Don't know if it's, as some people posted after flashing jph, good news.

since JPH is still buggy, they'd better work harder and give it some time

6 Days To supposedly release
http://www.timeanddate.com/counters...&month=09&day=23&hour=12&min=00&sec=00&p0=195

It wouldn't surprise me.. Software development is never a definitive process. It's impossible to determine how long something will take. Sometimes it takes quicker than expected, sometimes longer.

as i said elsewhere, if they cancel release and work on it further before releasing it's a good thing for us.
if they release the current version they will prolly stop working on fixing the important stuff
if they dont and delay further it means they have realized the "important stuff" REQUIRES fixing before release
in a nutshell:
- RFS performance (replacement would be neat but they are too proud of their own FS or smth.. weird)
- GPS accuracy ( /pray ?)
- Reported critical software bugs (exchange, etc)
Luckily they read XDA

Just a question - how is this question for development section?

Reported. Please take that racist [email protected]# elsewhere, or if you think you're THAT cool, show me what YOU can do better! Kernel patch to fix lag, stereo FM radio, longer battery life, etc. would do.

Jerahmeel Zacky Chua So Galaxy S was first released in SG... Are we the first to get Froyo too?

Samsung Mobile Singapore Hi Jerahmeel, unfortunately not. Europe will be getting it first. SG should still be getting at end of Sep.

Samsung UK mobile on twitter are still giving out the "end of September " answer on Twitter so...... who knows. I'd say samsung but I'm starting to doubt that!

We'll just have to wait and see right?
I prefer they another week or 2 to really finalize it and fix all the bugs before releasing instead of rushing for a release which only disappoints.

cheers man, I am personally not offended but some people might be a bit more PC

ontopic: i wouldn't mind upgrading to froyo knowing it had bugs, but at the same time knowing it would get updated within a reasonable time frame. the problem we have with samsung (apart from having to put up with their developing "skills") is that they are very quiet. you only find out about stuff per semi-dodgy twitter or facebook accounts.

very likely samsung is rushing froyo to pre-empt the Desire HD which ships with froyo. (and early previews seems to indicate a very mature froyo at that) and latest reports says the Desire HD may even ship a week earlier...so our buddy Mr Sam Sung is in a bit of a bind here....lol.
rushed the 2.1 to pre-empt the iphone4 and now trying to rush 2.2 to pre-empt the HD....tough being mr sam.

And then they'll rush their new gingerbread phone to market and forget all about their galaxy s customers..... :/

in a way i feel they will struggle from rushing so much...we will see

Maybe it's just how long it takes for every country to customize it or something like that. I read it somewhere.

Well if they forget about their Galaxy S customers with regard to Gingerbread, they wont be doing themselves any favours with a phone that's been on the market a less than a year.
I know new Android phones are constantly being released but Samsung will not announce a new phone as soon as Gingerbread is released.
The Galaxy S will still be a flagship product and companies will need to take a leaf out of Nokia's book.
Look how many people stuck with the likes of Nokia for many years.
Companies like Samsung producing Android phones need to start getting their act together with the OS, otherwise it'll end up as a one horse race and the likes of HTC will end up with the largest slice of the market.

I don't expect to see any proper froyo for SSGS in the near future.
However Samsung should at least release the official GPS fix within this September since this problem is already a know issue for a long time and they can have separate development between this and the froyo one.

the galaxy s line is selling very well, so i'd guess that they can not afford to let us standing in the rain when comparable htc/motorola devices get gingerbread. as to the froyo update: i hope they take their time to improve speed and fix the remaining bugs. at least for us 'power-users' (flashers) it would be preferable that they release an official froyo firmware (INCLUDING the SOURCE -> voodoo fix) but improve it further over the next month or 2...

According to this site:
- Multilanguage
- Ultra fast for an early build (I quote : "So fast that it looks like on WM 6.5 the Snapdragon only ran at half its power")
- TomTom is bundled with that ROM
- No SMS problem (They are referring to the SMS issues on WM 6.5 on most Leo ROMs)
- Zune part of the phone is not working on this ROM (error reports, etc.)
For the time being, no source/link to a ROM is provided, I'll keep you posted. But it doesn't seem like a fake to me.

That's what I figured as well at first sight... But then I saw that every tiles is translated in Dutch, as well as having a Dutch operator... I guess time will tell.
I apologize beforehand if this turns out to be fake, I thought I'd share it to everyone here.
it seems real to me i guess. i believe that the rom might not b working cause the os is not even half ready right now. its just that MS had to show something so they made a simple mockup jus to fill the presentation yest. lets see how thingsgo now and how much they grow this concept of windows phone 7 series..
If this is not fake, leaked Windows Phone 7 roms will be soon over the internet

No need for apology. You found a good and interesting site...
I think the good news there though, is that 'applications' still live on (TomTom) so the whole multi-tasking issue could be a non-issue as long as stuff still work in the background.
And at the end of the day it is running on top of CE6, so multitasking should be there, even if it's tried to be hidden away.
the background image ... dunno ... oddd
easy to fake and just display as an image
Some guy on a dutch site tests devices for htc. He hangs around, also on xda, as "xmoo". He stated dat htc is running WP7 on a hd2 somewhere in taiwan.
So it is definetely possible to run it on a hd2, I think soon there will be roms available with WP7 here on xda.
There's no reason to doubt that an early build has been made to run on the HD2. If there's any existing commercially available device that could be used as a test bed that that's it. Unless everyone working on WP7S gets prototype hardware to use, it makes sense to test it on the HD2.
Of course, that's a long way from assuming that the final version will be released for the HD2. (But then again, that's what this site is for. )
Call me crazy but maybe they'll announce a beta rom available for the HD2 at MIX or maybe later this year at TechEd? Similar to how Google had an unlocked G1 for devs and Apple allows devs to have beta builds of the iPhone OS?
MS knows that apps/hubs are going to be key for them so they'll be keen on getting it out to as many people as possible as early as possible. It's hard to write software, particularly 3D based software, solely in an emulator.
this is fake.
the show is in spain but the image says he is connected to T Mobile NL (dutch network).
everyone knows when u go to another country u use there networks not your home network.
It looks fake. The font on there is definitely not Segoe, which is used all over the Zune HD's and WP7's UI. Also, I don't think there's a background on the start screen, no?

They've never shown a background before but I would be sorta surprised if it didn't support having a background.
Looks like the same font to me...
This picture definitely isn't taken on the MWC. It must have been made in the Netherlands as you can see that it is connected to a dutch network. This would either indicate that developers do indeed get early builds to start development of software, or it is fake.
Now it would seem reasonable to release the software on a currently existing device which is capable of running WP7. This would be the HD2. This way developers can start creating and running software on the platform.
Fake or not, it is only a matter of time before developers should receive a build to tinker around with. We all know how important Apps are for the platform to work. I was however expecting them to receive those in a month.
WinMo.nl says that it's an early build of WP7, so that could explain the differences.
And the differences makes it even more possible to be real!
Anyway I'd love it to be real.

Since tom has posted this, most probably its real. And he is planning to release beta version soon.
What do you think is it real? If so it is a very good news for hd2 users.
Note:- I resized the pic so that its clearly visible.
if you consider that the HD was at first a WM7 test device.
and now HD2 is a MS Test Device. I would not be suprised at all to see this released.
Just because something is not getting an "offical" release does not mean anything.
I am not sure if XDA knows what the words "official release" means.
well pretty sure we knew it wouldn't be official but a test rom is EXACTLY what devs have been looking for since this debacle actually began
I can't wait for the release and that means the touch hd2 actually looks like a winner for me as the first wp7s device
but some questions
can one flash back to wm 6.5 or are we stuck
some more questions but good news time to blog!
I'm thinking this is legit. I was holding off on buying a HD2 but if this gets released, I'll be running to the nearest T-Mobile store.

im thinking about getting an android device instead.
very cool will pick up an hd2 if price is right. But will have to deal with edge as the fuhrur said. Maybe import from telstra.
What the hell? That's supposed to be the interface of WP7s? With those gigantic font sizes? One word per line?
What's the point of having 800x480 pixels if you use 60-point fonts? 5 lines of agenda per screen? Will it be able to display one calendar month in a single screen or will you only be able to look at 4 days at a time?
This is an interface for short-shighted people?
Hell, fortunately the people designing Windows 7 does not think that the people purchasing computers are 5-year old children, or 85 year-old. That is scared by more than 5 lines of text on a screen or having to think where to put their files.
I'm not going to purchase a new phone that is a tamagotchi for 5 year old children. Use have been using computers at home for 20 years, we're in 2010, not 1984...

Now there are also Youtube videos in the HTCpedia thread
well hopefully this is real. does anybody remember windows mobile on iphone?
Might be sensible to hold off from overly wild celebration just yet - I believe that if we do choose to flash it, there is no way back due to some fundamental changes in the bootloader.
Personally I'd be interested to have a look at it if I knew I could get back to something tried and tested again. Still, I'm sure the good people working on it will figure out a solution if we give them time and space.
I just hope it doesn't turn into an 'xda special' - a bunch of impatient ingrates hassling the developers to release it and then accusing them of being con artists if they don't do it in a timescale that suits...

Sense version of Android 2.2 to be released H2 2010

I can't say this comes as a surprise...

It is almost H2... actually that could be in two weeks, or in 5 months, so... pretty useless statement.
It means 11:59PM on december 31st

Not really.
If they optimistic about the launch being soon they would have said Q3 2010 not H2 2010.
They are more than likely going to release it around september (Going by the hero that may actually end up being September 2011 )
Thank god for custom roms.
H2 2010 could be as early as 1st July or as late as 31st December so a pretty vaque date.
Im counting on the mod community for 2.2 on my Desire, actually prefer the nexus GUI anyway.
Well rumours going round ( I now, already)
the next release of android , named gingerbread, is
due q4 2010, so would be nice for us to get it 2.2 before the start
of q.4
sweet fancy moses I hope this doesn't go the same way as the Hero...

That's the SDK build, someone had it running on the Hero as well. I'm sure it can be installed on the Desire but it isn't usable for day to day use. It's lacking a lot like the Market e.t.c.
In the next few weeks according to some sites.

seems like it, another HTC promise that will be delayed as usual.
gave up my HTC Hero and got Desire few weeks back.
I think Google would provide HTC with the new interface in the next few weeks. How long HTC takes to incorporate it into its Sense UI is anybody's guess.
IT corps don't give a range as wide as 6 months after the OEM product is announced unless they are not yet anywhere near release stage and not optimistic to release until the back-half of the time period mentioned. Standardized protocol by now; not good news at all
-------------------------------------
- Sent via my HTC Desire -
Hi all,
See below responsed I received today from HTC.
Thank you for contacting HTC.
We are dedicated to providing you with the best quality service and promptly responding to all your questions and concerns.
Here are some Frequently asked question regarding FROYO.
1.Why doesn't my HTC Desire have the Froyo version of Android?
We have been working on these phones for some time before Froyo was announced. In order to make these phones available to you as soon as possible, we had to launch them with the previous version of Android. However your phone will most likely get an update to the new Froyo version.
2.Will you upgrade my phone to Froyo?
If your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades.
3.When will my phone get an upgrade?
We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo. We expect to release all updates in the second half of this year but can't be more specific yet.
4.It took much longer than you claimed to release the Éclair update for the Hero and Droid Eris, how do we know the Froyo won't be delayed too?
We have learned much from our first software upgrade experience and have taken all that into account when providing this estimate. While we are fairly sure this timeframe is accurate, we cannot guarantee it 100%. We won't rush to release an upgrade that is not ready for you to use without fear of problems, but we will do our best to hit our target.
5.How come my hero or droid Eris isn't getting an update to Froyo?
We feel that the Eclair update we are currently launching for these phones offers similar functionality and works much better in the smaller memory size of these phones. Why can't you just release a Google experience version of Froyo for the hero or Eris? We believe our users have grown to depend on many of the features of Sense not offered by Google's user experience. We believe Sacrificing those features would be more of a loss than users would gain in the changes from 2.1 to 2.2.
6.Will your Froyo update include wifi tethering? will carriers charge extra for it?
This decision will be a collaborative one between HTC and our carrier partners. It will likely differ between models and between carriers.
HTC Desire will get FroYo in
- 1 month = magic / mission impossible
- 2 months = We will love HTC a lot more
- 3 months = It is about the right time
- >3 months = That's late
- >6 months = most likely
well we should stop guessing and start anticaping once the exact dates are out which shouldn't be far from now, i personally can't wait because i have the stock ROM, and 120mb to apps in isn't very convenient, moving them to my 32GB memory card is.

[VZW]Verizon Updates Droid X (9/13/13)

My first droid was a Motorola Droid X. Moved on to the X2 and then the nexus. I'm not 100% positive, but I think the X came out in 2010. Both the X and X2 were EOL by VZW pretty quickly. Which I thought was odd especially since the X2 was the first dual core phone if memory serves me correctly.
Anyways my dad was telling me he got notified about a system update today. I told him there was no freaking way Verizon sent an OTA to his phone. So it was booting and when it booted back up I saw that message. (Picture attached.)
So the Droid X just got what looks to be an OTA kernel update. I honestly never thought that phone would see any kind of OTA, ever again.
So what do you think this means as far as an official 4.3 or possibly KitKat OTA from Big Red for our phones? I posted a topic in that phones forum, but I figured I would post it here and see what you guys thought about it and if it means maybe we will get an update. Just something to discuss. If I'm breaking the rules mods feel free to lock this.

I don't think this belongs in the Galaxy Nexus forum for one, but there's absolutely no way it's even a 4.3 update, much less Kitkat.
Motorola long ago confirmed it wouldn't even get ICS, correct? Motorola during that time had a terrible habit of releasing phones that were practically EOL'd at launch (I know, I own a Droid 2 Global).
I can say with 99.9% certainty it's probably a small patch that does something like close exploits.
Yeah that's about all it does. Looks like it's a couple days old, too. Just got pushed to my dads phone today is all.
I just posted this here because our phone really wasn't updated that long ago by Verizon but a lot of forum members I see in different topics seem doubtful the Verizon nexus will ever see 4.3, let alone KitKit. I understand we're talking about kernel exploit patches vs operating systems here, but if they'll update a phone that old (just a patch or not) is there maybe hope they are working on our phone still? Maybe just wishful thinking? :/

Well, it would be on Motorola and Google to make the updates for the Droid X2 and the Galaxy Nexus, respectively. Verizon's only part is in their "extensive testing" that delays everything to ensure phones aren't doing something to screw with their network (but of course, Apple is exempt from these testing regulations, I guess they're somehow more trustworthy than Google).
So, it's not really Verizon potentially updating the Galaxy Nexus, it's Verizon accepting and pushing out Google's update (hypothetically- we don't know if they will bother updating the toro devices to 4.3+ or not).
This means that Motorola would have to make an update and submit it to Verizon, and considering they have already said the device will not be updated past Gingerbread, I don't think that will happen.
That's why I really only advocate getting onto a GSM carrier and buying an unlocked Nexus device from Google to anyone I know who expects timely Android updates.
The Verizon galaxy nexus will eventually be updated. Likely after the next update so WiFi auto connect isn't broken. Right now it is and that's a major issue.

I read about OnePlus getting new people to make a team to work on Open Beta for 9/9Pro.
I like that!
New team is not something to like. It might be good but also be a disaster. Questions should be asked like WHY????? are they getting a new team? What happened to all the revenue they made and how are they using it? Who is controlling the company, One Plus or the Chinese government? Why the delay to begin with. I realized DP1 was developers preview and not beta but why not allow Google updates for DP 2 and three. Who cares that Oxygen was not on it yet. Now that stability been reached with Beta, let's us Early Adopters adopt. I refuse to buy a Google Pixel love my one plus but was so excited that it allowed BL to be unlocked but I feel let down by OP. Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic to begin with

So, following this logic, this week OnePlus might release a new one.

I'd be more worried if the US government was running it like apple with the new back door.

Lol US government and Chinese as well because even though apple says they are all American blah blah but they are manufactured in China as well. Just all marketing etc
People get married, have kids, no more time to spend on Android. Priorities change.

I also think not only priorities of people's lives but also Android itself and the huge slowdown of phone evolution. Actual since smartphone sales slowed companies like apple and Google created smart watches to help increase revenues. They first used the old nostalgic movies like knight rider or James bond to sell them even though Smart watches cannot do anything close to what the movies portrayed. You can make flippable phones but you won't see hologram s coming out of your phone. I know we love to always think of our technology being limitless but that dam law of physics keeps getting in the way. So now they will start with AR glasses with WebView capabilities. And when that fails, which it will because who wants a HUD I'm their line of sight. In 30 years we will events have implants and chips that will help the brain and technology link. Isn't it Neurolink that exists now. That technology is decades away. Because again we do not know how the body/brain will react and now I'm having flashback from the movie Black Mirror.

Ain't no updates that can save this POS.
the support update page is only updated from time to time, it does not repesent the actual stage of the software.
At this point 11.2.8.8 is up 2 date. OnePlus updates bi-monthly.

There's closed beta testing so maybe devs are focusing to it. Sad to see no fix for Gmail notification bug...

I think the gmail app just sux. I've experienced the late notifications across quite a few devices personally.
Oxygen sucks because of google. The more google on it the more bad Oxygen will be.
Also the King of Bloatware, samsung already gets Androis 12.
And OnePlus release 9R or something...
They are starting the ultimate consolidation of Oxygen OS into Color OS. How is OnePlus going to manage all these phones? Do they even have enough staff to manage all these phones?
Unfortunately they only update bi-monthly.
I saw a user suggest on their official forums basically say "hey guys, how about monthly updates like your competition?" in a friendly way, and a mod basically said **** off and closed the thread. I wasn't impressed.
This was my first OnePlus device, maybe my last.
That 12 Beta debacle was ridiculous.
After having the 7, 8, & 9 Pro, I will be leaving the building as well!
Is this a joke? About month last update and now ppl are think this is over. How do u even can survive this life?
I like how people actually think theres a decent alternative to oneplus these days. At least not in the US. Maybe google if the pixel 6 is actually premium/flagship this time. Otherwise theres no other brand with an unlockable bootloader, which is how they get away with so much bloat. Personally im fine of oneplus becomes a little more like the others as long as the hardware is premium and the bootloader is unlockable.
9 Pro is my first and last phone from OP if they can't get they BS sorted out. The phone has horrible battery life, scrolling issues, and it doesn't get better with next updates. Also, wtf is that BS with the bi-monthly update scheudle? A device like this should be fixed ASAP, the users are experiencing problems and neet to wait, the hell is that policy? Would they wait 2 months to release an update if someone would find a security bug too? So stupid. Get your **** together OnePlus.
