Does any one konw rolling back your diamond to original OS? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

hi guys,
same as title,
may I ask how to rolling back diamond custom rom into HTC original rom? just for warranty reasons.
after referring someone's thread, I found that first I should re-cook a standard rom into my diamond, then flash the proper radio, and finally recover SPL before sending it to HTC.
now I know how to flash radio/SPL back, then how about rom?
sorry for my poor English, once again, my point is, back up my current rom(with factory default settings), then flash a custom rom to replace this current rom, and re-flash that factory default setting rom back when diamond get some hardware problems which means need to be send to HTC service in the future.

First flash the original ROM (like any cooked ROM),
then the radio, and the origi SPL.
It's simple as that.

Reverting back to complete WM5

Hi All,
I've been playing around with various WM6 ROM's but I have now decided to sell the phone (I want a Kaiser!), anyway whats the best way of reverting back to the original HTC booloader & WM5 ROM. I ask this because I still have valid warranty but only if HTC never find any traces of different ROM's??
I assume I would use ROM
HTC English HTC__001 1.23.405.2 1.07.0000 1.38.00.11 ??
but what about the bootloader??
Any advice would be a real help
Cheers

You should have the original ROM on your phone just hard reset it using the key combination to reinstall...

incorrect.. hard resetting will just wipe your data, not revert your ROM to original factory ROM
if you have the official ROM from your manufacturer, it should come with SPL packaged in it.. run SSPL manually and then run the official ROM update
I thought that part of the ROM comes with a hidden partition of WM5 so that in event of problems you could reflash back as it says in the manual? This is quoted in many threads! ie. Flash WM6 as much as you want and in event of problems just restore back to original state.
Yes but by flashing the orginial WM5 that cane with the device...
If you flash with WM6 the "Hidden" section will restore WM6 i.e. whats on the device..
so what would be good then is if there was a simple tool for backing up a rom to a PC like the one Orange used to do instead of all the command line converstions etc...
if one enter the bootloader and format the reg and storage that way
it's like an old fasion hardreset
everything will go back to the org rom settings
but never to a former rom if one have flashed it to a new one
hence is the a way we can simply backup our present ROM exactly as we have it now before flashing?
you can do a dump of your ROM to make a backup of it.. although it's a bit troublesome. Depending on your carrier, they may actually have your official ROM on their site, or it may be in the wiki, so not everyone needs a ROM dump
yep.. but if you changed WM5 and installed progs exactly as you wanted it then its good to get a backup...
umm.. yeah... i guess that goes without saying. you could use sprite or something.. then flash the same original wm5 rom and restore your backup
yes but would be more handly to create a flashable rom backup

Flashing a cooked rom - further tips

As a number of you are having problems flashing cooked roms I put up this sticky.
1. If you presently run a factory wm5\wm6 rom then uspl cid unlock (step 1 in my roms) your rom before you flash cooked rom.
2. If you have a cooked rom on your device already and are changing to another cooked rom (especially if rom is from a different cook) i would recommend you:
a) flash back to factory rom first
b) then cid unlock
c) then flash the new cooked rom.
This is because sometimes the new cooked rom does not function 100% on first flash and a repeat flash is required.
3.Alternatively (especially if you dont have access to the factory rom) flash the new cooked rom twice to be sure new rom has taken properly and if device is already cid unlocked there is no need to cid unlock again.
Thanks for your hard work
Yes flashing twice works!!!
Thanks
Thanks Meschle
No Navigation application included in ROMs
Maybe this is also interestening for newbies;
there is no TomTom or iGo in the ROMs included (this is a often asked question)
but you can download TomTom from their website for free (you only have to pay for the maps)
After installing TomTom - just insert your TomTom CD and install your maps from there.

Hi guys, I'd like to try one of your cooked roms but unless I tried to gather infos from the forum I still have some doubts....
First of all... the cid unlock procedure is needed only for the devices that are operator branded right? I mean if I have a normal HTC no brand I don't need to do this step... is this correct?
And last but not least.. how can I flash back to the factory rom??? Is the procedure the same? I tried to find my original rom but I couldn't... Does anyone can help me in finding it? (I've got the italian rom installed).
Thanks to everybody...

Before you start to cook your own rom...
May I add that's also very important to have been through the whole process (at least one time) of recooking an original rom without adding/removing anything ?!
That's the price we need to pay in order to achieve successfull rom cooking !
difficulties to flash artemis

only flash the new one.
Just like to add that sometimes the ROM file renames itself to an N file even if you rename it back to a NBH file so watch for that before flashing cooked ROMs
using the ROM Update utility, how do I get it to choses the correct rom file. Cooked one with extended rom how do I get tit to choose this file?

The above questions asked are really important for the ppl flashing their ROMs for the 1st time. I want to add some more questions
- How to put the original ROM back on the device.. (could not find the steps for the same)
- CID unlock. If i put the original ROM back on the device, will it automatically take care of the CID which was unlocked before (to flash the cooked ROMs)?
- Is there any way we can see CID info on the mobile?

to put the original ROM just get it and flash it when needed
and when flashing it it don't need CID unlock or anything and it will bring back your device to original SPL, IPL, Radio and ofcourse the OS
cheers

Newbie with 1 big question

Dear All,
first of all....HELLO! I've just registered myself on the forum.
Yesterday I bought the HTC P3600 (Trinity, I think), english version (I suppose it's called wwe). I want to install a cooked ITALIAN ROM, but I read I'm losing the guarantee if I'll do it.
Somebody tell me there is a software that can allow me to re-install the original ROM and avoid the guarantee losing.
Is this right? can someone give me more info?
Thanks in advance for your reply and sorry for my english
Best regards
You can always go back to an original HTC rom, as long as you don't brick your device.
In order to prevent that, you should install a Hard-SPL (board search, iirc its a sticky) which is a replacement bootloader that allows flashing any Rom after bricking.
Have fun playing around with your new P3600.

So if I install first the Hard-SPL I can install a COOKED ITALIAN ROM and after I can go back the original HTC ROM and I'll not lose my guarantee???
If I brick, how can I de-brick the HTC?
Thanks for the quickly reply
Best regards
You should try reading the WIKI and also check www.trinityguides.info
Helloo there.
Your phone is probably cid locked, that means, that u can install only original htc rom-wm5. wm6 doesnt exist for htc trinity.
If u have cid unlocked, u can flash any rom with the RUU (rom update utility) , which is in the package with the rom.
Otherwise i prefer for my cid locked trinity that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632
U loose warranty if u send the broken pda on service with the custom rom installed on it. So, before u send it, flash the original rom over and it will be ok.
The problem could be, if the lcd goes bad, than its hard to reinstall the original rom. i know u understand.

Thanks for your answer. I installed the SPL-1.20 and I updated my Radio version (1.46.00.11------is it good?). Now I can install every unofficial ROM and in any case I can go back (how?).
Is it right?

How to flash the new SPL? (Maybe related to the SOD issue)

Hello,
I would like to flash the new SPL that comes with the new official HTC Rom (with sense 2.5) as it may be related to the sleep of death (which seems to occure on low batterie only for me).
HardSPL does not allow the flash of the SPL, and SSPL freeze my device. Any idea?
As my device is a german one and that I want the rom in english I do need to bypass the vendor id check.
Thank you,
if youre using hardspl and a custom rom, do not flash a stock spl. youll brick your phone. if you have hardspl flashed, you shouldnt flash to stock. if youre using the stock rom it should have also flashed its matching stock spl.

Is Hard SPL required to flash a custom ROM to the Dash?

Okay, so I've NEVER flashed a custom ROM to ANY phone, but I want to mess with 6.1 on the Dash. I'm not exactly sure what Hard SPL is, but I keep getting told that if I were to flash anything to my Dash 3G, that I'd need it. However, I never see anything about Hard SPL for the original Dash.
So my questions are: Does the original Dash need any form of Hard SPL, or can I just flash a custom ROM? And after I flash the custom ROM, can I go back to the T-Mobile stock ROM if I wish just by flashing it the way I would any T-Mobile update?
Thanks, everyone. Sorry for all the n00bish questions.
from my knowledge and i've flashed my Dash many times you just need SDA unlock to unlock your phone and then you can flash a ROM and you can revert to the stock ROM at any time, in the main section of this forum read the sticky [the top thread] and you'll find everything you need to know how to flash for a n00b.
:]
If you are still not sure and you don't want to take a risk click here.
Excalibur Update SPL (USPL) 1.11 (Hard-SPL that will save you from having to flash the correct Model & Vendor ID if semi bricked device)
After this you will be able to flash any cooked or official rom.
Thanks, to both of you. I feel a bit more confident about this stuff now. :-D
