Looking for app to manage sound notifications - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I've got a TP2 that I use for work and personal. I'm trying to find some way to automatically turn on the new email notification sound during the day but turn it off at night (so I don't hear it beep for new email at 4 am.) I need to keep the ringer and SMS notification on at all times for work. Anyone know of an app that will work?
Thanks,
Bill

PhoneAlarm will do what you need. Will have to use PAHost if your running 6.5
www.pocketmax.net

Phoneweaver from SBSH will also do what you are needing. it is not free but well worth the $
sbsh.net

I use SPB Phone Suite. There are many profiles that you can have automatically activate according what you are doing. I have one mutes everything and tones down the phone ring while I'm sleeping, and one for meetings according to a calendar entry, once for bluetooth etc etc

It does not work on stock WM 6.5
No matter what you set,it still does not work. And there is no way to figure out how to activate the profile you just set...very stupid program, and it also complicates boot up on phone. It is unbelievable that is is created couple days ago,and is not fully compatible with 6.5
Also, when trying to set LED color,it also does not work. I removed it.

just set your email to not download during the night. im the same way i must have phone and text on at all times but my email only downloads between 7am and 9pm. no download no noise.

No idea why you couldn't get it to work, but it works fine for me. The only glitch for me is a special setting needed to toggle Bluetooth on the TP2.
Auto switches between work, home, meetings, night and car. Great IMHO.

Nice and simple. Just changed the ActiveSync schedule. Thanks for the idea.

I use Phone Alarm Pro on my Tilt without any issues at all. I use the today screen as I dont use TF3D. The Led's only have a few colors and I dont think they are changable on the TP2's.
You have to remember that the program is made to work with many different phones so all the features will not be the same on all the different phones.
I have used Phone alarm since my first Tytn. It is a must have. It was not created a few days ago but has evolved over the past 4-5 years.

VoIP and keeping WiFi connected while standby mode

I have finally decided to give WM6 a go on my Vario II and flashed it with latest 1.40 Olipro bootloader, 1.38 Radio and LVSW WM6 OS (btw, BIG thx for MrVanx for really great tutorials!).
In addition, I have installed VoIP application (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299950 ) which I found pretty interesting, however it's also pretty unusable as WLAN connection goes down together with VoIP service while Hermes enters standby mode. I have found solution (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=245773 ) which unfortunately seems to not work with WM6. After applying Default={'0', '1', '2'} values, whole device completely hangs after resuming and the only solution is soft-reset by stylus. I've also set AllowSuspend=0 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Parms, but it also does not keep WiFi on. Basically - I cannot effectively keep WiFi and VoIP up, which make whole VoIP application totally useless.
Did anyone manage to resolve this problem?

You'll find that if you kept WiFi on all the time, your battery will last about an hour (or less).. so... it's by design that WiFi shuts off when the phone drops into sleep mode.
I thought that WIFI used less energy output then Bluetooth and I've used a bluetooth headset on a phone call that lasted well over 3 hours and still had plenty of battery to last the rest of the day. Aside from 90% of the day I could easily keep the phone on charge (It's used on charge at home, work and in the car)

Yes, I am aware of that, as in every single topic I've found regarding this problem, there are zillions of posts saying about poor battery, but rarely anyone is coming up with actual solution.
Anyway, battery life is obviously a big downside, however without keeping WiFi on, there is absolutely no point of having VoIP application at all. I would be pleased to have fully working VoIP in my Hermes, as my first tests showed it works quite fine and could be excellent cost-saver international phone calls.
BTW, I'm curious how VoIP app works in official release of WM6 (not xda-cooked ROMs) - I cannot believe that VoIP configuration must be done by preparing XML/CAB file with settings, and WiFi goes down together with VoIP, making it useless. :-o
What about using a Screen Off utility like the ones used to keep Windows Media Player Working while turing the Screen Off. Then you would also need to go to the Battery Applet and unCheck the StandBy option.

My guess is the official release will be something lame - only enablable by phone companies - i.e. Cingular will start offering Cingular VOIP where for $5/month more you can make unlimited calls within the U.S. (or insert your local country) on Cingular voip without using your minutes or something like that. The VOIP settings will be pre-installed by the carrier and you will be "unable" to change them yourself. I really have no idea if this is actually the way it will work but it tends to be the way that potentially cool things like this pan out :S

VOIP is good on 3g as well(we currently use 64KB for a video calls! voice only will be much less, data costs will be much lower then minutes while calling long distance for example).
use it like this:
1. initiate the call yourself(turn on the WIFI)
2. use your DATA plan for long distance calls(out of country)

That's right, however any VoIP usage is strictly forbidden in my data plan (T-Mobile UK web'n'walk £7.50 option), and I don't want to risk any fines or anything for misuse of the service...

Why dont you do that Eva_d ?
Also, like mentioned before, wifi will murder your battery, but if you want to use VoIP for home use only, or office desk, then you can simply have a an extra long USB cable to constantly charge the phone. In the "backlight" settings, you can chose to have the phone ALWAYS-ON when plugged into a charger.
That way, you'll have a "home phone". All you'll have to do is unplug the charger if you wanna talk on the phone and walk around the place wireless

Well, I found different solution. Using PocketZenPhone I have created 'VoIP' profile, which does not switch device off at all. So, when I plan to make or receive call through VoIP, I just switch that profile on, then WiFi and that's it. Maybe not very convenient, but works fine for me.

Just purely out of curiosity, how does your battery life do leaving WIFI constantly on - can you make it through the day? If so what do you have left?

I neved used WiFi for whole day. I only switch it on when I need to call through VoIP. For everyday internet use I have T-Mobile's WnW package.
However, I must say - WiFi drains battery REALLY fast...

Phone Suite vs Phone alarm

It would seem lots of us like these type programs. Neither one seems to be working great with WM 6.0.
Here's my issues using latest beta of Phonealarm: loosing graphics on reset, sometimes the today plug in doesn't appear. Alarms seem to work and profiles seem to switch correctly.
Also just feels unstable.
Trying PhoneSuite from SBP. Starts fine and runs well. Like the photo dialer. Major issue: only one time based profile; can't see the current profile icon or change it if I click on the space where it is (though dropdown list appears); Caller ID doesnt work with incoming calls, but offers to send SMS to missed calls.
Anybody else having these type issues?
I have been messing with profile switchers and whatnot for sometime now. Typically haven't had too much trouble with Phonealarm...however I know what you mean when you say...just feels a bit unstable. Probably comes from using it long enough to have had some bad betas...so it just gives you that feeling...
I am trying the new Phone Suite from SPB...not bad, but it seems a bit limited as you have mentioned with the profiles. Plus, I am using Mobile Shell right now and you get messages, missed calls etc on the today "Now" screen, the only drawback with Mobile Shell or their new Phone Suite for that matter is they don't show you number of Voicemails, Phone alarm is the only one I have seen that does this. I do like Phone Suite's photo contacts integration...that is pretty cool...so I am still messing with it a bit. For a profile switcher...I am currently using PocketZenPhone v6.103 (doesn't have the missed call, SMS etc but that is what the Shell Now screen offers). This appears to be really nice so far. Lots of custimization, profiles switch quickly and you don't have to have a today plugin..you can have it just as in icon in the bottom toolbar.
Hey on another note. How is Black 2.5 running on your device? I have 2.0 on mine and love it, just recently lost my camera function for some reason and was thinking about flashing my device to 2.5 and hope it comes back.

It's a stupid bug in lots of WM phones, this happens occasionally on Black 2.0 and used to happen when i had a Prophet.
but there's a little workaround.. when the phone booted up and started to load the today screen, just quickly press the Windows hard key twice !
Im running phonealarm 1.6 beta 13 (build 134) and have experienced no instability or today screen troubles?!
I have had no problems with PA ever!? The latest beta (14 build 138) however is very unstable...but its a beta so doesnt reflect the final product!
did some more checking. they are up to 140 but its got issues too. 139 was reported to be more stable.
they are aware of the wm6 issues too. maybe 141 will fix it.
Black 2.5 with buzzing add on is running fine. I went up from vanilla (custel's) Black 2.0 and did not have any problems aside from PhoneAlarm.
i just use o2plus 2.3
profiles are there, meters, launcher with tabs, can customize profiles/wifi/bt at certain times etc.....
only 300kb footprint.
This one?

O2Plus won't load without O2 connect, is there a work around.
Only downside to O2plus vs Phone alarm for my purposes, is I like to be able to assign different or no sounds to emails/text alerts depending on the active profile. If I set the ringer to nil, (ie a silent profile) will that kill the email notification too? (I will check later but am going to be tied up for a while now
PS - Scrog, search for the 'amended' version i n fact, I seem to remember JJ posting it somewhere in the last week or two?

Try Pocket Zen Pro. I had issues getting this to work on my Softbank X01HT when it was Japanese WM5, but seems to work great on Black 2.0 / 2.5.
The today screen is pretty much only profiles + some time / operator information, but it is just as customizable as Phonealarm with regards to setting different sounds for different profiles, etc.
The "Today" element is very minimalistic which I actually like after I got used to it.
Actually, you can configure the "Today" element to be just a single line on your screen; i assigned a hardware button to change profiles and it is much easier to use than phonealarm in that respect.
http://www.pocketzenphone.net/PZPForum/index.php
what about Photo Contacts Pro 5?
did you try it?
it has some features PA dont have...
what say you?
Phone profiles pro
Had never heard of it.
Have currently dropped back to O2plus. Am going to try out Pocket Zen Phone, and then maybe PP Pro. Have you used it on WM6 (Black 2.5 in particular)
I like PhoneAlarm and never had problems with it except for some skins that allows direct WIFI on/off and are not compatible with the new connection manager (the Trinity one). Have tried the SPB app but it is useless for me cause it has only one time based profile and I use at least 3 time based profiles. PA has more options and is much more useful...comparing to SPB it use 2mb of storage PA use only 900kb of storage!
Regards,
Primoz

Yep, currently using it with Black 2.5 however, this is version 5, and not 5.02, which should be a little better (Photo Contacts Pro).
features wise, it has things that i prefer than the others.
I will give PA another chance although it doesn't deal "right" with "Reject calls and send SMS" or with the Profile based on User or Category.
PZP
Guys,
PZP does it for me.. VERY lightweight and all the different notifications per profile. See the website - zendrui dot free dot fr

Ive been SRing all day! Mines been freezing on my telenav and sirius. Just started to do this today. Has been fine since Friday as well.
Yeah, same here. I have to do a SR every time I get in my car
Looks like I'll be installing something else on it...
I have been having IE problems connecting, Bluetooth not connecting, 3G freezing. Must be a bad day for Majik.
Well well I`m not alone on this, well vp3G here I come.
I am having this problem as well, what worse is that I am away from my PC for 32 days! on business in boston and all I have is a mac, even worse is that Igo keeps losing GPS whenever it shuts off Bluetooth, isn't there a registry hack that enables power-save on BT, I think I enabled that before and had a similar problem in WM5

Oh man I feel for you. I`m not sure about pwersetting for b, but it would make sense to me.
Had many problems with Majik yesterday so I tried 3 other roms. Not one would give me 3G sitting here in my office as majik had done. Flashed back to Majik and is working very well. I guess vevery week reflash
People, the root of nearly 70% of problems stems from 3rd party apps and NOT the ROM......
suggest you guys test it out with no apps installed and you will see the ROM is solid.
anything with 'spb' in the title should be left at arms length.
Anything like phonealarm etc... that claim to support WM6 really are only going on beta testers...remember the releases we are using are VERY new
Had nothing spb installed. The biggest issue is the BT disconnecting all the time. And the phone frezing.

I've got 5 8525's running this Majik and only one has "freezing" issues... and he had these same issues with his Wizard. 2 POP3 email accounts being polled every 30 minutes, Exchange 2003 push and 140 plus reminders MIGHT have something to do with it <sigh>
Battery life is incredible, speed is great when one adjusts the glyphcache.
As with you, my biggest complaint is with the BT dropping the call to the device but then I can bring it back up… seems to happen mostly on my initial outgoing call….
Again, respect to the chefs, this is a bad ass ROM.
Peace, out.
Hi Guys
I have been running LVSW 20070423 since it was released. Yesterday i decided to give Majik a go. All i can say it is terribly slow. Even clean ROM without applicvations. Could only stand it for 30min and then i reflashed LVSW back. The other thing is default coulors, i could hardly see my screen when outside. Dialer is crap, i like native WM6 dialer when you can type a few letters and then hide the dialpad. In Majik there are 4 lines only and if you have a lot of contacts it is a real pain to scroll through.
No good for me at all.
Will stick with LVSW ROM until the official release.
I have installed, Sirius, Voice Commander, Adobe, Live Search, WLM 1400, and esmertec. I tweaked the performance myself and set up mms and MEdia net and ISP/WAP settings myself. After I reinstalled Majik I have had no problems. I think that those problems came from WLM and IE because of the IPhone owners taking up my bandwidth
Note....Everybody that had problems was the same day they released the IPhone and we are all on AT&T
Check it out
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/07/03/stingy_att_iphone_network_snafu/
Second Flash
I think I had a bad flash the first time around.
I reflashed yesterday and the speed problems have dissapeared.
I was waiting +/- 20 seconds for /windows to open using file explorer.
That's all gone now and the ROM is pretty nippy and stable so far for my application.
But I do feel that all the extras trying to mimic the "Touch" ROM will have an effect on the speed and maybe stability.
That's why is still flash a different ROM every week or so.
To date Sleuth seems to have the combo nearly right.
LVSW cooked up fantastic ROM's, but he seems to be playing with his ELF now. - a bummer for us Hermes users.
Majick slowishness
I've found that installing the video dialler (3 cab files) dramatically slows down the Majick rom. I thought I was imagining things so I hard reset and repeated the excersise a couple of times with the same effect.
I leave the video dialler off now. I can't think of a time that I've ever used it although I do obsess about having a feature on my phone that I can't use even though I never use it.
Although Majick is an excellent ROM I did find the current LSVW was a bit quicker. The HSDPA problem in this ROM meant that it was a no-goer for me though.
I'm not complaining you understand, I'm very grateful for all the work people have done to get me WM6 on my phone!
only problem i have with majic so far is that when I add the new internet 3G connection, my username and password never seems to get saved no matter after how long. i have tried to both soft reset and power off, but still the 3G username/password never gets saved. anyone have any ideas on this?

Some thoughts of the Official O2 WM6 ROM

Although the User Interface is not as good as B&B, But I like to keep it simple.
After hard reset:
Storage Total: 54.09 MB, In use: 6.33MB, Free: 47.76 MB
Program Total: 47.90MB, In use: 23.18 MB, Free: 24.72 MB
Pro:
Faster than WM5, programme switch speed, opening Windows folder is much more quicker than WM5. Battery looks last longer than WM5 (or might have a problem with the battery indication software, consumed 6% on standby over 7 hours.)
Con:
1, still has the Wireless connection problem that will not be able to disconnect WIFI throught Today's screen.
2, very irritating that MSN messenger has to download my MSN email contacts to the phone's contacts.
3, X-Button not available, the HTC X-Button 1.5 not working properly with this ROM, causing system crash.
4, First charge stucked at 88% and orange light, soft reset, back to 100% and green light.
Still testing.......
Edit: Pro: I like the new phone "contact" system. a new number can be added to my existing contact more easily. Also, the contact's total call time and number of calls is very impressive!
Edit: Neutral: MSN issue, updated on page 4.
Edit: Pro: you can add an unknow missed number to your existing contact.
Hmm - my experience on installing the new O2 UK WM6 ROM:
Con:
1) Noticeably slower than WM5 to do almost anything
2) Wasted a whole evening reinstalling and reconfiguring all my applications
3) No useful new functionality
Pro:
Nothing yet.
I installed it yesterday evening, after installing it, it seemed a bit slow. Now i got it all set up it is pretty fast and works allright. Only software I installed extra was spb diary.
Only thing i find annoying is that you can't disable wifi from the icon on the today screen. But there is a shortcut to the com manager on the o2 plug in so it makes up for it.
o2 rom has got some nice tools on the today screen like the profiles, meters, you can see the last call on the today screen also there is a today plug-in that shows the applications that are running, you can also end them from there. So its same as x-button. You can find it under the custom 02 today plug-in setting.
But still waiting to try out B&B4.0 with the touch flow.

anothe rthought of O2 WM6
Well, I before I went to bed aroudn midnight (UK time) I thought I check the O2 site and bingo the link is back there. 5 minutes download and 10 minutes later WM6 running on my XDA ORbit.
1- much much snappier. Opening folder, program, setting, contact, emails, explorer etc... has a whole lot new feel to it.
2- GPS works faultless with tomtom.
3- got rid of O2 phone skin and restored the OEM phone skin. Prettier and snappier.
4- I dont want the the x button to close application. I do keep few running such as email, explorer, contacts, and calendar. O2 provides a simple application to view/close running applications. I also, use Explorer 2007 which has the same functionality.
5- cannot close wifi from today screen. Minor inconvenience.
6- Office applications updated.
7- Explorer still works (LOL) and believe I tried Opera and other and I always go back to Explorer. It renders the screen better. Sure no tabs but I dont use them on my mobile, on my desktop yes.
8- Emailer you can now see html - a great boost for me as I need it (you can still block images if you wish) and very useful. Previosuly I use Qmail which I think is the best but lets give the emailer a chance.
9- I heavily use msn and voip and they work faultless (even when conncted to Activesync) I can still sue my wifi for voip.
10- battery comsumption seems to be the same. Battery Was 95% when went to bed (tested email, explorer, windows live etc...), 9:30 am it is still 88%.
11- I like the encryption facilities and finally I can encrypt my files on the storage card natively. Previously I used Cryptainer LE (free).
12- Internet sharing works (just make sure your connection is secure).
13- wireless security are all there as before (wpa-wpa2-wpa2-psk etc..).
thats it really. No major new things, just improvements and the OS definitely faster and less memory hungry.
Still testing it of course ...
Where's the terminal services client? Have they removed it? I've seen a seperate install for it somewehere.
Also, I assume I don't need the storage card fix from HTC for this?
Don't have anything new to add that hasn't been said already.........except that i don't like it. Been using B&B3.7 until last night. O2 WM6 seems like a step backwards from this ROM, not sure why.
terminal services
Terminal services gone and rightly so. What is the use of it on a phone without a keyboard and 320x240 screen (YMMV) ? Now, if I am using the king of phones (XDA Exec )with the best keyboard then I will miss it.
Well I have 2 GB sotrage and I am keeping an eye on it. Lets hope we dont need the fix ;-) (Of course I have backed up everyhting three times just in case.

The WM6 build from O2 contains the Sd card fix so no need to add this to the build. The issue with not being able to turn wifi off from today screen is in all WM6 builds not just Orbit.

Ok im pleased with this new 02 rom now, but i will have to try the new B&B 4.0 when i comes out. can't wait for that.
I have noticed one very small odd thing though, when you go to select a new text message alert, there are 2 x dogbark, 2 x ding and 2 x alouette ?
otherwise fine....
Updated no problem, got the wifi problem from the today screen, also my bluetooth isnt working, anyone else got this problem?

Yes I am afraid it is not possible to disablethe wifi from the today screen, you will have to use the comm manager.
What problems u have with bluetooth?
I have beentesting it, like sending files, images, headsets and no rpoblems at all.

Just one thing, you probably know that, receiving files via bluetooth is disabled by default. You will have to enable it via the registry.

I never setup the GPRS, when it asks on first hardset screen, I always unticked the option. Though, I think you can turn it off by:
O2 Operator Settings--> tick the "i want to do auto configuration now", and scroll the underneath menu down, choose "remove all settings".--> click the top right "OK", done.
and to think that no one has mentioned abotu the new looking solitaire? are your priorities not right??? (just kidding )
Phone working great on WM6 for me - some real response improvments in places. TomTom working good from SD card too - new reinstall required there. Hell - I even like the 02 additional software for a change (like I did with WM5 on the orbit - unlike their today screen stuff on XDA2i....)
So that's at least 1 happy customer...
(and in fairness - their billing dept has been very helpful to me since a billing error - I really can't fault them there)

Press the Call 'End' (Red Color) for 3-5 Seconds and it Disconnects GPRS.

automatic profiles, ricky's rom v24

trying to get automatic profile to work on ricky's rom 24, doesnt cooperate with me. anybody know of a fix??
(automatic profile is where it uses your calendar to determine wether youre free or not, and uses vibrate or normal respectively)
i rely on this profile cuz i always forget to switch back and forth from vibrate
Seems to work for me. I am on Kavana 080408. I tried after seeing your post and thus far in three of my meetings it switched to vibrate mode as per my confirmed appointments.. and then came back to normal mode at the end of the meeting. What does it do for you? No switching or one way switching?
Can either of you point me to where the application is that controls this?
i get no switch at all
That is weird I am using Ricky's version 24 vanilla rom and it works perfect for me... That is really weird that it is not working for you... I would maybe update to another rom if possible.
