I experienced every since I soft reset the phone, it will take very long time to catch the satellite signal for the first time. I am using Garmin mobile xt.
I come across this from some where and installed this on SD card.
It actually accelerate the signal detection for the first time, takes less than 2 minute.

Please delete thread this if you find the information I share is violated to the copy right issues, as I cannot see any software details in it, thus I don't know if this is a freeware.
I will try this, does it come up on startup everytime? how much memory does it consume?
BTW - I didn't try it, but there is AGPS functionality in device which speed it up as well

A very small software that u don't need to install, just run it from SD card.
I guess so the data will retain after every soft reset. Caused I experienced it get faster signal every first Garmin activation.
Maybe anyone had tried can give feedback.
Can someone put the file here for download? I can't download from that site...

Hi
In the last week or so my SD card has suddenly started disappearing until I soft reset the device. If I remove and reinsert a different card this also does not appear. The only way I have found to resolve the problem is to do a soft reset. It will then be visible for a day until it disappears again.
I haven't been able to narrow it down to a specific application or action.
Has anybody else seen this (or even better know what the problem may be?)
I have had the same problem i found it to be "Spb ToPlay" everytime i used it if i stopped it playing i lost all sound on my XdaIIs and the SD card went missing. removed the plug-in and havent had the problem since...........................do you have this plug-in? if you dont then i have no idea sorry i couldnt help.
I have recently installed spb time but it doesn't conincide with my problems starting. I may try disabling it to see if that makes a difference.
this has happened to me before, but i didnt have anything like you mentioned installed, so it must be a bug or something!!!
I found on my M1000 that the card will not be visible when the battery gets low, most times it gives a message like "the power is too low to support the device"
Happens to me with my O2 XDA IIs. When I contacted O2 about it, guess what their reply was?
Reply number 1:
"Thank you for choosing O2!
With regards to your query below, you may like to remove your storage card and monitor the device. Please note that O2 Asia has tested with different brands of 256MB SD card and works fine. However, storage card of larger size may not work properly and cause the device to hang. You may also like to test your unit with another storage card to verify. Hope the above information is useful for you. Thank you."
Reply number 2:
"With regards to your query below, you may like to perform a hard reset and
without restoring back any data back to the phone, try to change the
landscape again and see if the problem still persist.
**To perform a full reset:
Warning: Clearing memory deletes all data and restores the Pocket PC Phone
to its default settings. Programs installed at the factory remain, while
data you have created and programs you have installed are erased.
Before performing the full reset, use ActiveSync to keep a backup of your
Pocket PC Phone data so that if you need to clear memory, you can restore
the data on your Pocket PC Phone.Do not use Xbackup on your device to do
backup for your data.
To perform a full reset on XdaIIs, press and hold the power button, and then
use stylus to press the soft reset button at the same time. After the full
reset, you will be prompt to recalibrate the touch screen.
Hope the information is useful to you. If you have any further enquiries,

What a load of crap!
In one of my more thoughtless moments I have installed the emoze client on my S620. Now the phone locks up after every restart. Is there any way I can stop that software from starting or do I have to do a hard reset!

Adrian
I guess you never found an answer here? I have the exact same problem. Old versions of emoze worked fine... new one, killed my dash.
I haven't tried it, but from other posts I've gathered that you can remove the SIM card, start the phone, do NOT clear the error at boot, connect USB to a PC and launch ActiveSync, then remove the offending program from \Windows\StartUp. This avoid the hard reset.

I'm not really familiar with this app, but just out of curiosity, did you install this on your micro-SD card? if you did, then remove the sd card and then reboot. This will make the startup link "fizzle out" since it's pointing to media located on a piece of hardware that is not installed. This should allow you to then re-insert the micro-SD card (after a couple of minutes) and then go through the settings-->>remove programs ...portion
Thanks for the feedback.
I cant remember where I installed the offending software.
I have done a hard reset since the original post and all is working fine, but I will snaffle those ideas away for future reference - should it ever happen again.
I love this forum!
Hi,
I'm experiencing problems with PocketIE.
Simply it doesn't not load pages: as soon as I tap Go or I give Enter, it says "Connecting..." in the bottom bar, then 0 KB, then nothing again, and does not load anything!
It simply stays idle on the default home page!
Every other application is able to use my internet connection.
Any suggestions
Ciao, ErMeglio
Looks like you have a connection issue: problem is not PocketIE, but your PDA don't connect to internet.
Just to be sure, try istalling other browsers: OperaMini, etc. I bet, other browsers will not connect, too.
Try to check internet connection

This happened to me when i imported my config XML using advanced config.. the only way to fix it is to hard reset i think.
I discovered this because I wanted to install signed OperaMini in my own language as I always did: downloading from IE by Mobile. That's the only way to get it signed, since suggestions I found on other threads didn't work(MANIFEST modify).
The fact is this situation is after an HR and Internet works perfectly: WLM is listening "as items arrive" and so my Exchange email set in Active Sync.
BUT, this is also after me messing with SDConfig.txt...I've set all my usual apps and some xml and this:

actually makes sense.Infact one of the XML I make SDConfig.txt import is the one exported from AdvanedConfig, just after my personalizations. I don't remember if I did import it again by the app another time after HR, but I don't think so. Did you try importing it differently(SDConfig, other apps)? I'd like to understand if it's the xml itself, or the importing from the AdvConf app.
I've just noticed that the index file of IE cache (on sd according to my xml) is somehow "locked": I can't delete it. It could be IE can't write there too.
I'm doing a complete loong scan disk of my Micro by Windows Vista (even if I never had a problem, it always complains about corruption, so let's try and see what Mr. Bill can do )...then I'll delete cache from pc and try again...
I've much to learn to get my SDConfig work in all its parts
@abusalza
Yes, I'm using PDACornerPro.V22 but posted separately because this issue was not there at first, so it's -99%- sure it isn't your rom's fault, thanks for interesting
As soon as I get everything working through SDConfig, I'll go for final v23, I see you're uploading
[UPDATE]
Ok, just did the scandisk and it found 450MB of damaged files! I really don't know where and how, but I deleted the so-big FOUND.000 directory it made and didn't really understand where all that stuff came from.I deleted any file into IE's cache dirs too but no luck with IE, same matter.
Will flash V23, make SDAutoRun do its duties and see...
If it's confirmed to be an AdvConf matter, why don't we discuss it with Schap?
Well, just to let you or someone who comes here later know how this story finished, I found which was the matter!
With AdvancedConfig I changed the Application Data directory and moved it to storage card.
Seems IE didn't like that tweak: I simply changed it to \Application Data again and woilà, IE started working
Thanks for pointing me to the solution
Ihave Same Problem But When I Using Rom Wm5 With Original Cingular Ie Work Fine But When I Upgrade To Wm6 Or At&t, That Happen Again, I Try Install Opera It's Work Fine
Hello all, best wishes for all of you.
I am new on this forum and read many stuff here allready. However i didn't find a real solution yet for my problem to get cab-files installed, f.e.:
I'd like to install Gyrator 2 on my HTC Touch HD (UK) (And other software)
When i try this i get this error:
"The file "gyrator" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file".
The same message occures when i try to do this with other cab-files. GSen was going fine and even CabInstaller did. Net Compact Framework 3.5. installed and ROM version: 1.14.401.3
I copied the cab-files from PC to PPC by dragging it into the Storage Card.
I would really appreciate your help, because im goin' nuts!!!
Tia ....
Hello.
try this:
- make a soft reset and try again to install from the SD card
- make a soft reset, copy the .cab file with activesync to the phone memory (not on the SD card) and try again to install
when this also won´t work I´m afraid you will have to hard reset your phone..
i had same problem
why dont you just use Gsen, same thing, works great! its definately here

What .cabs are you trying to install?

Problem solved! The way i used CabInstaller was wrong. Instead of open the CaBinstaller first and then adding the cab-file and destination path, i double clicked on the cab-files first and then it won't work, because i gave CabInstaller permission to take over the control of installing cab-files
Thank you anyway for thinking with me ..
Great to hear you solved your problem!
<off-topic>Could you please change your subject in the initial post? subject is supposed to describe what the thread is about like "unable to install CAB files" or something like that...thanks<off-topic>
What is the different between the 2? I don't mean to sound stupid, but don't they both do the same thing?
I know to clear storage, i can do that from Settings, but to Hard Reset some people are suggesting to shut off the phone and hold Volume UP and Volume DOWN... all this stuff
don't they both do the same thing?
Yes, they both will do hard reset. But doing it via the button press combination enabled you to do it without going into the OS. It's helpful for when you messed something up so bad that your device won't boot.
oh okay... that makes sense, thanks man
The hard reset will actualy clear everything and make it like you just took your phone out of the box. Clearing storage will leave some things unchanged in the OS.

That's not true. Going to "Clear Storage", entering "1234", and tapping "yes" is equal to hard reset.

Leave what unchanged exactly?
Clear Storage takes it back to the default settings of the ROM. Everything 'reloads' so to speak just like after a hard-reset.
It's the equivalent of "Restore to Factory defaults" on other phones.
Exactly the same as an HR.
so even if i flashed 6.5 wwe, and have hardspl it will return it back to 6.1 "out of the box"

No... It's restored to factory-defaults only if you haven't already replaced the factory rom contents with a new rom.
perfect thats waht i needed to hear!
Does it matter if the memory card is in, it is not going to delete all the applications on it I guess. How about all the contacts, I couldn't find them on the phone, no idea where exactly they were stored

Contacts are stored on the device (I believe in a file called pim.vol at the root of the device), and will be lost of a hard reset is performed. There is a free program called PIMBackup which will back up and restore your contacts.
As far as having your SD Card in, it doesn't matter, I hard reset all the time, and don't lose any card data. However, if you've enabled storage card encryption, you need to disable it before your hard reset or you will lose all data on the card. This is because it will still be encrypted and your device will fail to read it, as it no longer knows the encryption key.

Thanks for the fast reply, it's relly helpful. I just found the encryption function, it was not enabled to begin with so I guess the card should be fine. Do I have to save PIMBackup on the phone or storage card will work?

Go to Start>Settings>System and there might be something like Encrypt Storage Card. But, I forgot that a lot of cooked ROMs leave this setting out, in which case you need not worry about it. Besides, you have to explicitly enable it, and I'm sure that if you did that you'd remember.

Keep your backup files on the storage card. Otherwise, they will be wiped out in the hard reset.
OK here is why I say a clear storage is different from a hard reset. KforTP was not working on my Sprint TP2. Normally during the install, it would say something along the lines for found "xxx.dll" and then would soft reset the device. Well it was not working. I tried 3 times to clear storage each time making it seem like it was set to factory default. How ever when I installed KforTP it would never or display the found "xxx.dll". The reason I did a clear storage was because I didn't even know about the hard reset.
Did some research found that hold call and end call then the power button would hard reset the device. Did that hit vol up to confirm restored the software and then the KforTP worked like a charm.
So my only logical conclusion was that a clear storage was not wiping everything.
