Question important plz - HTC Wildfire S

my phone was bricked giving vibrations with volume + power buttons after a failed try of updating RUU via computer.
then i give phone to a person, he repaired the phone somehow, now when i press the power button, a while screen with htc logo appears, and if i press volume down + power, it goes to HBOOT with following information given
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.90000
MICROP-0451
RADIO-7.46.35.08
it also gives the option "SIMLOCK, FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, CLEAR STORAGE"
plz help me how can i get it to working condition again.

the person who repaired its boot said he is unable to flash it.. i don't understand what it means.. so i came to xda for solution

Is it possible to update via RUU with S-ON?

RUU says the phone is not connected to PC when i try to update it. it is detected in device manager as Android 1.0 when in Hboot

you should be able to get it going again as long as you have an sd card and some patience
ok first off follow this guide https://sites.google.com/site/androidbyyorzua/home/tutorials/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-ruu
ok now that you have your rom.zip rename it to PG76IMG.zip
then place it onto the root of your sd card. (the root of the sd card is the first screen you come to when you access the sd card on the computer/phone ect ect ect.)
then boot the phone with volume down + power.
the phone will find the pg76img.zip and and ask to update.
push volume up.
let it do its business and hopefully it will fix your phone.
bear in mind this implies that you have the correct ruu. and more importantly the correct cid. but if it wont update it the phone should give out an error code
good luck and post back

i tried this method.. i made a goldcard, put the file on its root directory..
when i power it on using volume down + power button, it goes to HBOOT menu and do not give any option to install the file..

is the hboot of the ruu lower than your current hboot? if so this wont work. and does the hboot even search the sdcard?

That ruu is OLD!
why u want run an ruu?? U have s-off now..enjoy it
To restore everything (as i read ur private message) do this:
-download this with ur pc and rename it a PB99IMG.zip (not PB99IMG.zip.zip ok?)
-then put it on the root of ur sdcard (not in some folder) through an sd card reader
-ensure the battery is charged much than 30%..better more
-with the phone off (remove battery and put again) press and HOLD the volume down key and press (still holding the volume down key) and hold the power button..hold both and wait to enter in the hboot
-there wait a bit, and it will ask to u if u want apply the update, select yes with the volume keys and confirm with power button
It should restore everything (but ur hboot will be still s-off, i suggest u to stay with it if u dont need warranty..to get s-on before the ruu u should flash the downgrader hboot from alpharev.nl)
Ok i will try tnx
I edit my previous post
tnx now is working

need big help install RUU!!!

unrooting friend's phone, downloaded a stock froyo RUU, have s-on...
when I double click the RUU in windows it says it's changing from fresh rom to this, I hit next, it says rebooting into boot loader, then it says error [155] The ROM update utility cannot update your android phone. Please get the correct rom update utility and try again
so I'm giving up on trying to use an RUU, what I need is the most current stock unrooted rom that I can flash in clockworkmod that will remove clockwork when flashed. any help would be HUGELY appreciated
Like everything else on this site I am not responsible for anything that may, or may not, happen to your phone by following the instructions below. I am simply informing you as to what worked for me.
1. Download the following zip file http://www.filesonic.com/file/1893573824
2. Rename to PC36IMG.zip
3. Place in root of SD Card (Make sure this is the ONLY PC36IMG.zip file on your SD card)
4. Boot into HBOOT (press & hold the volume down button while pressing the power button)
5. Once in Hboot highlight and select the "Bootloader" option. Allow bootloader to detect the PC36IMG.zip
6. apply the update by pressing the up volume button when prompted. (will take several minutes for update to apply)
7. Check your Hboot to make sure you have S-on. If not, then **CLICK HERE** and follow Captain Throwback's method for getting S-on.
8. Enjoy newly unrooted phone
Zip file will replace EVERYTHING. Stock splash screen, boot animation, up to date OTA release, recovery, S-ON, and HBOOT.
I used this method last night when unrooting my phone because I thought I would have to take my phone into Sprint today. However, running this zip happened to resolve the issue I was having so I turned around and rooted again.
I would give credit to whomever it was I saw this unroot process from but unfortunately it was late and I was sleep deprived so I do not remember. Either way, I do not take credit for it whatsoever. If I come across the one who suggested it I will edit this post and give the credit that user is due.

Will this RUU work for me?
H-Boot 2.10.0001
Radio-2.15.00.05.02
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELC03_16ac
The PC36IMG file will unroot your phone and return it back to stock, but if your bootloader reads S-OFF, it will still read S-OFF afterwards.
To return the phone to S-ON, you would first need to flash the radio that I linked through recovery,
http://www.mediafire.com/?xlhm124ur4bnxln#1
then the unrevoked-forever-S-ON file I attached before running the PC36IMG file.

unbricking an Wildfire? AKA stuck at fastboot

Hi All
Sorry if this has been resolved before but I can't see the solution.
I have just got hold of an HTC Wildfire that's stuck on Fastboot:
BUZZ PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.80.007
MICROP-0622
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELC03_16ac
RADIO-3.35.15.31
Aug 9 2010,22:37:43
Lets assume its never been rooted - what are my options
Currently none of the buttons work in Fastboot.
When I hold the power and volume down it enters HBOOT but as before non of the buttons or touch sensor works, tho if I plug in the usb cable it changes to HBOOT USB PLUG.
Any ideas on how I can bring it back to life?
TiA
I.
I am definitely lost here. I have no idea what you mean by "Stuck at Fastboot". Fastboot is a special mode enabled when you S-OFF the device using AlphaRev / Revolutionary, which allows special Fastboot commands, previously only allowed on engineering sample devices and developer devices. AFAIK, there is no such thing as "Fastboot" on a never rooted HTC Wildfire.
Anyway, it seems everything is in order (Because, I dont know what happens when you are trying to turn on the phone normally). But, note that when in HBOOT mode, you have to wait a while for the phone to scan through the sdcard for PC49IMG files. Once the scan is over, only then you can navigate through it. Also, navigation is achieved using the side volume buttons, and, to select an entity, use the power button. No other button, and the touch will not respond in the HBOOT Mode, and it is normal.
Now, assuming your device is not booting, try installing the Stock ROM over it again, but since installing an RUU will not be possible since the device is not booting, you will have to extract the ROM.zip from one.
- Download the Froyo WWE 2.22.405.1 RUU from here - (It is an EXE File) - http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz
- Extract the ROM.zip file from the RUU. Follow this method (Assuming you have a Windows PC) http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html
- Once you have that file, rename it to PC49IMG.zip, place on your SDCard, then reboot in HBOOT mode. It will attempt to install the ROM itself. Remember again, only use the Power button to select stuff in HBOOT mode, and side volume keys to navigate.
Thanks for the reply: Sorry I failed to report that the device jumps straight to HBOOT from power on. Downloading the required files I'll do an update once the steps have been followed.
UPDATE:
Loading PC49IMG.zip
Checking PC49IMG.zip
CID incorrect!
Update FAIL!
Press <POWER> to reboot.
It's going to need a Goldcard in that case. Create one using this guide:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
Alternately, use this GUI App to that:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/308798-pc-application-goldcardtool/
Thanks but correct me if I am wrong but don't you need to have a working Wildfire to generate a Gold card? (debug mode on)
Got an interesting update,
As I'm getting CID error's I'm guessing its down to the phone being a branded model.
Looking at the Phone, I ruled out Orange and Virgin as they usually plaster their logo all over the the phone.
Did I few keyword searches with keywords from the Part number and other digits on the box.
It started to look like a H3G (Three) Phone.
Using the link above I downloaded:
RUU_Buzz_H3G_UK_1.16.771.2_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_131501_signed.exe (Eclair version)
Followed the steps and above and it gave me the following error:
Main Version is older!
Update Fail!
So success! (well sort off). does anyone have a H3G (Three) UK signed Froyo image (exe) RUU?
Thanks
I.
There is an OTA update.zip available for H3G UK. Look for this file on Shipped ROMs:
OTA_Buzz_Froyo_H3G_UK_2.33.771.1-1.26.771.1_release_163490jq8do89dc3y83p6w.zip
Now, I am not 100% certain on how to install this, since I personally have never tried it, but, try this procedure nevertheless.
- Download that file
- Rename to update.zip
- Then, place it on your SDCard
- Reboot in HBOOT mode
- Navigate to RECOVERY in HBOOT Mode, Press Power button. This will show you a red triangle with an exclamation mark
- Now, Press VOL UP + POWER simultaneously, this should take you to the Stock Recovery
- Here, select apply SD:update.zip. It will again automatically attempt to update the ROM.
Again thanks for your help... I'm so close
Remember none of the keys are responsive even waiting for the timeout of the loading.
Also using a different method I've think I've created a goldcard. (If it works I'll post how I did it.)
What do I do once I have a goldcard?
What file should I be looking to install?
A generic WWE one in that case, (Froyo WWE 2.22.405.1 as I linked earlier, or, Eclair 1.37.405.1, both available as EXE's)
Remember though, Goldcards are device specific. But, the defective keys are indeed a problem. In such a case, I guess the only method that remains is the one I posted in post #2
Good Luck
FECK!
So if my goldcard was working, using the extraction rom.zip process in Step 2 it would override the CID incorrect issue, am I correct?
Currently I am still getting the same error message...
Back to the drawing board...
Yes, that is about correct. Also, some sdcards do not like being made into goldcards, so, if possible, try with another. (If even after retrying, it doesn't work)
Well I'm one step closer...
Created a Goldcard and I was able to install the ROM.zip it reported that it worked, however when I powered the unit back on it went straight back for fastboot....
:/
Are you sure it's an undamaged phone? Now it seems that it's sort of damaged. (Board / button damage). The RUU flash should have solved any software issues, because, as you verified, it did flash successfully.
BTW, can you tell me which RUU you flashed, and what do you get as the first few lines of HBoot? (Which initially was Buzz PVT SHIP S-ON, HBOOT 0.80.0007... etc)?
Checked all the buttons - seem to be ok, I can hear the micro switches clicking:
It has been updated:
HBOOT-1.01.0001
MICROP-0622
RADIO-3.35.20.10
Downloading SUnAaBh v1.1 will see if that will work.
You can't flash Sunaabh / Other ROM's using this method. Official one's only. The buttons may click, but, if they are not doing what they are intended to do, it's obviously damaged,
Hmm, ok can I force a clockworkmod flash?
It's going to need the S-OFF exploit by Revolutionary to push Clockworkmod Recovery, which I guess needs USB Debugging on.
http://revolutionary.io/
Well
Volume down and power button works - otherwise it would not have gone into HBOOT and Volume up button works otherwise I would not have been able to start the flash.
Def a strange one...
See if you can do a "Clear Storage" in HBoot, although it's not going to help, it's worth a shot IMO.
BTW, doesn't the phone automatically enter in HBoot when you turn on just using the Power key?

SOLVED Desire HD bricked??? ... while downgrade... hboot dont start,

Hi, yesterday night i try to downgrade my DHD, with aahk-13012012, but I can`t. Then I go to options menu, and select install clockworldmod, with device non rooted, and not s-off ( My DHD still with Orange stock rom 2.3.5 and sense 3).
I boot in recovery mode, and flash IceColdSandwich-7.4. desire hd AOKP-signed.zip
The instalation finished well, but I only can boot device i Hboot.
I select factory reset option in hboot.
Then I can`t start android, I can`t start Hboot.
When I start DHD still white screen with green HTC logo
I dont know what can I do without Hboot.
AAHK don't recognice my DHD, appear:
***ERROR ERROR ERROR***
phone not pluged in
OR
Driver not installed
OR
USB Debugging not enabled.
***ERROR ERROR ERROR***
Phone is plugged, I uninstall all htc drivers and reinstall aahk htc windrivers, but I cant enable USB debugging because I can`t start android.
What can I do with my Desire hd?
thanks for all in advance, and sorry for my english
First off before you continue, STOP. Good news it is fixable, bad news that goes beyond my knowledge. Don't try anything else until you find the correct thread with the same problem, or someone else points you in the right direction.
After I have some lunch and do a few things I'll see if I find what you need or someone else comes in before that.
Apparently I'm in a good mood today
Sent from a dream.
Hold down volume up and power button to boot into HBoot, from there you will need to install CWM and you'll be able to have a custom ROM. You will need SOFF and root access

Jesus, if you have read the WHOLE manual then u wouldn´t be here....STOP trying things because u eventually will end up messing your device.
Are u able to boot in hboot?....if so, just let me know and I will lend u a hand..

ok, now I know that my vol- button is damaged, I need to push vey hart to enter in hboot.
Please help, I read the entire manual, I understand that must do downgrade because Im not sOFF and Im not root.
I put the PM98IMG.zip in the main directory of SD and run bootloader, but nothing happen, bootloader dont find image.
I format SD in FAT32 and try
SD checking Loadinf.... PD98DIAG.zip
No image
Loading PD98DIAG..nbh
No image or wrong image
Loadinf PD98IMG.zip
and after a minute it continue with...
Wrong zipped image!
Loading PD98DIAG.nbh

what can i do?
You'll need to flash a RUU before continue with rooting and downgrade.

Ok, got it running
So here's the procedure in case someone else has the same problem.
1) Find the RUU you need to go back to what you had before, in my case it was the 3.17 asia
2) Get the rom.zip from this file : start install and when it tells you that it is not possible go to your my documents/user/local files/temp folder, sort the folders by DATE so that you have the latest used on top and open it, in this folder there will be the rom.zip file
3) Rename this rom.zip file to PD98IMG.zip, send it to the root of the SD (best way is to get the SD out of the phone and do it from the computer)
4) Launch the phone in recovery (power and then hold VOL DOWN) the phone will ALWAYS try to check PD98IMG.zip and if it checks it will ask you if you want to install it, just say yes (for me it took all night)
5) when you're back to your latest rom, you can use the aahk, for me I had to run it 2 times but in the end it it S-OFF and then install whatever rom you want.
Thanks to everybody who has helped me on this

ok, there's no RUU for Orange Spain, so I guess you will have to use an unbranded ruu....if your volume rocker is broken and u still are S-ON why don't u take it to service? you might mess it a bit more trying to get it working...

I download unbranded RUU, and rename PD98IMG.zip.
I put PD98IMG.zip in SD, and run Bootloader
Bootloader install PD98IMG.zip correctly but phone continue with white screen and green htc.
I try to restore from recovery an orange spain backup made by zhecloud from htcmania.
Revocery restore the files, but the phone continue with white screen and green htc.
I try to istall wwe RUU, and the program detect the phone, but can`t update it, say that search an RUU version compatible.

you need to take out the sdcard. the bootloader is failing because the stuff on it is too large or its a dud card.
using a different sdcard go to the "how to downgrade from hboot 1.02.0000 to hboot 1.01.0001" thread in the general section and download the package. open it and rename the 1.01.zip to pc49img.zip (making sure its not.zip.zip) and then put it onto the sdcard. put that into the phone and reboot to bootloader. assuming all is well it will find the "update" and ask you to flash it. select volume up to flash. wait for complete install and full reboot into stock rom. job done
nop didnt work, any other idea??????
i rename the 1.01.zip to pc49img.zip and then i put it into the sdcard
i start the phone holding the "down volume" boot into bootloader mode after 3 sec started
searching image.. image not found..image not found..image not found..
and back to bootloader without can move any button.
i'm 6 hours trying to find a solution even adb i tried but this not founding device cause i cannot debug usb.

Your sdcard is incompatible (make sure its a genuine card, like sandisk ect and is preferably under 4gb) or you have renamed it to pc49img.zip.zip, if you are using windows search on Google for how to enable file extensions and see if its named zip.zip

im not that rookie
the file extension is correct.
and the sd card is 2gb from my other mobile(st15i)
Also, just because your card came from another phone and is 2gb does not mean a htc bootloader will like it. Sometimes they just reject reading from some cards. Nothing wrong with them other than the hboot simply not liking them. Try a different card if possible.

Hi,
I just have the exact same pb (except my HBOOT is 1.01.0002 and it is branded Bouygues). I had no SD card in my phone. At first I thought it was hardware because I found some other thread saying that this could be a short circuit resulting in power + vol down behing hold at all time, hence the bootloader and kesy not responding but it turns ou it was not it... So hope for you I guess.
* I download a RUU : RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
* plugged the phone without battery
* put battery in (which resulted once again in bootloader screen)
* waited for the device to be installed on my computer
* after that I run the RUU.exe which wipped user data, did some other stuff... (meanwhile the screen went from bootloader to HTC) and at some point the instalation failed with a error 131 id client (because the version was older than the one installed on the phone)
* after that the phone restarted normally and everything is fine now
well, nevermind..
It works as long as I don't turn off the phone.... This is driving me nuts. I managed to downgrade the HBOOT to 1.01.1001, gained S-OFF with revolutionnary (couldn't install clockwork recovery though). I even run the RUU successfully but if I turn off the phone, next time I power it on, I end up on the bootloader screen and power and volume buttons are not working.
[Edit] I found more info in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354199#post58713960.
Instead of running the RUU, I can skip the bootloader by simply running the command :
fastboot reboot
I don't want have to do this every time I turn off my phone to make it work again. So, I'm still looking for a more definitive fix.

Actually I managed to solve this 2 days ago (I am pretty sure I already posted to say that, can't find the reply though) by copying a CMW 5.0.2.8 PC49IMG.zip (http://www25.zippyshare.com/v/70647552/file.html) file in my sdcard and inserting it in the phone.
I could boot the phone in normal mode without going through bootloader screen (even without flashing anything...).
After I restarted to bootloader (willingly this time) keys were working, it prompted for the update, so I could install CMW and after CM 7.
So everything is fine now thank you.

You can install clockworkmod recovery by using fastboot commands pal. If your on your stock rom and dont have advanced reboot you can download an app called quick reboot and use that to reboot. We need to work out if its your volune buttons that are broken or not. If they are we may be able to replace them, or worst case senario we can disable them.
