mine and copy the working once.
My GPS is still dead...not even a single sat after hours. I have tried the patch No2 now I am going to try the No1 Patch.
Hey filking - I had the same trouble as you with fake GPS and I've tried all the recommended steps you mentioned but to no avail.
Do you mind listing them out step by step what you did so I can make sure I'm doing the right fix?
Many thanks

This has been going on for some time now. I cannot actually pinpoint when it happened. But whenever I am at work, I can connect to the network and it's grayed out. I can still browse and use some app but I don't get notifications from my apps and cannot use Google Talk, for example. That entire app is grayed out.
It's an 802.1x EAP - PEAP - MSCHAPV2.
Anyone got any ideas or tricks to fix this? It used to work before and it doesn't. I do not believe anything changed on our end. And I also cannot just restart the router at work. Thanks in advance.

Can you access gmail directly? Sounds like google services may be blocked by your network admin? Just a guess...
Im trying to understand what exactly is happening with you.
Are you getting a wifi signal and no notifications?
or are you not getting any wifi signal at all?
If you are getting a connection but notifications and google apps dont work, it could be that your work router those ports blocked or has a firewall infront of it.
If you are not getting any wifi signal at all, I would try and backup everything, and do a factory rest - update. basically a stock, unrooted wipe and reflash.
Don't know why our how to fix it. But I know that if your wifi is gray you still have data connection. And if it's blue your connected to Google services as well
Jellin' like a felon
Okay, thanks guys. The ports may be blocked. I get WiFi connection, but the indicator is grayed out. When that is so, I can still go into an app and use it with manual refreshes but I never get notifications automatically like I'm supposed to. They only start to pop in one I leave with and get back in the cellular network. And for an app like gtalk, I cannot use whatsoever as I'm signed out.

This happened to me before and basically it was how my IT guy setup our WiFi network in our office. I couldn't use any Google push services on my phone (gmail, gtalk, calender, etc...). Every thing would work fine when I was on data connection, but would stop on WiFi. I just stopped using my work WiFi when I was in the office. It definitely had something to do with the firewall/privileges of the WiFi network.

port blocked..
google push notification and so gtalk need ports like 5222,5223,5228
usually in a work wifi only port 80 (http traffic) and 443 (httpS traffic) are open

Do you have wifi set to turn off when the display turns off?
I came across this thread because I'm having the same problem with my GS3, the only thing that solved it was installing a WiFi manager app from the market.
Factory reset plus downgrading from 4.2.2 to 4.2.0 was the only thing that worked for me.
FIX FOR GREY WIFI/MOBILE DATA, and google account sync
HI THERE, sorry im new to e forum, anyways im using a SGS 3LTE with custom rom CM 10.2 android 4.3, CWM touch recovery. So many people are not able to connect to the play store and services over wifi, but only over mobile data. Another issue is that the cellular data and wifi tend to remain grey, unlike that of android 4.0 and back which remains blue. So to solve this heres what i did.
DID EVERY F**KING CRAP OUT THERE. DIDNT WORK.
What i did: use a file manager with root access, look for 'hosts' file in systempath 'system/etc/' and deleted it. So far so good, its permanently blue for both wifi and cellular data, and also i am able to access google apps and store without a hitch.
DO SHARE WITH ME UR FINDINGS/RESULTS AND SPREAD THE LOVE PEOPLE
On a side note: i used to flash and modify small roms for my old htc hd2, but the above fix was heard from a website from god knows where LOL, im singaporean, i speak singlish, and im proud of it so im not gonna apologise for the broken english
In case this helps anyone, the way I solved it at home with my Galaxy Nexus is by changing the setting of the router to Wireless G or N only. I have two routers, so I set one on 802.11g and the other on 802.11n only. By default my DLinks came with mixed wireless protocols. The problem with this is that it seems to confuse devices. That's why they also used to take long to connect to Wifi in general. Since I've made them only one standard now, they connect very quickly. Also, because I had mixed B, G and N on my best router, I never got to really use N. Turns out I had my authentication on WEP, and the only way you're getting N is by using WEP2 with AES.
Fix is here
Hello There, I tried to reset phone, clearing chache,Data but it wont work but now
I have a quick solution on this issue and grey wifi becomes blue in some minutes.
All you need is "Rooted Phone"
1.Install : Root Explorer
2. Grant SuperSU permission to Root Explorer
3. Mount Root Explorer into Read/Write (R/W).
4. Go To System > etc > locate "HOSTS" file in etc folder.
5. Edit Hosts file using root explorer
6. Insert the symbol # before the second set of IP address numbers then save the changes and exit.
7. Reboot your phone...
8. wifi icon will be blue as you start your phone back and some apps like Google play store, keep, etc will be start as normal.
Thanks.

Hi,
I have problem with WiFi connection. 2 days ago, everything worked perfectly, now when I bring closer my phone to router's antena, I get full signal strength. When I'm on 3 meter distance from router, I get half of it, and from another room I don't get signal at all... Other devices can connect to WiFi normally.
I have already done all tricks found on google, but still without success. I have tried turning off wifi powered save mode, setting 'no background processes', setting up dynamic routing... Any other workarounds, suggestions? Does factory reset resolve this issue completely?
Thanks in advance!
Install the wifi fixer app.
Just a question, what kind of router is it? Brand/model.
Also unplug your router and modem for about 30 sec. Then plug back in and try again.
Have you flashed any roms or mods, installed any apps in the last few days?

Hi,
Thank you all for replies. There is nothing flashed, everything was working just fine last week. I have already tried by unpluging router and modem but still without success. Also for informations, I have done 'factory reset' but problem remains same.
Are you rooted? Custom rom?
If you have made a nandroid, make a new one and restore back to the original. If it doesn't help just restore the newest again.
Go into Settings > More Settings. Make sure everything is off. (Wifi calling, wifi direct...) try different combos of settings.
Did you check if your router has any fw updates avail? Try changing one or two things in the router setup like password and ssid.
Do you get a normal, good connection on other networks? Like at work or the bookstore?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I'm assuming you have admin rights on the router, log onto it through a browser and check the settings. There's all kinds of things that can get screwy.
I had the same problem. I turned on airplane mode. Them turned off airplane mode and the WiFi connected again. Again this worked for me.

Does anyone else have there phone continuously scanning wifi, once every 5 seconds or so, even when connected? Just go into wifi settings and see if it is scanning often. Additionally i get a lot of "Connected to abc network" messages in other applications when i thought my connection was established already long ago. And often find that even though im connected it is not passing data. I get ping times in the 200 + range to yahoo.com when a computer on the same network gets 50ms ping times. The wifi is the only issue i have with the phone, but my old S3 did not act this way and i want to know what everyone else is seeing, so i can send it back or get it fixed.
Thank you!

How would fixing permissions, fix wifi scanning?
Couldn't tell you it just did. Resetting my phone and router didn't do it.
One solid day after fixing permissions seems to have fixed it Lol. Did you happen to flash some morphology? Just asking

Another option would be to set up profiles. And disable wifi all together in the profile you use when your out and about. And enable it in the profile you use at home with your wifi. And then just switch between the profiles.

So this has happened to me at home and work but it's not consistent. Some times when I try to connect I get a message on the WiFi connect that says "Network disabled because Internet connection is slow" (see picture). Any idea what criteria is used to determine this, and is there a way to over ride it?
I'm at work right now and I just got kicked out wifi due to too slow lol.. but at home I have not got it yet.. maybe too much people at work using the wifi network. .
I setup my home network to have separated name (SSID) for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Network.
When I connect to the 2.4Ghz channel, no problem.
At the same distance, like 6 inches away from the router, when I connect to the 5Ghz channel, my 2 Galaxy Note 3 shows the same "network too slow" error and it will drop the connection.
This is one of the many reasons I returned my GSN 3
I also experienced another WiFi error.
At work, I can connect to the WiFi network with the WPA password provided, on my HTC One with no issue whatsoever.
When I tried to connect to the same network using the Note 3, it keeps telling me I have to "sign-in", when I click on the browser to "sign-in" (like those Free WiFi you can get at the hotel), there is no sign in page (because there is none) and brings me right to Google.com.
After that, the connection will last for 30 seconds or so and drop off.
The one I got initially and the replacement, both have the same issue, and I did inform T Mobile before I return them back.
4.3 problem? Samsung's problem? I don't know... All I know is I will wait until they resolve all these before I will reconsider getting this phone.
I spoke to them on same issue. Got new phone and they working on updating the WiFi drivers.

So far yes. Not a 100% sure though because the problem was not consistent. Sometimes it would connect sometime give the message. So, I'll keep you posted if it comes back.
Not trying to say your post isn't serious enough but we all who are having this problem on a consistent basis need to make a thread about this and just not take anything for an answer, but to give people somewhere to complain about this & hopefully bring more attention to this because there is nothing that is fixing this issue. The only thing that will fix this is Samsung or a Dev on a custom ROM hopefully. If you uncheck the options in advanced settings, it just stops the pop up from coming up telling you the connection is to slow & dropping you, after unchecked it dont drop you but while still showing you a full connection it will not do anything data wise, connect to the internet, switch to a different site, no facebook, no twitter, no market etc..... Nothing, you dont get dropped you just cant do anything. I hope my anger dont make anyone think Im arguing with anyone in here and their opinions, we all have this problem and are trying to help eachother, im just poitning out that those who are thinking this is fixing things its not, its just stopping the pop up. I am very frustrated this is happening on a brand new phone i waited this long for and paid as much as i did for. There should be a freaking petition started for this cause its just wrong.
Works fine for me my wifi never disconnects now after unchecking auto network switch and always scanning... Idk what to tell you guys that are still having the issue because I had the same issue when I first got the phone too...
Maybe try forgetting the network then reconnect after unchecking those settings and reboot...

I posted this in a different forum also but figured id post it here to. I just got off the phone with Samsung & they told me its not a major reported problem, wtf, lol? Everyone i know who owns this phone has this problem with it sayin internet connection to slow and booting them off, even with full signal. Im on my 2nd phone now & have the same problem. They tried telling me to go in to the wifi call settings & turn off wifi calling preferred, & i said why? Even though it's checked I have it off. I said seriously? what is that going to do for a wifi signal problem, lol. It's not my wifi calling it's my full wifi signal. I can tell this is going to be a huge problem & im returning my phone, 3rd time now, for a new one today, if i get the same problem, almost positive i will, im sadly going to have to return this phone & just get a refund instead. & that would really suck. Maybe i'll try a black one, but im sure it probably happens on that one to, lol.
I have been having this problem also. Turning off "Auto network switch" in the advanced network settings allows the phone to hold on to the connection, but it is completely unstable. I tested the connection using iPerf and it was all over the place. I can post screenshots when I get home later if it helps anyone. Samsung definitely needs to step in here.

I have tried that already - tried WPA2 TKIP and AES. Don't really want to lower my security any further.
Fortunately I'm not here very often, and I get 4G data with my 8GB allowance, so can always use mobile data.
Did you remove or freeze any of the LG bloatware? Stuff like Wfd services control the Wi-FI.
I also had this problem and I had to do a factory reset to fix it.

Need Help Still
I have been unable to connect to some Wi-Fi networks. At my work I cannot get the phone to connect to hardly anything on Wi-Fi unless I go to the other side of the building. Then sometimes it does connect and work fine for a while then all of a sudden it starts acting like it's not connected even though it shows connected and I have to reboot the phone or turn off Wi-Fi to access anything. Then after the reboot it won't connect again. It works fine at home and in other parts of my office, but not at my desk. All my other devices (laptops tablets and old phone) were able to connect here just fine. Any Ideas?

Hello,
you must edit /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf with wifi enabled. If you try this with wifi disabled, old (wrong) configuration file is restored from unknown location backup file.
I had a same problem and all passwords in config file was right. I thing that problem was in first network block. There missed SSID and PSK="NONE" while KEY_MGMT=WPA-PSK in this block.
I replace whole config file from /system/etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf.

Ive had a few problems with wifi between different networks at work and when i updated my phone it solved the proble . I thought it was just the updat . When i had to do a hard reset for a different unrelated problem i got the problem back. However, when i went from Dalvik to ART it fixed the problem. Im figuring that something in the updating process sorts the wifi settings out and obviously its not limited to a software update but also includes optimization.
Deleting /data/misc/wifi/ wpa_supplicant.conf and p2p_supplicant.com solved the issue for me. hope this helps.
I'm a bit lost...

I looked at the wifi configurations in /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicants.conf
I found that the network I couldn't connect to was stored in there, but with the wrong password. I edited the file with the correct password, and all is good now!
