Questions about Flashing Rogers Diamond - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hey
I just got a unlocked Rogers HTC Touch Diamond, but preformance is so poor since it have all rogers software installed. Therefore i would like to flash it with offical HTC Touch Diamond ROM, but i am not sure by flashing it would it loose 850 GSM signal or even trash the phone. The reason behind this post it that euro or asian version of diamond they dun have 850 they only have 900 which is tria band. And by having 850 it improve signal strength (i am guessing) so i am not sure is it a good idea to flash it. All experts out there would you mind give this newbie a hand....
Thank you so much.....

rogers diamond
i have flashed a lot of roms and radios on my rogers diamond and have had no issues at all.. i recently sold it and miss all the flashing
so no worries have fun

Thank you for your reply but did you notice any down fall of your calling quality?

Has anybody on Rogers that have reflashed their Diamond been able to get to mymobilehomepage.rogers.com? I can't get to it anymore in IE or Opera and am trying to figure out what is causing my phone to get blocked now...

Cooking 2 Radio ROMs Into 1?

Hi All,
Sorry if this has been asked before but i searched and i couldn't find an answer. I was wondering since after the Tytn II HTC always manufacture different phones with different Radio Roms to for USA and Europe/Asia (respectively), can't someone cook a rom that actually has both radios? Is that even possible?
That would be great if we can have 1 ROM which is truely Quad band, GSM/Edge 850/900/1900/2100 and HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100.
Or is there a ROM that actually has that? I looked at the Radio ROM thread, it has many Quad Band ROMs but doesn't mention if it's GSM and HSDPA or just GSM.
Thanks for your help and sorry again if the question was asked before.
its already gsm and hsdpa...?
at least i think so...because if you're not using hsdpa(3g) you get gsm right?
Well i live in the States and have the European version of the diamond with the stock ROM, i get GSM but not 3G. I didn't try flashing any of the other Radio Roms yet. Since there are many people here who are like me that would like to have 3G too so i thought of this idea. I have no experience what so ever with cooking ROMs so i was wondering if that's possible. I also travel a lot so it would be nice to have a 3G connection anywhere i am

Diamond is not working in usa !!!!!!!!!!! Help

The diamond with what ROM or Radio ever , shows the freaking US Nonstandard Standard of 850 and 1900 mhz for UMTS
But to use it for online purpose is impossible. It goes only to Edge what is closer to the speed of smokesigns .
The old touch cruise does well in the same areas with the same provider and the same settings .
Someone here who live also in the (Telephone development country) USA and figured out any solution ?
Thanks a lot
i do not have the international Version of the Diamond
sounds like you have the European (900+2100) diamond that does not have the us 3G (850+1900) bands. if this is the case you are stuck with EDGE.
it is true
but the radio or HTC ROM shows 850/1900 UMTS is this just another joke from HTC ?
Thanks
some roms show all the radio versions but are not usable because of hardware dependencies. my rom shows the china 1700 umts band but i know the hardware in my phone does not support it.
it's not htc but rather rom cookers leave all the available versions in windows so people from all parts of the globe can use their rom and see the bands for their country.
850 mhz Radio ?
did found this information quite old but HOPE.
"Sure, devoted ROM cooks were able to give the Euro-spec HTC Touch Diamond some 850Mhz frequency capability. And then HTC came out with their own ROM update that gave the HTC Touch Diamond EDGE-support on the 850Mhz band. But, without a dedicated 850/1900Mhz 3G radio under the hood, the HTC Touch Diamond just couldn’t crack the US market like we’d hoped."
SO is there a Radio, because the 850mhz is there and to get 3G seems a Radio Issue

"Rogers" diamond use in Asia(Hong Kong), no 3g signal

I have already do some research and i have read many posts in the forum.
I want to know if there any method to solve the problem now?
I have a HTC diamond which is "rogers" brand.
I use it in Honk Kong, all the things work perfectly, but i can not get the 3G signal
In the forum, i have gotten some information,
Rogers is 850/1900 MHz
Asia(Hong Kong) is in 900/1800 MHz
Is there any program to solve my problem?
Or it is the hardware problem, no software can solve it
Thank you for your help
Yes, you are right. Rogers Diamond will not work in HK 3G. HTC seems to have different version of their phone for US and the rest of the world.
So, no need to buy HTC phone in Asia or other country. It will not work in N.A.
Only a few old model will work in HK 3G and NA 3G such as
HTC TytnII
HTC Curise

He is right....and actually so are you, it is a hardware dilemma. Eventually they will make all phones truly a world phone in all aspects. Not half, half....

unbranded TP2 "not working" on Telstra

I have a TP2 which I got outright and currently has 3 sim. Today I tried my friends Telstra NextG sim and I can't get any service. Tried manual search and also tried changing Band from Automatic to GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850).
Nothing. Also, manual search finds Optus network but not Telsrta.
This is a bit of a bummer cause I was going to switch to Telstra NextG in few weeks.
Would a ROM upgrade fix this? plz help.
Touch Pro 2 (WM 6.5 HTC Rom)
ROM: 1.86.710.3 (67102)
Radio: 4.49.25.17
btw. My friend has a Telstra branded Touch Diamond2
thats quite interesting! telstra are yet to release their 6.5 update, but perhaps getting a copy from your telstra friend when its released will fix this?
My understanding is thtat the unbranded TP2 is a 900/2100 phone. the settings may allow 850/1900 but it will not work. My understanidn is that the nextG version sold by telstra has a different internal antenna setup
The unbranded TP2 is quadband GSM but does not support Telstra 3G. Does Telstra not operate a 2G network? If not then it will not work on Telstra. You need either a Telstra TP2 or a North American TP2 (such as AT&T or some Canadian ones).
yeah Telstra does have 2G, but the whole reason of me switching is the Next G network.
can anyone with an Telstra branded TP2 post their ROM and Radio, plz.
wondering if changing the radio will fix it. I find it hard to believe that HTC manufactures TP2s, as well as Diamond2 or even Touch HD, just for Telstra.

[Q] HTC HD7S 3G Problems

Hello every1!
A friend just got his hands on his HTC HD7S from AT&T but, he is trying to use in another carrier here in Brazil but it can only make calls and use Edge network.
My HTC HD7(not the S one) is from TMobile and everything works fine here in brazil with same SIM card/Carrier.
I heard that Those HD7S from AT&T has a diff frequency and our carrier is not working with 3G at that frequency.
So, my question is:
Is there any way to help this friend and his HD7S to get 3G working on his device? Like for sample, flash a ROM(which one? Links?) that enable full range of frequencies like my HD7?
Thanks! I really appreciate the help. My friend is so sad that he cant use his phone well that I decided to help him.
Thanks a lot!
Best regards...
Gutemberg
Well, HD7 3g bands are different than hd7 3g bands, so I suppose the network you are trying to use is something like 900/1700 MHz on 3g. If so then it will not have 3g except if you use it in another carrier (a 850/1900MHz one)
