#1 reason is probably the force CDMA command in the startup.txt. If you're CDMA, you need it to =1, if you're GSM you need it to =0. Check that & get back to us.

thnx for helping
that was the problem

i am having ths same issue with sprint. Ive tried to check and uncheck the force cdma and neither work. Where do i actually look to see it its set to 0?

You are on Sprint, so Force CDMA=1. Also probably the number one reason you have no service is the SIM card is still in. Remove the SIM and re-try Android.

I have tried removing the sim card in the past and i tried again. now what happens is that with force cdma checked it keeps trying to connect and then disconnects 20 seconds later over and over. I try to access the wireless networks settings but because it keeps disconnecting it goes back so it doesnt have achance to search for wireless networks.
If i dont force cdma then nothing happens and when i search for wireless networks it just keeps and searching but nothing happens. any help would be appreciated.

So wifi has nothing to do with CDMA/GSM... Typically wifi gets hosed from people who update their zImage but not their modules - they go hand-in-hand and while you can run without the modules, stuff like wifi won't work at all.

Ok you're still not being clear.
I assume your issue is you can't connect to the internet via the cell radio? Thru Sprint's network instead of wifi?
Can you make/receive calls? If so, data *should* just connect, assuming you're using relatively new stuff. A while ago you had to create an APN manually to connect, but that shouldn't be the case any more...

How do i access the force cdma. I use some sort of booting app that allows me to check or uncheck force cdma and to choose overclock speeds and update to newer versions. I dont see any place where i can access any stratup.txtThanks for your help. I would really love to try out android. Sprint wont let me update to any other smart phone but the tp2 (not that that is a bad thing) unless i upgrade my plan. I pay 5$ for unlimited data

You don't want to know what I pay...
So I'm not sure how to explain this. Your startup.txt is a file you edit - where you run haret.exe from?
It sounds like you installed the cab, which unfortunately means you probably know nothing about how the system is put together, even at a high-level. Which is a shame...
With that said, assuming you're running v1.3 of the startup app, it should work fine. I cannot, and will not support that app. If you need support for that app, please go to sov's thread on the application.
If you want help on XDAndroid, then we can help... but we encourage you to search, read, research, search again, read some more, do a little more research, and then you may be ready to post. Maybe.

Yes is possible.
Download a full rom (like the italian one).
Launch the full upgrade with the phone disconnected
kill the mirage client with the task manger
You will find the rom splitted in 3 files on the C:\ directory.
Copy the _phone.bin file somewhere.
Then relaunch the mirage client and choose to flash the pone part only with the above file.
You will need the smsung generic modem drivers (the ones for the i600 or i607 are ok) to flash the phone section.
hi,
in my case i780 connect on wifi but internet explorer don't work.
It only works when i an on data provider.
Thank you for that tip Solutor,
I will give it a try now.
BTW - is the Italian ROM newer then mine?
mine is -
PDA: i780DXHA1
PHONE: i780DXGL2
And, why if so, wy don't I install the italiam ROM as a whole (not just the radio part) and then add my languages?
and ...will it affect the Radio of the GPS as well?
Amazing!
You have solved my problem!
Thank you!
I have been working on this for a week now, and finally...you came up with it
3G is working and now even the GPS is showing some "living symoptoms" ( I still have to play with it more).
Cheers
Me too i have flashed the radio and the wifi works
I can now confirm that the device works flawlessly !
GPS hooks up in a few seconds (after an initial 5 minutes for the first time) and everything works superb! no third parties (port Splitter, GPSGate, etc.) required!
Soluter - you made my day!

Kill mirage from the process tab, not from the application tab.
Another way is flashing the whole italian rom, then flashing back the english one (as the one that is lying around is the pda part only)
BTW, I'm trying to upload somewhere the splitted rom, stay tuned!

Thanks for your quick reply. When you say turn the phone off do you mean switch to flight mode i,e, leave the device on? I did that but still get the waiting for device....
All I did was select the _phone file and click detect. Do I need to do anything else? Do I need select anything in the Loader section?? Sorry - I'm not finding as easy as flashing my HTC Touch!
no actually switch the phone off...select the phone part of the rom and then connect the phone and it should auto start flashing

WIFI Router does NOT work with full root

Hey everyone. between my brothers and I, we have five Evo's. two of us are running full roots and nand unlocks, the other three are using unrevoked. those that unrevoked can use the wifi router without issue, but for my brother and myself, using the wifi router results in the app crashing and having to force close.
has anyone seen anything similar? can anyone offer me some solution?
and btw, this is my third rom. they all have the same results(full wipe, data and davik cache clear each time)
Delete wi fi tether from the phone and re-download it. This has worked for me everytime i change roms =)
Hope it helps.
Do you mean the wireless tether app? I am running my own rom but it seems that it worked for me when I was using fresh. But that is the only other rom I have tried. Have you tried re-installing the tether app?
I'm not sure i can remove the base wifi tether app. it's always cooked into the rom. and i have tried reinstalling the app. i've gone from the original version, to the newer version and finally the beta version with no luck
I was having this issue for awhile. I'm not sure exactly what fixed it, but my work around was:
1. Re-install from the market place (Do not launch)
2. Reboot
3. Install this version http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre2.apk&can=2&q=NexusOne
(Don't lanch)
4. Reboot
5. Should work now
Hmmmmmm. I am sure someone else can offer better advice, but does the super user app come up to ask for permission or it fc's before that?

okay, i did exactly as you said. now the app will start, but as soon as i click on the wifi symbol, it thinks for a second and says "Unable to start tethering. Please try again!"
Edit: and on first run, it asked me for super user permissions. i click grant and checked the box to allow future requests
I am not sure if your signature is correct but have you tried flashing the newest radio? I am not sure if that would fix it or not. And the same thing happens to the other phone? Puzzling indeed. I'm sure someone will drop in and tell you how to fix it soon. Worst case, start over. Even though I know you said you tried various roms, maybe you are accidentally skipping a step, I do that sometimes

Ok, go back through the same process and try this one instead of what was in step 3.
http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...me=wireless_tether_2_0_2.apk&can=2&q=NexusOne
If that doesn't work, I've got nothing else. The first one was the beta you probably tried earlier. This is the stable one; however, I never tried it with this one. I always got it working using the 2_0_5 version.
Also, for ****s and giggles, have you tried updating you profile and prl?
- you didn't flash the wireless n patch over a 1.47 base Rom correct? Can you connect to a WiFi router or is it just the tether app?

uh....what?? you got me there! i thought i knew what those were, but it escapes me now.
the only thing i can think of is that the rooting process screwed up somehow. but for it to screw up in the same way for two separate phones is odd, but it's the only thing that has remained constant since the very beginning.
Menu - settings - system updates. The profile and prl won't mess with root or anything but its something I have heard to do in this case. Don't know if it will help.
Also did you see the note about the wifi n patch on the other page? I added it after I posted... like this

Well crapola. I think I'm outta ideas man. if you didn't patch the wireless n over a 1.47 Rom then I have no clue what it could be. maybe Sprint is spying on you and has your phones on lock down! but if you can't find the answer just try starting fresh. it might be a pain but who knows what little quirk could have gotten messed up.

Uh... who told you that? There's certain devices that have a wifi init issue, but it's not all of them.
Wifi has been working for a very long time... For all phones AFAIK, other than a few that had that init issue.
Typing from XDAndroid Tilt 2 and I can safely confirm that WIFI does work. Everything pretty much works including CAMERA and backlight.

Delete the ts-calibration file and boot again. Should force you to calibrate on first boot.
I heard some of the newer kernels cause issues with calibration - you should only have to ever calibrate once (assuming it's a good calibration) - just backup the file once you get a good one, and reuse it over and over.
So if you can't get it to calibrate, revert to an older kernel, get a good calib file, and save/reuse it.
It runs so slowly and freezes all the time.

WinMo stays. When you soft reset (from the pin or pulling the battery) you will be brought back to WinMo. Then you can just run haret again, and you're back in Android.
There's a dual-boot app - if you wish, just don't ask for support here. Post in the thread related to the tool. It's called Gen.Y.

hmmm doesn't force_cdma=1 seem incorrect for a ATT tilt2 on ATT 3g???
So basically create an xandroid directory on my SD card and add the line rel_path=xdandroid to the startup?
And copy those contents to that folder?
OK booting into xandroid, but no cell signal or data.
g sensor or something seems off in regards to landscape mode on my phone....
i will continue to search the forum, but any help appreciated!

If you are GSM, force_cdma needs to =0, you are correct. Please change this value accordingly.
Perhaps we need to tear thru the startups and clean them up!

Have you cleared the Dalvik-cache (be careful how you answer as "no" or "how" means you haven't searched first and that breaks one of the forum rules)?

When did issue first start?
Have you cleared the Dalvik-cache (be careful how you answer as "no" or "how" means you haven't searched first and that breaks one of the forum rules)?

Thanks. Yes I have cleaned up the dalvik cache. Infact while switching roms, I did full wipe and then dalvik cache wipe. But to no avail.
This problem started suddenly. Before that things were normal.
Can you download using mobile data (3G / HSDPA etc.)?
What happens when you try?

Yes, I can download through 2G
Sorry, my bad, what happens when you try to download over wifi? What errors do you get?
Have you got a friend or work where you can try a different wifi connection? Or another phone to test your own?

When i try to download over wifi, it gets stuck at "starting download" forever. I have not tried other phones, but as I mentioned, wifi is working fine since i can surf the net on the same phone over wifi!
although u r saying that wifi works properly, have you tried downloading something from the market from another wifi connection?
probably the bug will dissapear as spontaniously as it appeared.

Please hold my hand on rolling back my OS. phone hasn't worked right since I got the android 12 update

I have a oneplus 7t, on straight talk using verizon towers.
So since I got the android 12 update, I have spent several hours on the phone with customer service, and haven't been able to fix every issue.
We did fix the problem where I had no data, customer service walked me through updating the APN and that was fixed.
-I still can't receive MMS pictures through the standard app, I can work around that using the google messages app, but that's frustrating since I know something isn't working correctly.
-I randomly get call failed when I try to accept a phone call. This happens very often, but i'm not sure why it doesn't happen every time. I seem to be able to make outbound calls without any issues.
Not being able to fix the call issues, and MMS issues makes me want to roll back to android 11. the phone worked great until this android 12 update. I tried a factory reset, and still have the same issues.
I've tried searching for instructions but all of them are lacking thorough instructions. They say "pick the matching file for your phone", but mine is 1905, but only 1901 and 1903 are listed. I'm sure one of those are supposed to work, but which one?
"download this apk"...... ok, now i have a .apk.zip file that i don't know what to do with.
-delete .zip and i don't know how to make the .apk file install or open
-unzip, and i have 500 files that i don't know what to do with.
"move this to the root storage".... how?
I used to be more tech enabled, but it's been so long since i've rooted a phone or something else this involved. I really just want my phone to work properly again.
Well I can get the local update apk to open, but I can't figure out where to place or what to name the roll back file for that apk to find it. This is frustrating and wasting many hours of my life

Thanks, but that's not super helpful. I'm at the point where I'm struggling to get local update to find it, because I'm not sure where or how to move it to make it be found

Does the file contain something called MSM tool? If so you will need to do this from a Windows PC (or VM).
EDIT: nevermind disregard this post.

Move it from \sdcard\downloads to \sdcard root
I Need a little more specific help than that. Do I need to be hooked to a computer to do that? Does it mean to be changed at all? .zip.jar is correct? Because I've tried moving it from the downloads folder to device storage. It feels right to me, but it's not finding the file to update with.

Thank you, that was the last bit of help I needed with that. I've successfully rolled back and my phone is working correctly, as far as I can tell.
Well you answered my question. "Do not take this upgrade"
