Free Registry Cleaner - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Please recommend some good free registry cleaner. Thank you!
Bestr regards,

RAMCleaner?

Not RAM cleaner, but a registry cleaner (because of uninstalled programs). Thanks.

Actually, recently I've found another way to speed up my poor PC, the software "tuneup360". It’s very easy to handle and of course very powerful, my friends and I all use it now, maybe you can have a try.

SuperD-Lite! WM6 Optimal Base Rom

Welcome to Dopod Lite (now D-Lite!)
Latest version is SuperD-Lite! (Links at bottom) If you are new to my roms, I suggest you read through this first post and the rest of the thread so you understand where this is coming from.
There are lots of nice roms out there. So, why put out another? Well, everyone's different, and I think there are folks out there who may be looking for this.
Note: For V1.2 and V1.1 changes, see below! I am leaving the links for V1.0 and V1.2 because they work great, and avoids hassle for those who don't want to bother putting in their own Java VM, (V1.1 and 1.2), or want to use this as a base for further cooking. (Won't work in V1.2)
From my own testing and use, the latest stock WM6 Hermes Dopod rom has proven to be the fastest and most stable of the current official WM6 roms. This is supported by the fact that a number of the well known chefs are using it as their base. (Sleuth, Shaps, and some others) I've been running my own version for awhile now, and am very pleased with it: its ability to sleep and play music, its skip-free A2DP, and its speed.
However, it has a moderate amount of bloat, which can be removed to make it better.
I have stripped the following: Transcriber, Windows Live, VOIP, Voice Commander, Autoupdate, Catalog, Error Reporting (though it still shows in Settings), SQM, Ceipui, Calculator, ClearVue pdf reader, Zip, the less-used ring tones, and the standard movie clip. Probably some other things too. I have also compressed some files to gain free storage space.
The result is a fast, stable rom, with a minimum of clutter, which performs all the basic functions very well thank you: Phone, Internet, Java, Office 2007 (without OneNote), GPS, etc. etc. It is ripe for customizing in your own special way. If you want it to become a developer rom, add that stuff. Add custom themes? Go ahead. Add functionality? Ready and waiting. There's plenty of free memory and storage space: 30.06 meg, and 59.51 meg respectively (V1.0, 6mb page pool). I could have added a few meg to program memory by reducing the page pool from 6meg to 4meg, but I chose not to do that in the interest of maximizing stability and functionality.
I have altered the initial customization routine to do only the basics: set hspda, set acoustic parameters, and a few registry settings. It does not access the extended_rom, so you are free to do what you want with that.
You will have to choose your own radio (or leave the one you have). You will likely want a replacement calculator (there are lots of good ones). You may want a voice dial program (take your pick). You will have to add your own carrier settings. (Cabs are around for most of these.) The start up screens you currently have will stay there. This is an OS only flash.
If people have suggestions and links for additional functionality, feel free to post them!
If you have never flashed a rom before, take care to follow the excellent tutorials available before doing it for the first time. Your Hermes device can be ruined otherwise.
I will try to fix bugs, etc. but this rom is best suited for those who can troubleshoot things for themselves. This is a hobby, and I can't guarantee I'll be around everyday to help with issues. However, I really don't expect a lot of problems, and you can look on the Dopod release thread for some help with things as well. (Not to mention the rest of the site!)
See second post for more screen shots (5 pic limit/post), capture screen program NOT included in rom. Memory stats are as above, not as pictured, because I had that program and file explorer loaded and running.
Version 1.0 links, Includes Tao Java 10_1_7_575 built in, 6mb page pool. Time-tested stability and performance.
V1.0 Rapidshare Link
V1.0 Megaupload Link
Version 1.1: Offered with some trepidation, however since Schaps decided to package two alternative Java VM's I thought I'd give people a choice. In this version I have also decreased the page pool to 4mb, which makes me a bit nervous, but seems to be running ok for me. The final memory results are remarkable: Free storage memory is 61.03 mb, and Free program memory is 32.07 mb at cold boot after customizations! See post for further discussion. (Update: I have added a 6mb page pool version for those who have issues with the 4mb version.)
V1.1 4mb PagePool Rapidshare Link
V1.1 6mb PagePool Rapidshare Link
V1.2 Update: In this version I have gone even further, by removing all .rgu files from the V1.1 base. This eliminates about thirty-five file entries in the Windows directory, and frees up about 200K of additional storage memory. For some operations, this should increase rom speed even more than its already "blistering" pace. The downside to this is that it is unsuitable for those who want to use it as a base for their own cooking. (Except for the RomDonald kitchen, which should still work.)
V1.2 4mb Page Pool Rapidshare Link
V1.2 6mb Page Pool Rapidshare Link
SuperD-Lite: Based on V1.2, and incorporating bepe's new technology of melding extended_rom and storage rom, this version boosts available storage memory to 71mb. Be aware that this flash will wipe out your extended_rom partition. If you are coming from another chef's or stock rom, you will have to reload all your apps, etc. If you are upgrading from one of mine, that is still probably safest, but you can check my last post for an optional method.

Solitaire & Bubble Breaker Question
Hello Edhaas,
Thanks so much for this lite version!!
I was wondering if you have the cabs for Solitaire and Bubble Breaker (when you extracted them I was wondering if you kept them). I have searched and am unable to find them. It seems like they should be readily available but I am unable to find complete versions of their cabs.
Thanks again for this version and your time,
vjgrace
thanks for the base.. i wanted one that i could customize according to my needs
Hi,
Thanks I also wanted a lite rom. Just wanted to ask, since u said it's based on the latest official dopod rom, is it exactly the same with just those apps removed? No special tweaking, interpollating of other devices' roms, other imgfs, etc? (like what the other chefs are doing).Just the official dopod rom itself?
Edhass, care to provide some screen shots?
Edhass, you just did what I was contemplating doing last night!
Kudos for removing that ugly calculator with the buttons I can barely hit with my fingers. I never understood why some chefs left in that calculator while they blinged up the today screen and added nice dialpad skins.

Sorry about the games. It was a tough decision. In the end I took them out because I'd already played them to death. The freeware site in the second post has lots of games, including solitaire. There used to be cabs floating around here for the games, but I'm guessing they were pulled for copywrite issues. If I'm in error, it would be great if someone could post links or update. If you want, I could cook up another version with the games, I think they're around 500k together. It may take a few days though. If anyone else wants them, please post your request.

Feedback
drgopoos - you're welcome!
joecruz - It's all dopod. I played around with using another Java, and some other stuff, but for me the original works fine, and is much smaller. I changed some registry settings, and the initflashes, and removed stuff, but no mix and match in this version. Thanks for asking. Edit: I did change the version of mxip_notify.vol so that I could remove ceipui (phone home).
alancstan - I'll work on that. Basically its a standard WM6 looking rom. It boots into the Windows Default theme, but I've included the standard Guava Bubbles and Mobile Green themes. The difference is in the speed, stability, and available storage. You can make it look however you like!
rob.ocelot - Yeah, the calculator was always one of the first things I replaced when I ran a new rom. There's lots of better options out there.
Noticed that Remote Desktop is taken out as well. This actually works out better for me since you can install it to memory card -- more savings.
Any reason you left the sample pictures and dogbark.wav? (these are some of the first things to go when I start a new ROM)
Edit: Also no HTC X-button, which I almost always turn off. It never did mesh well with the way I use my PPC (closing/minimizing things to get to the today screen just to open the task manager).
I'm very impressed with how snappy everything seems to be!

Thanks for the comments! I chose to leave in the pics because they were really small, and I felt like there was some comfort factor involved for those transitioning from a stock rom. (When opening Pictures and Videos, its nice to have something there so you know its working.) I also sometimes use the dogbark for my alarm. (and its also small)
Actually the version 1.0 of x-button is built-in. This version is small, and its only function is to close an app completely if the x (close) is held down for a few moments. There is no today screen option. (Look in system settings, near the bottom, I think its called taskmgr or something. I've overwritten mine with a later version.) I didn't update it because I know there are folks like you who prefer other task managers, and I didn't remove it because for those who like to close their apps and not hide them its a simple solution.
Best wishes,
Many thanks for the Lite Rom, will try and see if working fine with my x01ht with chinese input.
No problem about the games

Edhaas,
Thanks so much for your response, No problem about the games, I know you are probably busy. I just though I'd ask because my wife really loves the bubble breaker game.
Anyway, this lite version is awesome, so much memory it is unbelievable...thanks again for the memory space and the stability!!!

Added screen shots
Well, per request I've added some screenshots to the first and second posts. Please note the screen capture app was added after the flash, and that available memory is larger than shown.
Also, we're around a hundred downloads, and I'm guessing the relative quiet here means everything is working great, and the rom is just boringly reliable and efficient!
Best wishes,
Found this rom very good.
On the subject of a2dp skipping, would brief pausing be called skipping? I have parrot mk6000 hands free carkit. It's bluetooth version is 1.2. I realize that bluetooth version 2.0 is downward compatible, could this have something to do with pausing? or is it a processing bottleneck? or buffersize issue?
Thanks in advance

A2DP troubleshooting seems to be a bit of an art. I can tell you that my Plantronics P260 stereo headset streams beautifully and skip-free while running internet radio, or any of the usual music players with the current settings. If I add another app to the mix, the music will sometimes pause while the other app is busy, then resume. If you are running TomTom while streaming internet radio, you might get pauses. Or, the 1.2 bandwidth could be an issue also in that case.
I did a mini-search and found a posting by pocc that might be helpful for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1406333
Generally though, the current thinking is that usejointstereo should be "1", and all the "bitpool" settings should be deleted for the best sound. See here. Which is the way I set this rom at default. If you do want to tinker with these settings, I suggest using one of the custom tweak apps, or getting a registry editor. Let me know if you need further help.

Best Practices for cleanup of files and general maintenance

Hello guys, I though it would be a good idea to list some of the best practices as far as cleaning up old files and general smartphone maintenance for the Dash and others.
So who wants to kick it off
uh
hmm besides the usual free memory button that i love to use.. my usual reg tweaks that i have done usually fix some stuff.. but i dont know too much else.. it isnt like you can defrag the b$%ch lol.
1. Free Memory
2. Celetask
3. SkTools --a must have
4. Restart (soft reset)
then Repeat lol!
Sktools - run auto clean then free ram
free memory
clear temp
reboot
The best way to clean all the crap up is to brew your own lite ROM. I just finished an Excalibur ROM based on the latest 20279 core. The homescreen looks like the S740 and the new dialer and comm manager are sweet! It works pretty well so far, but I wanna wait until tomorrow at least to release it to do some early beta testin...
looking forward to it !!!!!!!
Excellent post so far, I also use SK Tools and I have found it to be indispensable, with all the add/remove applications registries are updated and sometimes not re-updated when the applications are deleted. I suppose the best way would be to reflash your unit and load up all the apps you know you will use but that maybe a bit on the extreme side. I'm currently working on a list of all my apps and registration codes to quickly upload them to my unit just in case.
Here is the url for SK Tools http://www.s-k-tools.com/
I also personally love CeleTask not only as a quick launcher but a good tool overall
Can someone elaborate on their use of Celetask besides the "Free Memory" function.
Quick Tip for Celetask Status Bar
How to put the status bar to top?
Edit the Registry value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CeleTask\Flag, add the original value by 1 (e.g. 502 to 503)
enjoy
Anyone care to give a step by step on using SKTools? How, for example, does one autoclean? How else do you guys use it? I have version v. 3.1.9 installed, and also have SKTools Lite available, though not installed.

Auto Clean! should be in your start menu.
Nope... The only thing added to my Start Menu is SKTools. Within SKTools, I get to a screen where I can select various tools such as Clean, Optimize, Tune Up, etc...

WMRegOptimizer - v0.1, October 6, 2008
This small tool was originally inspired by this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432966
About
WMRegOptimizer is a small tool that tries to optimize registry access - "defrag" it, if you will. It doesn't perfectly defrag it, but it goes a long way. This results in somewhat faster registry access for applications where this is the bottle-neck.
So this speeds up my device?
Not really. It lowers latency for certain system calls, which may result in some things being a bit faster. It doesn't magically make your device faster, but it may be more responsive in some situations.

Happy user of Memmaid
I'm a keen user of memaid, but there is also pocket mechanic.
I use pocket mechanic, a usefull program with a lot of different funcions like:
Fragmentation
Scan Disk
Free ram
Outlook cleanup
Card benchmark
Find duplicate files
registry cleanup
uninstaller

Neither nore... But I used them both in iPAQ Times. Now I am using SK-Tools. The reasons for that are:
a really good support
more tweaking possibilities
faster than the versions of PocketMechanic I know (around about one year ago)
really effective
available in many languages
Using Memmaid 2.1 atm.
Works great, though somehow my HD hangs if the "used" memory reaches over 56% ....
But that's offtopic.
Memmaid works great!
memmaid!
got it free and it works brilliantly
cleartemp is supplied on dutty's ROMs. Been using that to clear up cache's and unrequired files etc.
I use/prefer pocket mechanic i find sktools ok but like with notification que and reg clean it doesn't do it automatically just gives you a list of keys and you pick each to delete ect. pocket mechanic scans and offers to delete duplicates automatically, fix broken keys automatically or lets you manually edit or delete them
Optimize program
You can use MindSoft Mobile Utilities www.pocketmindsoft.com

wm6.5 eat RAM

Hi all, after install WM6.5, it seem the RAM is always on high consumption. even I cancel the running program, the ram still not back to lower ratio. I have tried install some FreeRam program for WM6.1 but it seems doesn't work on WM6.5, anyone have new freeRAM program for WM6.5?
HTCAddicts.com's CleanRAM works fine in WM 6.5 (www.htcaddicts.com)
Hi,
Unfortunatly it does not work as the only thing it is doing is closing and restarting apps.
You can do this manually with pretty same results.
But the problem of WM6.5 or HTC Sense or whatever I don't know is Memory Leak concerning GUI handling. Take a look a gwes.exe memory consumption at start and then at the end of a regular use day with all apps closed. GWES.EXE will take twice memory than it took when you soft resetted.
And I think nobody has find a way yet to get rid of this problem.

Thomas

oh, I did mean to use cleanRAM manually (actually, mode 3) ... guess you're technically right, tho
Thanks! I think use this better than nothing. About the final solution, it may need to wait the HTC update ROM to settle this problem.... so sad!!
try to make the shared memory smaller
this problem is caused by the shared memory.
HKLM/ Software /HTC / Resloader
look for that registry setting and recalculate it to half. that might solve your ram issues. I had to do it with my Kaiser running M2D. Fixed my problem when I set it to 3mb (1024 x 3 = 3mb.) You need to make sure that the math is correct so that you are not wasting any sectors. 1mb increments works well.
I would reserve at least 10mb for TF3D as opposed to the 3mb for M2D.
Use this at your own risk and make sure you backup first, in case you will have to do a hard reset.
also, in order to see actual memory usage for processes you should use the MS task manager, not the DF TaskManager. MS gives you accurate readings, while DF lets you close processes.
I just tried setting it to zero. no harmfull efects.
thanks for your advise, I don't know how to caclulate this but task manager could help. may I ask when can I found the task manager?
