[Q] Desire not wake up - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to get me some custom ROMS, but it finished badly.
Now I did it
I rooted desire with Unrevoked. It went without problems, this means no errors or something visible, Desire worked after that without problem.
Then I created CD for AlphaRev 1.5, rebooted PC and started process to get S-OFF.
I needed to confirm SuperUser on Desire. Unfortunatelly, it said after step 3, that procedure didn't finish correctly. My HTC stuck on HTC logo screen, and it throws 2 black lines on it. Pulled out battery and everything, but it doesn't help.
Now I can get to Recovery mode with power+down buttons, but what to do now. It doesn't reboot at all.
I have correct RUU exe file for my HTC, but when I start it, it doesn't recognise Desire. Please, any help what to do?
Regards,
Sandi

Extract the rom.zip from the ruu and rename it to PB99IMG.zip, then place to the root of the sd card (use a card reader or another phone), load bootloader and wait for it to flash.

Sorry for ma stupidity, but how can I do that? Thank you,
Sandi

When you open the ruu via Windows (only to the Welcome screen), go to Start > Run and type in %Temp%, hit enter. You should then see a rom.zip file, extract from here and rename it to PB99IMG.zip (not PB99IMG.zip.zip) and place it to the root of your sd card. Then power off your phone and load bootloader (hold down vol down key and press power button once). When in bootloader screen, take your finger off the vol down button and wait for it to flash.

Thank you, got it. This ZIP file cannot be opened in Windows Explorer? As it says it is not a valid file.
Just in case, before I do more damage as I did.

Sandi

You don't open the zip file, just copy it to your Desktop, for instance, and then rename it to PB99IMG.zip. After renaming it, place it to the root of the SD card, unmount the sd card and then turn off your phone. Turn it back on with the vol down button held until you enter bootloader and then sit back and watch it do its thing.

Thank you a lot, today I did what you told me:
- Unrevoked with AmonRa
- extract ZIP from RUU
- copied ZIP to SD as PB99IMG.ZIP
and it went back to normal.
Best regards,
Sandi

Did I just fudge up rooting my GF's phone.

I rooted mines and followed the steps for full root on a mac. I went to root her today and pushed that PC36IMG file to her phone and forgot that instead of pushing the first one I was supposed to push I pushed the second PC36IMG file.
I can't flash the first PC36IMG file because I'm guessing the second modified PC36IMG file is a newer version. How do I manually reverse this process. If I hold the down volume and power I can get into that screen but when I press recovery it shows me a phone with a RED triangle with an exclamation point.
How can I start over again?
I even deleted the files from the Tools folder to see if I can start over again.

Thats your recovery. Have the ClockworkMod recovery update.zip in the root of your sd card, reboot into recovery where you got that red triangle, hold Volume up and press power. Select apply sdcard:update.zip and you will have a good recovery. Wipe and flash the right PC36IMG this time
Where do I get that Clockwork zip?
Here ya go.
download this file, rename it to "update.zip," and copy it to the root of your SD card just like we did with the PC36IMG zip before. A common problem that people have here is actually typing the last ".zip" in when naming the file. ONLY type "update" as the file name because the file you are downloading is already in .zip format, and Windows hides known file extensions. If you get any kind of "file cannot be found" or "verification error" on this step, then you probably made this mistake, and you just need to rename the file.
Please note: This is the ONLY file on your SD card to be named "update.zip." Do NOT rename any other files to "update.zip" or remove this file.

Thanks dude I'll try when I get home.
I just followed those instructions and I'm still getting that red triangle.

Your supposed to see the RED TRIANGLE!! Hold down Volume Up and Power and then install from SD card
That doesn't work. I'm unable to install that PC36IMG. It scans but doesn't give me option to flash. If I hold volume up and power I can't navigate through the SD and manually choose the file.
when youre in the screen with the ! open a command
type:
Code:
adb shell
echo /dev/block/mmcblk0 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file
to mount
unmount
Code:
echo "" > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file
don't do adb push, just put the file on the root of the sd card, then power the phone on with vol down+power
I had the same thing happen to me where I pushed the same one again, all i did was load up the nandroid backup from the first time i flash the first one
I fixed it. I didn't go to bed last night until like 3 because I hate having unfinished things on my mind. I have a quick question though. If I root my friends Evo's do I have to remove those files from the /Tools folder every time? Will this affect other stuff I may do with my Evo when I have to hook it up to Terminal to run commands? (Wireless N hack)
just flash back to stock
flash back to the stock ruu then dont do the sprint upgrade and start from scratch using neckfaces root method. its fast and simple

[Q] Problem after last Update OTA

Hello all,
I have an unbranded desire (GSM), rooted with the latest unrevoked, and an official ROM.Today I have received a new update OTA… something with Android Market in size of 28.87 MB. I’ve tried to install but I have not succeeded. For more info about my phone see the attached pictures.
Now the details: I saw that the update was not working , so I decided to “force “ the install process using the install update.zip from clockwork mode (2.5.0.7) and toggle signature option (it was a message about some signature error). Everything looked fine, all the process and then a message tells me to restart. Since then a loop started: white screen with green letters for HTC logo and after that a restart. And again, and again…
I have a backup on sd card. But when I try to access, the recovery menu shows me a dark screen with a phone and a red triangle with “!” sign in it. I have also the official RUU but my computer refuses now to see my phone despite of a very good link between them. Two days ago I have installed the official RUU and the connection was ok. Maybe it is because my phone is not loading all of the starting process.
Help me please with some ideas, advices. Thank you.
You can't apply an OTA to a rooted Desire without issues - how many more poeple are going to do this before reading threads and realising this!!!
You'll have to hard reset and if that doesn't work flash a stock RUU and root again
PLease tell me how to hard reset or how to flash a stock RUU. please remember i can't connect to the computer because it's not loading all the starting process
You can either:
1. Download the 2.29.405.2 RUU from shipped-roms.com and flash it via FASTBOOT
or
2. Download the 2.29.405.2 PB99IMG from shipped-roms.com and flash it via HBOOT after renaming it PB99IMG.zip instead of the long file name I used, copying it to the root of your SD card and booting into HBOOT and following the instructions
Thank you very much for your quick answer.
But please be more specific
1. How to flash it via FASTBOOT?
2.Please give me step by step instructions on how to boot the zip file.
Sorry for being annoying. And sorry for my english
For RUU:
1. Download RUU from this link
http://www.multiupload.com/UOWLL86GVB
2. Turn off your phone
3. Turn it on again whilst holding the back button
4. Once the white screen with the 3 Androids at the bottom says FASTBOOT connect to PC with USB cable and it will change to say FASTBOOT USB
5. Run the RUU
6. All being good you'll be on stock 2.29.405.2
To flash the PB99IMG.zip:
1. Download the ZIP file from here:
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.zip
2. Turn off phone
3. Remove SD card from phone and connect to PC using a card reader and a micro to normal adapter
4. Rename the ZIP file to PB99IMG.zip (not PB99IMG.zip.zip) and copy it to the root of your SD card (root = not in any folders)
5. Put SD card back in your phone
6. Turn it on whilst holding volume down
7. Follow instructions on the phone
8. Once done you should be on stock 2.29.405.2
BOTH OF THESE WILL NEED YOUR GOLD CARD TO COMPLETE
thanks. Starting now...
JOB DONE... SMOOTHLY
You do it by RUU OR PB99IMG btw - NOT both
JOB DONE SMOOTHLY. Thanks a lot.
No probs, keep the RUU or PB99IMG to hand in case you need them in future

[Q] Unrooting my phone. About to give up. Please help.

I followed the 2 step guide posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141
When trying to load the unrevoked-forever-son.zip, I get this error:
E: unsupported radio version
E: Update failed. Check /sdcard/soff.log.
E: Error in /sdcard/unrevoked (status 42)
When i went to research on how to downgrade the radio version, I find out that newer versions don't let you downgrade.
I'm not even sure what my friend used to unroot my phone. unrevoked or revolutionary?
Here are my stats:
Supersonic EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.17.0001
MICROP-041f
RADIO-2.15.00.05.02
Please please help. I'm about to give up and cough up the $100 for a new phone as my screen is completely broken. What do I need to do to get this phone unrooted?
Unrevoked s-on is not for your phone. Look for the "how to unroot revolutionary root" its the one with alot of? ?????? In the title. Use the search or Google it

Hello,
I am in the same boat. I recently purchased a EVO4G from a friend. The phone was rooted and I would like it to be unrooted. I've tried to unroot myself but it hasn't work. There was a pretty good guide here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141 that I tried to follow. Unfortunately, I could not get the UnRevoked S ON Tool to work and I ran the PC36IMG.zip file. I seem to be stuck in a loop and I cannot get past the HBOOT screen. Also, when I go to Recovery, I get a Red Triangle with an exclamation point.
The information on the phone is as follows:
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.79.000
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL226_16ab
RADIO-1.39.00.04.26

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Should I run the file from the link above?

2. Rename to PC36IMG.zip
3. Place in root of SD Card (Make sure this is the ONLY PC36IMG.zip file on your SD card)
4. Boot into HBOOT (press & hold the volume down button while pressing the power button)
5. Once in Hboot highlight and select the "Bootloader" option. Allow bootloader to detect the PC36IMG.zip
6. apply the update by pressing the up volume button when prompted. (will take several minutes for update to apply)
7. Check your Hboot to make sure you have S-on. If not, then **CLICK HERE** and follow Captain Throwback's method for getting S-on.
8. Enjoy newly unrooted phone
Zip file will replace EVERYTHING. Stock splash screen, boot animation, up to date OTA release, recovery, S-ON, and HBOOT.
I used this method last night when unrooting my phone because I thought I would have to take my phone into Sprint today. However, running this zip happened to resolve the issue I was having so I turned around and rooted again.
I would give credit to whomever it was I saw this unroot process from but unfortunately it was late and I was sleep deprived so I do not remember. Either way, I do not take credit for it whatsoever. If I come across the one who suggested it I will edit this post and give the credit that user is due.

First let me apologize for being a noob.
I used the RUU method for unrooting my phone. Phone shows S-ON. But HBOOT still shows 6.17.0001. I'm sending the phone back to Sprint for a replacement b/c the charging port is loose.
Can I still use this method to get HBOOT back to factory settings?

OK, I figured out that, for some reason, the MBP was not reading the file as a .zip so I actually zipped it, loaded it onto the SD card and went into Bootloader. It found the file as a bar on the right side of the phone displayed and began to fill up. During this process, the following was on the screen:
Loading
PC36DIAG.ZIP
No Image
Loading
PC36DIAG.nbh
No image
Then after the blue bar fills the screen changes for a second and it says Parsing
Then it goes back to the Fastboot screen.
Any ideas?
Also, someone that unroots phones told me the issue I am having is called a "Soft Brick". Can anyone help?!
Thanks

What you are seeing are not the files you are trying to flash. You are trying to flash a PC36IMG.zip file, not a PC36DIAG file. You said you zipped the file on your own. You have to make sure that when it is zipped it is done so as a storage file and not with any type of compression. If you compress the file when it zips then it will not flash. So remove the zip file from your sd card, rezip it using ONLY storage method, recopy it to your SD card and then try to flash it. Make sure it is named PC36IMG.zip EXACTLY as I have written it. Also, make sure there are no other PC36IMG.zip files on your SD card at all. Otherwise you can cause problems.

Using that method will send you COMPLETELY back to stock. That method modifies your splash screen, boot animation, operating system, hboot version, radio update, and a few other things. When you flash that file you will be 100% stock, unrooted, and up to date.

The red triangle means that you do not have a recovery installed on your phone. If you can get into HBoot then use the method I posted above with the PC36IMG.zip file. That will take care of everything for you in one simple and painless step (including the red triangle).

Thank you for the help and now pardon my ignorance. What do you mean by zipping using a storage method? Is this normally an option in zip programs? Right now I only have the zip program that comes with OSX and The Unarchiver but I believe that is only for unzipping. Do you have any suggestions? EDIT: I found a program called Keka. Under the options, I picked "Store". I ran the zip, transferred the file to the memory card and the phone did not recognize the file. I even tried to download the file again from the post above and rezipped it using "Store", transferred it and tried again...same result. I am stuck.
In the past, I've tried to rename the file PCIMG36.zip without zipping it and the phone could not find the file.
Thanks

[Q] Incredible not booting into Recovery

Hey guys,
I've been running CM7 on my phone for a quite some time now, but now all of a sudden all my apps force close when opened. I tried a week a go to enter recovery (before the force closes) both manually and from RM with no luck. I can enter bootloader manually but when I choose recovery it just gives me the white HTC Incredible page and sits there with taking the battery out as the only option.
Any suggestions on what the problem is?
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried flashing recovery again?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
does that require RM? Because I can't open it as it FC's on me everytime...
Ok so from bootloader i tried a factory reset, and the same HTC Incredible splash screen. I think the problem is something to with the flashing, because when i start bootloader it says something about some .zip file not having an image. (sorry about sounding like a noob).

Flash recovery thru hboot (vol down plus power while phone is off) as a PB31IMG.zip, RM is not needed. You can get the recovery here http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=28. Download the PB31IMG.zip file and place it on your sd card in no folders. Boot into hboot, it will find the file and prompt to press vol up to apply. Then vol up to reboot. Then boot into hboot and select recovery.
In recovery, wipe everything in mounts and storage and also dalvik cache, and then flash the rom of your choice or restore a known working nandroid.
Thank You! I really appreciate it.
Saved me from throwing my phone at a wall
I downloaded the file, renamed to PB311MG.zip, moved to root of SD card (no folders) and when I boot into hboot, it does not recognize the file. Im just stuck @ bootloader, when I try to boot into recovery, HTC Incredible pops up for a second, and I'm right back where I was. Any clues?

That is an incorrect label. It must be: PB31IMG.zip
The number "31" is followed by the letter "I" in the .zip file name. Also, have you revealed file extensions with your preferred file explorer? You must avoid labeling the file "PB31IMG.zip.zip"

2 things....That was a typo on my end....it was a 31IMG, not 311MG, and my mistake was adding the .zip. I was able to get into recovery, did my wipes, and am restoring a back up as I write this. Thanks for the help.

Question important plz

my phone was bricked giving vibrations with volume + power buttons after a failed try of updating RUU via computer.
then i give phone to a person, he repaired the phone somehow, now when i press the power button, a while screen with htc logo appears, and if i press volume down + power, it goes to HBOOT with following information given
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.90000
MICROP-0451
RADIO-7.46.35.08
it also gives the option "SIMLOCK, FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, CLEAR STORAGE"
plz help me how can i get it to working condition again.
the person who repaired its boot said he is unable to flash it.. i don't understand what it means.. so i came to xda for solution
Is it possible to update via RUU with S-ON?
RUU says the phone is not connected to PC when i try to update it. it is detected in device manager as Android 1.0 when in Hboot
you should be able to get it going again as long as you have an sd card and some patience
ok first off follow this guide https://sites.google.com/site/androidbyyorzua/home/tutorials/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-ruu
ok now that you have your rom.zip rename it to PG76IMG.zip
then place it onto the root of your sd card. (the root of the sd card is the first screen you come to when you access the sd card on the computer/phone ect ect ect.)
then boot the phone with volume down + power.
the phone will find the pg76img.zip and and ask to update.
push volume up.
let it do its business and hopefully it will fix your phone.
bear in mind this implies that you have the correct ruu. and more importantly the correct cid. but if it wont update it the phone should give out an error code
good luck and post back

i tried this method.. i made a goldcard, put the file on its root directory..
when i power it on using volume down + power button, it goes to HBOOT menu and do not give any option to install the file..
is the hboot of the ruu lower than your current hboot? if so this wont work. and does the hboot even search the sdcard?
