one vote for vp3g v3.0

I was going to do an "Other" option but its better if you list it below

I have been hooked on vp3G. Using the 3.60 and love it.

Used Custel's 2.5 the longest ... am currently alternating between my own concoctions of Pandora and Sleuth's newest. Like them all.

Keep voting lol it will help out the newbieeeess hahaha

Schaps ftw.

Schap's WM6 Pro 3.54c ROM

Perhaps adding "Custom made ROM"?
Lots of people are running 'self-made" ROMs made by a ROM-kitchen (Pandora, Core) nowadays.

Differences between the WM6 ROMS

I know there are a lot of people trying to figure out what the differences are between each rom and I def do not.
WM XDA Live (WMXL) v0.20x (Poll 1)
----------------------------
WM LVSW Edition (26-3-07) (Poll 2)
---------------------------
WM VI Black Edition v1.2 (Poll 3)
-----------------------
This is what I am using b/c it diff looks cooler with the nice BLACK interface hence the black edition!
Lvsw Rocks
LVSW is the bet rom
it has no third party apps and is very clean
no issuse what so ever
only prob is the call volume drops for a sec or two
KEEP UP THE Good Work
I'm actually only using LVSW Edition (25-3-07) with the commgrfix installed separately, i didn't see the point in flashing the whole OS again just for that
exactly like here, but for new users - there is one more problem resolved in complete RUU without necessity to find the solution for commgr problem

So basically I am seeing that people perfer the LVSW --- I mean as far as features/pre-loaded software/calls.
Are they all the same? Does one ROM offer better calling features/quality over the other?
So far it is LVSW yes, but Black version 1.3 is out soon, and a number of us are beta testing WMXL v0.3 which is scheduled for next sunday (1st april).

I'm comparing LVSW latest (3-26) release with XDA Live .3 beta (two different Hermes -- see below). I don't see much difference in their operation although they each offer different utilities, etc., and I've had a number of my apps "struggle" on LVSW after installing/running smoothily on XDA. It really does come down to how you personalize the OS and whether one cooked version is better than another with the apps you use.
Cingular 8525 -- XDA Live WM6 v0.3 beta - CE OS 5.1.195(Build 17217.2.3.0) Radio 1.38
HTC TyTN -- LVSW WM6 v3-26-07 - CE OS 5.2.968 (Build 17736.0.2.0) Radio 1.38

I like LVSW, i've only tried one built (25/03/07), but the two in your sig have an obvious difference and thats the OS build number.
I understand Black 1.3 has an even newer aku (0.2.1 vs. LVSW's 0.2.0)

Whistler4ever's first WWE superstorage rom (based on AT&T 3.62 rom)

This is my first superstorage rom (based on the 3.62 rom) created by Pandora's kitchen with the help of some other kitchen tools. In addition, this is also using bepe's superstorage hack.
All the bloatware has been removed. Everything else you need, is mostly available in the form of cabs. It has the Schap's 2G dialer and 10-button Touch Commmanager since I think nobody likes the stock ones anyway.
Anyone interested in testing it, feel free to do so. If possible, let me know if you find anything wrong with it, I'm still in the learning phase.
Thanks.
v1 Sendspace Link
v1 Rapidshare Link
EDIT: I had better luck the second time, and uploading v2 as I type this.
uploaded new screenshots of the v2, as I said, very simple!!!
v2 Sendspace Link
Office, pbar, Java, Arcsoft MMS, X button, etc. have been removed from V1.
I'll take a seat and waiting for your screen shot.
Interested in trying this ROM but would like to know what is in and what is out. Thanks for your efforts.

Oh its definitely cool to have made my first successful rom.
Since this rom is from AT&T, all the AT&T stuff is out of there.
This is a 6MB page pool. This is only the OS, no splashscreens, no radio.
I added the following:
updated white-color battery icons,
Comm-vibrate toggle
Schap's 2G dialer
10 button CommManager
Black keyboard
Superstorage hack (thanks to bepe)
Schap's Advanced Configuration
pBar
Office 2007
Startclean
I skipped the following:
Intent midlet manager
No touch button
Network Wizard
No Autoupdate
no catalog
no windows live
Thats what I remember on the top of my head. Hope this is good info.
Did you apply Bepe's hack to the 3.62 OS (i.e. hexedit the 3.62 os.nb and edit the XIP)? Or did you cook this rom using the 3.60 big-storage OS and then combine it with the 3.62 OEM and SYS files?
Ross
only 20 some megs available for programs? ekkks. I'm thinking we all will need a bit more than that.
it is cool you offer this rom, but maybe its just me, I personally need to see more program memory.
@ Ross - I hex edited the 3.62 rom directly, no using of 3.60 OS.
@ Ko0ky - thanks for that review, I need to look into that. I would definitely some more program memory too.
I just noticed that binky has more storage memory than me, so I must have done something wrong...so back to the drawing board for me!
Yah, the big storage hack didnt work. Too bad, i was really excited for a second

it worked half way, since i have a total memory of 61.38 MB, and there is ext_rom. No worries, I'll get cracking on it again today after work.
Aiighty, on a second try, looks like I've had better luck.
Office, pbar, Java, Arcsoft MMS, X button, etc. have been removed from V1 since they're all available in cabs.
Tempted to give it try. I am using duttythroy's Touch I Ultra Lite which has 73.44MB Storage and 50.77MB Program Memory. However, it is based on the 3.60 ROM. I would like to use 3.62.
Good job on milking out some more storage space! How did you do it? Could you give us some details so that those of us who like to cook our own can do so? Thanks!
Ross
PS It is strange that there is still about 5 megs less 3.60 based big storage roms. What is up with that?
well, I realised that my mistake was in the hex-editing. I only did half the hack right, hence got only half the result (atleast thats what I think).
I have tried to make this quite a few times, and thats the max I've gotten. I might have to squeeze out some more apps/dlls, but I cannot seem to get it to 3.60 superstorage numbers. I'm still trying though.

what is the best ROM till today???

hi all, best is the best and every body tried allot of ROM'S....
Can we have in this thread the best of the best by users experinses...
please add links to your reply, so we can help others to use those ROM'S easly.
Kind Regards,
Not this again...
Every ROM has it good and bad points. From the ones I have tried I liked different things. So can not decide which is better.
Overall the decision is down to the user and what he/she wants from the ROM.
I'm tried;
- Elite 1.0
- TLR
- 1.37.707 Asia
- 1.37.456.2 ME
...and finally bEpE bElite Rom 0.53 Premium...
IMHO bepe's rom is the best... Speedy, min. mem. leakage, nearly no issues...
Same conclusion like tncar. I tried a lot of roms:
1.35.404.4 NLD
1.37.405.1 WWE
1.37.404.4 NLD
Elite 1.0
TLR
Elite 2.0
bElite 0.53
Fastest of those is the bElite.
Even I have tried all roms, but finally settled to Panosha light rom.
After the panoshalight, the next best is bepe 0.53, which is also good, but sometimes, the home is closing down suddenly after flipping 10 pictures and memory leak is going upto 33 mb sometimes.
Whereas panosha light rom, I think memory leak is very less and its stable.
im using panosha's rom right now, i tried all roms available.. i think it's very fast and stable. had no problems yet!
OK, I am gonna add TLR's first release before this thread goes down
I must say that I did not tried Bepe's or Bram's yet (I will wait for Bram's 1.15 to give that one a try) though compared with the ones which were available at that moment in time, TLR worked best for me.
His second release is using an un-instalbel manila if you want to use another GUI.
But again... what is best? Duttie's upcoming 5th release I guess....? Mr Troy in da house yet?
bepe's rom BEST for diamond

I m definitly waiting for the diamond team (Dutty&co. ) ROM ... looks very promissing .... got all the best cookers in their team so it must be something real good ... let s wait and see
im using TLR 2.0. this rom suits my personal needs it is quick enough but i would enjoy using a ROM that gave drasticlaly improved battery life.
I'd have to agree with and wait for Dutty. He's the man at cooked ROMS, and he won't put it out unless its been refined for the mass. Plus he has a surprise (a new radio maybe)!!!!!!

Dutty, glad you spotted this thread (knowing the title always attracts Chef's)
I pointed to your TytnII releases which were always better in time, so I guestimate that the upcoming Touch Diamond Project team releases will also be better with the 5th being the best
I like surprises, so I am VERY MUCH looking forward to this weekend!
Wonder if Diamond project team requires future beta testers though?
Dutty Rom Really?
That's the best news I've heard since I got my Diamond. Now I know what I will be doing this weekend while my wife is working. ;-)

guys and gals,
not to tick you off,
but i for sure am an old artemis freak, even having tried an iphone 2g the last week, I honestly have to say meschles vanilla 4.02 is the one and only fast, stable and simply usable rom i have tried upto now - all m2d roms are sluggish in comparison- espacially when runnung tomtom7, all wm 6.5 rom-regardless of the radio rom used- drain my p330 within 2days, where under vanilla4.02 i run a solid 7 days routine...
so as i posted in my plea-thread-- any bare 6.5 rom upto beating 4.02?
greetz
Nice rom!
This rom is better than others windows 6.5...
Sorry for my english!
This Rom has lovely looking menus and window effects, but this contributes to heavy use of RAM and some slow-downs. Unfortunately, changing a theme seemed to lose these lovely menus.
The Titanium plugin works well, particularly with a changed background.
A good keyboard and dialler.
Shame about the old camera.
Lovely Icons.
The Honeycomb programs selector will take some getting used to, if it does become the Standard.
This could have been a contender to DJ M2D WM6.5 5.0 UL if it wasn't for RAM issues and slow-downs.

Hello,
what Includes this ROM?
RS is kinna hssle here, looking for mirrors, plz.

best and most stable rom WM6, 6.1, 6.5 ?? Opinions please

I am a bit of a newb to the hermes and was wondering what is the best/most stable rom for wm6.?? (I'm on orange UK by the way)
Would appreciate any opinions and links to the roms.
I have spent ages reading through various posts but keep getting lost/confused.
I have done the hard spl upgrade and have a sd card ready for the upgrade. Now it's the big question of which rom.
Would like one that is ready to go with most of the basics already there rather than one of the really lite ones I think, but not sure which would be best ?
I probably should say it's an M3100
Thanks in advance....steve
Which one that is best for you, might not be the one that is best for someone else. Each cook has their own style.
Try several, I would suggest CRC's, Tai's, Josh's, or kareme's
You really will have to try several to see what fits you best.
I have not tried any of the 6.5 roms out, mainly because it seems there are still bugs to be worked out.
Don't bother with WM6
There's not really that significant a jump from WM5 - and you can get an official WM6 ROM!
IMHO 6.1 is the way to go, for now...
Spoiler Alert!!
Umm.. I've been trying the WM 6.5 Version XXX76 from Tai... I am mighty impressed... I thot it'd need lots of ram to keep 6.5 running.. this is fast man... 6.5 though there are no paradigm shifts from 5,6 or 6.1... even the beta seems better that 6.1...
currently my rnaking would be
1. 6.5 ( I am liking waht I am seeing.. this is the speed king... 76 fro TAI is stable as any other ROM)
2. 6 (faster... than most of the other Versions and not plain as 5
3. 6.1 (lots of fixes on this but slow.. slow...slow)

There are 2 new 6.5 ROMs worth trying
I just bought a 8525 for $125 USD. It's awesome. I first settled on one of Schap's ROMS - Schaps_WM6Pro_Hermes_4.31_WWE_Full.
It was really nice but now it is sadly behind the times. There are 2 new 6.5 ROMs worth trying:
1 21189_Lite_V9_Update1
2 21193_Lite_V10
I installed the 1st and stopped there because it is so awesome. The Hermes no longer has to hide in the shadows of all the new $600 Pda/phones out there.
One thing about 6.5 is that there is no "programs" section per se in the titanium feature(?). So I went to a SPBplus4 Today Screen.
It's much more convenient for accessing fexplorer and task mgr.I did do an auto hide on the tabs and minimized the icons so it would look like one of the newer phones. Appreciate all the hard work everyone put in.
My ROM request (if anyone's interested) is for a full featured 6.5 -something like K's ROM with TAI's finesse dominating - BUT without IE or OFFICE or WM built in. I am surprised all the great cooks include these. I have found Skyfire, TCPMP work great and I don't need Office at all.
And the START MENU sections on the 6.5 should go directly to the same categories as before except more like :
Programs, SYSTEM Settings, Connection Settings, Personal Settings, TODAY settings, TOOLS (regedit, fexplore, taskmgr), GAMES, PICTURES, VIDEOS, MUSIC, AND the option to add or customize your own AND be able to have it show before Programs, and stay there after a SR!
I am a newbie but I know what I want. Thanks again to all the cooks for making carrying a phone everywhere exciting and useful and for showing the big companies how to really do it. They keep putting out these improved ROMs (performance-wise) but they have no idea what to do with them.
Jupiter and Titan from AZ USA.
I am also trying to figure out how to automatically add my apps from the SD card after a HR. Autorun or something like that. Anyone know of a thread that shows a newbie how to do it?

Yes Josh what do you mean?? i've also downgrade back to WM 6.
I've tried your WM 6.5 Its great but for now im looking forward for the hybrid rom.
I personally like Tai_SW's 21109 rom. It seems to be really stable though that could be because its a hybrid WM6.1/WM6.5 rom.
Have 2 Hermes, on my main I use 21109 but test others on my "spare"...
I don't tend to like the Hex or titanium roms as the RAM is low and storage space seems to abot 45Mb or less while I use about 50 Mb for the apps I like. I need to have as much RAM as possible too so I don't end up with system freezes when I run a REALLY RAM hungry app.
Cheers...
binky11 is the most stable ever, but it will be the perfect rom when manill2d them inside.
PERFECT
thanks
Tai_SW's wm6.1 lite roms are superb, fast, stable, & lot's of free memory!!

Josh meant that WM6.5 is great and once you've tried it, you don't want to back to 6.1 anymore
I use DarkWinter2 from Josh and it works fine for me.
