So what kind of Numbers in Quandrant are people getting on CM6 RC1?
SetCPU ~ 600MHz
- JIT Compiler OFF: 406
- JIT Compiler ON: 475
im getting horrible numbers in cm6
but on a stock rom with custom kernel triple my scores on cm6
I am using Eugenes CM6 Rom and getting 867 on Quadrant.. what the heck is wrong with your phones? No SetCPU here.
I am running eugenes parting shot cm6 with dumfuqs kernel and setcpu at 768 and getting 9.1 on linpack and 1087 on quandrant!! The thing flies
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Don't remember the exact number but it was 1000+. It was under Droid X in the results. Using Eugene's latest with the newest kernel.
ill try eugs and see whats diff. im using Genuine CM6...
sounds like microsoft.
I'm running:
Kernel - 2.6.29.6-cyanogenmod
08/18 Nightly build - Build FRF91
How on earth are you guys posting those Quadrant Numbers?! Am I mistaken, or is the kernel not part of the ROM when I flash it? What's Eug's CM6 kernel all about? He has his own modded CM6?

ah... StageFright is disabled. interesting. I'll keep Eugene's CM6 with it enabled for now. I'll wait until all the OpenCore issues are resolved.

Well when I look at the main CM6 RC1 thread, my main purpose is to simply gather the ROM update info, not read several pages into it, and sift out all the people posting about their flashing problems. Had this info just been a simple note at the start of the thread, then maybe I wouldn't have asked this question. It was more of a POLL just to see what kind of numbers people were getting... it wasn't a "Why is my Quadrant score low?" thread. I wasn't even aware they were low until someone later posted a higher number.

If you think about this...kinda sad; Simply upon stock to stock comparison PLUS 2.2, our slides BETTER be rivaling 1st. gen Droids. MTS have more ram and a slightly faster stock processing speed (notice I didn't say faster stock "processor")
Cyanogen commented in the CM6 thread that it was because of a line in the build.prop that Quadrant scores were lower than before.
I know this is kind of unrelated but i got 432 on the ota, which is about the same as droid.

Which one do you like better? I'm not necessarily looking for best over clock speed, but actually better battery life. Any ideas?
I prefer kings kernels.. I haven't had good results on nets kernels lately.. cpu stayed at 100% a lot for me..
Kings scales just fine for me and provides great battery life.. I use his bfs #4 kernel.
Sent from my HTC Evo 4G using XDA app.
I've used nearly every one of netarchy's kernels, but am now using King's. My battery life is awesome on BFS #4, and everything is very smooth.
I actually prefer hero's baked snack kernel 1. It also has HAVS like king's kernel. Standby time battery life is about the same between king's and hero's, but for me hero's battery life is better when actively using the phone.

Stupid question, but what is the difference between BFS and CFS kernels?
I guess a better question is BFS #4 or CFS #7?

Google is your friend. But basically, BFS is supposed to be faster, while a little less stable, while CFS is supposed to be a little more stable (its older), but the trade off is the speed. I personally dont see much of a speed difference, but I still usually use BFS.
netarchy. Never had any problems with his kernels. Haven't tried King's yet, but the way I look at is, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

running net's kernel atm, but most likely going to switch. 4g doesn't seem to work for me, and it keeps saying there is a voicemail update, but won't actually let me install it.
I'm sure KingxKlick is a great guy and knows what he's doing, but I avoid his kernel because he doesn't actually own an Evo. I stick with netarchy because he's someone I trust.

Unistall voicemail from Titanium backup. Then go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7749762&postcount=44 That is the updated Apk for the voicemail. Hope that helps man. And for me I use Kingz and love it. Been getting some very good battery life out of it. And its smooth even when running @ 1.17 oc.

Do you have the latest radios?
The voicemail update (or lack of update, rather) is a ROM issue. It affects Fresh and others. More info and fix here.

hmm, thats weird. I didn't have the problem before i flashed it with the kernel. any info on the 4g issue? if thats rom as well, then netarchy kernel is fine.
edit: just did a quick flash of king's kernel. seems like the 4g issue is rom issue as well.
Kings has been amazing so far, i'm very satisfied!
I have used both and get better battery out of kings by a large margin. I am using the BFS #4 and couldn't be happier. I had the 100% CPU issue on nets last update.
Here is a simple thing for me: When I am running Kings, my phone seems cooler to the touch, no matter what I'm doing. On nets, it get warm, then cools, then warm. Heat is wasted energy.
I think lots of the meat and cheese in Kings kernel came from net anyhow, but I no longer has a need to flash a new kernel. Sticking with kings.

Like said above, if it isn't broke, I don't fix it. I'm using Netarchy's 4.18 and I'm not having the 100% cpu issue at all
Ok, figured I'd contradict myself and flash king's #4 bfs and test benchmarks against net's 4.1.8 bfs. Here are my results:
Fresh 3.1.0.2 / novatec 0003 / setcpu @ 1152 performance
fps2d:
net's - 54/2.69 attempt 2 of 3
king's - 54/1.84 attempt 3 of 3
linpack:
net's - 37.029 attempt 4 of 5
king's - 37.661 attempt 4 of 5
Nena Mark: Only ran once
net's - 15.7
king's - 15.5
Neocore: Only ran once
net's - 31.4
king's - 31.7
Quadrant:
net's - 1496 attempt 1 of 2
king's - 1513 attempt 2 of 2
Looks like king won this round. Gonna keep running it to see what battery life is like.
Netarchy 4.1.8. Maybe I'll try King's....but Netarchy is always on the ball. My battery is at 26.0 C on Net's and I've been surfing the web.
Will be using net's. It's like Kobe v LeBron

Is there a way to uncap the fps on the latest fresh rom. So far fresh is my favorite rom but the one thing that I'm missing about being on cm6 is the fps fix. So is there a fix?
I'm willing to switch the kernel if I have to as long as it's not going to cause any problems or anything.
Switch Kernal
Same here, once I switched to this kernal I couldn't live without my extra fps. I'm now using netarchy's kernal and it works fine without a problem.

Cool I was kinda wondering what kernal would work with this. I see alot of the CM6 guys using snap but I didn't know if that would work with mine.
How is netarchy with battery life compared to 3.2 kernel?
I flashed this onto my phone but my evo now is at 31.7fps using neocore on fresh 3.2. When I was on Cm6 I was getting around 47 so why is it that I've only uncapped my fps by 1 point?

It's not that it uncapped it by only one point, it's just that CM6 is quite a bit faster since it doesn't have Sense and the rest of the HTC stuff running in the background. Run an fps2d test and you should be getting around 55.
Don't quote me on this, but since the FPS fix is done in the Kernel flipz is not going to be doing this. His ROM's use the Stock Kernels it kind of sounds like he is not going to mess with them.
I believe I seen him say this or deny this on his personal webpage forums.
you are right flipz isnt currently doing this fix int he kernel since it is pretty much the stock kernel. You have 2 options KingxKernel and NetArchy kernel. I cant tll you for sure how battery life compares to 3.2 fresh but I have read both work with it. Both will give you unlocked FPS.
Snap kernel will not work with Fresh as Snap is for CM only currently.
all 3 to my knowledge (may have changed over the last fw days) are based on the foryo build not the new OTA that fresh is using. I would expect to see new updates coming in the near future to change this up (whenever HTC releases or source is leaked at least)
You start mixing and matching and you'll possibly run into issues.
3.2 has an UNRELEASED kernel from HTC.
Netarchy and the others with the FPS fix are using an OLDER kernel.
Do you want the new, or the old with the FPS fix?
As stated in all the other threads several times... When this UNRELEASED update from HTC goes PUBLIC and when the source code is available, then you will get FPS fix in it.
If you choose to use a rom with an unreleased kernel then put on an old kernel and run into issues, hope you keep your backups up to date.
I'm actually using Netarchy's newest CFS kernel with Fresh 3.2 and I haven't had a single problem. Battery life was the same as before, but I'm getting 55fps with a stdev of 2.3 in fps2d.

That's why I said possibly. Nobody has looked into the source code which doesn't seem to be available yet to really know all of what's changed. You may NOT run into issues, or you may hit just the right combination to cause issues. Nobody knows yet.
I, personally, need my phone on a day to day basis for business purposes and only "play" with it after hours. I take the slower, wait and see approach to see what's stable and fully working before I change things around.
I just hope this unreleased patch doesn't turn into the accidental PRE release of 2.2 where folks were in such a rush to have the latest that they ended up with a stale version and had to update again.
Have you guys checked the Fresh Updater, in it he has kernel choices... I was running kingz BFS#8 and it was lovely....you lose nothing and gain everything
Tired that 2 days ago.. #8 I had such bad fps. Encore of 18 and quadrant I have never seen such low numbers.. but not every phone is the same..

I'm using kingz #8 as well with Fresh 3.2 and have FPS of 54-55 and quadrant scores of around 1600 (overclocked to 1.15)
Well... I browsed through the forum, and I'm pretty new. I read some stickies and the "read before posting" but still couldn't find my answer. I'm pretty much a noob with Android so I have a few questions.
I know when my HTC Vision gets here I'm going with Cyanogen, but I don't know what the difference between normal, nightly and experimental is. Well Exp. is prob beta, but whats Nightly?
Also I hear you can OC the Vision/G2, pretty well infact. I was wondering is it just an app? And how would you test for stability. Oh and what is YOUR max OC on your Vision/G2?
Cm has a few options. You got the normal or stable version. Then you got RC (release candidates) which you will find pretty stable. Then you got the nightlies.....VERY experimental they are updated every night.......
I forgot your other questions but uhh i run oc at 1.8
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I use the stable cm roms because I have less trouble with it. For overclocking, you will need to install setcpu from the market after you flash your cm of choice. Then in setcpu its pretty easy to overclock it to what you want
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
as for the overclocking, there's a few methods to doing it. Some roms have a kernel already put in for it. Then there are a few update.zips that can be applied through your recovery loader just like you would install a rom. Then there's a adb push and install deal. Theres also a gscript module. If you're not familiar with adb or gscript then I would suggest installing a zip or a rom that comes packaged with it.

Just figured id jump in and link you with some literature to get you ready.
Your gonna need ADB to root your phone and other various things. So heres your starting point:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=ADB
Then you have to get root access in order to install custom roms:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=TMobile_G2:_Rooting
Then get a recovery image and install Cyanogen:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=HTC_Vision:_Recovery_&_CyanogenMod
Hope that helps. The good people in this forum deserve a lot of credit. Dont forget to give thanks and shoutouts.
Haha, well all my questions have been answered. You guys are defiantly more helpful than asking my friends (whom envy the G2 bwahaha XD). Uhhh as for OCing, am I going to have to run a stability test of somesort? If so for how long. I mean I don't want it to be like Prime95 on the comp, that just takes like 2-4 hrs to ensure stability.
Also, @shortlived, what do you see as your battery life for a 1.8 OC, seems pretty sweet to get it up to a lower end Intel Atom processors clock.

Best news I've heard today!
FINALLY!! woot!! can't wait for that sweet battery loving kernel!!
I wonder how long it will take them to get some new kernels out now? HTC took forever to release it. Looking forward to some new kernels.
It's about time.. now I can use the latest roms

I don't think so. The source code for the HTC kernel will allow custom kernels to be made for Sense GB ROMs.
Awesome news, I just got done flashing MIUI and Deck's and nanding back to MikG, damn the bloat, but AOSP just isn't as smooth and stable for my EVO.
"source"; This was already posted in general section hours ago; this news doesn't belong in development.
We cant for forgot all of those sweet Govenors...especially smartass; as well as the BFS scheduler and HAVS.
Ok I'm confused,
I thought we already had that???
Looking at SavagedZen 2.2.1 it says it is 2.6.38. with SBC etc
Yet the HTC just released is 2.6.35

To my knowledge, and others can correct me if I'm wrong, but Evo 4g on any current Kernel out there can be only overclocked to 1.2. Some people even are having problems at that speed, so I doubt going any higher would be beneficial. Not saying you shouldn't try, I'm just saying that it probably wouldn't be stable.
