first of all , hope to put this issue in the correct forum path....
my friend has a problem with the Pro2, as you can see by the attach , concerning the keyboard password lock.
His password doesn't works and also performing all the reset type , after the reboot the mobile starts with the keyboard locked (only emergency number is possible call).
he has reported me that at the first time, the mobile has gave to him an alphanumeric code to try to unlock the code but it doesn't solved the issue.
probably re-installing the software (6.5) the problem is solved but he doesn't want loss the date / appointments due the fact he has a doctor.
please help us.

it's appreciated also if someone know if there's a way to perform the backup in this condition
did he never sync the phone when it was working? If he did just do a hard reset and then resync phone with the pc. You can not preform any kind of backup in windows if you can not get into windows in the first place.

principal problem is that is not possible connect the mobile to pc in order to use activesync or other program due the fact the mobile is locked....and not save data has been performed before....

My HTC 3300 is blocked on Windows start screen.
I have hard reboot my device and un screen with 3 color appear.
When i plug my device with USB cable, my computer play a song to inform my device is well connected.
But when i launch Artemis USPL, a popup appear with the message : "No Device Connected : Would you like to try copying again ?" Yes, No, Cancel.
I'm blocked a this step.
Can you help me ?

USPL only work if you are in WM. It doesn't work at the booloader.

Newbie as I am I’ll try to explain to you what you should do...I’ve bricked mine artemis()but I think it is more related to hardware issue. You should try this:
1. Download mtty
2. Disable usb in active sync
3. Bring your Artemis to boot loader(pres start record +start phone+ reset)
4. Start mtty, choose usb and you’ll get popup up screen with direct access to your device.
5. Type this in command line of mtty (NOTE-YOU MYST TYPE IT/NO COPY PASTE WORKS)
Password BsaD5SeoA
6. You’ll get %indicator bar on your phone and then you can switch off mtty(do not disconnect your phone!!!)
7. Just start your ROM upgrade (it has to be factory rom if your phone is locked) and you should be ok.
(You need to have downloaded your original factory rom...For me it was O2 UK...do not start until you have it all)
If it fails, or you get some error massages, repeat all from point 2. Or follow on screen instructions...recovery etc...
If it fails,repeat,repeat,repeat....
Hope it will help you and save you from reading s... load of threads!!

It solved my problem: I've played around with some dll's on my Artemis and it won't boot anymore.
Just one thing: you must type password BsaD5SeoA, cause it's case sensitive.

i flashed an official ROM (1.12.405) using a SD card (512mb)
now i'm going to work with ARTEMIS_USPL!!!! WOOOOWWWW

I have the HP iPAQ 214 device and i'm facing a problem: it is not booting and giving the error: "A problem occured with welcome.exe".
In fact i installed a new calendar application without doing a soft reset after. When i tried to synchronize with my PC, i couldn't do it correctly so i did a soft reset and since the device won't boot. I did already several hard resets and i'm having the same error everytime.
So could you please help me, i've only had the device for 1 week now.

3: The sensible thing to do here, would be maybe to contact the application support (if it's a commercial app); freeware anyways most of the time have community-driven forums too.
Unfortunately I broke my screen so I bought a new one and build it in. At the beginning the touchscreen didn't work and I did a hard reset so that I could setup windows mobile again and align the touchscreen. I followed the instructions: align screen: Tap the target firmly and accurately at each location on the cscreen. The target will continue to move until the screen is aligned. Wheter I try it 10 times or more the Software doesn't continue with the setup. I tried to skip this part with a software but Active Sync can't establish a connection with the device so I couldn't use the software (Active Sync and the PC is alright it does work with another device). A possibility to solve this problem would be to flash a ROM again but the theft protection / flash protection is activated (software from FSC: FSC Password 2.00.06044) Is there another way to remove the protection without logging into windows mobile? Or maybe its possible to repair windows mobile? (of course except hard reset i tried this like more than 10 times).
note:
ROM image: Windows Mobile 6.1 Classic CE OS 5.2.20755 (Build 20755.1.4.0) WWE (Eng) from newplowe
Additional Software: SPB Pocket Plus I found out that this installs additionally a "save mode" Maybe this causes the problem. It should look like http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/uploads/images/pocketplus/Screenshots/08.png . When I start the PDA there is a sound and then there's a popup but it disappears immediately. I tried to press every button on the PDA but nothing worked.

I tried welcome.not file on sd card. Then the software acted really weird showed start menue changed screen all the time and now it hangs on boot screen . As nobody talks about how to remove the flash protection I think I will give up.
I have exactly the same problem and have found this thread looking for a solution.

I've got very bad problem. I've set password on Windows Mobile 6.5 in my MDA III. And someday it happened... I couldn't turn on the phone mode so I've used soft reset option in xcpuscalar mounted on device. At start it asked me for the password. I'm 100% sure I've typed the correct password (even compared with password I wrote in my notes) and it says that's "The password you typed is incorrect".
I tried several times and nothing. I tried even to hard reset (Power button + reset button), but it seems it does only soft reset (so I don't know how to hard reset it at all). I've tried to discharge backup battery, even took it of. Nothing helps. Please help me with this.
I want to hard reset, but I don't know how? The procedure has changed since WM 6.5? Or help me with solving problem otherwise.

the password bug is long since known. that's why it is generally better not to set one on a cooked rom. as far as i know there is no way to reset the password, so i would advise you to hard reset.
that is indeed done differently in wm6.5 than in wm2003
you have to press power +reset and then immediately press camera+record.
a menu should appear.
using the camera and record buttons you set the menu entries from "NO", "NO", "YES" to "YES", "YES", "NO" and press the mail button to confirm, after a little while the device restarts and is hard resetted.
Have the same problem, company policy is enforcing password security....
No chance to cheat that bug? Or any rom without that secured evaluation mode available ?

WM 6.5 lock issue
I have the same issue on my HTC Vogue phone, I haven't hard reset it because I can still answer calls, and I would like to synchronize 1 last time before I hard reset and have to reinstall all my apps. Anybody have a way of bypassing this feature? An NV item to change maybe? I can mtty when I boot into bootloader screen and "rtask c" to get into diag mode and access CDMA section of phone, anything I can do from there? The lock on CDMA is not the same of the WM 6.5

They enforce password security but let you flash the device with a ROM of obscure to unknown origin?

spades you nailed it again, exactly what i was thinking, plus there is still nothing new to say, that i didn't write in my other posts, and also, this is the blueangel section, not the vogue's we are 99% dealing with gsm devices here, nearly no cdma.

My phone is HTC Himalaya (XDA II) with WM6.5
I cant enter my phone. it keep asking password altough i entered the correct password.
And it doesnt confirm anything, like ur password is wrong.
the button is pressed but nothing happends.
My contact and my task are synced with exchange server, but i hav plenty important SMS in that phone...
Is anything i can do except hard reset the device?
Btw, i still can receive any call.
Last nite this phone is OKAY, the problem appeared in the morning.

as probably you are aware of the fact that this is not the himalaya section (which doesn't matter as this is a general wm problem), and since you posted in an older thread (which i assume, you read before) the only thing i can tell you is,
there are no new known ways around that problem but to hard reset or re-flash. i understand that people want to protect their phones, the password just does not work (yet)!
but to get to your real problem, i have never set a password and do not know if you can still sync the device w/o entering the password, but there is a neat little program called -=Windows Mobile SMS Sync 1.3=-. try that to back up your sms, but i don't know, whether you'd be able to restore them to the device. -=spb backup=- or -=DotFred's pim backup=- are programs for the ppc that are also able to back up and also restore sms, but you probably can't run programs, when you can't get past the password screen.
i hope any of this works for you, and i hope you learned your lesson, not to set a password in a cooked rom
