What is the build number of the final version? the version that is shipped with the new WM6.5 phones.
All of the cooked ROMs that are available here, are based on leaked beta versions of WM right?
There is no final build yet.
For example - HTC PURE came out with build 21847 and HTC LEO with build 21864.
There are cooked ROMs based on these builds, so in some way these are final from HTC for now.
AT&T Tilt 2 (AKA Rhodium, Touch Pro 2) comes with 5.2.21849 stock.
Build numbers which are equal or greater then 21000 are WM 6.5.
Those with 23*** are WM 6.5/7 test ROMs where MS is trying new UI techniques (the same is with 219**). Check AKU is another way. You can extract the info using build #. It is in the format of (xxxxx.5.x.x). First five digit is the actual build #; number 5 after the first dot maps to the so-called major AKU version. Build 21215 is the RTM (or RTT) build. So, if build number is greater than 21215 and major AKU version is 5, you are running WM 6.5.
My Sprint Samsung Intrepid came with build 21743.5.0.26
Desperately waiting for an upgrade... 6.5 in this state is pretty crappy... it looks like such a kumudgeon... half of it is for finger use, half for stylus... using the directional pad is slow... just seems really sluggish compared to my treo 800w...
OK

I know there are a lot of people trying to figure out what the differences are between each rom and I def do not.

WM LVSW Edition (26-3-07) (Poll 2)

WM VI Black Edition v1.2 (Poll 3)

This is what I am using b/c it diff looks cooler with the nice BLACK interface hence the black edition!
Lvsw Rocks
LVSW is the bet rom
it has no third party apps and is very clean
no issuse what so ever
only prob is the call volume drops for a sec or two
KEEP UP THE Good Work
I'm actually only using LVSW Edition (25-3-07) with the commgrfix installed separately, i didn't see the point in flashing the whole OS again just for that
exactly like here, but for new users - there is one more problem resolved in complete RUU without necessity to find the solution for commgr problem

So basically I am seeing that people perfer the LVSW --- I mean as far as features/pre-loaded software/calls.
Are they all the same? Does one ROM offer better calling features/quality over the other?
So far it is LVSW yes, but Black version 1.3 is out soon, and a number of us are beta testing WMXL v0.3 which is scheduled for next sunday (1st april).

I'm comparing LVSW latest (3-26) release with XDA Live .3 beta (two different Hermes -- see below). I don't see much difference in their operation although they each offer different utilities, etc., and I've had a number of my apps "struggle" on LVSW after installing/running smoothily on XDA. It really does come down to how you personalize the OS and whether one cooked version is better than another with the apps you use.
Cingular 8525 -- XDA Live WM6 v0.3 beta - CE OS 5.1.195(Build 17217.2.3.0) Radio 1.38
HTC TyTN -- LVSW WM6 v3-26-07 - CE OS 5.2.968 (Build 17736.0.2.0) Radio 1.38

I like LVSW, i've only tried one built (25/03/07), but the two in your sig have an obvious difference and thats the OS build number.
I understand Black 1.3 has an even newer aku (0.2.1 vs. LVSW's 0.2.0)

First of all: Google ("Which rom") is your friend!
(Senior members don't appreciate questions like this )
Secondly:
There's no easy answer. Multiple chefs cook multiple flavours each with their own preferences (and the preferences of their fans)
The only way to find out what flavour suits you is to look around on this forum and read, read, read..... read!!!
If you don't narrow your reading by just looking for a rom and also look around in problem solving threads it might help you to make the right choice. Some cooks really know what they do.
And be warned: It might be addictive Once you overcome the initial fear of burning (potentially bricking) your device you're temped to try every release on this forum.....

What do you expect hear?? Everyone has their own favourite, just try for yourself... Why would anyone use WM6 if WM5 was better?
Everyone has his own preference when it comes to installed applications, so much is clear, but other things are harder to figure out, such as the speed or responesiveness of a particular rom. Some people, like me, just don't have the time to try them all out, i rather just tinker on a good rom.
It's easy to see what applications and settings set the roms apart, but what i can't figure out is the difference between the differtent versions of WM.
Does anyone have any idea what the pros and cons are of 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3) versus 5.2.1413 (Build 17913.0.3.0)?

Look around there is more than one thread coving speed test of various ROMs and the bottom line is that they are all about the same when first flashed. However, once you start adding YOUR chosen third party applications one ROM may be better. That is why we try them all. Developers (cooks) can't test their ROM with every application and some applications are not yet fully compatible with WM6 so they may cause you problems. If you don't have time to try them then read the threads and make an informed decision. If you don't have time for that you should probably leave your phone as is.
My ROM is the best
There's your answer!
Mine is the best. Obviously. Sheesh.. What an obvious answer.

Windows Mobile 5 is the best.
Now pack your bags and get the hell out of the WM6 forum.

OK, now all you have to do is read the threads on the ROMs you listed and make YOUR decision.
And, I'm not really up on the ROM karma so I can't help with that part, sorry.
all are "better"
All roms are very good. your question is not
As I said.. WM5 is the best.
I'm considering upgrading my Orbit to WM6, but before i do, i'm curious as to the differences between the versions of WM6 available.
The HTC and most (all?) of the cooked ROMs are version 3.7, but the official O2 German and UK WM6 release is 3.4.
Are there any significant differences between the versions?
Thanks,
Owen
I have tried them all - 3.4 3.5 and 3.7 - they are all the same wm6 build 5.2.1238 (build 177745.0.2.3) so essentially the same os (diff dates but thats the providers date) - all seem to run at the same speed and slight difference in which apps they have. The 3.5 and 3.7 are green yuk! I used 3.7 to cook my rom purely because people look at numbers.
I hav noticed WM6 loads little bit faster than WM5. WM6 come with more friendly interface for most applications.
Hello everyone,
Simple question(s), the new ROMs, 23089/21876/21609, does anyone have a change log? I mean 23089 at least follows the naming convention of 23XXX which has been going on for a bit now.
But 21876 & 21609? Where did these come from? And don't say they just feel magically from the Sky from China or Russia. Someone's got to know a bit more.
Anyone?

COM1- Builds 217**, the development build will be stop.
COM2 - Builds 218**: GUI is 1st stage of finger friendly features implemented. This is the only official WM6.5 released to public. All other COM* Builds are leaked test builds (not even classified as alpha or beta). In this range, the GUI introduces softer corners to various dialogs, the new start menu (Very early builds had a honeycomb theme but although the hexagons have been removed, the icon alignments remain), and the taskbar and menubar have been slightly modified to allow for further skinning.
COM3 - Builds 230**: GUI from 23001 to 23021 looks the same as COM2. 23022+ introduced the new shorter/expanding taskbar and finger friendly text-based buttons on taller bottom menubar and ever since its been called wm6.5.1 rather than 6.5..
23047+ introduced icon-based buttons.. New checkboxes and scroll bars and recently (from 23069 i think) a magnifier in the taskbar are amongst the newer gui elements introduced in the latest builds..
At some point (im not sure when, kinetic scrolling was introduced..
It appears that COM4 elements are being introduced into this branch such as the new contact application, a slightly modified sms application, and possibly a slightly modified calender application..
COM4 - Builds 234**: Seems to have stopped at 23420. The newer contact application and possibly the modified sms and calender applications were first introduced in this branch but have since been incoorperated into latest builds of COM3
COM5 - Builds 235**: At the moment little is known of this branch. 23502 is the first build leaked that Im aware of. It seems to have been compiled at about the same time as 23060 but with superior stability, speed, memory management, Newer COM3 builds 23071 and above have been reported to be superior in terms of stability and speed. However the latest COM5 23506 compared to COM3 23088 (build date is identical) seem equally fast and stable. COM5 builds have the new Contact app and Magnifier, as in latest COM3 Builds, but lack kinetic scrolling.
Apparently, the new internet explorer has been modified as well (but Bikertibi Builds have the old internet explorer from wm6.1 because new one does not handle well on our device)
Other branches you might or might not come to see:
AKU1 - Builds 212**
SAM1 - Builds 215**
MD1 - Builds 219**
WMD - Builds 28***: The First Build leaked is 28002 (build date 17th November 2009). As of this branch Windows Mobile is at WM6.5.3. This branch is to continue from COM3 23090 and is believed to carry improvements to the New Internet Explorer Mobile as well as overall speed
Builds 216**: leaked builds that have been played with by the team over at HTC but not officially used on any handset as yet
Builds 236**: Recently came across these builds but have no further info on them.
Cheer.
Great post TAI...Very educative...A thousand thanks...You have cleared my wondering about these build numbers.

it will update you to the .57 radio (the one you asked about in the other thread), and winmo 6.5 and sense 2.1 (you have TF3D 2.1 right now). I noticed a improvement with that radio when I did the upgrade, not huge but noticible...connection stability got better, battery life stayed about the same.
Setting -> System -> TouchFLO -> About
It says "TouchFLO for Pocket PC Version 3.0 (Build 1914.3222).
Where would I see 2.1?

I don't recall exactly where on there (if anywhere) you'll actually see "2.1" listed, but that is the last version of TF3D produced before HTC switched it all to sense, and it's the only version that shipped with T-Mobile's WM 6.1
cookie's for TP2?
i no longer have a TP2, but have related question:
is there a version of Cookie's Home Tab for sense2.1 on the TP2? or any equivalent cabs that would add functionality and quicklinks to the home tab? preferably any additions that does not involve cooked roms?

No, that program requires Sense 2.5.
If you don't have a TP2, why do you ask? Also, what are you using now?

Currently using epix and HD2.
Why did i ask? I was going to update the rom for a friend's tp2, but since both versions had tf3d2.1, decided it was not worth it. Besides, the sense2.5 cab at 80MB is too much for the tp2, so not going that route. And no way am I flashing a custom rom on somebody else's phone.
back on topic, if a current tp2 owner is satisfied with the radio and is not using tf3d, the is really no point in updating to wm6.5.
I am doing it in hopes of getting a better radio.
