I know there are a lot of people trying to figure out what the differences are between each rom and I def do not.
WM XDA Live (WMXL) v0.20x (Poll 1)
----------------------------
WM LVSW Edition (26-3-07) (Poll 2)
---------------------------
WM VI Black Edition v1.2 (Poll 3)
-----------------------
This is what I am using b/c it diff looks cooler with the nice BLACK interface hence the black edition!
Lvsw Rocks
LVSW is the bet rom
it has no third party apps and is very clean
no issuse what so ever
only prob is the call volume drops for a sec or two
KEEP UP THE Good Work
I'm actually only using LVSW Edition (25-3-07) with the commgrfix installed separately, i didn't see the point in flashing the whole OS again just for that
exactly like here, but for new users - there is one more problem resolved in complete RUU without necessity to find the solution for commgr problem

So basically I am seeing that people perfer the LVSW --- I mean as far as features/pre-loaded software/calls.
Are they all the same? Does one ROM offer better calling features/quality over the other?
So far it is LVSW yes, but Black version 1.3 is out soon, and a number of us are beta testing WMXL v0.3 which is scheduled for next sunday (1st april).

I'm comparing LVSW latest (3-26) release with XDA Live .3 beta (two different Hermes -- see below). I don't see much difference in their operation although they each offer different utilities, etc., and I've had a number of my apps "struggle" on LVSW after installing/running smoothily on XDA. It really does come down to how you personalize the OS and whether one cooked version is better than another with the apps you use.
Cingular 8525 -- XDA Live WM6 v0.3 beta - CE OS 5.1.195(Build 17217.2.3.0) Radio 1.38
HTC TyTN -- LVSW WM6 v3-26-07 - CE OS 5.2.968 (Build 17736.0.2.0) Radio 1.38

I like LVSW, i've only tried one built (25/03/07), but the two in your sig have an obvious difference and thats the OS build number.
I understand Black 1.3 has an even newer aku (0.2.1 vs. LVSW's 0.2.0)

A small and possibly large wish would be to have the ROM built by LVSW and with the basic features that he plans to put in place with the posted cabs on the original post when launched for personal upgrading. These cabs would have to be compatible with the new ROM release. Everybody wants to customize their device to there liking and unfortunatly the ROM cooker is not going to satisfy everyone wants and needs within a ROM. LVSW has been creating extremely stable ROM's for our enjoyment and needs. If LVSW is in agreement with such a plan this post could be a place that individuals could post the types of extra cabs that people would like for customizing.

Would it be possible to rip the OS from Black 2.0 and use that?
Roaming Triangle icon on the status bar
Would it be possible to look into the roaming issue that many of us are having?
This is just a wish, but I understand that there maybe other higher priorities.
Thansk!

If so, please do.
I agree with releasing the addons as CABs as I like to have as much program and storage free on my Pocket PC. This should only be some addons, otherwise there's no point in using one cooker's ROMs over another as they would just be a base OS. I vote that TweakUI should be integrated as well as the shortened welcome screen (space saved I assume), Calendar Monthly soft key and BTftp.
A suggestion I have for a program that should be integrated is David Andrš Birthdays plugin: http://pda.jasnapaka.com/birthdays/
It displays birthdays and anniversaries on your Today screen ahead of time and it's tiny in size. You can choose to hide it when there are no events coming up and customise a lot of the way it display things.
Looking forward to the new one LVSW! And thanks for being an intermediary Lurch.

Looking forward to the upcoming release. I've tried several ROMs and LVSW is the most stable.
What flavors of release are you planning, OS only, OS/Radio, etc?
Thank you for all your hard work LSVW.

We can always extract the OS only nbh..but I would suggest making it an OS only since many of us already have the most up-to-date SPL and radio, this will make it a lot easier for some newbies.
So ... I am a bit confused now. My recollection is that CUSTEL's ROMS were initially built off of the Black ROMS, and CUSTEL was simply taking the Black ROMS and making them configured for us Cingular users (with settings/apps/etc.).
Now we have JJ making a cingular flavor of Black, and Custel with a separate cingular ROM ... so my question is "what is the difference between the two?" (other than perhaps some cosmetic details).
Both work great and are excellent .. but if anyone can highlight the differences, I would appreciate it.
CUSTEL rebuilt his from a new source - not Black. Not sure of the origin of his base OS. Either way, they are separate development trunks now. I believe the only difference is what apps they pre-install in their OS and other "cooking" decisions that they make.
For example: Black has VJCANDELA and VJBIGGERSCREEN, while CUSTEL's does not. Hope this helps.

Custels ROM is based on the DOPOD Test ROM
BLACK is based on a pre-OPERATOR (OEM) ROM - with applications ported to it.
Thanks for the quick responses. Running JJ's Black 2.5 (cingy) ROM now ... looks excellent (no surprise).
I'm running the regular Black 2.5 with cabs installed for Cingular settings. I don't need all the other Cingular junk as I don't use it.
Haven't had an issue yet after about 24 hours. Looks good JJ!

Yeah -- I installed the cingy version out of curiosity about the various new cingular apps .. the reality is I don't need them, so I re-flashed to the basic Black 2.5 ... just to get some extra memory (especially since I bloat up my system running Goodlink and Acrobat LE).
I am hearing good things about Custel's ROM too ... nice to have so many solid options to work with (though bad for my productivity at work).

According to LVSW's site, pretty much the only differences are Russification-related. I don't think a WWE version will be released.
if you guys would have translated the page you would see that's its RTM 17745 and yes he will be releasing a WWE version im sure by next weekend. JJ is also releasing 17745 in his next release so you guys will have your hands on it soon enough don't worry. I am in the process of converting Lvsw's russian version into english but im busy so it will probably be released by him before im finished with it.
I have just downloaded this, dumped the rom and checked it out. I now have it running on my Tytn! I Thought it might have new media player but it still has version 10.3.
its russian only right with the old office correct??
Yes Office the same, odd piece of English here and there, nothing new so far. I have noticed that when you tap on the 'G' button to connect, and you usually tap 'ON', it takes you straight to the new comm manager, just wondering if this the way it will be in all future builds.

Been playing with LVSW´s 2007-06-06 Hermes_RUS_3.30.3.3 with the new RTM kernel 17745.0.2.3 and it works well. One of the first things I noticed was the speed of the drop down menus and scrolling in the today screen. It´s very fast, just like the program response This apart not much difference...
Negatives: it still has the ugly 3G icon, the older version of Office mobile and the new HTC Touch "style" comm manager lacks a lot of fuctions.
Positives: newer build from RTM, new version TweakUI v 20070527 (which has a power management menu and more tweakability!!), X Button V1.5, Adobe LE, HTC Audio Manager.
Hope the WWE version will be here soon....

First of all: Google ("Which rom") is your friend!
(Senior members don't appreciate questions like this )
Secondly:
There's no easy answer. Multiple chefs cook multiple flavours each with their own preferences (and the preferences of their fans)
The only way to find out what flavour suits you is to look around on this forum and read, read, read..... read!!!
If you don't narrow your reading by just looking for a rom and also look around in problem solving threads it might help you to make the right choice. Some cooks really know what they do.
And be warned: It might be addictive Once you overcome the initial fear of burning (potentially bricking) your device you're temped to try every release on this forum.....

What do you expect hear?? Everyone has their own favourite, just try for yourself... Why would anyone use WM6 if WM5 was better?
Everyone has his own preference when it comes to installed applications, so much is clear, but other things are harder to figure out, such as the speed or responesiveness of a particular rom. Some people, like me, just don't have the time to try them all out, i rather just tinker on a good rom.
It's easy to see what applications and settings set the roms apart, but what i can't figure out is the difference between the differtent versions of WM.
Does anyone have any idea what the pros and cons are of 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3) versus 5.2.1413 (Build 17913.0.3.0)?

Look around there is more than one thread coving speed test of various ROMs and the bottom line is that they are all about the same when first flashed. However, once you start adding YOUR chosen third party applications one ROM may be better. That is why we try them all. Developers (cooks) can't test their ROM with every application and some applications are not yet fully compatible with WM6 so they may cause you problems. If you don't have time to try them then read the threads and make an informed decision. If you don't have time for that you should probably leave your phone as is.
My ROM is the best
There's your answer!
Mine is the best. Obviously. Sheesh.. What an obvious answer.

I have been hooked on vp3G. Using the 3.60 and love it.
Used Custel's 2.5 the longest ... am currently alternating between my own concoctions of Pandora and Sleuth's newest. Like them all.
