Did I just fudge up rooting my GF's phone. - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted mines and followed the steps for full root on a mac. I went to root her today and pushed that PC36IMG file to her phone and forgot that instead of pushing the first one I was supposed to push I pushed the second PC36IMG file.
I can't flash the first PC36IMG file because I'm guessing the second modified PC36IMG file is a newer version. How do I manually reverse this process. If I hold the down volume and power I can get into that screen but when I press recovery it shows me a phone with a RED triangle with an exclamation point.
How can I start over again?
I even deleted the files from the Tools folder to see if I can start over again.

Thats your recovery. Have the ClockworkMod recovery update.zip in the root of your sd card, reboot into recovery where you got that red triangle, hold Volume up and press power. Select apply sdcard:update.zip and you will have a good recovery. Wipe and flash the right PC36IMG this time

Where do I get that Clockwork zip?

Here ya go.
download this file, rename it to "update.zip," and copy it to the root of your SD card just like we did with the PC36IMG zip before. A common problem that people have here is actually typing the last ".zip" in when naming the file. ONLY type "update" as the file name because the file you are downloading is already in .zip format, and Windows hides known file extensions. If you get any kind of "file cannot be found" or "verification error" on this step, then you probably made this mistake, and you just need to rename the file.
Please note: This is the ONLY file on your SD card to be named "update.zip." Do NOT rename any other files to "update.zip" or remove this file.

Thanks dude I'll try when I get home.

I just followed those instructions and I'm still getting that red triangle.

Your supposed to see the RED TRIANGLE!! Hold down Volume Up and Power and then install from SD card

That doesn't work. I'm unable to install that PC36IMG. It scans but doesn't give me option to flash. If I hold volume up and power I can't navigate through the SD and manually choose the file.

when youre in the screen with the ! open a command
type:
Code:
adb shell
echo /dev/block/mmcblk0 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file
to mount
unmount
Code:
echo "" > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file

don't do adb push, just put the file on the root of the sd card, then power the phone on with vol down+power

I had the same thing happen to me where I pushed the same one again, all i did was load up the nandroid backup from the first time i flash the first one

I fixed it. I didn't go to bed last night until like 3 because I hate having unfinished things on my mind. I have a quick question though. If I root my friends Evo's do I have to remove those files from the /Tools folder every time? Will this affect other stuff I may do with my Evo when I have to hook it up to Terminal to run commands? (Wireless N hack)

just flash back to stock
flash back to the stock ruu then dont do the sprint upgrade and start from scratch using neckfaces root method. its fast and simple

A few questions before first root attempt

Ok, going to follow the SimpleRoot OTA 1.47 how-to, but I have a few questions first.
How do I back up things like my Contacts?
What the latest "radio" and how do I check and get the newest?
How do I wipe caches? Or will the SimpleRoot guide tell me?
Any ROM recommendations? I was thinking of just trying Fresh.
Do I need to do any adb setup prior to starting?
I have been reading through the guides, but there is SO much info here, it takes too long to get through it all. Plus, I'm not even sure of all the questions I need to ask!
Thanks in advance for any and all help!
1. Use Titanium Backup. It will back up whatever you want, I backed up EVERYTHING (apps + system data) and it brought back all my settings, texts, even my scenes. I had to use Unrevoked on my 1.32.651.6 stock build to install TB, followed TheBiles "Idiot-Proof" guide for that part.
2. The radio is the baseband. I actually never flashed mine, and I haven't had issues, but I don't use 4g so I wouldn't know how that works. There are links to a few radios here, but otherwise check the thread or webpage for the custom ROM you want to flash and it might link to the recommended radio.
3. Wiping caches is done through recovery (Amon RA, Clockwork, or using ROM Manager from within a rooted ROM). You do it right before you flash the custom ROM. SimpleRoot will just root the phone, then you'll want to install ROM Manager and use that flash your preferred recovery (that's a whole separate debate).
4. I've been reading up a lot in the last day or two, and Fresh seems to be very popular. I'm using it right now, no problems so far! I've used DC, I had a couple of issues, CM6 is cool but still changing all the time. Go with Fresh at least to get your feet wet. Follow the guide that flipz provides in his Fresh thread.
5. I didn't use SimpleRoot, I rooted manually using ADB. If you're comfortable with using a terminal/command line (or at least typing and following directions) ADB might be a good idea. But if SR gives you a full-root, you don't need ADB at all. It's basically just a telnet connection to your phone.
Hey, whatdya know? I answered them all! There may be better answers, but I think this is all correct. PM me if you need more help, or I'll subscribe to this thread for a few days. I'm new but I'm learning fast and I LOVE this stuff!
Also, here's a good portal for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709267
Titanium backup works great for most things but you have to be rooted to use it. Your contacts should be backed up directly to your google account if you have done it correctly. When you add a contact to your phone it will ask if you want to add it to google or as a "phone" contact. Make sure you save it as a google contact. Or you can go to your google account on your computer and sync all your contacts. I used SimpleRoot to get my phone started and then I went through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715915
That is where I started with everything.....fully unlocked and stock rooted with the newest radio. I also used Amon recovery from SimpleRoot instead of Clockwork. SR will clear all your cache, factory data, etc. Im running Damage Control ROM right now and love it. But it's fun to get your phone rooted and then just start using root apps and go from there. Oh, and the best thing for me about using SR and then going through the next thread I posted is that you dont have to use ADB. ADB is pretty simple but the SR + thread process took me about 25min.
Yeah, on that note, it's super-easy to just make a Nandroid or Clockwork backup of your flash, then flash something else to try it out. If you want to go back, just restore the backup and you're right where you were before.
And, of course, backing up contacts on Google is easier.
Running through the SimpleRoot and it got to Starting Part 2... and it's just hanging out doing nothing, been that way for a few minutes now. I didn't copy the PC36IMG file to the SD card, was I supposed to?
Will it bork anything if I disconnect, switch back to Disk Drive as the connection type and drop the file on the SD card? Do I need to do that? Am I retarded?
Not sure as I went through toast's manual method, but it shouldn't do any damage to start over. If Android is still running, I think the system will still be intact.
Well, I think I figured it out, sort of. I never got prompted to reboot into the bootloader until I disconnected the phone. Once I did that, it told me what to do. But, when I installed the update, the bootloader gave me this message: Main version is older, update fail!
Do I need to use the PC36IMG file for 1.47 now? SimpleRoot did push the PC36IMG file to the phone, btw.

i had the same issue, you need to make sure all the steps are complete before you go into step 4 and boot into bootloader...so make sure after pushing the files you finish step 2 and 4...it worked for me...my pc kept hanging on some steps so i tried it on a different pc and it went throught perfectly the first time around.
Uhh, starting to get a little worried here. I deleted the PCIMG36.zip file per the "Starting Over..." thread, and copied the su-2.1 file on to the SD card. Rebooted into bootloader, selected Recovery per the instructions, now I have a red triangle with and exclamation point and an unresponsive phone!

you're fine that's just telling you that you're in recovery mode follow the steps....it should tell you to run a command in you're command prompt which will get you into recovery and then you backup nand, wipe, and load image from sd card
Ah, OK. I pulled the battery and it came back to life. Didn't see anything in that thread about commands, but I will read it again.
just boot your phone holding power and volume up button and then when you see the white screen go down to recovery and press the power button...now you should be in recovery mode from there just follow instructions. you should backup nand, wipe cache and wipe data, and install rom from sd card.
That's the problem, following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715915, I don't get any instructions for the recovery portion that match what I actually get on the phone. I don't get the different menu so I don't get a chance to flash from the su-2.1 file.
Arrrgh! Here's what I did:
Replaced the PCIMG36.zip file that was in the SimpleRootOTA folder that I downloaded with the PC36IMG-1.47.651.1_eng-hboot_RA-1.7.0.1.zip file (renamed to PCIMG36.zip)
Ran SimpleRootOTA, followed all instructions
When I got to the place in Step 4 where I was supposed to be prompted to install the update at the bootloader, it didn't happen. I assume that this was due to the fact that I had already applied that update
I unplugged, looked in the root of the SD card, found that the PCIMG36.zip file had not been pushed.
I copied the file on to the SD card, rebooted into the bootloader, let it scan the PCIMG36.zip file and apply the update, then rebooted.
So, that's where it sits now. I'm out of time and can't do anything more with it, so I just re-installed MyBackup and am restoring apps and data.
Any ideas as to what I should do next?
Hopefully you are just transposing numbers in your post? According to the thread you linked, the name of file should be PC36IMG.zip....you are writing PCIMG36.zip....those are very different.
edit...and if you are getting stuck at step 4...that sounds like what you did.

ok if you has updated without any errors and you're rooted...
1)turn off your phone power it back on holding the volume down button and power button at the same time
2)when you see the white screen with HBoot menu scroll down using volume down button, highlight recovery and press power button.
3)you should now see a different menu (black&green) you are now in recovery from here:
4)select backup nand it will ask you to confirm hit power button and wait till it backs up you're nand
5)go down to wipe data...highlight wipe data hit power, confirm
6)wipe cache...confirm
7)load rom from sd card (you should have the su-2.1 in you're sd card) it will let you choose, choose su-2.1 hit power, confirm and let it finish.
you're done wait for the phone to reboot into you're new rom

Well, I just booted into the bootloader, it scanned the PC36IMG.zip file, but didn't do anything else but put me back at the bootlader menu. I selected Recovery, hit the power button, then black screen with image of phone and red triangle w/exclamation point.
No idea what's wrong or what to do now except pull the battery.

I remember this problem and I'm trying to remember what I had to do. It seems like after it scanned the PC36IMG.zip it asked if I wanted to scan and I had to say "no" and then after that I could boot in to recovery. I remember it being some dumb little mistake that I made like 2 times in a row and then had a "d'oh" moment when I realized why I kept getting the red triangle. Man, I'm gonna try to remember this and post later. Hopefully you get it though.

cannot start evo after root

i rooted my evo and then reinstalled a backup, now i cannot start the evo, it just keeps rebooting. i have tried to restore nand backup, installing the new pc36img.zip file and reformatting the sd card. when i start with the pc36img.zip file on the root of the sd card, i get no image or wrong image. it also has the newest ota. any help would be greatly appreciated.

you have to use OTA simple root, you can't use the regular simpleroot and most likely you nand wasn't unlocked that's why you have the bootloop.

I have tried multiple PC136img.zip files.
Thank you
I used the ota simple root... when it was done, i tried to restore a backup of all my apps and data using my backup, that's when the loop started. I can boot into boot loader, nand, restore, etc... but nothing seems to get me out.
Thank you
What HBOOT version do you have? When you statr phone with volume down and power, white screen you come to at the top should be the version.
The HBoot is 0.79.0000
erase all the new files from your sd csrd....like pc36 and the flast image and image1-3...then start over using simpleroot 1.47
Thanks but I cannot boot the phone at all. I was able to format the card to fat32, boot the phone to recovery, start the ota simple root, on pc run Windows-recovery, start a adb shell and push the pc36img from simple root to it... but when I reboot from there, I get the "no image or wrong image". Then it will say loading... pc36img.zip for about 30 seconds, then says checking pc36img.zip for another 30 and go to the menu with "fastboot, recovery, clear storage etc..."
I can select "recovery" and see any Rom or zip file and load it; but it will still boot to a loop.
Thanks again.
Have you tried toasts part 2 in its entirity? You dont have the engineering hboot. Look for whiteslacks starting over it will tell you to do toasts part 2 first then run the whiteslack method you are going to have to get engineering hboot to do much of anything.

I will try it out and let you know. Thank you very much.
i tried the toast 2, but can't seem to get past the mtd-eng.img part.'
here's what i get. First i Hold down the vol button and press power. once the phone starts, i scroll down to recovery and press power. in recovery it says "ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1" at the top and bottom of the screen. Now i open a command prompt on my computer and type in, "recovery-windows" the phone then goes into the android system recovery, and at the bottom says "Build : not set". From here i can open shell on the computer by typing "adb shell", but when i type in the first line "cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image" it returns "cat: can't open '/sdcard/flash_image': No such file or directory" but i can ls while in a shell and see the file in the data directory and i can cd to any directory. the flash_image file is in the data director, and i can change the permissions with 755, but cannot get past that part.
OK... I don't really know how, but i was able to finally get it to see the PC36img.zip files. i pushed the flash_image to the /data directory, wiped everything and rebooted with the new PC36IMG file on the root. it asked if i wanted to update, and the rest is history...
Thank you for all your help.
I never used simple root and i dont recommend by other suggestionfor many issue during the process. Always i use this way and work perfectly easy and useful step by step , then last step flash custom rom

[GUIDE] Rooting AND Unrooting NS4G using a Mac

I’ve compiled this information, found elsewhere, in order to make it easier for Mac users with the Nexus S 4g. I’ve simply combined BuglessPete’s Instructions for Rooting/Unrooting on the NS4g, with kenvan19’s Guide to Root on a Mac. All credit goes to them and the sources they cited in their original threads. Any errors here are my own. This method worked for me. The only change I’ve made is to link to the most recent version of Clockwork Recovery.
[NOTE: If Pete prefers, this information can be incorporated into his original thread, and a Mod can delete this]
Warning: If you break your phone trying this, I am not responsible. I do not guarantee that the following is safe or that the steps are correct. Rooting your phone voids the warranty. I have no responsibility for anything that occurs as a result of your following these directions! I cannot provide any support nor guide you in undoing this process and restoring the phone to factory condition.
This process will wipe your phone. Ie, you will lose all your apps/data on your phone and have to reinstall them. It will also wipe your external storage, so back that up prior to proceeding if you want to keep anything.
1) Download this file and unzip it to your desktop (Inside you'll find all the files you need to proceed including "adb", "fastboot", "recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-crespo.img", and "su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip"). Immediately delete "recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-crespo.img." You’ll replace it with the new version.
2) Download Clockwork 4.0.0.2 (****MAKE SURE YOU SELECT ONE OF THE NS4G VERSIONS*****) in the color of your choosing. Move the file into the adb-fastboot folder you created in Step 1.
3) On your phone, go to Menu>Settings>Applications. Select "Development" and check the box next to "USB debugging"
4) Connect the phone to your Mac via the USB cable
5) Open a Terminal window on your Mac (Applications>Utilities>Terminal), and copy/paste the following into the Terminal:
Code:
~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/adb reboot bootloader
Hit "Return" and wait for your phone to reboot into Bootloader/Fastboot mode
5) If your Bootloader screen says "LOCK STATE - UNLOCKED" then skip to Step 6. If it says "LOCK STATE - LOCKED" then copy/paste the following into the Terminal:
Code:
~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/fastboot oem unlock
Hit "Return" and on your phone will prompt you to confirm and warn you that you are going to lose everything. Confirm. At this point you will have an unlocked bootloader.
6) Copy/paste the following into the Terminal window (***Change the file name to the appropriate color***):
Code:
~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/fastboot flash recovery ~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/ns4g-4002-COLOR.img
Hit "Return" again and wait for recovery to boot.
For the following steps while in Recovery, use "Volume Down" to highlight a selection and "Power" to choose that selection:
8) Choose "mounts and storage"
9) Choose "mount USB storage". Your phone should now be mounted on the Mac as a Device called "NO NAME"
10) Move the zip file "su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip" from the "adb-fastboot" folder to the "NO NAME" Device on you computer.
11) Eject/unmount your phone in the Finder on your Mac.
12) On your phone, choose "Unmount"
13) Choose "mount /system"
14) Choose "+++++Go Back+++++"
15) Choose "install zip from sdcard"
16) Choose "choose zip from sdcard"
17) Choose "su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip"
Some people with new Nexus S' are finding that the file discussed in the following steps does not exist. If you cannot find it but can still reboot into Clock Work Recovery Mod then don't worry, you're still rooted and fine!
At this point you have root, but your phone will continue to replace ClockworkMod Recovery on reboot. To prevent this, do the following:
1) Reboot your phone, and download the app "Root Explorer" from the Market
2) Open Root Explorer and navigate to the "etc" directory.
3) Tap on the gray box that says "Mount R/W"
4) Tap and hold on the file "install-recovery.sh" and rename this file to "install-recovery.sh.old"
5) Download the app "ROM Manager"
6) Open ROM Manager and choose "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery". At this point you are all set.
To Unroot and Return to Stock:
1) Download Stock GRJ22 Software Images.
2) Unzip the files, and place the images into the adb-fastboot folder you created on your desktop above.
3) Open a terminal and use the following commands:
Code:
~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/adb reboot bootloader
4) Wait for bootloader to reboot on phone.
5) Then, in terminal use the following commands:
Code:
~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/fastboot flash boot ~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/boot.img
~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/fastboot flash system ~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/system.img
~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/fastboot flash recovery ~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/recovery.img
~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/fastboot flash userdata ~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/userdata.img
~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/fastboot erase cache
~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/fastboot oem lock
6) Reboot to System, and you should be returned to Stock, Unrooted GRJ22.

I'm not sure if you're reading the instructions correctly. You don't create /etc R/W.
In root explorer go to /etc directory and click on "Mount R/W" then rename the install file.
If there is a remount option, you probably already mounted.
Awesome thanks.
This is great, thanks. Is anyone having success? I have to wait until after work to do this.

Some root apps require BusyBox in order to work properly.
Edit: I think nandroid backup and BusyBox install should be part of every proper root guide.
FYI: The second steps 1-6 are ONLY necessary if clockwork recovery doesn't stick.
I didn't have to use these steps myself.
To see if it stuck, turn phone off. Then hold Volume UP + Power to enter bootloader. Then enter recovery, if it enters Clockwork Recovery. You're fine, and you don't need to do the second steps 1-6.

You can see that as giving back to the economy in one way...
I could swear when i rooted early this morning on my virgin NS4G, it was 3.0.something and now i see it is now 4.0.something. Anyway i had to get inventive as the SD card would not mount on my Mac when i got to that part. Basically rebooted normally to reg Android, transferred SU to SD card(it mounted then) and got back to the step to flash SU. Did that manually, got a hold of ROM manager and all's well.
Only issue is that more often than not it still boots to the blue recovery and not CWM, and sometimes the Android guy with yellow rectangle. When that happens, i connect to Mac via USB and get to CWM via terminal.
But on the whole, ROM manager is a saviour. Been playing with MIUI rom now and it's impressive.
I assume the right way to boot into CWM is to hold down volume key and power key at the same time?
Trying to unroot to send it back for a replacement. At "~/Desktop/adb-fastboot/adb reboot bootloader" I'm getting "error: device not found." It's driving me bat****. Any ideas?
jckeyser - I know it might sound stupid but did u try a different usb cable? i just came across same issue as you. was unable to get my device to show up. Turns out cable i was using for some reason wasn't working with NS4G. It was my old Palm Pre cable. i swapped my cable for one that came with my kindle and device immediately showed up without any problems

Hey guys, just got the NS4G yesterday and want to root using this method. The best buy associate updated me from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5 without my knowledge and I was curious if this method would still work. If not, is there one that will.
Thanks

unrooting

sup everyone. Heres my dilemma. My speaker on my htc evo 4g was crackling (damaged). I have extended warranty but my phone was rooted. i started to unroot it. Put pc36img zip on the root directory and i get a fail-pu,partition up date fail. It does not want to take the update. I have read several and tried to run some of the recommended "how to unroot" procedures. End up with the same problem. Any other suggestions. The s-off. Radio-2.15.00.11.19.
thanks
Unrooting
1. http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever ; Scroll down to the FAQs, then download the unrevoked s-on zip. This places the security back on your phone, because rooting makes it s-off, and if s-on, quickest way to tell your phone was rooted.
2. Flash that file from recovery, then boot back into the bootloader [vol+down while turning phone on] and verify until its s-on.
3. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19699565/3.70 RUU Zip.zip ; rename that file to PC36IMG, place on the root of your sdcard [not in a folder] then flash it in the bootloader. When the scan that normally does nothing, it'll detect that file. Apply the update then reboot. That's a stock 3.70 firmware file, it'll take you back to stock, unrooted, s-on.
downloaded s-0n. took out sd and mounted it on my computer. put the s-on on the root directory. removed and put it in my phone. volume down and powered up. hit recovery. results: wrong image. triangle red exclamation point.

The problem there is you don't have a recovery loaded. Stock recovery [no recovery] is marked by the triangle and red !.
Go here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
Read the first green text , 'bootloader way' to install the recovery. Then repeat the steps of booting into recovery and flashing the s-on after you have amon-ra installed.
Thanks. I followed the the Bootloader way - - Thanks Tiffany84 ^^
Place PC36IMG.zip on the root of your sd card.
Boot the phone into the bootloader by powering the phone down, then press the power and the volume down buttons at the same time.
Once the phone boots into the bootloader the phone will automatically recognize the zip file. It will ask if you would like to update, select yes and let it do it's thing and you will be good to go.
results: radio v2-failed and partition update fail!
update fail!

Well. After working it I find another file: PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.30.651.3_Radio_2.15. 00.09.01_NV_1.77_003_release_157088-signed. Renamed it PC36IMG and unplugged the usb cable connection from my phone to pc and voila! It took the stock image. I am not sure which one allowed me to load the image update. Would you know?
Now that that part is done i rebooted and the s-off is still there. Should I load the s-on the root directory like you said. I dont want to freak up again.
Many thanks
So mine has tried to load this renamed PC36IMG twice now and seems to be stuck in some kind of loop in HBOOT. This is concerning.
Now it's updating (Parsing) for the second time. I hope it gets it one of these times. I'd rather not buy a new phone

How to update Spring Galaxy SIII to Jellybean.

This is an instructional on how to update your Sprint Samsung Galaxy SIII to Jellybean and then re-root your phone if you want to.
Please know that I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone if you make a bonehead decision and screw your phone up.
To do this process you will also need an external SD card.
First I would recommend backing up all of your applications using an application such as Titanium Backup. Please note that this process will wipe all data, but not the SD card.
Secondly I would also recommend that if you have a custom recovery make a Nandroid backup just in case you don't like Jellybean or for whatever reason you want to go back to your previous setup.
Download all of the files from this website and put them all in a folder where you can easily find them. As of right now not all of the files are uploaded so bear with me and if you plan to update READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST!
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/t7uopgr7598z074/sgsBQdoqmT
Now let's begin!
1. Once you are all backed up, put your phone into download mode. Extract the files within "Samsung-updates.com.zip" to somewhere you can find them. Then open up Odin, check PDA, then click on the "PDA" button, and navigate to the "KIES_HOME_L710VPALI3_L710SPRALI3_1092716_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5" file that your extracted from the zip before. Click run. This process will perform a factory reset on your phone and bring your phone completely back to stock.
2. Once your phone has completely rebooted and Odin has finished, transfer the "eec955eb4a5b.update_SPH-L710_LI3_to_LJ7.zip" file over to the ROOT, or center, of your external sd card. Then turn off your phone. Hold the Home, volume down, and power button until the a warning screen appears. Press the volume key to confirm the risk then once in download mode navigate to "apply update from external sd card" and then find the update file, and run it.
Congradulations! Your phone should now be running JellyBean!!!
If you would like to regain root permissions on you device do the following steps.
3. Once your phone completely boots back up after it completes, plug in your phone and transfer the "TeamEpic root from recovery" file, over to your internal SD card. Then navigate to the developer options in settings and make sure USB(Android) debugging is checked on. Once you've done this navigate to the "Misc Files" folder you downloaded. You need to navigate to this folder in command prompt, you can go about doing that one of two ways:
-if you are on windows 7 and no files are selected in the folder, you can hold the shift key, then right click within the window and choose "Open command prompt window here",
or
-you can open up command prompt and navigate to the folder from there.
4. Now that you have navigated to the Misc Files folder in command prompt, run the commands-
adb push recovery.img /sdcard/recovery.img
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
reboot recovery
5. Once your phone has rebooted into recovery choose update from sdcard, then navigate to the TeamEpic root from recovery file and run it. Once this has completed you can reboot your phone.
Now you should be on the newest version of Touchwiz and be rooted!
If you have any questions or if I left anything out or screwed something up, don't hesitate to ask in this thread.
Just curious when you are going to post the "Samsung-updates.com.zip" file? Or where can it be downloaded from?
Any other files missing?
Thanks~
Sorry about the missing files. Im now trying to upload the files via Dropbox. You can find the update file on xda and the tar file at samsung-updates.com
Sorry for the trouble.
Just tried it got stuck on the Samsung screen on boot-up I can still go to download mode going to retry to download the file and try to install it with odin again. I'll keep you updated
