According to my research (read: Wiki-wandering), the Incredible has an Adreno 200 GPU. I'm curious as to the existence of a hardware-accelerated driver and matching libgl.so (not sure if a special libgl is necessary, but I know that nVidia and ATI do it for their proprietary drivers on Linux), and if it doesn't exist, where would be a good place to start learning about how to write it myself. Any help would be appreciated.
I could be mistaken here, but since the Adreno 200 is also in the HTC Nexus One, wouldn't using those drivers be sufficient?

Yes, same GPU. Don't know if those drivers will work or not, however. Worth a shot.
This would be great

thats a nice little lappie.
i have a asus eepc hope that android becomes available when its out
all this tech keeps me wondering where we would be in 10 years
I think Qualcomm have finally realised that their pricing structure was not helping them out. By charging extra for decent drivers they were hurting their own image since it was causing fragmentation. The Hummingbird and A4 GPU kills the snapdragon as it is, although the CPU isnt any better really.
Hopefully this will see Android getting much better games and movie playback and encoding.

hopefully now we can get decent 720p playback
I don't know how this will affect our phones, but let me tell you this.My laptop has an ATI 4670HD GPU.I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it (don't like windows) and then installed ATI's current drivers, version 9.8 I think.Compiz benchmark(it's a tool that monitors how many FPS your GPU gives at each time) gave me an average of 80FPS.Now,after some 9 months or so,I have Ubuntu 10.04 and ATI's 10.6 driver. The same test now gives an average of 240 FPS(and at this I might be a little conservative).
I know it's completely off-topic.I just posted to let you know what good drivers can do.
After installing RSD Lite. I could see S Flash OMAP3630 after I plugin the defy via usb while the phone is on bootloader (Power+VolUp)
Does it mean the the defy has a OMAP3630 and not a 3610?
Yes, a lot of people says "that is an error!! DONT CARE!"
A loot of people says, no, other says yes, and motorola don't care about it...
But in my opinion have a 3630 ( not sure ).
I think thats what the driver say it is...
The only way to find out will be to install a 3610 driver specifically and try if PC recognizes this. Doesnt it make sense?
why motorola make a 3630 driver for a 3610 CPu?
no logic...

its an unified driver for the hole range of 36xx cpu's.
and in the other thread its come to the point it's a 3615 cpu with 3D but without 720p encoding/decoding ...

i know this thread (i contributed some posts myself) but when its a 3615 w 3d and w/o hd en/decoding, how come that it plays 720p content in mp4/h.264 like a charm?

i think, we can't be shure until it the defy gets shred to pieces by ifixit or some other daredevil

Yes it's possible, but if the bit rate goes up 4mb/s, you can't play it.. why?
easy, the band width isn't sufficient, and phone overloads.
I thing a bitrate of 30000kbps it's ok, nothing more....

the processor of defy is a Texas Instruments OMAP3630 because it included a POWERVR SGX graphics 530. POWERVR is recognized by Quadrant.

That's physically impossible!
Only 3630/3622 come with the package required for POP (stacked memory chip). If it is 361x, where is the memory chip? It's very hard to miss shuch a huge chip.

No, that's an outdated presentation. In the latest (Nov. 2010) Technical Reference Manual, ALL 36xx variants have identical full speed GPUs.
So where can we find the Windows 7 drivers for this so I can get RSDLite working?
At the moment getting a msg indicating drivers are not installed??
Edit: used winxp machine. S/W issue at my end.
hi, i want do something on AM3703, it's same with omap 3630? thanks in advance!
I hope so ,but ,I don't believe it has the opma3630.may be there is an error on the software. If defy's cpu is 3630,it can be more attracktive!so,why moto didn't tell us it's cpu is 3630?
Believe what u want...it works...and it works great
Thats all that matters
When the Defy+ comes out, just benchmark it...surely a 3610 + kyro will be slightly less powerful than a 3630

Same reason they used when they said it didn't have ANY Graphic Chip and the same one when they said the phone only had a 2 point Multitouch Screen.
I believe they limited the device softwarewise in order to strategise the launch of its successor Defy+ .
Why just not compare performance with phones for which we know they have 3630 for sure and then we will know

Sounds like either moto has a plan and lied, or their spokes person havent a clue.
I vote for the latter...
i think defy's cpu is 3630.so defy+ update cpu to 3630 is a joke.
Okay, i have some questions...
1- If the cpu on the defy is the same on Droid 2 ( omap 3630 with VR530GPU ) if you see the Drivers on Droid 2 and put in to Defy, the device will start truth?
i mean, to know finally what cpu type use our phone.
If the Droid 2 drivers don't work, That means it is not the same processor right?
It may be that the driver of motorola droid defy and 2 are identical? there is any way to confirm that?
Thanks for the posible answers.

I think it's different from a PC. There is no seperate CPU, it's a system on a chip, no?
Parts of it can be disabled, and the Defy seems to have the HD movie part disabled. Maybe you could unlock this if it's actually working, like with graphics cards.

Of course, it's sistem on a chip.
But if Defy have a Cortex A8 ( omap 3630-SGX530 ) it's the same as Droid 2 right?
I think, the Defy have the same SOC as Droid2, my friend have one too, and benches, reproduces video like the Defy.

Re: QSD 8250, Adreno 200 hardware-related proprietary ...
In order to provide enthusiasts with recent improvements made to Snapdragon's Adreno graphics drivers, Qualcomm has made the updated Adreno 2xx graphics driver binaries available here. Note that you will most likely need to be a developer to take advantage of these new drivers since they'll require integration with the CAF release of ICS, but Qualcomm is providing these driver binaries "as is" to those of you who have requested them.

Let's be optimistic!

Just gave it a try with latest dk_zero_cool-rom. Took the files from the package and pushed them to the appropriate places. System came up, but running chrome seems more buggy than with the old version. There seem to be lots of locking and out-of-memory exceptions. will give tiamats latest kernel a try now...
Update: no luck with Tiamat_Bravo-v031412 as well. I've attached a logcat if anyone is interested in looking at this
I suspect that just pushing the files directly might be buggy, people will probably find that with roms will need to be recompiled against these binaries to get the most out of them. Could well be wrong mind you but certainly think wuld be the most logical step
I'm not sure if a simple recompile will help. These are all dynamic modules, as far as I understand this it shouldn't make much difference. especially since the package doesn't contain any headers but just the libs and some firmware.
I'm pretty sure atleast kernel has to be "reworked" for new drivers.
I wouldn't bet one euro on that! Legendary Qualcomm

While this is better than nothing, let's first give the talented devs at XDA a crack at this before passing judgment. Hopefully once they work their magic, we can get a more polished product in a shorter timeframe.
I'll be impressed if ICS can be implemented on the desire as well as gingerbread was. Let's not forget that the desire launched with Android 2.1 (maybe even 2.0 in some areas?) if I'm not mistaken.
Well I be damned...

From its market page - "S-OFF is also required on HTC devices"
So, at the moment, it wont work.
At least some of the features should work for us when we get S-OFF though
