Evening Guys,
Got a slight problem, at some point today my phone's screen has gone a little, erm, wrong
In the perfect centre of the screen a a block has appeared measuing 2 Inch High by 1 Inch Wide, and has a oil on water effect, that section of the screen is still touch sensitive but I wonder if something has broken, the screen image is displayed OK underneath which made me wonder what has actually gone wrong ?
Any explanations ?
Also, If this is bad and I claim on my mobile insurance, I am obviously going to flash the latest official ROM to it, but I also need to return the SPL to a stock one obviously, can someone give me a link to the one I should put on, I currently have on HardSPL SPL-1.93.OliNex.
Much appreciated, this is bizzare, any help or advice would be helpful.
Many thanks.
This is an issue a few people have and some managed to get it repaired under warranty see 4WINMOBILE, HTCWIKI and HERE.
As for returning to stock ROM and SPL there is also a post (or two) on that subject. (HERE)
If you need any help returning to stock, I will offer my assistance to you.
That would be appreciated mate, if you could point me at the correct official SPL I should flash to my device that would be great.
I don't know what the vodaphone version came with but I would use 1.37 and the latest UK WWE official ROM and send it back to HTC (UK) which are based in Milton Keynes.
As long as you remove the customisation then all should be OK.
EDIT: did you see my first post for a link to the SPL info posted by cmonex
Yeah, it's a O2 device anyway, but I have a vodafone contract, purchased the device a few months ago on Ebay, got vodafone to add to my mobile insurance the day it arrived.
Been fine for months and most of today, and then that happened. Damn my luck.
Have you a link to the 1.37 Official SPL ? Or whicever the O2 one is.
EDIT: Opps, thanks for that, got what I need, I'll be ringing Vodafone in the morning to sort out the return.

hey all, my XDA II O2 is dead, i have a bit of a story to tell about it too. the poor thing won't boot up past the O2 spash screen.
i was initially selling my O2 around the traps as a working unit, then someone asked me to show them landscape view, and i didn't know how. i soon found out i needed to upgrade to 2003se or 2005. so on my homage to flashing my O2's ROM. i went and tried a 2005 and some random version radio stack hoping to upgrade two things at once, then, only one worked. my OS flash was fine, but my radio ROM didn't work at all. so basically i could get into WM2003, 2003SE, 2005 fine but couldnt use my simcard.
i've tried countless times to manually fix it aswell as using the official O2 ROM update off their site. then i went and sent it to O2 customer service or whatever it's called this year . they charged me $45AUD for general service fee which included flashing the radio and OS roms up to the latest. then they ring me up one morning saying my poor O2 needs a new motherboard (somewhere between $350 - 450 i think). i asked why, they said because it wouldn't power on at all. so i tried turning it on, it didnt work all of a sudden, so to speak.
i still had to pay the $45aud and ended up without a working O2, at all.
i felt furious but helpless and tried not to have to pay the fee, but had to.
long story short, heh, i need to do something with my shell of a XDA II, either sell, sell parts, fix, find a special ROM flash that might fix it. i don't know, i've tried so hard and have gotten nowhere. so, guys, any insight in what i could/should do?? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
OH OH OH also, on that note, i can't go into bootloader mode or any other mode at all, so i cant re-flash
Threaten to sue. It worked partially when you sent it to them as it would power up - they've made it worse.

hi im gonna send my phone back because the call/answer button doesnt work very well, i have flashed the phone to original htc but on the new windows mobile 6, i have downgraded the ipl and spl so i dont have olipro. Just wanted to know if its fine to send back phone on the new os or is it prefered if it was back on wm5 instead of 6?
i dont want them complaining its my fault for the button not working well, but i do know its hardware related but you know how companies will squirm out of paying to fix their problem.
Any advice would be grateful.

I've seen many comments in many threads about returning phones under warranty and the consensus is that IPL/SPL or ROM probably doesn't matter. Nobody seems to notice....
I bricked my 8525 a couple of months ago while out in Los Altos, CA.
Took it into the AT&T dealership near Stanford. They exchanged it no questions asked. They basically looked it over to see if it had been dropped (looking for deep scratches), and checked the fluid indicator near the battery to ensure it had not gotten wet.
I don't think they care what version the phone is running, but I'm not 100% positive.
if ur phone is htc branded then yes it is okay as u are sending it back with a official htc rom. if its another then send it back with that carriers rom. better safe the sorry.
EDIT: i see u have a htc tytn so yes dont worrry about it as long as spl and ipl are the same as original.
thanks for the advice, hopefully the wont complain about the little scratches, im abit clumsy this past few weeks. Cheers all
I typed in my SN on HTC.COM and it's kicks back... And I searched here on XDA and google. I have a DIAM 110 U.S. 3G version.
I hard SPL'd, upgraded to SwiftBlade 7.5 and it was working good for a day or two. Then all of a sudden in the middle of last night while I had it charging it must have done something because in the morning it was locked up and HARD RESET itself! It also mentioned something about having an unsecure program or application or something like that... The screen was all fuzzy and shaking as well... I definitely don't want to risk it hard resetting itself anymore...
I want to go back to the original shipped. Just wondering thanks.

HTC branded unlocked I guess...? I don't know I ordered it from EBay unlocked NAM version... I appreciate any help you can give. It's pretty much the one they sell at Best Buy.
I do not know why it is not anywhere as I looked for it also, Every other Diamond ROM that has came out from HTC always gets posted but for some reason, the only way to get it is dump the ROM and radio. Here is the closest you can get, ROM only,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432496
yes thats the one
i was going to point you at that one too
Thanks guys will try that... I hope this will help stop my screen from bouncing and flickering after soft reset... Any ideas?
Did you try hard spl 193?

I haven't. It's not in the HARDSPL rollup thread. Got a link?
I'm also currently in emails with HTC regarding which shipped ROM came with my device. They don't know as of yet...
Hi guys
I've had an o2 Ignito for the last year and its given me no trouble whatsoever.
I've tried various roms for it, all with no problems.
All of a sudden, I'm getting no signal at all. o2 confirm the phone has not been blacklisted or anything and my sim card works ok in other phones.
Any ideas?
o2 have said send it back and we'll repair it... I've got a cooked rom on there of course.
I've got a o2 stock rom called: Xda Ignit2_UK_2.10.206.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe Would that be enough to get past they're security checks? Do I need to remove HardSPL 1st? I've searched the site and I can't get my head round doing it.
Thanks in advance to anyone that could help
I'm using: [WWE] Windows Revolution Manila 2.1 Edition 1.1A (23017)

Reverting to stock SPL is always the last step.....be sure tot restore stock ROM and radio first.
good luck!
Great stuff mate, thanks for that link. Don't know how I missed that.
It may be, that sticking a new rom on there might fix it. I'll let you know
glad i could help out, this one is even more clear:

The stockROM you mention has a radio in it (it's the last part of the description) so when you put this on it you're good to go.
He..everybody in here is/was a noob at some point, so no worries
Worked a treat, o2 were arses getting the phone back to me, but they did
In the end it was the main board that went so that's been replaced. So new EMEI number :|
Is there an easy/cheap/FREE way of unlocking it? I'm thinking of selling it because I've lost the heart with it somewhat.
Thanks again for the invaluable help, gotta love these forums
your most welcome, but can't help you out with the unlock thingy....never had a locked phone

Sell it, or get an upgrade.. Or just unlock it again. All three are just about as easy as each other. I stumbled upon a complete noob guide to flashing the other day. I think once you have a custom SPL on there you're good to do pretty much anything.
Hi...some advice please. Tomorrow I will pick up an HTC Desire (unlocked) from my provider here in Holland. The issue is that I am English.....and ASAP I will need to change the Android 2.1 Dutch into a WWE system. I have flashed my previous HTCs but want some advice on Flashing this phone.
Question 1) Which flash do you recommend I download from this site (there seem to be loads of std WWE files?
Question 2) Anything to be careful with?
Question 3) I have downloaded Unrevoked3 software....is this what I should use for an unlocked phone?
Many thanks in advance for the answers.

Is it coming from a Dutch operator? If not, when you first turn it on it'll ask your language...
Yes its a Dutch operator and a Dutch Operating system. Thats why I need WWE. I cannot read Dutch and all alerts etc will be dutch even if by selecting English will give some things in English....been there 4 times now with previous HTC phones in Holland.
Im dutch too i can help you
Just ask te seller to set the language to english?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
The T-Mobile shop said it was only available in Dutch so I took their word for it. It arrives tomorrow so I will see if thats all thats needed. My experience from before is that this is not the answer. Your ROM is NLD and I need WWE
Trafford, I work in a T-Mobile store and today I sold a Samsung Galaxy which I turned to English for a customer. The day before yesterday I sold another android phone and turned it to Chinese... I don't think you need to change the ROM just for the language... Also in my memory, I was able to change the T-Mobile HTC Desire to English without any problems or Dutch pop-ups. Can't check it though, rooted and customized a while ago.
That sounds great Sjraar. The T-Mobile guy asked and was told it was Dutch....so of course I decided to check for a new ROM. He also said it was unlocked. Does that mean it is Rooted or unrooted?? or is locking and rooting unconnected?

If you work in a phone store, you should know that it depends from where your company imports the phones.. when they're smart, they buy wwe because it can be cheaper.
I hope it is WWE it will save some hassle. By the way.....He also said it was unlocked. Does that mean it is Rooted or unrooted?? or is locking and rooting unconnected?
I'm not completely sure, but I think they bought WWE versions and then put a small T-Mobile branding over it. There's no sign of web 'n walk logo's and stuff. Just the bootscreen was T-Mobile, but when I flashed a diffrent ROM, that went away...

It's unlocked to any network, but it's still unrooted, so that you need to do. I used the UnRevoked option, but check whether the phone has an SLCD or AMOLED. Read something somethere that you need to be careful with that, and even though it states on the box that the phone has an AMOLED screen, it might be a SLCD. HTC hasn't yet changed the boxes...
Well I guess I will see tomorrow if they get it as promised. Thanks for your replies everyone. I was thinking of flashing to Android 2.2 .....what do you think?
When we checked the spec on the computer in the shop it said Amoled, that was my reason for having the desire instead of the HD2 which he had in stock but Windows 6.5 and no AMOLED so I went for the desire. I better check that too....how will I know the difference?
found this
After hearing that HTC will officially switch to Super LCD screens from AMOLED back in July due to AMOLED display panel shortages on Samsung's side, we now got to a point where new HTC Desire devices hit the market from the new production batch sporting SLCD screens. If you want to make sure your device has a SLCD screen, read below for a few hints:
1. Check the box your Desire came with at the section Display: if it states "3.7 inch AMOLED touch-sensitive screen" then you've got an AMOLED display but if it says "3.7-inch touch-sensitive screen" then you've got an SLCD display.
