Radio Version for Samsung i780 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi,
How is it be possible to upgrade the radio versin to another version?
My version is not able to hook up on 3G connections or SIM card.
Is there a way to upgrade it? and extract from other memeber for share?

Yes is possible.
Download a full rom (like the italian one).
Launch the full upgrade with the phone disconnected
kill the mirage client with the task manger
You will find the rom splitted in 3 files on the C:\ directory.
Copy the _phone.bin file somewhere.
Then relaunch the mirage client and choose to flash the pone part only with the above file.
You will need the smsung generic modem drivers (the ones for the i600 or i607 are ok) to flash the phone section.

hi,
in my case i780 connect on wifi but internet explorer don't work.
It only works when i an on data provider.

Thank you for that tip Solutor,
I will give it a try now.
BTW - is the Italian ROM newer then mine?
mine is -
PDA: i780DXHA1
PHONE: i780DXGL2
And, why if so, wy don't I install the italiam ROM as a whole (not just the radio part) and then add my languages?
and ...will it affect the Radio of the GPS as well?

Amazing!
You have solved my problem!
Thank you!
I have been working on this for a week now, and finally...you came up with it
3G is working and now even the GPS is showing some "living symoptoms" ( I still have to play with it more).
Cheers

Me too i have flashed the radio and the wifi works

I can now confirm that the device works flawlessly !
GPS hooks up in a few seconds (after an initial 5 minutes for the first time) and everything works superb! no third parties (port Splitter, GPSGate, etc.) required!
Soluter - you made my day!

Ive just tried to get the _phone part from the italian newer rom but as soon as i kill the mirage service all 3 files from the c:\ drive vanish too
Do you have any ideas as to what the problem could be?
thanks

Kill mirage from the process tab, not from the application tab.
Another way is flashing the whole italian rom, then flashing back the english one (as the one that is lying around is the pda part only)
BTW, I'm trying to upload somewhere the splitted rom, stay tuned!

Thanks for your quick reply. When you say turn the phone off do you mean switch to flight mode i,e, leave the device on? I did that but still get the waiting for device....
All I did was select the _phone file and click detect. Do I need to do anything else? Do I need select anything in the Loader section?? Sorry - I'm not finding as easy as flashing my HTC Touch!

no actually switch the phone off...select the phone part of the rom and then connect the phone and it should auto start flashing

Tried to flash the full image and successfully flashed all 3 components. Most importantly, hard-reset is functional! Thanks for the dxhc4
How to update the mouse drivers?

Then I flashed all the part. I get new Phone and Hard-Reset feature.

Instructions for what? How to flash the ROM? If so, take a look here:

Except that this image contains the eboot+PDA+PHONE, so you get to update everything
When I run mirage v1.8 and I click on pda button and I navigate to i780_DXHC4_Rev12.img the program doesnt see it. Should I decompress the img file or similar?
how to covert img file to bin file?

I generally connect the device when it's off. Then I turn it on normally and Mirage automatically starts flashing.
Does this mean you flashed your device twice? Once for eboot and once for the pda part alone?
Can you please explain in a little more detail how you did it? thanks..

Hi Hdubli, can I have download link please,
http://hidemyass.com/files/xv4GF/ there you can download build 28008 for E100.
The flash for me was alright. Some notes though: the setup of Windows isn't working 100%, it seems to freeze at some point and a dropdownbox wasn't clearly shown. Also, the screen isn't used 100%: pixels at the side aren't used. Also, there seems to be a margin for the letters, as some letters at the edge (still in the active area though) seem to fall off.
edit: seems like something went wrong. I get the top bar showing the icons, but the yellow/orange Windows logo doesn't disappear. Have to do a hard reset I guess.
edit2: did a hard reset and this time I disconnected the phone from computer. Everything worked fine now, except that the outside pixels (about 5 on each side) are still not used. But the dropdownboxes all showed alright and it booted alright and installed extrom alright . Sry for the confusion, very good job on the ROM! Will test some more .

To correctly have a good "start" after first rebbot, keep pda disconnetcted from everything.
After calibrate screen, extrom install all the cabs in the rom and after reboot it works good everything.
Keep in kind that the rom is tested (in italian) for 3 weeks withou any problems, let us know if need help.

Everything works fine for me too now. Thank you for the ROM, great job. Love the new build, it's much finger friendlier!

Hmm there is a problem with ActiveSync: the device doesn't always want to connect. The computer says it is not connected, but the device says it is. After some time or after trying to disconnect, the device just freezes. Annoying .
edit:.
Man hate this. It's really the device, tried 3 computers and they all refuse the connection. They say connecting and then disconnected, while the device thinks it's connected. Really odd, as it worked flawlessly before! Did a clean install and still not working!

Bro, this is bug issue, never flash your ROM before you ensure you get your original WWE ROM as default.....
Most importan part, no one is response when my first post, and "they" always told to "flash it, any problem is advise". <--- this part is very funny.
Not sure what you mean calvin, but anyway I reflashed with this custom ROM and it works again. No clue what changed, as a clean boot didn't help. But I'm happy again. And in case something happens, I still have the original ROM so not much risk for me.
edit: ooh no not again. After the first night, it was screwed again. Can't connect anymore :S. Hmm maybe I should go back to default then

Are You using Xp, Vista or else?
Can You check if ActiveSYnc is disconnected when screen goes black (timeout on backlight)? Don't let that Windows Mobile adjust backlight but set it!
In my case never found this kind of problem, but I see in various forum that 6.5 build in some case goes with this problem, for example I got that situation with Vista and with original rom 21840 build.
Apologies for the slightly off topic post, but I don't suppose you guys know of any updated ROMs for the beTouch E200 do you? Would like to get an updated version of WM6.5 on this thing...
The problem is that the computer (tried both Vista and Windows 7) doesn’t connect, while the device says it is connected. Then nothing happens, except that the device freezes after some time or says that any program I want to run isn’t a valid PPC application :S. After a reset everything is fine again, except that I can’t use activesync. This both happens with USB and Bluetooth connection. The connection is also lost when I power off the phone manually. But that rarely happens: it always freezes before I even get to that point and then it doesn’t respond to anything.
Also, when I unplug the device before it freezes, I get an ARM error saying I need to go to some specific memory address or ARM will break. If I go to that address, the phone freezes with screen off, if I let the ARM break (what the...?!) it freezes with screen on .
I just flashed back to original ROM. The first sync is alright. If it stays alright, then definitely the custom ROM can be 'blamed'. If no further is heard, then everything is fine again with original ROM.

[How To] Installing FroYo (non official version), from firnware I9000TGYZSJP2

First of all.... flashing might cause damages bla bla bla at your own risk.
Then, this firmware has limited languages: Chinese, Korean and English... Check original thread for more informations.
Everything is did I copying/pasting bits of information from several posts and people. I edited some and changed some in other to provide a convenient flashing tutorial.
**Prerequisites**
Samsung Galaxy S (I used French 8 gig version). Also reported to work on Galaxy S from Bell Canada, I9000M.
Any firmware.
-----How To Flash your Galaxy S with FroYo (non official) (this has been done using a French Galaxy S) ---
**Flash the "stock Froyo" Rom**
Put your phone to download mode (hold down: volume down, home key, power)
DO NOT plug in your phone yet, Odin / driver does not like it at this stage.
Start Odin3 (the one coming from the "I9000TGYZSJP2" archive, see below).
Tick "Re-Partition", check that "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" have been ticked.
From this archive.
Click "PIT" button and select s1_odin_20100803.pit file.
Click "PDA" button and select "I9000ZSJP2-REV03-ALL-mid-CL505946.tar.md5" file.
Click "PHONE" button and select "I9000ZSJP2_MODEM_CL_502703.tar" file.
Click "CSC" button and select the desired version "GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OZS.tar.md5".
Plug in the phone and wait until Odin finds it.
Click "Start" button and wait until phone reboots with the new software version.
**English Spoken**
Then when booted to "desktop": to set English dismiss all dialogs, on home screen go to home (blue, bottom right button..) then go to settings (2nd home screen, blue gear button) then to text settings (the "A..." icon) then the first menu entry and select English.
**Gain Root**
Download root files from here.
2. Extract and copy update.zip to the root of the phone internal memory.
3. Run Odin (the one coming from the "ZSJP2_Root" archive) with Auto Reboot UN-checked, loading the i9000_Kernel.tar as PDA
4. Put the phone into download mode and flash the i9000 Kernel.
5. Pull the battery. reboot into recovery mode and flash the update.zip you put in the root folder of your sdcard.
5. Pull the battery again, reboot into download mode again.
6. Run Odin with Auto Reboot checked, loading the ZSJP2_ZIMAGE.tar as PDA
7. reboot.
**Fix lag**
Use the .apk from the marketplace: "One Click Fix Lag". This has to be done on a rooted device (see above).
**Swype languages**
US English
UK English
Deutsch
Français
Espanol
Italiano
Nederlands
Portugues Europeu
Polski
(Chinese?)
Türkçe
**Quadrant scores**
Before lagfix, about 900.
After lagfix, about 1900.
**Known issues**
A few Force Close (FC) at the begining, but it seems that they tend to disappear the more you use the phone.
Looks like restoring apps and/or system settings with Titanium Backup causes FC on Calendar and Browser. Anyone noticed that too?
**Improvements**
GPS fix seems faster than in pevious FroYo roms.
**Open VPN**
As far as I know, and as far as I've tested, OpenVPN doesn't work on this rom as there is no interface for JPx firmwares. Binaries can be installed, but the interface can't. Using the tun.ko from xda-dev forums doesn't help either. Will keep trying... but not today!
**NB**
Thread still evolving...

My mistake. Doesn't seem to work on this CSC file. Edited 1st post.
you say "copy to /sd on the phone" for rooting
but actually it's copying to / while from windows, or /mnt/sdcard while from android (just for the sake of precision for anyone needing such a howto and would get lost like me ^^)

I did restore apps and settings using Titanium Backup (paid version).
Edit: actually I had to wipe, restoring apps and/or system settings caused FC on calendar and browser. Now everythings works fine!
So, is it actually stable enough for day-2-day use? Cos would really like some frozen yoghurt, but both previous jp2 and jp3 were just unsusable....
Just want to update everyone. This DOES work fine on the Bell Mobility GT-I9000M.
You can use the modem file included, and I have also used the modem file from UGJH2 and both work fine. I am going to stick with the UGJH2 modem however, as it is made specifically for the 850MHZ HSPA Band here in Canada.
OK upgraded my uk galaxy s no issues
Not sure if ill bother with the lagfix right now as it seems as fast as my previous JM5 with lagfix
Setup 3g access point for three mobile no issues
Will keep an eye on it for the next day or so then report back any stability issues
EDIT: Just rooted following the instructions worked fine, as i said im going to hold off the lag fixes for now as it seems as fast

Looking at the quadrant scores I'd say no.
I guess people without the 3 button recovery/download mode should stay away from this right ? Although it should technically be doable via ADB shell...
Official Froyo builds will come through Kies eventually right ? That should be safer...

You are assuming wrong. I did everything that is written in this tutorial as I gathered all the information for myself in order to modify my very own device.
One Click Fix Lag worked like a charm, but you have to use an already rooted rom (as explained in first post).
I'm jumping from JM6 to this froyo rom.
My JM6 had lagfix with EXT2.
When I flashed it with this JP2 rom, I didn't format my internal SD card.
When I run 1click lagfix APK, will it simply overwrite existing lagfix partition?
or create new one consuming additional 1.6GB?
even without the lagfix, this release is fast and snappy.
I can't wait till the real release of the 2.2
samsung has done such a great job

#1 reason is probably the force CDMA command in the startup.txt. If you're CDMA, you need it to =1, if you're GSM you need it to =0. Check that & get back to us.
thnx for helping

i am having ths same issue with sprint. Ive tried to check and uncheck the force cdma and neither work. Where do i actually look to see it its set to 0?

You are on Sprint, so Force CDMA=1. Also probably the number one reason you have no service is the SIM card is still in. Remove the SIM and re-try Android.

I have tried removing the sim card in the past and i tried again. now what happens is that with force cdma checked it keeps trying to connect and then disconnects 20 seconds later over and over. I try to access the wireless networks settings but because it keeps disconnecting it goes back so it doesnt have achance to search for wireless networks.
If i dont force cdma then nothing happens and when i search for wireless networks it just keeps and searching but nothing happens. any help would be appreciated.
So wifi has nothing to do with CDMA/GSM... Typically wifi gets hosed from people who update their zImage but not their modules - they go hand-in-hand and while you can run without the modules, stuff like wifi won't work at all.

Ok you're still not being clear.
I assume your issue is you can't connect to the internet via the cell radio? Thru Sprint's network instead of wifi?
Can you make/receive calls? If so, data *should* just connect, assuming you're using relatively new stuff. A while ago you had to create an APN manually to connect, but that shouldn't be the case any more...

How do i access the force cdma. I use some sort of booting app that allows me to check or uncheck force cdma and to choose overclock speeds and update to newer versions. I dont see any place where i can access any stratup.txtThanks for your help. I would really love to try out android. Sprint wont let me update to any other smart phone but the tp2 (not that that is a bad thing) unless i upgrade my plan. I pay 5$ for unlimited data

You don't want to know what I pay...
So I'm not sure how to explain this. Your startup.txt is a file you edit - where you run haret.exe from?
It sounds like you installed the cab, which unfortunately means you probably know nothing about how the system is put together, even at a high-level. Which is a shame...
With that said, assuming you're running v1.3 of the startup app, it should work fine. I cannot, and will not support that app. If you need support for that app, please go to sov's thread on the application.
If you want help on XDAndroid, then we can help... but we encourage you to search, read, research, search again, read some more, do a little more research, and then you may be ready to post. Maybe.

How to remove retail mode?

Hi,
I have a galaxy note 2014 edition that has retail mode on, it was a demo ex. Is there anyway to remove this from the device? Maybe through factory reset with stock firmware or something? Have no idea how to do a factory reset with stock firmware if that works.

Hi,
To do a factory reset: Switch off the tablet.
Then power it up by pressing simultaneously and holding : Volume up + Home + Power
When in Recovery mode move the cursor with the volume key and execute with the power key.
Select Factory reset and execute it.

Hi,
OK, the first thing to know is which device you have: Sm-P600/601/605 ??
Then to know which ROM is installed on the tablet ?
If you can go to setting : then scroll down to "About the phone" you should see the version of the ROM.
With that you go to sammobile
You put your device type and you will get all the stock ROM's
You click on the one you want and on the next windows you will have the URL to download and the way to install it.
To be able to download the ROM you have to register on this site but it's free of charge !!

Its a SM-P600,
Kernel Version: 3.4.39-1691324
Build Number: JSS15J.P600XXXUAMI8_LLK
I tried that site but canceled it cause it said it will take 15h to download the firmware.
You can try from HERE
But I am not sure it will be any faster.
Those ROM's are quite big > 1.xx Gb so if your internet connection is slow it's take time.

One more question, I can´t seem to set some kind of password for the lockscreen since the lock screen option is gone in some way. It says something about Knox but what is that?
Can i add some other app that handles the lock screen?
About Knox: it's some kind of security introduced by Samsung some months ago, a real pain in the back..
Have a look HERE (for example) for more details.
Yes you can install applications w/o problem.
Knox will only get involved when you start playing with the ROM's, Bootloader etc ..
Hi
Hello guys, I have an Galaxy S6 Edge Demo version, I want to know if I change the motherboard with another with GSM function, it will work fine ?
The digital finger print doesn't work, I have to change the button or how can I fix this ?
And another thing, in the background of display, you can barely notice a text, this : Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, this thing is from display or motherboard ? Because I want to know, if I change the motherboard, it will dissapear that text ?
Thank you.
I would like to remove the starting screen ''Live demo unit'' on SM-T800X tablet to the stock one, and after flashing I have got the demo pieces of text in the bottom of the screen.
I tried to re-partition the install with ODIN and used a PIT file but no changes. Anybody can help with this problem please ? Is there any solution to change the demo unit to look as a stock SM-T800 ?
Also if there any solution to change KNOX value to 0 would be great.
