Lockscreen App - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I'm currently using Jackos SmartMove Rom with sense 2.1, and I'm really happy with it. However, ive recently come across a few problems regarding the phone lock.
Basically i've been looking to find a custom lockscreen app which is similar to the default wm6.5 one but doesn't destroy the mem usage in gwes.exe. I mean, I'd be perfectly happy to use the default one if it didn't cause such a memory leak. I've tried s2u2 which, despite its high mem usage, seems to do the trick. But now I have began to notice that it gives me the screen of death almost everytime my phone goes to sleep (probably because I'm also using the overclock app, which i'm not willing to stop)
Now I would have been happy enough (albeit somewhat disappointed) in having to resort back to the wm6.1 lockscreen, but ive noticed now that while it is locked and I receive an incoming call, it doesn't automatically unlock or show me whos calling which seems somewhat strange and has caused me to miss important calls. (tried a hard reset and still the same - maybe its my rom? As this seems like a crazy crazy thing for microsoft to have implemented on their own accord.
I've also tried other lockscreen apps like throttlelock, but I'd really really like the app to overide the deafult lock (like s2u2 did) so I can click on start and select lock to get to it.
So basically what I'm asking is if anyone knows of any decent lock apps that are capable of this?
Is there a way to sort out the issue with incoming calls when using the wm6.1 lockscreen?
Or is there a way to sort out the memory leak with the default wm6.5 lockscreen?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm sick of tweaking my phone and have now (almost) got it to exactly what I want.

im currently using Mr.X Rom with co0kie Hometab Editor 1.8.5, using the HD mini lock that it includes and i have not had a problem with the memory usage or SOD with the overclocking app.
give it a try and see how u like it..

Simple Rom Question?

Hi all,
Ive been putting about 20 roms on my orbit and i cannot decide which one to keep!, they all have at least something wrong with them, my main issue is with speed. i try to write a txt and the taps lag and take about 2 seconds to respond even with batt status on 247mhz.
All im after is a nice fast rom that i can rely on. (i dont need all the fancy touchflo stuff and added programs but would like htc home) any suggestions?
thanks for your help!

What about Meschle's Vanilla 2 ? It's a clean ROM which you can customize as you want,
no TouchFlo Cube (you can enable Bioscroll if you want, but it's disabled by default), no extra software.
And imo it's very fast. If you want a clean ROM without modifications i would decide to use Vanilla 2.

your idea of a perfect rom

whats your idea of a perfect rom? whats it got to have on it? or is there already a perfect rom already? my idea of a perfect rom, basically has a great battery life, can run many games perfectly and has opera mini and doesnt suffer from hard resets.....
Well each use their phone differently. Personally what's on my signature is spot on. I have no issues as I run skyfire browser. Pushes email with exchange 2k7 I don't play games on my phone as it is purely a business device.
A light ROM that has a device update type program to add whatever you want. I would love to say something with M2D or something along those lines but I dont really like any of the options so far. I would rather have it clean and simple and be able to build from there.
Phone function should be fast
I have noticed few other devices of Windows Mobile 6.1, they don't have any problem with the dialer and phone system. Its fast and responsive but here in Hermes it seems its not focused. I am using Faria's Last rom and working fine but yes the phone function is same as before. I have video caller installed and wanted to stay with it otherwise what is the use of 3G network and video phone I have.
ok lets see...
Many problems arent rom issues like Hardresets sooo lets center on my point...
1.- Conections are the future... share is the pulse of new hybrid devices so...
R---- It cant has Bluetooth issues i would like to send from beam a file via BT or pair a stereo headphones without troubles, has BT folder FTP. IRDA fully functional i mean Push via beam and receive too... many issues with this becomes (cause its obsolet). Wm5torage without problems. Wifi without issues for WPA or WEP... Mmmm no issues on comm manager. UMTS HSDPA i dont have problems with this.
2.- Speed is the best way to feel power!... even if they outside are Devices with 200hmz are faster!
R----So I know the speed becomes with new builds even more and more... but it can be performed so much more with some tricks... and the Ram... needs to be intact... i mean no Apps running hide.
3.- The love comes from the Eyes... NEW UI please.
R---- The Icons needs to be atractive... leave the default apps by HTC work good (ok ok with their fixes like HTC home, WMP, etc etc) but with some skins. the phone with opal canvas is really nice. The bars and wall paper dont matters are cuztomizable... the start Icon needs to be a new one not the orb of new builds the BW or the Normal ORB... maybe a newone or Vista likely.
(M2D... maybe but i think it becomes great of flavors ROM one light... A full and a M2D... maybe One with the sidebar by Omnia)
4.- Performance... I hate Soft reset every 2 hours hahahaha
R----The OEM package doesnt matter... maybe the 20207 was the most stable... I dislike everytime make softresets... so i reed somewhere even the newer is not the worth!!! And please fix the PIE cause Skyfire experiments much troubles today they shuts off the sound
5.- Real BIg Storage PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we need storage cause many apps works much better on device memory.
6.- Office works fully many version dont works well... are the most worth it cause bussiness. and all the shortcuts please--- new sounds too.

Slow performance after WM6.5 upgrade

Hi, I have a Verzion TP2 and finally took the plunge to do the VZW WM6.5 upgrade.
Bad decision! I'm experiencing really slow performance and reduced battery life.
I like some of the new features, but the slow performance is not acceptable.
Anyone have any good advice for speeding things up? I know disabling sense UI will help, but then it would just be another crappy WM UI phone.
I did some searching here and wasn't able to find much. (Admittedly I didn't spent tons of time looking.)
Help is greatly appreciated! TIA!
Just put a custom rom on your phone and most of your problems are solved. And believe me, you never want to go back to stock.
THanks for the info. Not certain that I want to go away from stock because my carrier (Verizon) may get quite cranky & not want to support me or service my phone if something goes wrong.
I have an unbranded European version of the phone on the UK Vodafone network, so I'm not sure how much help I can be. But I thought I would offer some advice based on my own experiences.
Firstly I assume the version of WM6.5 you upgraded to is the Sense 2.1 version and not Sense 2.5? I remember when I first upgraded I immediately noticed a big slowdown in comparison to the WM6.1 version which flew. If it's any help, you'll soon learn to live with the slowdown and eventually it will become "normal" and it's only when you downgrade you'll realise the difference.
In terms of speeding up the device there is not much you can do, apart from reduce the ram usage. There are a couple of cabs which significantly lower the ram usage.

Secondly you might want to install an app called "memmaid" or "sktools" and disable certain processes and apps from starting up. Admittedly I don't really know what most of these processes do, but I've generally found these ones are ok to disable:
certenroll
notificationmanager
htcsipsrvc
gpsprivacy
softwaredisable
htcservices
dtpt
sqmupload
btagsvc
ssw
ussd
htcap
The same goes for startup applications where I have found these are ok to disable. (ignore the apps that are not installed on your device)
poutlook
speedbmonitor
delwmptempfolder
htcstartup
pkg
spbmobileshell (I have a switcher between this and Sense interface so dont need it on startup)
memmaidtweaks
superstarter.exe
Also, I remember seeing certain apps u can download from here that strip certain branded roms of all the bloatware. As my Touch Pro 2 is not branded, I've never used one and don't have any knowledge on them. But I'm sure someone on here will gladly point you in the right direction for a Verizon one. (If it indeed exists)
You might also want to install "advancedconfig" where you can tweak certain things in your phone to speed it up a bit.
I realise you don't want to go down the custom rom route, but unfortunately it may the only way to achieve what you want. I've now customised my official WM6.5 Sense 2.1 rom to how I want it (whilst waiting for my upgrade so I can switch to something like the HTC Desire on Android) and therefore don't use a custom rom, but I've tested the vast majority of the custom roms and I'm sure you'll find something you like. In your case, I'd suggest a hybrid of WM6.1 with the Sense 2.5 interface. If you can get your head around the lack of smooth scrolling in certain apps and what-not, you'll find a nice balance of speed and a very pretty sense 2.5 interface. (I personally couldn't get my head around it haha!)
I'd very much like to use a custom rom as I quite like Sense 2.5, but there was always a problem with the text message app. Be it the very slow "HTC Messaging" or the problem with the unread count after disabling it. I haven't tried a custom rom in a few months now so I'm not sure if this has been resolved. If so, can someone please let me know as I can't keep hard resetting my phone to test.
Anywayz good luck, and I hope this helped a bit. I don't come on this site too often but I will bookmark this page and try and remember to check it so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Thanks fade to black for your well laid out response.
I am also waiting to upgrade to the Desire next month but I am not sure I want to get rid of my Touch pro 2. I am so used to the hardware keyboard plus even though I would have had the phone for 1 year by 30 July, it looks brand new. Carrying 2 smartphones about is not an option for me. I have also just had the screen replaced under warranty after it developed newton rings. HTC returned the phone with the latest WM6.5 i.e. with Sense 2.5 and it seems very smooth. No crashes or nothing since I have had it back about a week now.
You're very lucky then as I still have a year left on my contract :-( Lol..
Yeah losing the hardware keyboard is a bit worrying, but i've not had the HTC Wizard, then the Kaiser, and then the Touch Pro 2. So to be honest I'm quite looking forward to a "thin" device for once. Hopefully will be able to get used to the onscreen keyboard.
You could always try waiting a few more months until HTC release an android device with a keyboard? Tbh it's quite surprising how they haven't already.
@Fade2Black101 Thanks for the suggestions! I have begun looking at things and immediately went for disabling the push internet because my memory is a bit tight. Well, instead of installing the CAB file I went in to manually edit the registry and found that it was not enabled in my ROM. :-(
I'm going to try some of the other stuf you suggested, but have not had time as of yet.
I probably shouldn't be, but I am shocked that Verizon released an update that brings the phone to it's knees in terms of performance.
was there a noticable difference in ram usage after editing the push setting? I remember when I tried doing it manually and it didnt have the same effect as installing the cab. So unless you noticed a big change, i'd suggest using the cab.
I don't have Verizon, but, if the rom's out there for Verizon are like the GSM ones, you can probably download the "stock" Verizon Rom, in case you need warranty service. Just flash back to the stock version before returning it.
Of course, if you phone is unbootable, then, you're pretty much screwed

I checked the registry and the settings weren't even there except for one and it was set to disabled. Also when I check the task manager under processes, opera isn't there. So I'm pretty sure that push internet is not running on my phone.

New Defy user, some questions

I just got my Defy today and started reading up on some stuff. I got a couple questions that hopefully someone will be kind enough to answer.
Firstly, I wonder if my back cover is loose, cause it seems that I can still push down the bottom part a little so I wonder if anyone else has this problem? Its not really noticeable but it really bugs me though I'm thinking to get a case anyway.
Okay, well I rooted the Defy using z4root and it worked perfect
I have a question about the task manager though, it shows a a lot of apps running but its says CPU 0% , RAM xx.xMB. Should I manually end task all of these apps or just leave it?
Last question for now is about my custom wallpaper not being centered when im on the lockscreen. I know it's nothing but little things like this bothers me xD. Is there a way to fix this? I disabled wallpaper scrolling so on my homescreen the wallpaper is centered but not when im on the lockscreen.
I'm still reading around about rooting, editing themes, and such..it would be cool to change some colors around. So far this phone is pretty awesome for my first smartphone/android.
Great forum btw! Thanks all
i can push my back cover a bit, but I think it's nit a problem
I was using app killer on my stock rom, but now i'm not.still cannot decide. Honestly, it'a good thing, and i'd instal it. I cannot comment on a wallpaper, I'm using the scrollable one. You can try a program widgetlocker, it allow more locksvreen tuning. BTW, you can cut your wallp, to the phone's resolution.that'd solve your problem
A taskkiller for defy is not necessary cauz u have no energy consumption if apps are loaded into ram - and there is quite a lot of ram available, while manually starting an app consumes energy every time. Only for data using apps like skype i use a task killer.

thanks guys.
everything is working great. Good phone

[Q] InsertCoin ROM - Killing apps too aggressively?

Hi all,
This is my first post here.
I have flashed the InsertCoin stable ROM 03/06 and I have to say it's great (despite the video playback bug). Recently I found another issue that bothers me a lot.
The problem I found is that the ROM seems to be killing non-active apps too aggressively. I learnt if I press "home" button in an active app, it should stay for a while until it is killed to free up memory. However, in my phone, the non-active apps are always killed within one minute even when the phone isn't running out of memory. Why it is an issue to me? Because:
1) It is killing the browser too fast. Usually I switched to other app, do some work, and back to the browser. Since the browser is killed it has to reload the whole page to restore the state. This wastes time and data.
2) Most importantly It is killing my music app!! I tried fire up HTC's music app, select a song, tap to play, leave the app and do other things like web surfing. The music app would surely be killed in a minute. This happens to other music playing app like Winamp.
This makes my phone a relatively single tasking one. I didn't install any 3rd party task killer because I never needed one. But I cannot find any settings regarding this "feature" on my phone.
I found people in this forum seeking help on how to kill some background apps. What I want is the opposite: How to prevent some background apps to be killed.
Anyone here has similar problem and has found a solution?
Thanks in advance!
on 1.0.8 i had no problems
on v45 (which is last 2D Rose version) you need to flash pre46test.zip in order to fix agressive app killing.
other than that i never heard of any complaints regarding apps being killed too quickly.
Thanks, dzumagos. Yes I am running 1.0.8 and unfortunately this happens on my phone
Maybe I'll try flashing the nightly version (v51) to see if things improve.
Whatever you do, don't use task managers and other memory scripts. Every developer makes his own memory parameters which suit his rom the best, so I think you are best off pointing baadnwz to this issue and see what he says.

The ROM has HTC's ROM manager built in, and I didn't have any installed by myself. AFAIK the only difference between the Stable and Nightly version is the Rosie 3D homescreen that is missing in the Stable version, so I flashed 1.0.9 and unfortunately the problem persists.
And looks like I'm not eligible to ask on the development thread
