I need help to restore my Htc Desire.
Problem is:
Wiped all and made factory Reset. Now i have nothing on my sd card and on my Desire.
The Desire only boots to the htc logo.
I have my backup of sdcard and i have also a nand backup.
Recovery Restore nand backup will not work because there is no nand backup(no files) on my sdcard.
How can i restore it with the pc? Will it work with the sdcard of my friend with my files of the Desire and than just restore with recovery mode?
Sorry for bad english. Im german.
Use a card reader on a PC to retore the contents of the SD Card (or just the Nandroid backup) and then do Nandroid restore.

Yes right but i didnt have a card reader.
Can i get via adb the nandroid folder to my sdcard of the desire?
To do this [HOW TO] Perform a Nandroid Restore via the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) (modaco homepage)
I tried to do this "adb push updates.zip /sdcard/updates.zip" to get a custom rom on the Desire but it wont work ad:not found.
Ok now it works i typed "updates.zip" but with "update.zip" it worked.

I want to use A2SD+, have an 8Gb micro sd card installed, which i have backedup on my PC but how to i prepare this for A2SD+?
I also have an old radio, how do i update to the newest radio 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20? i have downloaded the file but not sure what to do
can anyone help?
cheers and sorry if this has been covered but i couldnt find it
Easy way:
Once you root, install ROM Manager from the Market and tell it to partition your SDCard.
Hard(er) way:
Use ADB. When I tried this I just got errors about it not being able to find the partitioning thing so someone else will have to help with that.
how to use ADB way? isn't this sub-forum wrong to ask these?
should be only for development questions

Great thanks, what about installing the new radio? do it first or root first, custom rom then new radio? what order?
»You go into recovery (start the phone with volume down and power held down)
Then do a nandroid backup, wipe the phone, and choose flash rom and radio. Your rom.zip should be on the root of the sd card. It's worth backing up the sd card too and repartition it into 0 swap; 512mb ext2 and the rest fat32 form recovery if you want to use apps2sd.
So back up sd and phone via windows and titanium backup
then boot into recovery
nandroid
partition
wipe / factory reset
install rom
install latest radio
reboot phone
restore sd card contents & restore via titanium«
ok thanks
so just by rooting it doesnt erase my data? e.g. contacts etc?

Cheers for the quick replies!
Hi,
I want to backup the whole phone including the SD card and all the settings + the apps and to have a phone image that if I'll decide to recover I will get back everything as it was before. I have rom manager and my Desire is rooted with clockworkmod 2.5.0.1. It is unbranded with Hboot 0.80 and stock froyo 2.2.
Can you recommend any program that will make this backup (and then can restore back) and do it on my PC while the phone is connected to pc with USB ?
Any other good solutions for someone that doesn't want to loose anything (including apps, settings...) and want to try other rooms ?
Thanks
anybody...?
Clockwork Mod will backup the system and your EXT partition if you're using A2SD+ - other than that you can just back up your SD card to your PC...
ClockworkMod has the Nandroid backup option that works well for essentially everything on internal memory.
ROM Manager (in the Market) provides a few GUI options for the Recovery menus.
For the SD card, just simple copying to a computer (when you have the phone in Disk Drive mode) should do the trick.
Ok, but if after backing up the whole Sd card, I will install another rom (not my stock rooted froyo 2.2) there will be no conflicts between what on the Sd and the new rom ?
Hello fellow mates,
I am running Leedroid 2.4A2SD and I am having clockwork mod 2.5.0.1.
Yest a strange thing happened...As I didn't have any nandroid backup for my rom over last 20days,I decided to backup my rom with the help of nandroid...
So I went into recovery and started backing up..The process went on fine..The screen also showed that back up was complete..
As usual I went to reboot the phone using reboot option...But the phone wouldn't boot up i.e it stuck @ HTC logo...So I flsahed a new rom again and set up all the things as they were earlier..After this I again tried to do a nandroid backup and after backup completion and rebooting the phone, it stuck at Htc logo screen again...
It might be SD Card Error.
My suggestion:
1. Copy all of your SD card contents to your computer.
2. Reformat your SD Card.
3. Move your SD card contents from your computer to your SD Card.
4. Try to restore your nandroid backup.
Good Luck..
will try it and let u knoe

I've had this problem from ruu-ing then unrooting and doing an initial nandroid backup - it just bootloops. Only way I can get past it is to do the initial backup then reboot straight back into recovery, restore the nandroid I've just backup'd and then reboot.
Odd, happening with me on your version and 3.0.0.5
Hi all.
I have a clockworkmod problem -
Following an update i applied, i cannot boot past android launch screen. no problem i thought, i had just made a backup from clockworkmod )). So i rebooted into recovery, and selected restore - the clockworkmod tells me i have no backups (there were 3 backups at least there...). the sd card mounts to clockworkmod as i can see its contents when browsing for a zip to install.
I then went to reinstall the rom from fresh, but as i dowloaded through rom manager, i can only see the 7.0.3 cyanogen update, not the full rom...
So i'm stuck with my desire unable to boot - i cant copy over a backup or rom image, and there are no backups on my card (but there were!!!).
Any ideas?
ps , yes i have used search but can't find anything that'll help me.
Ignore.

You can always take your SD card out of the phone, and using a memory card reader (or similar), download a ROM on your PC and copy across to your SD card. Put it back in the phone and boot into recovery and flash away...
Good Luck

yeah i thought that would be possible, just don't have a micro-sd reader...
is ther any other way of getting data onto the sdcard without using a card reader?
What did you update?
You could use fastboot to push the ROM file to your sd card.
And / or use recovery to mount the sdcard.

i attempted to flash lordmod kernel + PUV mod. i knwe that the PUV can be problematic, so backed up before i flashed. the backup complete, and i flashed the kernel. after finding the kernel wasn't working, i went to restore and no backups there at all...
looking up restore via fastboot now. only problem i have a mac, but could run it via VM...
maybe quicker to drive to the store to get a reader!!
OK, finally got fastboot working on my mac, device recognised as "HT11MRX11410 fastboot"
i have nothing shown with "adb devices"
How do i flash a rom or a clockworkmod backup to this device using fastboot?
