Before you hear your GSM, I am sure that you feal the earthquake before. And then it is on more stress factor, what you really not need in such a moment.
Have you expierence with earthquakes?

The HD hasn't got the hardware required to detect sound waves produced by an earthquake.
What you really need is a Quake Alarm which detects an earthquake's sound wave before the earthquake's destructive shear wave strikes your area.

Wouldnt a HTC go nuts? imagine u have the quake alarm on and ur sleeping and someone calls. The vibration is gonna make the HD think that the world was just blown to pieces!

Camera Upgrade

I believe that I have read somwhere in this forum that there is a update/upgrade for the camera on blue angel which helps get clearer pics. I have done a search but can not find it. My actual version is2.21 Build 17084.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ERK_Patches_13x
So anybody tested them?
Does it make any difference..........i mean, there is from the starting point not so much to expect from a vga camera :?
I currently have 2.21 17084
Thanks for your quick reply! I just don't understand what this means:
"Note this is a higher build than but lower version than"
Which one is the latest/better version. Which one should I get for my blue angel, Fix_camera18157.sa.cab or Camera patch 10080401? I have camera version 2.21 build17084?
Do I just install the cab from the blue angel?

I suppose it should have said
"Note this is a higher Version than the one above, but a lower build"
And yes, .cab files are just copied to the PPC and executet for installation. Note that the .cab file will delete itself on installation
Thank you! It did help quiet a bit. The pictures are sharper now
Xda II
hey guys.....
is there something like this for xda II as well ?

so which cab file you did you get?
I just tested them both.
Now this is a mini test on only a few pics. in bad light, and a minimal difference on the pictures, but i found the 2.11 (Build 18157) to be just a ini mini little bit better, but in no way the same quality as you se on screen.
Anybody got an explanation on why its much better on screen (just with the camera active) than the actual picture that comes out of it??
For me it seems quite unlogical that the lens can capture a much better quality to put on the screen, but ones you take the picture the quality is much whorse.
How does this makes sence?

Im beginning to get a bit frustrated over using so much money on a device thats not even finished.
I gotta say, that if SonyEricsson comes with a new P900 type of device thats more like the BA, i will consider turning back to Symbian.
Symbian has its own troubbles, but they are very productive when it comes to updates and getting things fixed, which definantly is not the case with HTC/Microsoft and probbably the 5000 companies they outsource to
Well I went form the P900 to the MDAIII, only since I got it free.
The P900 is a VERY nice phone, its small gives you addresses in and not just phone numbers, has a lot of good apps and when I go out I still use it due to the size.
The MDAIII, well its a PPC, and thanks to this forum you can infact fix a few of the issues like the language. Its far form perfect but its one hell of a toy if you want to waste time palying with it and trying to work out how to make it better.
I think it all about maket share, what is the point of having a PDA as a phone with a 5meg camera all in one unit if you can sell all three.
The technolagy is around, look at the Sony cameras. Shame but what can we do as the differences between men and boys remains the price of their toys.
Ha ha ha, I know MDAIIIUser........
It's just that I use it also as a tool in my business.
I have a lot of tools, and if one of them don't work as it's suppose to, it's just right back in their the next second.
I get no mercy when I'm out on a job, everyone don't get any mercy when they are on a job. If it's not finished........Well you simply just don't get the money. If it's not made by the regulations, you get a ticket to the court room, and don't expect it to anything else for you than cost a hell of a lot of money.
So you see, it's bugs me quite a bit that i buy a device at this price that’s not finished. There are major software troubles on it, making the phone part useless from time to time.
It's sold as BT compatible, what BT compatibility are they talking about??? Everyone is having trouble with it no matter what headset they are connecting to.
It don’t even have the most basic function found in every single phone sold world wide, a button lock that actually locks the device. I was sure that it was something I missed, just couldn’t believe that it weren’t in there.
And I don’t care if this is a PDA/Phone and not a Phone/PDA, they can’t be that thick in their heads that they don’t see this.
The hardware is bad, it’s getting more and more loose every day, the sliding keyboard is soon to become an auto sliding keyboard. Just hold it vertical and it will slide down all by itself.
I had the whole outer case replaced because the stylus was sliding out by itself. Now about 3 weeks later it’s so loose that it in the next week or so will be completely loose again. Then it’s in to service once again, me not having my tool which I spend a good amount of money on software for business use. Back to paper and then by hand doing the job in the office.
Now I’m guessing that this will happen again, that being the 3’rd time. Then it’s a full refund by law, and if the software isn’t ready at that time, I will claim a full refund or else ill just hand it over to my attorney. Buy a laptop for the car, a P900 again and then the irritation is over, and I can work in peace and quite.
The screen occasionally makes a high frequent sound when I’m talking in it, making it quite difficult to concentrate on the conversation. Unfortunately they didn’t have any new screens on stock when it was repaired the last time……….
I had absolutely no hopes for the camera when I got it, as I said earlier, what’s to expect of a VGA camera, and I don’t care, even though it would be nice to actually have one that could produce something just a little bit useful.
If I where the IT responsible person in a big company, I certainly wouldn’t recommend the boss to get 50 of these, the work load and support needed is simply just too much.
And all that said, ill properly end up with the MDA IV anyway *LOL* , what an idiot
Hum!!! Got out of bed on the wrong side or did wify have a headache??
Ok I admit the hardware is crap, my keyboard is auto eject at the momnet and the only thing I am REALY happy about is the fact that it has a metel case as I have dropped it (or was it threw it on the floor). My 5 yearl old girl has better developed teath than the BT on this thing. Yellow is a nice color if you realy like it but maybe not on a high depth screen. Don't even let me go down the rest, I will sound like you.
All I can hope for is the MDA 4 and that I get that one free as well. If its only to update wiki. Grin.
Thanks for your post put a big grin on my face.

Well let’s not take it all out on the phone.
I think it would be more fair to get that book out with the title “101 uses for a BA owners head”.

Well maybe we could get some highly respected brain schrinks expert opinion in there, then it at least would have one page, “I simply do not now”

radar detection program.

Does anyone know of any radar detection program for windows mobile 6 ?
I'm talking of the radar that traffic department use to detect you speed on the road. I know gadgets exist that detect the devices and give you early warning. iv'e heard the nokia phones have such a program, does anyone know if one exists for windows mobile phones ?

Tomtom only warns you about the permanent cameras, it does not detect radar, laser or "instant on" radar signals!!!
Yes i am talking about the live instant radar devices. the guy standing on the side of the road with the radar cam.
NOT the permenent camara's.
I need the phone to beep and warn me when a radar device is in close proximity.
Oh God... you can't be serious...
Re the nokia phone, check here:
http://www.warp2search.net/contentt...ia_mobile_phone_as_a_police_radar_detect.html
It's been proven and proven again - it doesn't work... The only part of your phone I could see somebody trying to say would work is the IR receiver, but IR and RADAR are two ENTIRELY different things. And even if your phone could detect RADAR or Laser (which, again, none can) - you'd have to place the phone somewhere on your windshield to make it useful - and given the Hermes configuration, you'd have to have your phone horizontal... Even if it did work, I'd not want the thing sitting all goofy in my windshield.
With all due respect this is one of the goofier requests I've ever seen on here.
In other words - buy a radar detector... A half-way decent one can be had for under $60

I had no idea, that this joke from early GSM will resurface again in PDAs. The only other popular GSM lamer-tester I know about was Polish invention of "marupy zwrotne" ~ "return/confirmation marupas" (yes, it makes no sense in Polish neither, but sounds... dumb and probable at the same time).
Do you know of any other gossip/fake GSM/PDA services that were used to joke of not-so-bright users?
Sorry, i think, that if you want to use the Hermes as radar detector, you can use it as microwave oven. The WiFi module works on 2,4 GHz like the oven too.

Just the whole horror story about cell phone towers in residential places has no scientific basis at all. The same people scaremongering about this stuff are probably responsible for this one:
In scotland a plan to build a wind farm, 10 or so wind turbines, was refused due to concerns by the local community about the risk of radiation!?!?!?! WTF!!!!!
Besides the mobile phone<->tumor thing has been disproven many times by (independant) scientific study, the public always go along with these STUPID rumours.
Of course it's stupid as hell. Why those people still use TV sets (after all CRT and plasmas are quite effective x-rays lamps), electric engine-based household devices (this is really powerful electromagnetic source) and microwave ovens (that in fact are causing problems with WLAN and some cell phone devices). And what about those electric cables in the walls? Slightly exaggerating those are giant antennas emitting 50/60Hz waves at very high power.
So if you (the reader, not mrvanx of course) are anti-cell phone tower activist, start with canceling you contract with company that delivers power to your house. Then we can continue talking.

Remember the email that said you could unlock any car that used a remote keyless system?
http://www.snopes.com/autos/techno/keyless.asp
the original point
regarding the RADAR guns that law enforcments use...
(i know about this i have 11 points on my license (3 have already come off once) and done the speed aware ness corse)
i do beleive they use a few different devices and on different frequancies, the devices you have in your car dont always detect the RADAR and they also change progressivly so you would need to keep buying the latests detectors... not to mention if you are speeding and your detector (even your phone is you got it to work (not likely)) picks up a signal and warns you... its already hit you the gun already knows how fast your traveling and its all too late!!
there are devices that emit a scramble frequancy and the copper will just get ERR on the gun but again they change the frequancy or method (lasers or RADAR) and your still boned and in UK if your caught with one of them you can then be prosicuted for preventing the corse of justice...
all in all its not worth it... the Tom Toms and the likes have notifacations for fixed cameras and 'black spots' were there is offten coppers park (this doesnt mean they wont change spots and they might never be there as you drive past but thought it was worth a mention)
If you want to find radars open your nostrils... They usualy smell like onions...
Cheers and good luck.

my Excalibur is useful because it's got my personality.
I would have to say it's huge for email. It keeps me up to date with my accounts on the fly. I also use it as a phone and texts. Once you go Qwerty you won't go back. I've used my own gps for my car that has touch screen and the Garmin is a whore of a keyboard at times. I'm still not sold on a phone with touchscreen. Hey but that's me.
A great travel toy. Movies, music, and games. If you have ever been waiting for a haircut or dentist office. It makes the time go by in a flash.
First HTC probably not my last.
XDA is the real deal. There are so many talented people here. I just try to pass on any knowledge I have picked up. It's the least one could do.

Video ringtones?

Hi has anybody thought about creating a program to allow video ringtones?
Not going to leave you hanging alone
I always wondered that I remember when camera phones were being blasted out a friend of mine had a Sprint Sanyo that had video ringtone that was the only phone I have seen do that. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Would be cool though to see a friend or someone on a video ringer moving and shaking.
yeah, it looks like the iPhone can do it. Hopefully WP7 will make it happen too..
http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...37F167FD1A36A7AE1E6537&view=detail&FORM=VIRE5
AFAIK, MS don't provide (and I'm afraid will never provide) any low level phone API. So, the only hope is "freedom ROMs" from DFT...
why do you need video ringtones?
its absolutly nonsense. If someone calls me, my smartphone is in my pocket or lies somewhere on a table. The sound notification is enough, to know that somebody calls me. And it takes maybe 2 seconds to answer a call, so why watch 2 secs of a video

Is HTC Sense a potential threat to your phone?

Hi all,
I was just wandering, is Sense a threat to your phone? For example, you're in a very important meeting that decides your future, then suddenly, somebody phones you. Then you're like "Oh Crap!" so you flip your phone over, therefore silencing the call. Then an hour later, the meeting finishes. You've either gotten promoted and now you got a high-paying role, or things go South, and you either get de-promoted or stick with your current role, or you just get fired. So you look at your phone, to ring back the nuisance that called you. To make a long story short, you scream. You slouch against a wall and cry in despair. You flipped your phone over with a bit of force. You screen is cracked/smashed/scratched. So now, depending on your current role, you can get a new phone, or have no phone, or just a cheap Nokia. But either way, you liked your HTC a lot.
So, what do you guys think. Have you been in a situation like this. For example, your phone thought you had pockets that were bigger on the inside, and rang quite loud; and you were in your holy place of worship, making matters even worse and quite embarrassing.
So, is HTC Sense a life saving feature, or a terrible feature?
PS: Somebody think of a more effective word then terrible.
Keep holding volume down button till it goes WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY down to vibrate. Done.
btw, how do u have android "3.3" on ur WFS?
Is sense a threat? No. In those scenarios it'd be peoples stupidity for not putting their phone on silent.

This is honestly the most stupid thing I have heard all year. Only a complete moron would smash the screen by turning a phone over
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium
This post actually has no point!
HTC Sense gives you the Options to disable those features if you don't want them! Simple as that! You have a Smartphone in your hands not a cheap Nokia! lol
There is also a Hidden Feature inside the Sense Rom which if you actually find it then your HTC phone will kill you! Who's that for a threat?
Don't get me wrong I'm just saying the truth!
Its all the users fault. People at school get their phones taken up, only because they wernt smart enough to use the silent mode or turn the phone off. not htcs fault
Dude, how hard do you flip over your phone during meetings!?
sense not bad; just a bit bloated

I dunno. As long as I got Android, then I don't care. I'll check when I'm in the developing mood. That's when I got some free time and don't have any homework which the teachers constantly set but when it gets given back it never gets seen by human eyes again!
Just so everyone knows, this thread is mainly a joke. I just thought the whole thing up when I was bored.

So mods, close it if you wish. Just a bit of Android humour.
I still don't believe the 3.3 and you cracking a phone's screen by turning it around. XD
Android and Sense destroyed my life
Android and Sense destroyed my life
The most disgusting thing in Sense and all launchers is that you can easily switch homescreens by swyping a finger.
I was a very rich man and used to have like 7 women at once. I have 16 children and never had to pay child support because of my women did not know each other.
I paid an agency giving me alibis and stuff, so it would have never been revealed what I was doing.
That changed very hard when I bought my brandnew HTC Device with Android and Sense. So how?
You know, the girls like it when you set their face as wallpaper, having a widget on the homescreen to call or message them instantly and all that stuff.
So I did it for every chick on each homescreen and every girl was happy and so in love.
Well, the other day I just dropped my phone and girlfriend 7 of 7 series 2011 just catched it up, swyping with her palm over the screen. So this was the end. She called girls 1 to 6 and told them the truth. But she did not stop. She also called the 14 girls from 2009 and 2010.
Now I am a poor man. And that just because of some dumg guys of HTC integrated a feature they call "user experience"
So I will never ever buy a smartphone again - and probably will never ever have money for one either ...
Will HTC put aircon support for sense. no? I want a phone with aircon.

I'd quite like to see someone smash their phone like that.
